Don't Let the Enemy Wear You Out with special guest Adalis Shuttlesworth

Hannah Keeley and Adalis Shuttlesworth discuss how Satan targets mothers through exhaustion rather than destruction, and why reclaiming a biblical identity as wives and daughters matters. Shuttlesworth runs a free women's mentorship program with over 2,600 participants and has written unapologetically biblical children's books.

All right, I'm talking to the moms today because I know a lot of moms are tuning in. They're listening, they're watching this, and we have a battle on our hands. And if you're not equipped for that battle, you're going to get overwhelmed, you're going to get exhausted. I'm telling you, if Satan cannot take you out, he's going to wear you out. So I am talking with Adalis Shuttlesworth. She's amazing. She has a heart for the family, a heart for women, and a heart for moms. You cannot miss this. Adalys, I'm so excited to have you here with me. And we are just. We're just gonna storm the gays today.
Go ahead. I'm. I'm ready. I am so honored that you would have me on this podcast. So thank you for having me.
I appreciate it. Oh, my goodness. Thank you. I know you're busy. I know you guys are doing everything under the sun, so thank you for being on. And. And I just know this is such a critical time. I believe this is a historical time for the family. Like, what are you. I want to, first of all, let. I just want you to share what you're sensing about the Kingdom of God and what's happening today in our world and in the home. You know. You know, in three minutes, I'm sure.
I know. I'm like, 30 minutes. You got 30 minutes. No, I'll. I'll summarize it by. By saying this. Jesus really is coming back quickly, and he's coming back for a strong church. Not a spot, a wrinkle on that bride. And so that's what's we are. It's literally, we're setting up for victory. We're setting up for revival. It's. It's. It's a setup, right? And so I think we're stepping into that. And what's required is for people to take their position as moms, as dads, as children of God. And so for a woman. And this is where I feel like God has put a burden for me. And I know with you, too, where we're in similar age, which, by the way, you have seven children. Yes, Mercy in the highest.
We're similar age because my kids are all grown. Like, My oldest is 31.
Wow. Amazing. You started having babies and you were like, 13.
Yeah, nine. You know, nine. First baby. And then after that, it's just.
Yeah.
People are listening. You're like, honey, did you had her first baby.
Still get it.
Okay. No, guys, I was 14. No joking again. So. No, seriously? Yeah.
So when it comes to women and, and you know, we were raised under this feministic view about, I am woman, Hear me war roar. I. I'm gonna work, I'm gonna do what's required. No man's gonna tell me what to do. I don't have to submit under anything. And it really did a number on the family. And I have friends now that I've gone to high school. They're not married, they don't have kids. You know, there's, there's. They're unfulfilled, you know, and it's not that you, you have to have those things in order to be fulfilled. I'm just saying that there's like a flawed view for women in this nation. And I felt impressed to speak to these women. I have a women's mentorship program, and it's free. And we have 2600 women that join us monthly. And it's how to become a better wife, how to become a better daughter, how to become a better woman, a better business owner. And we take Bible principles because we understand it's the word of God that is going to really help bring us back into alignment with where God wants us to be.
Right? Absolutely. Because I think you're right. I think the whole feminist movement was a. Was a well crafted strategy.
Yes.
Rob women of their femininity.
Absolutely.
Because now we so, like, degraded that role of raising children. And I don't know when I remember when I was in the throes of it, like my kids were little, and I remember so many times I would say, I, I'm doing the greatest work, right?
Yes.
Like, this is the greatest work I could do. It's exhausting, it's thankless. But God has empowered me to do something at a critical time in my life that's going to outlive me. I think that's one of the biggest mistakes that women make, is they think that their life is just theirs and. And it ends when they end. But what we do has eternal repercussions.
That's right.
Good or bad.
Right, right, Right.
Stephen, I put before you blessing and curse. Life, death, choose life. That you and your descendants.
Yes.
And I think there's so much fulfillment and so much joy that is hidden in this title of mother, wife, woman. You know, there's so much joy, but it's kind of like that treasure that is in. That's hidden in something that looks worthless. Open it. And you're like, oh, this was the hidden treasure.
