Hey there, Master Mom. You know, just because you're a busy mom, it doesn't mean you need to put fashion on the shelf. Even if you think, oh, Hannah, I don't have a sense of style, I don't know about fashion. I don't have time for that. Well, that's why this series is for you. We are right in the middle of our series of Busy Mom Fashion School. And get ready for part two, where we're going to have a time becoming our personal stylist. Welcome to Mom Mastery, the education every mom should have had but didn't. I'm Hannah Keeley, America's number one mom coach, and class is now in session. All right, guys, this is your personal stylist. This is where you're going to get the skills on how to style yourself. Because a lot of times, you know, with everything we have to do as moms, fashion. Figuring out what style works, figuring how to put things together, that's like, maybe in another lifetime, right? I totally get this. But once I discovered really how simple and how fun fashion can be, I really enjoyed having that as a creative outlet in my life and incorporating it more into my life. And you've already learned from part one, everything fashion does, like why fashion? There's so many great reasons why busy moms should incorporate this into their life because it actually makes them more powerful, more confident, more productive. So we know it's important. We learned that in part one. But now, how do we do it? How do we execute this? Well, this is where this part comes into play, because we're going to discover how to become our own personal stylist. Now, some things that should never affect fashion. Fashion. Okay, there's three things. First of all, fashion should never be inhibited by. Number one, I'm not the right size. Like, I see a lot of moms like, well, would I lose another ten pounds? Or when I get down to a size, whatever. Then I'll start really focusing on what I wear and start dressing more fashionably. No, no, no. It doesn't matter what size, shape, and we're going to actually learn that here. It doesn't matter what you are. You can still, still dress so stylishly and fashionably and beautifully no matter what. So don't be inhibited by that, like being a whatever, the right size. I don't even know what that is. Whatever that is, it's elusive. It's not really a variable. We can dress stylish no matter what. Now, the second thing you should not be inhibited by is Too expensive. A lot of times we think fashion has to be expensive. Actually, I believe it's more fun when you make it like a challenge, like, how can I make this affordable? How can I even make this free? How could I even, I don't know, make money doing this? There's so many ways that we can dress fashionably on a budget, and it. It really is more fun that way, I think. I mean, how hard is it to, like, go into a fancy store and pull together 4, 500 outfit? Easy. But it's more adventurous to say, I'm going to express my style, find pieces to pull together, and then challenge myself to see where I can collect those. It's more fun. I think about all the times my kids and I have gone thrift store shopping. Boys and girls, we love to go thrift store shopping. We do to this day. It's. The challenge is, how do I pull things together? What's fun to wear? What could I pair with it? You know, so many things like that. So I think it's more fun. So don't let any. A price tag prevents you from expressing your creativity through style. And now the third one is not enough time. Remember, this is the busy mom fashion school. You are not limited with time because this is the whole purpose. And especially in part three, I'm going to show you how to pull together an outfit in 10 minutes or less. And everyone's got 10 minutes, right? And that's like start to finish. And so you're not limited by time. It doesn't take a lot of time investment to dress stylishly or fashionably. It takes knowledge, it takes skill. That's what we're doing. And it just takes a system. So that's what we're going to lay out. Now, you can't have a system on how to dress stylishly until you first learn what your personal style is. So this is going to be so much fun. I'm excited about this because this is. This is part of that self discovery. How do I see myself? How do I want to express myself in the world? Imagine this is your art project. Okay? This is going to be a lot of. Lot of fun. Now, first, number one, we're going to do three things here. The first thing we're going to do is we're going to find your style. Now, there are several different styles, but I've kind of narrowed it down to a few so you can find what resonates with you. And here's a little hint. You don't have to fit into Any category at all. Like, some days I, I dress vintage, some days I dress classic. Some days I dress eclectic. Like, that's part of the fun. So you might say, okay, definitely see my style here. This is so me. There are lots of moms who will do that, but then there's some moms like me. It's like, well, I see a little bit of myself here. I feel like sometimes I wake up and I feel like this. So wherever you find yourself, this is a way to just put a label on it and provide some clarity to how you're going to structure your wardrobe. Okay, so there are six different styles that I'm going to share with you. Classic streetwear, bohemian, vintage, rocker