A short excerpt from a Zeqr consulting call (YouTube) where Guy Kawasaki and another speaker discuss the difficulties of simultaneously creating content, selling services, and attracting an audience. Of all people who should understand this, getting millions of eyeballs to a site in order to sell advertising on that site is very, very hard. Right? Well, I guess my two cents is, first of all, it seems to me that you have a lot of battles. So you have a battle of creating content, you have a battle of selling, and you have a battle of getting eyeballs to your site. All three are hard, and you're trying to do all three at once.
I like the idea of going first to sell the service and build a kind of portfolio of clients or something like that. I keep running up against this chicken and egg situation where it's like, well, you don't have credibility. You don't have. You haven't done anything yet. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try it.
You have the right background to tell this story. I think there's two stages here. One, your hired guns. And second stage is that you are actually a destination. You may find out that being the hired gun is such a fun and lucrative business, and you may say, screw this, that's okay, too.