That's right. Absolutely. And it's in that grind, I think, that we can get so we can as, as women, be so self deprecating and be so, especially in this social media world, we're constantly comparing ourselves to the other person that's like, has 12 kids and, you know, has a farm and she's milking the goats, you know, like making fresh bread. And then you look at that and you're like, where the heck am I? Like, I'm worthless. I, you know, and so I just, I just find it that right now, in the state that we live in, we've got to really empower these women into letting them know you are important. What you're doing matters. And although you're in the grind right now, you're still sowing good seed and you are going to reap a bountiful harvest.
Yeah.
All you got to do is just be patient and, and keep watering that seed.
And I think the, the biggest mistake that moms make is we think we need to have it all figured out. We think we need to know how. Like I believe one time I was on a walk one day. Adults, you'll get this. Yeah, I was on a walk one day and Holy spirit just interrupted me and called my attention back to the story of the talents. And he said, why did that last servant hide it? Why did you bury it? Because remember, the owner came back and he said, why didn't you at least take it to the bank?
Right?
So why did he hide it? And I said, God, tell me your wisdom. But you know, that never works. He's like, no, no, I gave you the question for you to think about. I thought about it. I'm like, okay, why would I hide it when I knew I could take it to the bank and he's eventually coming back and I would have something to show for it. Why would I put it in the ground? And I realized I would do something like that to have it easily accessible when the right opportunity opened up. So here's the. And I was like, God, he always had the intention, but never the action. He's like, yes, women today have intention but no action. And therefore they are burying their gifts and their talents because they think, oh, when I have it figured out, or I. Or when I know how mercy Jesus opens up and it is right there for us to activate and put it out there and we don't have to know how. The parable of the farmer, he's like, farmer goes out, he plants to see. He gets up day and night how it grows. He doesn't know I'm right. That and like thank you God that I don't have to know this. That's right. Perfect. I don't have to have it figured out. It's okay that I've never made a sourdough loaf that is good in my life.
Yes, exactly. It's okay that you don't have the starter kit adoles. It's all right.
And I will never get a chicken. I'm sorry. I will not unless I get it at chick fil a drive thru. I am not get a chicken, sis.
I am with you. I don't like the smells but you and it is. You know another thing that we can, we can glean out of that parable is that he went when he was confronted with the master, he said, you are a hard master. And so his perspective was off. So your perspective is everything. How you view yourself in this game is almost as important, if not more important than how you view God. Because God has given us his word.
Oh yeah.
He told you what you're capable of. Read prophets 31 and get fix on that. Like what you are capable of doing. He's not talking about multiple women here. He's talking about one individual woman and everything she's capable of doing. She's, she's full of wisdom and she's beautiful and she's fit and her children rise to give her a blessing or whatever.
And she's a businesswoman too. She's out there investing.
That's it.
Properties and operating in prudence and saying, you know what? I'm going to go where I'm sewing seed. Like, come on. Yes, on.
But we get it mixed up. We get it messed up by our perspective. You know, I had, I was listening to this guy. He's a, he's a business guy. His name's Adam Lam. And he comes to our church on Wednesday and he pulls out Matthew 22, verse 37 and 39. And he talks about like, what should we love? Like who should we love the most? And of course I say God. God. We should love God with all our heart and all our soul. He's like, yeah, obviously God has to be number one. He's like, but who is the second person that we should love the most? And so I was like, oh, John and Cam, my daughter, Jonathan, my husband. And this lady raises her hand and she's like myself. And I was like, no, dummy, it's. That's not going to be a requirement. He's like, exactly, yeah. And so the Bible says you should love your neighbor as yourself. So that's already established. You've got to love yourself. You've got to understand, first of all, first and foremost, God's love. You've got to. You, if you don't know God's love, you don't know how to love. So. And if you don't know how to love God, then you're not going to be able to love yourself. If you don't love yourself, how are you going to impact anybody? How are you going to properly love your husband? How are you going to properly love your child? So you've got to get so intoxicated with the love of God by experience and his word that it changes who you are and how you look at yourself. Or else you'll say, this is too hard, God, you've given me these children. There's so many women out there that are praying for one child. And you're like, I'm just bombarded and it's too hard. I've got three kids. And you're looking at things with the wrong perspective. Instead of saying what a blessing it is that you've given me this beautiful responsibility of raising seven children. And albeit there's, there's snot on this kid's face. This one has a poopy diaper, this one has a rash or God knows why. You know, you, you gotta look at the end game and it's, these are called to be a mighty blessing to this generation. So you've got to keep your head in the right perspective.
