Okay, so what happens when you set a goal and for the life of you, you just can't follow through? It's like, I told myself I was gonna do this, and I'm not doing it. Oh, it can be so aggravating. Ah, that's okay. Don't get your panties in a wad. I'm gonna tell you exactly what to do in this podcast.
Here's the big question. How are these average, everyday moms getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, families, homes, and have fun doing it?
The trick.
Check this out. We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley, and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show.
All right? So thanks for hanging out with me. I am walking my dog, and so I might be a little winded because he walks really fast and I gotta keep up with him, but this was on my mind the other day, and I know it's probably on your mind too, because, you know, we're like, synergistically. Is that even a word? It sounds good, so I'll just say it synergistically. Intertwined with our lives. I feel like when you go through stuff, I go through it. When I go through stuff, you go through it. We're just connected. That's how we are. We're living the same kind of lives. We're arm in arm. And I know that sometimes I have difficulty. I'll set goals for myself, and I'm like, why am I not doing this? Why am I not following through? What's holding me back? And I've. And if you're like me, you'll have a tendency to get frustrated with yourself, and that's the opposite of what you need to do. I have a tendency too, as well. And you get disappointed in yourself. And, you know, if there's negative energy, if you're disappointed, disappointed. If you're frustrated, nothing good can come out of that. Nothing good. You're just kind of kicking your own butt and going nowhere. So instead of kicking your butt, you kick in your own butt. Instead of being disappointed in yourself, I'm going to show you three ways to get yourself to follow through. And they work because I've proven it. I did the heavy lifting for you. So I'm going to show you these three things that will help you follow through. Number one is accountability. Because a lot of times we lose accountability with ourselves. You know what I mean? We say we're going to do something, we don't. We Say we're not going to eat sugar anymore and we get a Starbucks Frappuccino and. Or we say we're, you know, going to go to the gym and we don't. Or we say we're not going to get on social media. And here we are scrolling for, like, the last 45 minutes on Instagram. We're like, gosh, this is so frustrating. So what happens as a result is there's a break of integrity because you told yourself you would do something, you didn't follow through. So that trust relationship, you know how when someone, like, disappoints you, like when they. When they're like, yeah, I'll meet you at 12 at the restaurant. And 1221, they called, they're like, oh, I'm running late, I'm in traffic. And it's like, man, it's disappointing. But the bigger thing that happens is you lose faith in that person. You lose trust because they didn't follow through. Same thing happens in yourself. You lose trust with yourself because you didn't follow through. So there's a break. Your internal integrity, the belief you have in yourself, the trust you have in yourself. And when you have that internal break, you really have to earn your trust back. Just like when someone lets you down, they have to earn your trust back. You're not just going to be like, you know, oh, yeah, I'll have full faith that you're going to show up at 12 because they've let you down so many times. You're like, you know what? I'm not even going to be there in time because she's probably going to be late. Right? Same thing happens internally. When you let yourself down, you have to build that trust back up. Now we're going to talk more about that for number three, because I'm going to show you how to build your trust back up. But I want you to understand, first of all, what happens in your mind when you continually fail to follow through. It's just. It just happens. So we're going to learn how to build that trust back up. But the first thing you need if you have a hard time being accountable to yourself, is to be accountable to another person. That's what I mean by accountability. So get a partner. Someone who can, probably not your husband, because you want someone who can be a little tough on you, you know, not someone who, if they are tough on you, you'll retaliate. Someone who can hold you to the fire and say, girl, you said you were going to do this. Now that's why I truly believe everyone should have a life coach. Like, you really need someone to coach you through this life with, someone who you can report to, someone who can make sure you're following through and meeting the goals that you've set for yourself. But if you don't have a life coach, get someone who can coach you, someone who just you have a check in to make sure you're being accountable. Okay, number one, accountability. Number two, investment. Okay, let me ask you a question. How many things have you gotten free? Like download this free eating plan, free 21 day keto plan, free free recipe book, free exercise routine. And we download it, we think, oh, this is going to be it, I'm going to do it. And what happens? We don't do it. But let me tell you why you don't do it. And it's going to make so much sense to you because you didn't invest anything, you got it for free. And something happens in your subconscious. It just does. You can't battle this. It just does. Where if you haven't put any skin begin in the game, you're not going to get any reward out of the game. It's very rare that you actually take advantage of free programs because in your mind you think, oh, it's free and therefore there's no value. There was no exchange of value. I value this money, but I'm giving it to you because I value your program more. Does that make sense? So when you get things for free, very rarely do you follow through with it. I remember when my sister wanted to start doing whole 30 and she asked me if I would do it with her and I was like, sure, I will. And I knew that in order to follow through and maintain integrity and keep my promise to my sister, I had to have some skin in the game. So I got online and, and I bought not not used because I knew I had to have some significant skin in the game. And I bought the recipe book and I bought the, you know, the primary book on Whole 30 and, and I invested money in it because I knew if, if I had that subconscious investment perspective that I would actually use it. And I did. I absorbed the books, I followed through with her and it was a great experience. We enjoyed checking in every day and making sure we were on track. And it was really, it was also life changing for her because it helped her adopt new eating habits. So.