and eclectic. Now I'm going to briefly go over those and one of them, maybe several of them will resonate with you. Now the first one is classic. I want you to think clean lines, timeless, elegant, refined. So this is that mom who has the structured outfits, right? Neutral colors, high quality basics. So here are some key pieces. See if you resonate with any of these key pieces. Tailored blazers, button down shirts, cashmere sweaters, straight leg jeans, leather loafers, ballet flats, pointed toe pumps, neutral handbags, minimal jewelry. So if that's you, if you like that pull together, classic look, that's what you are, girl, you are a classic. Okay, does that resonate with you? Maybe so. Or maybe a style number two, which is street wear. Now what is street wear? That's kind of like the mom outfit, I think. So I put street wear in here because sometimes we're just like, I want to wear a pair of joggers and a hoodie. Now that doesn't mean we have to dress it down. I have plenty of time. Worn joggers, hoodie, a bunch of like chunky jewelry, some really cool shoes. So you can even dress up. Very casual wear. So, so this is kind of that trendy, edgy, comfortable style. And these are, these are moms with like that cool kind of relaxed attitude, but they still want to bring style into it. So here are some key pieces in the streetwear wardrobe. Oversized graphic tees, crop tops, hoodies, biker shorts, joggers, ripped jeans, chunky sneakers, like the, like the Air Force or Adidas Crossbody bags, baseball caps, bold sunglasses. Now if that's you, hey baby, you are a streetwear mom. All right, so that's doll number two. What about style number three? This is the hippie mom. This is bohemian. Now what is bohemian? This is kind of like that 70s vibe, that, that hippie vibe, that very relaxed casual Vibe. This is for the mom who likes to be relaxed but artistic. Right? So here are some key pieces in the bohemian wardrobe. You've got flowy maxi dresses, peasant tops, tunics, wide leg linen pants, or maybe distressed denim ankle boots, gladiator sandals, maybe some espadrilles, layered jewelry, fringe bags, and the wide brim hats. So those are for those moms. You like comfort, you like nature. You kind of have this whimsical aesthetic. If that's you, you're the bohemian mom. Now, what is style number four? This is vintage. Okay? This is think throwback, think about classic, but oldies. So this is nostalgic. This is charming. This is like the vintage fashion kind of draws from like the past, like the 40s, the 50s, that kind of thing. Also classic cuts, maybe some retro prints. So here are some key pieces in the vintage wardrobe. You've got the A line skirts. You got wide leg trousers, collared blouses, polka dots, florals, ginghams. Those all like to veer more towards toward vintage cat eye sunglasses, pearl earrings, vintage bags. Also the Mary Jane heels and the T strap flats, saddle shoes. These are all vintage style this. Think about like vintage shopping, like in the thrift stores, consignment stores. So this is kind of like that timeless fashion, right? You love incorporating old school charm and in your wardrobe. Now that's style number four. If that's you, you're a vintage mom. I like saying I'm a vintage mom only because I'm well into the 50s. So maybe that's how I categorize myself as a vintage mom. Okay, so number five, this is such a fun one. This is the rocker. Okay? This is edgy. This is bold. This is. This is cool. That rocker mom style is like all about the statement pieces. Maybe some darker colors, different textures, that kind of rebellious attitud. Here are some key pieces, of course, the leather jackets, right? Distressed band tees, ripped skinny jeans, black ankle boots. Or the combat boots. Love the combat boots. Platform sneakers. Also bold accessories. Think like studded belts, studded jewelry, silver chains, aviator sunglasses. Also think about more of a smoky makeup, like smokey eyes, dark lips. That is definitely, if that's you, the mom who has the bold fashion choices, a little bit of attitude in there, then you're the rocker mom. Now the last one, number six, is eclectic. I like this because this, I think is just more fun. It's like I just want to feel fun. A little bit funky maybe. So this is that kind of mix and match, fearless approach to fashion. Like, eclectic moms love the Textures, colors, styles, unique, very personalized look. Things jump out at you. So some key pieces are things like a mix of prints. Like you'll mix florals and stripes and maybe some animal prints with it. Maybe like unexpected color combinations. Maybe it's like a bright orange with like a teal, you know, like unexpected statement shoes, like bold sneakers, maybe some funky boots, colorful flats, oversized accessories. Right. Artistic jewelry, things like that. So this is for the mom who loves to express themselves through bold, creative, creative fashion choices. If that's you, you're the eclectic mom. Okay? So out of those six, think about it for a minute. Which one do you think is more like you? Okay, right now. So go ahead and think about that. But now I want you to think about this. Which style feels like me? So that's one thing. We. We moms tend to live such busy lives, busy mom, fashion school, that we forget that fashion is something that really