Absolutely you do. And that's so important that we love ourselves. I came out that program not too long ago called the Scandalous Affair. Just about self love, what that looks like. We're not taught that.
Right?
It's wrong to think highly of myself. No, it's wrong to put it all on you.
Right?
That's what the Bible's talking about. When it's like, don't think too highly of yourself. It's like, don't think you're doing all this, babe. There is power at work in you to come through you, to change everything around you. So put yourself in the right perspective. But know that, hallelujah, you are equipped, you are anointed to do something so big and so mighty that I am prophesying right now over some woman listening to this. You haven't even seen your best days. Come on, you haven't even walked into them yet. It is, it is that moment where you're like, God, I can't, but I know you can. Yes, I know. There's joy here that I've yet to discover and walk that out. Gotta respect who God has created and stop degrading yourself.
Yes.
Negative thought spiral. Satan loves to get in our heads and tell us who we are. And we got to get in the Word and know who we are. That's right. It's so important. I mean, what do you have to go back to? Otherwise you're going to hear lies of the enemy and think they're true unless you have evidence that they're not. And you're not going to get that outside of God's word.
No, not at all. And let me tell you, I. For a very long time. I started my platform ministry back in 2016. And for a while I would tell people fear is my message to the women, to the children of God. I really, like, honed in on that. And as the years evolved, I began to see with clarity that it wasn't a fear problem, it was an identity problem. Is how you view yourself with the word of God. We have been given everything we need pertaining to life and godliness. We lack no good thing. The Bible says I could literally quote scriptures all day about the potential of us as humans. But if we don't believe it for ourselves, if we can't take the time to really focus in on that and say, hey, I can do all things through Christ, but it's not my own power. Because the disciples even said, apart from you, we can do no good thing. We can do nothing. So it wasn't like we could do some things because I'm like a really good order and I have really beautiful eyes and look at these lashes. It had nothing to do with that. It was this understanding that God, apart from you, I am nothing. There's no purpose, there's no fulfillment, there's no joy. But with you, I can do it all. And so it's that understanding that we've got to get these women out of that mind frame where it's like, it's just too hard or I can't do it because of my past, or I'm not qualified because I didn't go to college or I'm too Puerto Rican or I like hoop earrings. I've tried to convince myself out of God's blessings for so many years that now when I'm. I'm here on this side of it, it ticks me off to see women struggle with. With identity.
Yeah, it makes me mad too. I just believe God is ready to walk every single person into that. That promise he has given us a desire he said, he has given us desires in our heart. So someone listening and watching today knows, like, God has given me this desire for a family that's laughing around the table together for marriage that is hot and sexy, for, like, health and vitality, for. For wealth, for abundance. And we want to, like, push it down and say, but I'm not worthy of that. And I've screwed up and I've messed up. And just like the Israelites walked into the promised land, we can see all the beauty of it. And we're like, oh, but we're like grasshoppers, because look at those giants. We. We're like grasshoppers. That's who we were in our own eyes.
Yes.
So who are you in your own eyes? Are you a grasshopper? Because, oh, it's just. I can't amount up to that. Are you looking at yourself, or are you like David looking at the God you serve? He's like, yeah, sure, I'm like a grasshopper compared to this giant Goliath. Right? But he's like, who are you? You're in.
You're not even in the same planet.
You're not even in the same league. That's right. So we've got to know we're covered. We're good for this. We're anointed for this. Stop looking at your own abilities and look at your availability and say, God, just. Just use me. Just pour it through me, because I can't.
Amen. And. And another wonderful thing about that example that you brought up is they saw themselves as grasshoppers, but it didn't stop there, they said, and they see us as grasshoppers, too.
So they created that. So.
