The Care & Keeping Of A Palace: Part 2
10 May 2024 · 32 min
In this solo coaching episode for Mom Mastery University, Hannah Keeley frames the home as a "palace" and invites mothers to adopt a royal identity rooted in biblical truth. She introduces the "faith formula"—thoughts shape feelings, which drive actions—and debunks two common lies about emotions: that they are final and that they are faulty. Keeley then outlines five "palace emotions" mothers should cultivate: gratitude (the highest energy, supported by Psalm 104 and 2 Chronicles 20), rest (a clutter‑free, Sabbath‑like environment drawn from Hebrews 4), freedom (a judgment‑free home grounded in Romans 8), entitlement (a positive royal priesthood mindset from 1 Peter 2:9), and love (sacrificial motherly love echoed in John 15:13). For each emotion she explains how it feels, its biblical basis, and practical ways to practice it in the home. She also discusses the concept of "promotion vs. placement," emphasizing that gratitude leads to divine promotion. Throughout, Keeley interweaves personal anecdotes, motivational language, and a promotional call to enroll in Mom Mastery University, highlighting its extensive coaching resources and vault of content.

Oh, to be a queen. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Think about it. Living in your palace, having your kingdom, your domain, ruling that area. Well, guess what, sweetheart? You are a queen. That's right. Wouldn't it be nice to just live in a palace, have your own palace working for you and, and creating that beautiful space? Well, guess what, baby? Your home could be your dream home. Now, we talked in the last coaching session in part one about how to change your thoughts. So you're thinking more of these palace thoughts. And now we're going to move on to how to feel more of the palace emotions. That's right. Because all of this training is based upon the faith formula, which we know you can't change your life until you change your mind. Right? The mind is the best investment. That's why you're here, inside Mom Master University. And if you are not a member Inside Mom Master University, what are you doing? This is not all of it. We want you to get inside to get that extended work, work with the coaches, tune into the live group coaching and get access to your vault. I promise it'll change your life. So what are palace emotions? Right. So we learned about thinking palace thoughts and now we're talking about how to feel like a queen, how to feel like you're living in a palace. Because if you don't have the feeling, guess what? You're not going to do anything because a palace is dependent upon who cares for it. Right? Have you ever seen those pictures, like in documentaries or, or on, you know, just images on your computer of these, like, beautiful castles that have not been taken care of and they're like in ruins, right? Well, guess what? You can be living in a palace and it can be in ruins. And if you are not caring for it effectively, but before you can take care of it, you have to work with the thoughts that are going to result in the feelings that are going to show up in what you do. So let's go to these feelings and I want to share. Have you ever played the game like two truths and a lie? It's a game sometimes that you play at, like an icebreaker, where everyone sits around and they share two truths about themselves and one lie, and you try to guess which one is the lie. So we're going to, like, reverse that a little bit and I'm going to share with you around your feelings. Two lies and a truth. So let's take. Let's take these two lies. The first lie is feelings are final. That is not true. Feelings are not final. I want you to get that really dialed in. The way I feel is not final. Sometimes people can feel so much worry, so much overwhelm, so much stress, so much hopelessness, right? They're like, oh, my God, it just feels so final. It feels like you'll never get out of it, that you're going to be trapped forever and. And just that hopelessness really sinks in. But I want you to know, like, I felt basically every emotion out there. What I can tell you is they don't stay around, they don't hang around forever. Things change. Things will always transform. You will always get through it. Think about it. You are watching this or listening to this right now. That means you have made it through 100% of your worst day days, baby, you did that. Like that weekend celebrated. That's pretty impressive, right? You made it through 100% of your worst day. So we know, okay? A situation will always change. It's not going to stay this way. And this feeling is not final. The feeling will change as well. It may feel final, but that's a lie. Remember talking about the lie? Feelings are not final. Now there's another feeling. There's another lie. Sorry. And that lie is feelings are faulty. That I'm at fault for feeling bad. I'm feeling shame. I'm feeling guilt. I'm feeling worry. I'm feeling stress. And I'm at fault for that. I shouldn't be feeling that. That's not true. That's a lie. I want you to get this dialed in right now. Feelings are not faulty. Okay? Just because you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, it doesn't mean you're like a bad person, or you're like, choosing fear over faith, or you're disappointing God because. Or you're angry and you shouldn't be angry. And now you're like, God's mad at you. Like, no, there's no fault there. Okay? So get this really down in you. That is a lie. Feelings are not faulty. So those are the two lies. Feelings are not final and feelings are not faulty. Now we're going to talk about the truth. You ready for this? Feelings are feedback. That's it. Feelings are just feedback. It's just there to tell you what you're believing so you remember what what