Hannah Keeley challenges mothers who label their whole day as bad, arguing one bad moment isn't the same as a bad day. She explains how a mom's brain changes after childbirth to handle multiple demands at once, then teaches a thought-work technique: ask if the bad day label is actually true, find the specific moment that triggered it, and replace that thought with something more accurate.

Hey, mama. Did you have a bad day or are you having a bad day? Well, you may or may not like my approach to it, but I promise you it'll turn the whole thing around.
Here's the big how are these average, everyday moms getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, families, homes, and have fun doing it? The trick. We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley, and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show.
All right, guys, I am taking the dog on a walk today. I will try not to breathe too heavy because I know that can create anxiety, and that's the last thing I want in your life. That's why you're listening to this, right? Okay, so let's talk about a bad day, because this happens a lot is we can just, like, get to the end of the day or even in the middle of the day, and we're like, oh, my gosh, I just want to start this day over, or what a bad day. And often we'll say that to seek consolation. We'll say that so that we can get the response, oh, you know what? Tomorrow will be a better one. You can start over. You know, the pet on the back, the rub on the shoulder. But you know me, you're not listening to this to get a pat on the back, because that's not me. That's. That's why I'm a very good coach, because I don't get into the pit with you. I pull you out of it, okay? So I'm going to show you a technique that's going to turn this bad day around. And it all happens between your ears. That's where every change starts. It's right there between your ears. When you can do the thought work, the rest of your life will take care of itself, I promise you. So this is what I want you to really understand about, quote unquote, a bad day is. I want you to ask yourself, is it really a bad day? Is that 100% true? Is it really a bad day? And you may agree, yeah, it is. It's a bad day. But first ask yourself, is this true? Is this a bad day? Is everything about this day bad? And I bet sometimes you can find some redeeming qualities. You're alive to experience it. You woke up this morning, so there's something good about it. But first ask yourself, is this true? Is this a hundred percent true? Is this day really genuinely bad? And then I want you to think for A moment. Go back. Is the day bad or was a moment bad? You see, a lot of times for moms, we go through the day on autopilot and it's totally understandable because if you've been with me for more than a week, then you know about MVPs and SCPs. See, non moms, everyone out there who.
Is not a mom.
Excuse me. Wow, really need to start cutting back. No, I'm joking. I don't smoke. Everyone out there who is not a mom are normally scps. I mean, there's a rare occasion when you're not. But they're normally SCPs, which are singular constant professionals. And what these people can do because of the way their brain is structured and their lifestyle, they can give singular. I mean, they can give. See, I can't even figure it out. They can give constant direction in a singular. Oh my gosh. See, I can't figure it out. Maybe it's just really early. They give singular attention in a constant direction. So for example, they can pay attention to one project for longer than 45 minutes. They can structure their breaks. They can say, okay, at 12:45 I'm going to take my lunch break. At 1:30 I'm going to get back to it. So these are singular constant professionals SCPs. Now, you and I would try that and we would go down in fire because you know what happens with our lives and because of the way our brain is structured. Because mom brain is real. There's actually a shrinking of the gray matter in your brain after you have a baby. And it's great because it's the way that God has helped us to be able to meet all of the demands we have as a mom. That's another podcast.

But what happens is really good. The way our brain has evolved because we can take care of the essentials. But however, it gets sometimes really confusing because we turn into MVPs multiple variable professionals, where we have multiple variables coming at us at all times. So let's say we did structure a lunch break at 12:45. What would happen? I don't know. Maybe like, a baby's diaper would explode. Someone comes to the front door, if we're working outside the home, all of a sudden, you know, the babysitter calls, her daycare calls. And, I mean, we're constantly. Our brain is all over the place. That's good. It's good because that's how our brain has evolved. But we can't necessarily put attention in a singular direction over a constant period of time. Just how we are as MVPs. Now, let's get back to the bad day thing. You're an MVP if you're a mom and you're listening to this, more than likely, probably 95% likely, that you are an MVP and you have multiple variables coming at you. You still have to be a professional, and you still have to handle all this. Now, when we live lives like that, often we live it by default because we're so consumed with putting out fires, you know, meeting demands, all those kind of things. So we don't put a lot of intention behind our thoughts. We're just kind of going through the motions. We're changing the diapers, we're making the calls, we're filing the work or, you know, doing the laundry, whatever it is. Now because of that. Okay, maybe I need to slow down. I'm either getting very excited about this or I'm super out of shape, one or the other. So what happens here is, like I said, we don't become intentional with our thoughts. We just kind of are running on autopilot, going through the motions, and all of a sudden things get confusing, something happens, and we declare, yep, it's a bad day. Do you see where I'm going with this? So maybe it wasn't a bad day. Maybe what you had was a bad moment. And that bad moment led to a change in your thought trajectory. So now you spent an additional 20, 30 minutes, 5 hours with your thoughts now in a negative direction because of this moment that happened. So I hope you're tracking with me. So let's say you got a call. Let's say you got a bill in the mail. You couldn't pay it. All of a sudden, you. Your thoughts go to, wow, we don't have enough money. I work so hard. Now we have all these bills, and all of a sudden it changes your entire outlook. You go from being positive to negative. You go from making progress to going backward. All this happens between your ears. Nothing necessarily changed about your day, but you had a bad moment. That bad moment led to a Bad thought. That bad thought led to a negative thought pattern. And now, hours later, you're still, you're still living by default and you're just going along with whatever direction life pushes you. If a good thing happens, oh, I'm happy. If a bad thing happens, oh, the day sucks. So you're kind of just going along by default. Stop still. What you have to do is pay attention. Pay attention. Because it may not have been a bad day. I guarantee not 100% of that day was bad. If you go back and really do the thought work, that's what we do here. You do the thought work. You really go back and you realize, you know what? It was one bad moment that I let consume me. Pay attention. You are in charge. You are in control. Quit living by default and you have the ability to turn that sucker around, baby. You can turn it around. You can take the bad moment, you can take the bad thought that came out of the bad moment. And then you can ask yourself, is this 100% true? Is there anything positive here? Can I think a different thought and then move in that direction? You're in charge. Pay attention. It's not a bad day. And you don't need someone to pat you on the back and say, oh, I'm so sorry. You don't need that. Sometimes you need to kick your own butt. You need to get your own mind in gear. You need to be conscious of your thoughts so that you can stop living by default and live with 100% intention. It's your day. You determine if it's good or bad. I hope this has helped you. I love you so much.
That's why I do what I do.
That's why I'm hanging out with you on this walk. And now I'm going to go speed up my walk. Breathe a little heavier. I love you. Have an amazing day. You can make it that way.