expresses ourselves in the world. So we want to think, which style do I feel most at home? Most confident? Most like me? Sometimes we just get really. We think, well, well, I'm street wear because I wear hoodies and cargo pants. Not necessarily. And maybe, you know what? I. When I'm dressed, like, in that rocker gear, like when I have on my leather jackets and my leather boots and. And the big old sunglasses, I feel like, feel more like me. I feel confident. I feel like everybody better get out of my way today. Maybe that's you. Okay, So I want you to think about that. Which one feels more like me and expresses more of who I want to be in this world? Okay? Now that we have found our style, now we're going to find our shape. Now, shape is important because there are cuts a fashion that can sometimes accentuate your best parts. And if there's a part that, you know, maybe you don't feel too confident in. All right, then we need to learn how to emphasize and de. Emphasize parts of our bodies. So now this is only important because it makes you feel better. Like, I want you to have permission to wear anything you want to wear. Don't say, well, I'm a. I'm a pear shape, so I can't wear, you know, narrow shoulders. No, no, no. You can wear whatever you want to wear. First of all, if you need a permission slip, I'll write a permission slip. You can wear whatever you want to wear. This is to help you feel confident. Like, there are some things like that look really good on me and some things because of how tall I am or maybe how, how like flat chested. I am. It just doesn't look great. So I have to be like, no, that, that really doesn't look good on me. Chunky tops do not look good on me because my torso like this. This is what we're talking about, how to find your shape. So you can dress your shape just to improve your confidence, not for any other reason than that. So if anyone ever tells you, oh, well, you're this shape, so you must wear that, tell them get out of your way because it is whatever you want to wear. Now I will tell you about the basic shapes and what stylists say are good choices for that shape. So pear shape. Pear shape is number one. And this is a smaller top with wider hips. Now this is all about balancing proportions. Okay, so some of the tops that look good on that are anything to accentuate the upper portion of you because the upper portion of you is smaller and the bottom is bigger. So style is made to. If you want to balance out the proportions, bring volume up here and then think about slimming down the bottom so it would look like the tops are bigger. Maybe shoulder pads like I have on today. Blazers, fitted blazers, structured blouse with puff sleeves. But then thinking about the bottoms are more streamlined. Maybe a dark wash, maybe high waisted pants, a line skirts. Avoid skinny jeans because that it doesn't balance. So instead of skinny jeans, you would want maybe flare jeans. So those are some ideas as far as dresses really. The fit and flare styles that accentuate the waist. Something else accentuate the waist. Like wrap dresses too. Those work well. But again, it's just balancing proportion. Now the next is an apple shape and that's a wider midsection and then slimmer arms and legs. So the goal here is to create definition at the waist and elongate the torso. So tops like flowy tunics work well with the apple shape. Things like empire waist tops that stop right above your waist. Avoid low rise jeans. You want to go for like a higher waisted also bottoms. Think about the high rise. Like the stretchy jeans. Think about a structured joggers. Maybe avoid low rise jeans though, because it hits at a place where it's like, it kind of cuts the apple in half and it's like, no, no, we want, we want to accentuate the shape. We don't want to give it like a harsh line there. All right, dresses, wrap dresses look so good on apple shapes. Also a line dresses that just skim over the midsection. Okay. Next is the hourglass shape. So you're an hourglass shape if it's really Balanced proportions, right? It's balanced bust hips and a very defined waist. An hourglass, exactly what it says. So tops, fitted tops with a little stretch in it that always works well. Also think about square necks and also sweetheart necklines because you're showing off your assets, right. And also avoid baggy styles because baggy styles like just straight cut dresses, it doesn't accentuate the waist. So you want to make the most of your assets. And with an hourglass shape, you want to show that waist in the middle. So maybe like high waisted jeans work well for bottoms. Pencil skirts look really good. Okay. For dresses. For the hourglass shape, it always looks good to have a body skimming dress that accentuates the body. Also belted dresses look really good with the hourglass shape. Now next you have the rectangle shape. And that's just what we're talking about, a rectangle straight body, not really a defined waist. So the idea of this is let's create some curves where there aren't any curves. So tops you might want like the, the peplum tops, the ruched styles with some of, you know, it's called ruching, like you have all those wrinkles right there so you're extens accentuating your top. Also cropped jackets define the waist. And off the shoulder tops create a shape as well. Now