In this solo podcast episode, Hannah Keeley argues that high emotional drama diminishes a mother's intelligence and ability to respond effectively. She distinguishes reactive knee‑jerk emotional responses from thoughtful, responsive actions, explaining that moms often operate as "MVPs" (Multiple Variable Professionals) juggling many simultaneous demands. Keeley asserts that lacking specific "mom skills"—such as routine management, home maintenance, and emotional regulation—leads to drama and reduced cognitive function. She promotes skill acquisition through coaching, specifically her Mom Master University, and offers a free "Mom Show Starter Kit" (time‑management program, faith‑based meditation, and manifesto) via thatmomshow.com or a text prompt. Throughout, she uses personal anecdotes, practical examples (e.g., programming a thermostat), and frequent calls to action to encourage listeners to seek training and reduce drama in their lives.

Okay, I need to tell you something super duper duper important. That was two dupers. So, you know, it's really important. And here it is. When emotions get high, intelligence gets low. I'm going to explain everything in today's podcast. Here's the big question. How are these average, everyday moms getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, family, families, homes, and have fun doing it? The trick? We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show. Okay? So when emotions get high, intelligence gets low. This is something that I see moms struggle with so much. I had my fair share of struggle, thank you. Just the drama, oh, my goodness, so much drama. Whenever things didn't go my way, which was a lot of the time for a lot of reasons. First of all, I didn't have any coaching. I didn't have the skills. I wasn't applying myself, I wasn't learning. Like so many things I could say, oh, it was because we weren't making any money, and it was because I was living in the hood and it was because I was fat and it was because the kids were unruly and, oh, I could blame everything outside of me. But the truth of it is, when I first started out in this motherhood journey, I was overwhelmed, as you can get, because of what was going on in my head. I did not have the skills to manage myself. I didn't know how to set up routines. I didn't know how to take care of the house. I didn't know how to manage my emotions. And I just had a really whacked out perception of what reality should be. It should always be going my way. And when it didn't, something was wrong, something was bad wrong. I had a lot of emotion. And thank God for a wonderful husband who will stick with you through thick and thin because I'm sure it wasn't easy to. To see me have to cry, you know, uncontrollably sobbing, not knowing, like, what was wrong. I just knew my life sucked and I couldn't fix it, or having an anxiety attack or being depressed. I. All that, this emotional garbage that I was carrying around with me, all because I didn't have the mental skill set. And it is a skill set that you can learn to create, create a better attitude, create more success, to start being more productive, to start just living a successful life, really. And as a result, the emotions constantly were up and down, up and Down. And here's the truth of it. You need less drama and more mama. And what I mean by that is you don't need the drama. Whenever you feel yourself, you getting emotional, Feeling frustrated, feeling angry, feeling taken advantage of, feeling disrespected, feeling shameful, I mean the whole myriad of negative emotions. When you start going down that path, understand that when you allow the drama to step in and just relinquish your control, basically opening up your soul and saying whatever the world wants to stick in there, come on, like I'll take it. And that's what you're doing. When you allow yourself to go down these negative emotional spirals, that's what they really are. You're opening up your soul to let whatever circumstances the enemy wants to throw at you just to receive it and to immediately react emotionally. Notice please, that I said react, not respond. There's a big difference. When you react, it's just kind of that knee jerk gut impulse. When you respond, you're allowing yourself to consider your options and make a good decision. But a lot of moms are stuck in this reactive mode where something happens in our lives and we just react to it emotionally. One of our kids can, you know, potty training our kids and they poop in their pants when we're out in public. And we just respond emotionally. We just, I'm sorry, not respond. React emotionally. Bring in the drama. Let me weep and cry and yell at my kid and that's going to really fix the situation. Or our husband does something to really frustrate us and we just fly off the handle and we start doing all the emotional reactions, the silent game, the nagging, the yelling, we. I could go down the list. You know what I'm talking about, the emotional response, the drama. And when you're stuck in the drama, what you have done is you have dumbed yourself down. Emotions are good for this purpose, to expose what we're thinking. God gave us emotions for a reason. It is the energy that we communicate with. It's our energy. Like we communicate verbally with words, we communicate energetically through emotions. So God gave us these emotions to empower us, to equip us, to make us just completely experience being human. Which I'm grateful for. Because as much as we hate grief and anger, think about how much we love gratitude and excitement and humor. I mean, think about, I want the whole human experience. But here's the deal. When we go down the negative pathway, those negative emotions, when we allow ourselves to get sucked into the drama, our intelligence goes down. We cannot respond intelligently when the drama is at a high level. You just can't. You have relinquished yourself to becoming an utterly emotional creature instead of a rational creature. And moms are especially susceptible to this because we are MVPs. And if you've been hanging out with me for any time at all, you know what an MVP is. It's a multiple variable professional. It is a woman, typically a mom, who has multiple variables coming at her at all times. Yes. She still has to maintain a professional execution. She still has to be a professional. Even the multiple variables. A kid needs to go to the potty, the phone's ringing, we have to return an email. We have so many things going on and it's all around us. So we have to deal with these multiple variables now because of this, because of being an MVP and not an scp, which is a singular constant professional. An SCP deals with singular things in a constant manner. They're not continually interrupted in their life or in their thinking. We are. And then we're like, I must have add. I must have, you know, short attention span. I can't focus. No, you're an mvp. It's cool. We get each other. But what happens is, because of our lifestyle, we won't get the skills we need to manage our life demands effectively. And when you don't have the skill, you react with emotion. Hey, mama. We'll get right back to the podcast, but did you know there is an entire online university just for moms? If you're ready to get radical results in your life, just go to mommastery.com, that's M O M M A S T E-R-Y dot com. Make sure you check it out and take your free quiz again. That's mommastery.com m o m m a s t e r y dot com. Now back to the podcast. Think about this. Okay, so if I, I'm in my house, let's say it's 96 degrees outside, which is not abnormal for Virginia in the summer. 