you think becomes. What you feel becomes, what you do becomes what you have. It's the thing feel do have. That is our faith formula that we always use inside Mom Master University and inside Covenant Coach Academy. But I want you to get this. If I, like, if I didn't have feelings, I wouldn't know what I was thinking. God gave me feelings so I could know my heart, so I could change it if I wanted to change it. So some people just kind of want to feel mad and they just want to camp out there. Now that's. We can't learn to tolerate feelings. We have to learn to listen to them, to learn from them, to take them as feedback, to perhaps change the way we think so we can change the way we feel, so we can show up and change what we're doing, so we can actually change what we are living with, what we have. So if you want to change your life, it starts in the thoughts. But how do you get to a thought? You have to be able to analyze the feeling. So it's. There's no fault and it's not final. It's just feedback. Feelings are just feedback. It's just showing me what I'm thinking. So let's go to these thoughts that can determine how to create your palace. And I want to share with you something about emotions. Did you know you can measure emotions is pretty cool? Like you can. You can actually measure the energy that is coming out of someone with an emotion they're feeling. There's a lot of ways that emotion shows up in your life. It shows up in how your skin changes. It shows up in your blood pressure. It shows up with. In your heart rate. It shows up with a lot of different things in your body. So you can actually measure emotions. And did you know that one of the highest emotions, right, is gratitude, but guess what? One of the lowest emotions is shame. So we're gonna right now Decide that we are no longer holding mom guilt over any area in our homes. Okay? And you know what I'm talking about. Shame feels like I'm a bad mom. I'm a bad homemaker. I'm a bad person because look at all that laundry stacked up. Look at all the socks I haven't sorted. Look at all clutter on the stairs. Look at all the. The broken toys. Oh, my. My kid fell on the bike and skinned his knee because I wasn't there to fill up the tires and do all the maintenance. And, like, you just name it. Like, moms are so clever about creating all different types of suffering in their life. Am I right? You know I'm right. And we, like, always latch on to shame. If I can feel bad enough about myself, maybe it'll motivate me to change, which happens never. But we still think it will. So we continue to put shame on how we're managing our homes and how we're managing our lives and how we're mothering our children. And that shame will only decrease your energy. Remember, it's the lowest energy. It'll decrease your energy. And guess what? You won't be able to show up. So you're creating that reality by holding onto the feeling. So we're going to decide right now. No shame. No shame. You've heard of, like, no Shave November, where, like, guys go around with these big beards. We're just gonna decide no Shame Year, okay? We're just. We're just gonna get rid of shame. We're not gonna carry it on this journey to being a master Mom. You can't. You can't become a master mom. And shame, you know, comes along for the journey. We gotta leave it behind. So no more mom guilt. It's the lowest energy. And it's not gonna move us forward into being that queen that can manage her palace, right? So we're gonna let it go. It's no longer going to be on the journey with us. We're going to move to this first emotion. I got five emotions to talk about, this first emotion, which is gratitude, the highest emotion. So check this out. You can't feel scarcity and gratitude at the same time. A lot of times people feel scarcity. Moms feel scarcity around their homes, like they don't have enough, and. And it should be better, and this should be changed. Can't hold scarcity and gratitude. So let's just decide right now that we're going to choose the feeling of gratitude. And gratitude will always increase your chances of getting More done and accomplished in your home. So in Psalm 104, it says, Enter his gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into his course with praise. Be thankful and say to him, bless and affectionately praise his name. So we, like, this is how we can start our days. When you start your day with gratitude. And again, it doesn't matter if you are living in like a 1400 square foot home like I was living in, unless you're being a big home like I'm living in now, and you're in a. You're in a hotel, you're in a tent, you're. It doesn't matter. You have that place, you have surroundings, you have walls or even tent around you. You're good. Be grateful for what you have so God can promote you to maybe, you know, the desire of your heart if you want more than that. He operates by promotion, not placement. And promotion is determined by your level of gratitude over what he's already gifted you with. So I want to. I want you to see where this shows up in The Bible in 2nd Chronicles 20:20 through 22. Check this out. This is where Jehoshaphat did one of the wisest military moves ever. So check it out. It says, Starting in verse 20, they rose early in the morning, went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. They were getting ready for battle, right? And tell me, every mom is getting ready for battle every day. Don't you feel like that sometimes? Like, you wake up, you're like, all right, I got to put on my battle gear. Got to put on the. The armor of God. And then I got to get situated with all my battle gear. Got to get, you know, in my master mom battle gear, right? So this is kind of where moms are like, we do have battles that we have to face every day that other people