for bottoms, you definitely want the high waisted tapered or flare legs. So you want to create a waist here. So high waisted looks really good on a rectangle shape. Also the paper bag waist where it's like, it's like the pants are loose and then you cinch in the waist with a belt that looks really good as well. Dresses again, wrap dresses, it makes, it builds like curves where there are no curves. Wrap dresses are wonderful also it's just so easy to wear dresses as a busy mom. A dress is like an all in one thing. You know, you already have the top and bottom. Put on the dress and then put all the jewelry on over it. Okay. The last body shape is the inverted triangle. So that is the, the triangle going up the broader shoulders with a narrower hip, kind of the opposite of the pear shape. So with the inverted triangle you want to soften the upper body and then add volume to the lower house. So things like scoop necks, V neck tops look really good drapey fabrics instead of really structured tops. Also for bottoms, it looks really good when you have an inverted triangle shape to have the wide leg or the flared leg pants or a line skirts because that's adding volume to the bottom part. Of your body dresses, the fit and flare styles that balance proportions. Like, here's the. Here's the top, here's the fitted, and then it flares out at the bottom. So you're creating those curves at the bottom Also. Also, tiered maxi dresses look really good because that adds volume in the lower body. So think about what shape you are. I know I've thrown out a lot of ideas and write down some of those keywords, look up some of those styles, and here's the cool thing. You can try them on. You don't have to, like, marry the clothes. You can try them on. You can, you can order some, send them back. You can go shopping at a thrift store, get some pieces, try them on, and see what you think about it. If it makes you feel confident, wear it. If it doesn't, just cross it off. But the goal of this is to give you some structure that works with your body shape. So now let's move on to finding your colors. Okay, there are five steps to finding your color. So this is what I mean. You're usually either a summer, a winter, a fall, or spring. So we're going to decide what color you are, and that way it's easier to find out what looks good on you and what kind of pulls or dulls your complexion. Okay, now step one is to determine your skin undertone. So there's either cool undertones, warm undertones, or neutral undertones, tones. So first you want to look at the veins in the inside of your arm. Outside or by a window, you want natural sunlight. And when you look at your veins, you might find that they are blue or purple. If they're blue or purple, then you probably have cool undertones. And silver jewelry looks better on you than gold. So if it's blue or purple, if silver looks better on you, then you have cool undertones. So there's like pink, blue, or red bases. And if you're a cool undertone, that means you're either a summer or winter. Now look at your veins again, and you notice that they are green in natural light. If they're green, and if gold jewelry looks better on you than silver, then you have warm undertones, which is yellow, peach, or a golden base. Now, if you have warm undertones, that means you're either a spring or an autumn. Now, what about neutral? That means it's either or both. It's a mix of blue or green or blue and green when you're looking at the natural light. And both gold and silver looks the same on you. If that's you have neutral undertones and that's just a mix of warm or cold, which means you could be any of the seasons. You have to test out colors to see which one you are. But look at your veins, look at the jewelry, and you may already be able to determine whether it's to going cool or warm undertones. Go ahead and determine that and then we're going to move on to step number two, which is to check your hair color. And I had a struggle with this. I'm like, is it the hair color that is dyed or is it the hair color that is real? So usually it's your real hair color, the one you were born with, Right. So you'll notice if it's cool tones, it's like a ashy blonde, platinum blonde or cool cool brown or jet black or cool dark brown, just no red or warm colors in it. Or if you're older or if you dyed it, silver or gray. So those cool tones, those are best for summer and winter. Same thing with the veins and the in the jewelry. Now if it's warm tones, that's golden blonde. Think about bringing on this warm hue. Strawberry blonde, honey brown, auburn, rich brown, warm copper, caramel, golden highlights, all of these. That is a warm undertone. So now you know like the cool, remember the cool tones are best for summer and winter and the warm tones are best for spring and autumn. So go ahead and determine that with your hair color, which one you are cool or warm. Okay, so now we're going to move on to step number three and checking your colors is to check your eye color. Now if you have cool toned eyes, which is blue, gray, cool green, icy hazel, dark brown or black brown, very little warmth, we're staying cool. Then that's a summer or winter. Now if you have warm toned eyes, which is golden brown, warm hazel, amber, warm green with my golden flecks, that is a spring or