97. We'll pump it up to 98. We'll say 98 degrees. And the air conditioner, I don't know how to program the air conditioner. I don't know how to set the thermostat. Would I be emotional? Heck yeah. Like, you do not want a middle aged woman in a house that is anything above like 75 degrees. Okay? I'm just saying I would be emotional. I'd be like, oh, my dear Lord, I'm sweating bullets. I'm so hot. Oh my Gosh, I'd be. I'd be like, let's go to the mall. Let's go to Target. Like, let's get out of here. I would be emotional. Here's what happens in our life. Things happen that are to some extent out of our control. Although I believe more is really in your control than you realize, sometimes things will happen and we don't have the skill to manage the current demand in the current situation. So we'll get all emotional and make it 10, 20, 100 times worse because it steps in the drama and out goes the brains. Think about now. If I were in my house, I don't know how to program it, but all of a sudden I had the skill to program the thermostat, to program the air conditioner. I could just go over there, beep, beep, boop, boop, boop, boop. Programs like a robot. We'll just say it's like a Star wars thermostat, okay? The Star wars air conditioning system, okay? So I go there and I program my Star wars air conditioner because I've got the skill, right? I read the instruction manual. I watched YouTube videos. I know how to do it. So I go over there, beep, boop, boop, boop, boop, 68 degrees, and the air conditioner starts pumping out. And I'm happy because I had the skill to manage the situation. That's what you need to be as a mom. You need less drama, more mama. Get your mom skill. Game strong. And that doesn't just happen by hoping you can raise good kids or trying to figure out how to get the house clean before someone shows up for dinner, or, you know, trying to do, you know, trying to lose weight by doing the latest trendy diet. That doesn't happen that way. That's not skin skill. That's like a shot in the dark. And you don't need luck. You need skill. You need if you're a mom, and I don't think you'd be listening to this if you weren't a mom, but you need the skill to manage the unpredictable nature of your life so that when things happen when your kid poops in his pants and you're out at the mall, or when the washing machine breaks and it's flooded over or. Or when the house is messy and you just don't even know where to start, part of not knowing where to start is you don't have the skills to manage it. Get the skills. Get the skills to manage your emotion in regards to parenting. Get the skills to Manage when emergencies come up, get the skills to manage routine maintenance of your home and your life and your relationships and then you don't have to deal with the drama. I don't want you living that high drama life because I promise, when the drama goes up, the brains just fly away into the night. Because you can't respond intelligently when you're reacting emotionally. Oh, wow, that is like tweet worthy. Somebody tweet that and I will definitely give you a shout back. But you can't, you cannot respond intelligently when you're reacting emotionally. So understand this. You. You've got a lot to do with your life. I know if you're listening to this and if, and if we're friends on, on, you know, social media and if you've been following me. You, I know you. I know that you have a dream inside of you. I know you want more for your life. I know you love your family. And I know, I know that sometimes you may put yourself last because somewhere in that warp thinking is, that's what a mom does. But here's what you got to know when you're putting yourself last. You're not getting the skill, you're not getting coached, you're not getting the training. You're not getting what you need to be the most effective, intelligent mom for your kids, wife for your husband, leader for people who come into your circle of influence. God wants to do something huge in your life and you can't do that if you're an emotional wreck, if you're constantly living in the drama. So here's what I suggest. Give the drama a break. Get plugged in. If you're not being coached, please get a coach. I, I'm a mom coach. That's what I do. I love it. And we have Mom Master University. If you're, if you're not inside Mom Master University girl friend, what are you doing? There is. It's. I, I'm not even gonna go down that road because it's so much. I couldn't even talk about all of it. That's where you get the training that you need to be the best. Not just mom, but the best woman, the best version of you, the one that God has ordained for you to be since the beginning of time. He has something, he has greatness planned for you. But you can't do that if you're struggling with your emotions. If you are inside Mom Master University, and I can. You can always tell if you're like pulling out of training when you start getting more emotional and when things start to slide. So plug in, plug in, plug in. Listen to the trainings, get the coaching. Tune in live when we do our coachings on Friday mornings. Get in there so you can get the skill you need so that you're not constantly dealing with the. The drama. Look, I love you. And that's why. That's why I'm reaching out with this podcast episode. Because I know what it feels like. I know what it feels like to feel incapacitated with the drama. And that's not the life that God has for you. He gave you emotions to understand your mind and also to celebrate life. Let's have the emotions that actually inspire and enliven us and let's just kiss the drama goodbye. You don't need that in your life. What you need is skill. You need that mama. Skill. Less drama, more mama. I hope this has blessed you and I hope it's encouraged you to really step up your game and to get that mental fortitude that you need to be the best version of you. I love you.