I knew I had to have some skin in the game because I know what happens when you don't. When you don't have skin in the game, very rarely do you do anything about it. So that number two, investment is so important. You've got to have something in exchange for what you're doing. So, for example, sometimes a gym membership isn't quite enough because a gym membership is. You haven't put a lot of money down. Unless it's like super expensive, you haven't put a lot of money down. And usually it's set on auto renewal. So you don't see, see that money being drafted out all the time. And you don't feel that investment on a visceral level as much as you need to in order to drive you to invest. Does that make sense? So you really have to have some type of skin in the game. It may be enough. It may be enough to say, you know What, I'm paying 50 bucks every single month. I'm going to take advantage of that. And maybe you could even do something where you like put a picture of a $50 bill on your phone and saying, I'm paying for the gym. So you can remind yourself, remind your subconscious really, like, you know what? I have invested in this. I need to take advantage of it. But you do have to invest. And another reason why I think a coach is so great, because when you invest in someone to help you, you are really plugged in, you really follow through, you do the work. Because, and, and here's the truth, it's funny because the gyms and you can, and you can see the stats on this, you can see the research, the gyms where it costs like $10 a month to be a member, they have the reasons price that way because they have tons of members, but only a small percentage actually show up. If everyone who paid 10 bucks a month showed up, they wouldn't have room. Like, they literally would have to shut the doors. They would not have room at the gym. But they, when they're doing their research and their marketing, they know that at this price, only this percentage will show up. But when you contrast that with something like Soul Cycle or something where you're paying a lot of money for each class. Like the people show up and. And a huge percentage because they've invested so much money. So that helps you follow through. When you do make an initial investment in the process, you got to have some skin in the game. Now, the third thing, and this is going to help you develop that trust relationship with yourself. The third thing. Lower the baseline. Lower the baseline. What do I mean by that? Well, here's what happens when we decide to make a life change. It'll be something like, you know what? I am only I'm going to exercise five days a week for an hour each time there's a problem there. Because going from 0-120 mph is a huge life change. And it is often not sustainable, especially if you have developed a habit and a lifestyle of only going, you know, of never going or not having any exercise at all. So one thing you could do is lower the baseline so it's easier to achieve. Now this is what you're doing here, and I want you to get the right perspective because what you're doing when you lower the baseline is you're not after the physical results, you're after the mental results. Let me explain what I mean there. When you lower the baseline and just start developing a habit, that's all, just a habit. All you're after is that subconscious switch to learn to trust yourself, learn that you're a person of integrity and be disciplined. That's all you're after when you're lowering the baseline. That's it. Because once you. But that's a huge thing. See, once you learn discipline and once you learn to trust yourself, you can do anything. I'm serious.
You can.
Like the sky's the limit. Because, you know if I say I'm doing something, I do it. That's the kind of person I am. I'm characterized by integrity. And you have to relearn this. You have to really just put this into habit. You just. And those habits become who you are and they characterize you. So if you've had difficulty following through on something, let's say the gym. Going to the gym. Let me just use that example again. What I would suggest is all you do is say, I'm going to the gym one day a week and I'm just exercising for 10 minutes. That's it. And you're like, hannah, that doesn't do anything for your body. You're right, it probably doesn't. It probably does nothing. But remember, we're not after the Physical change. We're after the mental change which has to come first before you can get changes you, your body or your environment. The change inside your head is what you're truly after. So if you lower the baseline, if you're like, I'm not going to eat sugar anymore. And then you're like, you know, you eat that entire ice cream cake that was left in the freezer before you go to bed. And then instead of kicking your butt, you might have to lower your baseline. Okay, you know what? All I'm going to do is I'm not going to put sugar in my morning coffee. That's it. I'll use like stevia or something. I'll use something else. Or I'll just learn to adapt without sugar. I'll just learn how to enjoy it without sugar. So just that tiny baseline, just lower the baseline just a bit. And when you lower the baseline, remember, this may not do anything for your body or for your environment. What it will do is something even more significant, more powerful, and that's lowering, is no lowering the baseline. It'll do something more powerful, which is that mental shift, that discipline. It will lower what's happening in your head. And then you can start increasing the baseline. And then we start working on the physical changes, the changes in your body and your environment. So those are three ways to make sure you are following through. Number one, get accountability. So important. Number two, you gotta have some skin in the game. You've got to invest. And number three, lower the baseline. Remember, the changes in your head have to happen before any changes happen in your environment. I hope this has helped you.