autumn. Okay, are you starting to narrow in here? And maybe you already know right now whether you're a spring, spring or autumn or whether you're summer, winter. Now let's find our season. This is step number four, spring. Okay, let's talk about spring. See if you fit this criteria. It's warm and light skin tones. Your skin is warm, peachy, golden or fair with warm undertones. Your hair, a light golden blonde, strawberry blonde, light brown, golden highlights, eyes, maybe they're warm green, light brown, golden hazel or bright blue. Best colors for you. Are you ready for this? Warm pastels, peaches, corals, turquoise, golden beige, camel. Now what do you avoid if you are a spring ready, avoid cool dark shades like deep blue or black. So that can kind of drain the color out of you. Now, do you know if you're spring or not? Well, let's move on to summer. Okay, this is cool in light. Now this is your skin is fair to medium with pink, rosy, or cool undertones. Your hair, an ashy blonde, light brown, or cool brunette, blue, gray, cool green, or a soft brown. Now what are the best colors for you if you're a summer? The best colors are soft pastels, lavender, powder blue, dusty rose, cool grays. Colors to avoid if you're a summer is warm earthy tones like mustard orange or warm brown. All right, now let's move on to autumn. Those are the warm and deep colors. So think about skin. This is a warm golden olive or deep peachy undertone. The hair, deep auburn, warm brown, dark golden blonde or red. Your eyes are warm brown, hazel green with golden flecks or amber. Now what do you wear if this is your season? You wear rich earthy tones like mustard olive, terracotta, chocolate brown. So those are the colors you wear if you are in autumn. Now, what do you avoid? Don't wear cool pastels or icy tones like bright white or baby blue. Now, again, you can wear whatever you want. These are just suggestions, kind of like how to form a palette that accentuates your natural color the best. All right, the last one is winter. This is the cool and deep. Your skin is fair, medium, or deep with cool undertones like pink, blue, olive hair, jet black, cool dark brown, silver, platinum blonde eyes, a dark brown, maybe an icy blue gray or an emerald green. The best colors to wear for you if you're winter are bold cool shades like true red, emerald green, cobalt blue, stark black and white. Avoid. If you are a winter, avoid the warm, muted colors like mustard, burnt orange, orange, and beige. It kind of drains you. All right, so did you find your colors awesome? Did you find your season awesome? Did you find your undertones? Let's go. Now, how do we test this out? All right, I want you to hold up fabric. Like get in front of a mirror and then hold fabric up in natural light to your face. Just drape it over your shoulder here and hold it up against your face and answer the question. Does it make you glow or does it make you look dull? Seriously, put. Put a piece of fabric, maybe you can pull a gray sweater out of your closet, put it next to your face and say, does it make me glow or does it make me look dull? That's how you know if you can fit in one of those categories or not. And that's how you know what not to wear and what to wear. So also, you can test that by trying on different shades of lipsticks. So the cool pinks versus the warm tones. See which suits you if a pink looks better or if a coral looks better. It shows whether the cool colors or the warm colors look better on you. You can find that out with your lipstick or compare the gold and silver jewelry. What brings out the best you. Makes you really glow like the girl you're supposed to be. All right, so if you're in between two seasons, just pick the one that feels more natural to you when you wear the colors. So pick out the one that is more natural to you when you put on those colors. Now remember, this is just to help you structure your style. These are not hard and fast rules. This is just. I want you to think of this as arts and craft time, okay? Think about your coloring, think about your shape, think about your size, style, and let's really narrow in on that. What makes me feel beautiful, what makes me feel powerful, what makes me glow. Because sometimes we just collect clothes. We'll just grab a piece because it was on sale or grab that because a friend had it and we like it and. And we don't really narrow in on what really puts my best face forward, what. What really describes more of who I am. So this is like deciding what your brand looks like. I want you to think of yourself as a brand, right? I can say Adidas. You know what it looks like. I can say Starbucks. And you know what that looks like when you say your name? What is the feeling you get? That's what I want you to capture. Again, no hard and fast rules. This is playtime. This is arts and crafts time. This is have fun time. And this is what we're going to do with this. Part of the program right here is we're going to learn more about ourselves. We're going to play dress up. We can even ask our kids to join our. Tell mommy what looks good, okay? And let's have a fashion show. And this is, remember, a way to enjoy you how you present yourself, the style you embody, the energy that exudes from you. Enjoy this. Have fun with this. And now it's time to go play.