Exactly. Because we understand later, in Numbers or Joshua, whatever the chapter is, the book, they were terrified. Their hearts are melting within them, Rahab said. So it's. It's this understanding that who you are, you project to everybody and the very outcome of your life is your projection. It's how you view yourself. So if you view yourself as a hot, sexy thing, and you're. You're dominating the business, you're dominating mommyhood or whatever, then that's what you're going to project. That's what you're going to attract. And so it's just interesting that it's so important how you view yourself. But it starts with you understanding the word. And that's my thing, like, that's my message, is get in your word. Every time I have a session, whether it's podcast, it always comes back to that, because we take the Bible Way too lightly. You know, if I, if I wanted to hire a pilot, I want somebody seasoned, well versed. I want thousands of hours clocked in, in, you know, at him flying the plane. I don't want him reading the manual every now and again when it's convenient or when he's put in under pressure like you've got to put in the time. And I feel like that, that is one thing that this generation has lost. It's this ability to connect with the Word and understand that in it is the source of power that you're looking for.
Man, you like, preach, please. Yes, we, we have devalued the Word. It's a nice tool. It's a good thing to bring to church with us on Sundays. Stop, my baby. You cling to that.
It's a coaster, baby.
That is your, that's your life source.
That's right.
That is, that's right. Your oxygen tank. And I'm putting you underwater like that's what the Word is. And if you don't know the word, another thing, you're not going to know how to create. How was the world created through the Word.
Right.
If you want to change your life, you want to create a better one, how are you going to do that? Effort.
Right?
I don't know. Maybe it works for some people. Never worked for me. It's that getting into the Word and lining up what comes out of your mouth with what comes out of God's mouth.
And Jesus. No, you really can't. Because the Bible is the language of heaven.
Yes.
So if, if you begin to speak what he says. And it's interesting because the, the Word of God is likened to a mirror and it even talks about it. Like you, you forget what you look like. So the Word of God empowers you to become and by empowering you to become, to see things with your spirit eyes, then all of a sudden you're speaking different. So you're not going to say stupid things that everybody says, like, I'm so tired. This marriage is never going to work. You know, this, this headache is killing me. You're not going to allow yourself to say those things that are contrary to what the Word says.
Okay, I got to ask you something. Yes. When you were just saying that, did it feel weird coming out of you?
I hate it.
It literally makes me even like using that joke about it. Repent. Get out. Get out of my mouth.
I can't. I, like, my armpit starts because I'm like, I'm just kidding, God.
Okay, God, we're Enclosed in a. In a cone of silence. Right.
God, like, exactly.
Just.
Just look away.
That's so funny.
Your words are power. They are quite literally building a room that you will soon walk into. So what are you building? You know, so it's like everyone, like, when you speak, there's power that comes. And whatever you line up with, if you're gonna line up with evil, evil will make sure that your word, like, you know, manifests. And the same with God's word. The angels in heaven will back you up every single time you speak faith.
Yeah.
Every single time you speak the word. And you're not a hypocrite. Here's another thing that I wish people would understand. You are not wrong when you quote God. So even though you might not feel like you're totally healed, maybe you've got, like, a crazy headache because you didn't drink enough water, you're not going to allow yourself to say things that are contrary to it. You'll just say, by his stripes, I am healed.
Right.
I am healed of the Lord, whatever that might be.
Right.
And you're not a liar. You're not a hypocrite in saying that. You're always right. Quoting the Bible. That's why you got to stick with it.
Yeah. Yeah. And I think sometimes we're like, we think we're a liar. You know, but.
Right.
How can I look at a insufficient funds notice in the mail? How can I look at a negative balance and say, God supplies all my needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus? Thank you. I'm well supplied to do every good work and for every charitable contribution. And we think, am I just, like, blowing smoke up my butt? Like. Like, I'm. I'm sorry I'm so unfiltered.
No, it's.
So am I giving. Okay, good, good. But that's where we think it's like, this isn't. I don't believe it. And the thing that we have to understand is facts always have to bow to truth.
Yes.
