Guy Kawasaki unboxes a Sony RX1R II camera, describes the items included in the box (manuals, strap, battery, charger, pop-up viewfinder accessory, USB cable), and reviews its core specifications and positioning: a full-frame, fixed 35 mm prime lens camera with 42.4 megapixels and 399 focus points, ISO range ~100–25,600, compared to the larger Sony A7R II and suggested as an "ultimate street camera" and Leica Q competitor. Hi, this is Guy Kawasaki and I want to unbox a Sony RX1 R2. This is the RX1 R2. So Sony sent this to me. I'm going to show you what's in the box. So at the top of the box is a bunch of manuals. How boring manuals and you know, cloth and warranty and disclaimers and all that kind of stuff. We don't care that this is the strap for the camera. This is the camera itself. We'll wait, keep you in suspense. What's in here? This is the battery, battery charger. This is the thing for the pop up viewfinder. And we have a goggle to plug the cable to plug into the charger. And here is the USB cable. So USB cable, plug charger, battery strap, I cup, cuplet thing. And this, this is the camera. So this camera is a full frame camera, 42.4 megapixels. It has 399 focal points. It's a 35 millimeter lens prime and it is also not interchangeable. It's like stuck in there. So the good news is, you know, probably better coordination between the lens and the body. Bad news is you can't change any other lens. But I mostly shoot people and street photography. So 35 millimeter. So 35. So 35 millimeter is perfect. ISO 100 to about 25,600, essentially. Essentially you could think of this camera as a small version of this camera. This is a Sony A7RII. The R in A7R stands for resolution. If you had an AS7 it would be S standing for sensitivity to remember that. So AR A7. Oh my God. A7 R2R for resolution. So this is kind of the big version of this or this is the small version of this. This has a Zeiss lens and this is a, also a Zeiss lens. So that's in the box. You should think of this as kind of the ultimate street camera. And you know, think of it as a Leica Q Killer maybe perfect for street, not quite pocketable, although it would fit in a jacket pocket. But it is definitely smaller than a mirrorless camera like this one and definitely smaller than a digital slr. So the Sony. I got to look at the name Sony RX1R2. Get it for Christmas. 3300 bucks by the way. 3300 bucks. Better be a hell of a camera. And it is a hell of a camera. Thank you.
