So today I'm going to share with you my totally embarrassing Chick Fil a breakdown. And I also want to talk about why you need to sometimes trust your gut when it comes to food and how to get over this ridiculous food guilt. Here's the big question. How are these average, everyday moms? How are getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, families, homes, and have fun doing it? The trick? We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley, and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show. Okay, so here's the story. I'm actually coming home from a Costco trip and looking at the stuff I bought. I was like, man, like, four ago, I would have never bought this kind of stuff. Like, it's all the organic meats, coconut oil, avocados, no rice, grain sugar, pancake mix, like I used to buy years ago. And I want to talk with you about how I got out of that whole food guilt, because I used to have a lot of problems with emotional eating and overeating. How I got over that and how I fell into my natural body. And y', all, I'm telling you, I'm not. I don't get hungry. I have tons of energy, and I finally have the body that I've always wanted. And I'm never. I was used. I used to never be happy with my body, and finally I am. And if you ever suffer with cravings and emotional eating and food guilt, I'm going to make you feel a lot better today. And I'm also going to give you some tools to use, because I believe that God gives us wisdom. He gives us wisdom when it comes to our bodies, which is his temple. His temple. That's what our body is. It's not our temple. It's his temple. And we need to learn how to care for it appropriately. And he'll give us wisdom. But sometimes the world just. It just twists and misconstrues and warps that whole natural wisdom till we start falling into this weird, emotional food battle. And I was in that for a long time. I really struggled. I was a vegetarian for over 20 years, y', all, and I believed, you know, eating animals is wrong. And, I mean, that's fine if you're a vegetarian. Awesome. Like, I support you. I got your back. I was a vegetarian for over 20 years, and I thought, you know, all of that, all that cholesterol and, you know, it's bad for your health, but it's also, like, bad for the environment. I didn't know I was actually participating in the problem with what I was eating, which was a very high carbohydrate diet. I was the one who was making pancakes and muffins every single day. Day. And I didn't know why. I struggled with bloating, asthma, weight gain. Couldn't understand it because I tried to keep it in check. But you know, you get cravings, right? Well, one day it all. I just. I broke down and it was embarrassing. And I swore I would never tell anyone this because it was so humiliating for me. But I'm going to tell you because I feel like If I'm not 100% honest with you, then I'm not helping you at all. So this day when I swore no one is going to know what I just did. Yeah, I'm coming clean. I'm sharing that with you today. So here's the deal. I was at one of my kids plays, okay? Play. They would be so mad if I said play. I'm sorry. Musicals. Because they are in musical theater. I was at one of their musicals and they always sell Chick Fil A at because they're one of the sponsors at their musicals. I had not eaten chicken in. I mean, I was fine with the bready part, but I wouldn't eat the chicken. I had not eaten chicken or any kind of meat in over 20 years. I believe it was like 23 years. And I don't know if it was like that. You know, you hit 4:45 and something happens with your hormone levels or what, but y'. All, oh, my gosh. I could not. I was smelling those Chick Fil? A sandwiches and I was like, oh, my gosh, that smells so good. And I had to have one. Like, it wasn't like, I really. I don't know why, but I'm craving one of those Chick Fil A sandwiches so bad. It wasn't like that. It was like, I will either kill somebody and eat their leg or I'm going to have a Chick Fil? A sandwich. It was so bad. And so I went and bought one. And I even said, as if it even mattered to the person. I even said, I'm gonna get one of these sandwiches for my daughter. Like, what a liar. I was getting it for me. I bought a sandwich and I went outside. Now, remember, I had not eaten meat in over 23, 23 years. I believe it's around that I went outside in the parking lot where no one was around, and I didn't politely eat that Chick Fil A sandwich. I ate that Chick Fil a sandwich. Like someone was coming after me to kill me. And I like, scarfed that sucker down. Like, oh my gosh. It was the best tasting thing I'd ever had in my life. And I cannot explain. My body's reaction to that was like. It was like a sigh of relief. And like I said, I don't know if it's hormone levels or what, but at that point I realized maybe the way I'm eating is contributing to the problem instead of helping it. And I started doing some research and I started incorporating. I was so embarrassed today and I was like, no one can catch me eating this. Like it was some kind of like. Like I was. It was like I was smoking pot in the parking lot or something. I was like sneaking this Chick Fil a sandwich. But my body felt so good. Like it. It. It was like it just had this energy kick. It was like a relief. It's like a sigh of relief. That's the only way I can describe it. So like I said, I started doing research and started re researching a more holistic diet in balance with the world, with our Earth. Because the way we have been eating for millions of years was always, you live off the land. If there's buffalo on the land, you kill the buffalo, you eat it. The buffalo eats the grass. It keeps the soil healthy, keeps the grass healthy, keeps the animal healthy, keeps the people healthy. And the whole thing with like grains and starches and stuff, that is a very, very recent introduction into the human diet. We, for like millions of years, we weren't an agricultural society. We weren't growing wheat and corn and soybeans. We were living off the land. So I started doing research and I started getting like organic chicken, wild caught fish. And I cut out all grains, I