And so when you're looking at evidence around you, you might be looking at. You might be feeling the headache. Right? You might be looking at the weight on the scale. You might be looking at insufficient funds. I also, people, you're looking at the past. That's just a manifestation of the past. You're just. Let's go. And those are the facts. Is talking about the past. Now, what comes out of your mouth has to be about your future. And you're building it like you are a prophet. You are prophesying you're building with every word. It's a brick walking you into this path. Yes. Where you want to go.
So that's right.
And create. Like, I, like, I had to work on that because I remember, like, speaking out God's word and like, I know too much to like, say I'm rich because I am so poor.
Like, literally.
Kids are like, mom, rice and beans again.
Right? Again, for real.
And so it's like, all right, I have to be careful. And I could never say things like, I can't afford it. I would say, you know what? Right now, we're. We're not. We're not spending our money that way.
That's it.
Right now.
I can tell you, for me, myself, I had to walk myself and through finances too, where I wasn't gonna allow myself to say, I can't afford that because that's a terrible confession.
I can't say that.
I just said, I'm coming back later. Right, exactly. If. If my father. If I believe that my father owns all the silver and all the gold in the cattle of a thousand hills, why would I line myself up against that? You know what I'm saying? The reality is I might not have access to it right now. And so I'm coming back for you. There's more where that came from. I would tell people that often when it was my last $20 bill, there's more where that came from. And they'd be looking at me like, what? But it was a declaration of faith for myself to come into alignment with what the word of God said. And before you know it, your bank account begins to tell you, yeah, you are prospering. You are. You are rich. You are the head and never the tail, you know? So you've got to just stay with it and be so one sided that the word of God is truth. This is the interesting thing about the world.
Do the work.
The Word will do the work. Exactly. Because the Word ultimately is the truth. It's the every truth. We see all these guys coming down this truth river, and it all leads to one place. It's the word of God, you know? And so when we see the likes of Joe Rogan and Theo Vaughan and all these other guys or whatever, if you follow truth long enough, it'll bring you to the word of God. So it works. So why not stay there? Why not have it guide you? It's so important to be in the Word.
Yes. Yes. And not to get discouraged as you are battling with the Word as.
Yes.
Sword play. You can't get Exhausted, right? Because, like, every word is a seed.
So.
And I think some people today think that, you know, they just want this chia pet anointing. Like, they're going to walk in, it's going to be okay. Now I have, like, this. This Afro, right? Because it works overnight. Sometimes it does, right? God.
I have.
I am prophesying. God will put a chia Pet anointing over the seat of his word. But sometimes, like, I'm not building a chia pet. I'm building an oak. I'm building. Yes, that's powerful and will stand the test of time. And we'll pass down through generations. So do not grow weary in this battle. We can't grow weary because we. I always think, you know what? And this. This is for moms who. They're looking at the laundry. They're looking at the clutter. They're looking at the bills, they're seeing the poopy diaper. And they're like, all right, I. I can do today.
Yes.
I can. I can do today. I can speak the word out today. I can do the. Do the faith walk today. I can be kind today. I can speak with softness today. Yes.
Yeah.
Think about it right now.
I wish that more people would get that says, I really do. Because people frustrate their faith by putting things off for the future. You have today. That's all you have. That's all we can work with, is.
Just like, why are you even tomorrow? Like, right. Why are you even there right now? Why are you camping out there?
Exactly.
Is today not enough for you?
It is actually. Today is the day of salvation.
Today.
Today. It's always about the now. Now faith is today. Today. Get it done today. So if you start making those micro moves, just even by saying to yourself, you look beautiful today, and we all know you need to slap on that make. But you, you're pushing through and you're like, this is. You look gorgeous today. You are God's masterpiece. You are the head. You're never the tail. I have a declaration with my daughter every time I bring her to school. And she declares things from the word even though she doesn't feel it. She's exhausted, she's tired. She does. She's got a zit on her forehead, whatever it might be. We're going to push through that because we're going to make sure that we're declaring these things every day, because all we have is today. Today counts. So it's those little things going out for a walk for 15 minutes and, okay, so you can't go to the gym for an hour and lift £150. So what? You could go for a walk. Start there, you know, and it's these little tiny micro moves that before you know it, in a month's time, you've moved so far, so powerful today, they're deceptive.
The micro movements are deceptive because you think you're not doing anything, but you are doing something so powerful. Even if it's training myself to be obedient.
That's it.
Right?
That's so good.
Yeah. So many problems.
It really. It really does. It matters what you do today. You got to put yourself in alignment. And really. Because I know you feel the same way about this as I do. Like when you encountered God and you were in the thick of it and you had the pile of laundry and the kids were crying, and you're like, what am I gonna do? He didn't come and do the laundry for you. He said, you do something about it. Yeah, I'm gonna take you to Romans and then you're gonna read that and see. See how you've got to renew your mind and you've got to take the steps out of that mess, start developing systems and do what has to happen. Because I've given you the mind of Christ and you can do all things. And so that's how it worked for you. You started seeing your potential and. And taking the onus and responsibility that is due you. No one else is going to do it for you. No one else is going to raise those kids the way you're gonna raise them. Right. So then start, you know, so it's manning up to the. To the, you know, responsibility. I've got a part to play. Forget about the excuses. I wish more people would just be like, excuses are not allowed. What are we going to do today? And it would be like, let's go for a walk. Let's have a salad. Let's read a chapter. You know, it starts with something that you do.
You can do it. We have a hoodie and it says, mom up. It's just like, come on, just step up today. You can step up today, Alice. I feel like we could just. We could just continue this for hours. I love your energy. I love your message.
Same.
If you could give mom, like, there's an overwhelmed mom who is listening to this. She's in her car, she has to turn it up because the kids are so loud in the back. What would you tell her? What is the message you can give her today before we wrap it up?
I would say you are stronger than you think you are. You are empowered by God and he's equipped you. He's. He's fully equipped you. You lack no good thing. And I want to get you to understand that with clarity that you are God's masterpie and that he has a beautiful plan for your life. And don't give up. Just like you had made mention a couple minutes ago. Don't grow weary and well doing because there is going to be an appointed time where you are going to reap a wonderful harvest. You are going to see that reward come to pass. It's just now in the nitty and the gritty and in. In the disciplined lives that we live that it's really difficult to see past it. But soon enough you're gonna see all of that come into manifestation. And so don't give up, don't quit. Get in your word, speak life. Love yourself like you love God and everything will be well.
I think we need to pass the plate and have an altar call.
Amen.
Preach, sister.
Thank you.
Yeah.
And if you don't know the Lord, you need to get right with the Lord because he's coming soon, brother. And yeah, you gotta get Jesus.
Yeah. I love it. Tell people about again about your mentorship program.
The mentorship program is totally free. So if you want. And I tell this to all the people here. I don't if you want some sappy sad story and Kleenex being passed around. We ain't that kind of group. Okay. We're gonna with you even more. No, honestly, we're not. I'm not gonna, I'm not going to coddle you. I'm going to give you a pow. Pow. That's what we do. A disciplinary action. And we're going to bring to light the problems. It's. You don't have a marriage problem. You're just being a jerk. And we're just going to be real about the situation.
My soul sister.
Exactly. So we've got 2600 women already doing that and it's free. We just meet twice online and we keep in communication. We. We meet a couple times a year at our rain conference or Radiances Radiance conferences. And then I've got a series of children's books that I wrote. And it's to not be politically correct because one of the things mentioning David and Goliath, this one's in, in, in Spanish it's called Pharos. But this is the, this is the English version. This is fierce. But one of, one of the things that I hated when I was looking for literature for CAM at 1 and 2 years old was that everything had this political correctness. David was afraid and he had fright lines. And I was like, let me. Let me look at the Bible and see. David was not afraid. You know, David ran after Goliath, the Bible says. And so these are a series of books. We've come out with four. And they are the no nonsense, unadulterated word of God without any political correctness. And it's. It's for the betterment of your children. Listen, your children need to know the word of God.
Yeah.
Now more than ever, they've got to align themselves to truth. Look at us. We're. We're now in our late 20s, and we understand that we need. We need the word of God. We need the truth. And so we've got to implement that in our homes and in our children's lives. So that's it for me, though. Thank you for having me so much.
Oh, my goodness. This has been so powerful. Guys, tune in. Get in her program. Keep following her. You're going to be blessed like crazy.