cut out sugar and, you know, wouldn't eat fruit as much. Maybe, you know, maybe one piece of fruit a day and a lot of vegetables and started adding a bunch of fat. Because if you look, that's how we ate. We ate like lard or tallow or, you know, the marrow. The. We used the animal and we ate all the fat, the avocados and stuff like that. So I started like, really increasing. It's more like keto diet, like a paleo keto diet. I don't like to compartmentalize things because I don't like restriction, but I basically cut out grains, I cut out sugar, reduced fruit and. And started eating like healthy meats and healthy fats and healthy vegetables. I can't even explain it's. Like I started aging backward. Like, I remember having aches and pains. I would never say anything about it. I would just speak healing over it, you know, in my knees and my joints. None of that now. Like, absolutely zero. There's no joint pain at all. And I just realized, like, I haven't thought about it, but I. I haven't had any of that at all. Bloating, totally gone. I used to feel so bloated. Bloating is gone. Never. I never, ever, ever have a headache. There's a very rare occurrence when I do have a headache, and it's always the day before my period. I can tell. But the day before my period starts, I get, like, a mild headache. That's weird, isn't it? It's weird, but I can always tell. And I'm in the wrong lane. Hold on, let me get over here. But so anyway. No, no, no, that's the right lane. That's the right lane. I'm in the right lane. Okay. Sorry about that. So anyway, it's like I started aging backwards. And my asthma. I used to have allergies and asthma, totally gone. And of course, like, extremely resistant to disease. Like, my immune system is so ironclad. Like, I don't. I don't care what you're carrying. I don't care what you got. You can, like, spit in my face. You can cough all over me. Like, I will not get anything and a ton of energy. And why I want to share this with you is I think a lot of the emotional eating is because we try to stick with some kind of structure. We try to just eat one cookie, you know, or we try to not get seconds on the baked potatoes, or. And we live by these rules and regulations. We try to stick to the point system, or we try to try to stick to the calories, or. But what we're doing is, I think, like, I am not a food scientist. I just think we have the whole thing backward, really. Instead of eating the way our body is naturally designed to eat, we're trying to twist the system and somehow put imposing rules on the way that we eat. And it's kind of like the legalism that Jesus came to set us free from. Because when we're so, you know, that. That was that. That old covenant, you know, the old covenant in the church where, oh, you sinned. Well, you got to come sacrifice one lamb. It's got to look like this. Oh, this kind of sin, okay, that's going to require two doves plus a goat. I mean, yet, like, so Legalistic. And Jesus came to set us free from that old covenant and give us a new covenant where there is freedom through our relationship with him. And you're wondering, Hannah, how can you tie an embarrassing breakdown at Chick Fil a in with some kind of Jesus thing? Because Jesus gives free freedom. And it's not like he just gives us freedom in one area. He gives us freedom in every single area. And why this is so important is because your body is not showing. Okay, I want to say this right. The way your health is right now is not revealing a problem with your body. It's revealing feeling a problem with your mentality and your behavior. And what we think we behave according to what our belief system is. And if we believe that eating should be hard and it's rigorous and food is the enemy, and we're slipping into that old system that Jesus freed us from, if we can celebrate the freedom we have and just eat the way he designed our bodies to eat, there is so much freedom there. I don't count ketones or. I mean, I know there's a time when you need to do that, like if you're dieting or something. I mean. I mean, I tried to change your eating habits, but I hate the word diet. I mean, the first three letters are die. Come on. But if you're trying to, like, do a radical change and go, you know, put your body into ketosis, I understand you need to measure things, but if you live in such a way that everything has to be measured, food is no longer a joy. There's no longer freedom in that. And I think food God gave us. He says in His Word, he gave us all things to enjoy. So food is included in that. So enjoy the delicious natural foods, the delicious meats and stews and vegetables and. And learn new ways of cooking. Celebrate food. Instead of hating on your body and feeling guilty and doing stupid things like having a emotional breakdown over a Chick Fil a sandwich, give yourself the freedom and grace and listen to your body. Because here's the deal. If you, like, have so much body hate and so much legalism with your. With your food, there's no joy there. And nothing good can come out of a place of hate. I want you to reach your optimum health in everything. In your finances, mentally, emotionally, in your marriage and your home. Everything. But if you don't have that physical health, everything else is going to be a struggle. So I'm just. I want to encourage you today, maybe step back and take another new look at the whole eating process. Have you been culturalized to think that a box of cereal because it says whole grain is good for you, like, do some research. Also, there's a great documentary. I'm just going to put a plug for it out here because I think it's awesome. It's called the Magic Pill. It was an amazing documentary and it kind of like summed up this whole, you know, process of me stepping back and saying, well, why do I eat like that? Why have I put these. These restrictions on my diet and why do I feel bad about it? And it kind of made me take a second look. And so this is a great documentary that kind of sums it up. And I'll make sure I put a link inside my podcast and inside the blog. I love you so much and I just want to share that and just be totally real and share with you.