don't even realize they had that we have going on. We just. They don't even know the kind of lives we live. If you've gone through my trainings on being a multiple variable professional and mvp, you know that we have so many things that are pulling on us all the time. We have to battle, do battles in our heart, do battles for our children, do battles for our home. So we always have to. We are always entering in a battle. If you're a master mom, you just got to know this and be prepared for it. So this is what Jehoshaphat was doing, said. Jehoshaphat stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established Believe and remain steadfast to his prophets and you shall prosper. Who wants to prosper here? Can I, can I get an amen? All right. What comes before the prosperity? Belief. Belief. When he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise him in the holy priestly garments as they went out before the army saying, give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and loving kindness. Endure forever. And when they began to sing and to praise the Lord, set ambushments against the men of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir who had come against Judah and they were self slaughtered. Wouldn't you love every battle you face as a master moment for the opponent to be self slaughtered? Because the opponent that we're always battling is never our home or a kiss or a husband or our duties. It's always the enemy. The enemy wants you to get distracted. The devil wants you to get overwhelmed. He wants you to get under your skin. He wants to bother you. What if we decided right now that I'm going to just let God fight my battles? Who for? Me. My battles in my home, my battles outside my home, my battles in my family, my battles in my career, my battles in my ministry, my battles as a woman, as a wife, as a mom, all my battles. I'm going to allow God to fight them. And guess what? Then the opponent is going to be self slaughter. But how do we let God fight our battles for us? It shows us right here. Gratitude, Thanksgiving, when those singers started singing, right? Worship is like nails on a chalkboard for the enemy. So when you start worshiping, when you start thanking God, it doesn't matter if, if you don't know how to pay your bills the next minute, if your kids are, are going off the deep end, if your husband's being whatever, it doesn't matter if you can stay in that place of gratitude. Say, God, I praise you. I praise you. I praise you right now for everything you've done, for everything you do, for everything you are. I praise you, God. When you can stay in that place, girl, you don't even need to worry about those battles because God will fight them for you. It will be self slaughter because of your praise. Don't move from that place of power. That's the greatest emotion. So how do we practice this emotion? So I want to ask you these two questions. With every one of these emotions, I'm going to talk about five of them. We're going to talk about what does it feel like and how do we practice it in my home? So what does gratitude Feel like, think about. It's the highest energy. It's high energy. You feel it vibrating through your body. You're lifted up, you're more powerful. Gratitude shows up in just high energy, right? You can't think negativity. You can't think a toxic thought. You can't think scarcity. So we practice that gratitude. How do we practice it in our home? Being grateful for what you have, there's always more you could have. There's always more things on your Amazon shopping list, right? But right now, practice gratitude for what you have, where you are. Because there is always, always, always, always something to be grateful for. So that's how we practice gratitude. Now, the second emotion is the emotion of rest. I don't know about you, but I cannot relax in a cluttered space. I just can't. It drives me bananas. Like, even if there was. If there's like clutter in our bedroom and there is like, I'm. I'm human, I have to put it away or put it out of sight so that I can rest. Because I can't. It's just, I. I just can't. That's just how I am. I can't rest easy in a cluttered space. I've seen some. Some people who are like, I push all the clutter to one side of the bed and I crawl on this side and I go to sleep. Like, that would drive me bananas. So everyone's different, but we have to understand that rest is more invited in a space that is clean, organized, and clutter free. So I want to show you in Hebrews 4, 9, 11, and this is talking about rest. It says so then there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath rest reserved for the true people of God. For he who has once entered God's rest also has ceased from the weariness and pain of human labors, just as God rested from those labors that were peculiarly his own. Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest of God, to know and experience it for ourselves, that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience into that which those in the wilderness fell. So it's talking about if you're going to strive for anything. And I know that a mom's life is very. It's a lot of effort. Like, we have to just admit it takes a lot out of us to. To raise children, to take care of a home, if that's what you're doing. A Lot of people are working outside of the home and inside of the home. They're working, they're doing careers inside the home. Like, we're doing so many things right. We have to be the dietitian, we have to be the homemaker, we have to be the. The custodian, we have to be the chauffeur. We have. There are so many things we have to do. So I get it that a mom's life is a lot of exertion, but I want. I want to show you where it says to exert yourself and strive diligently to enter the rest of God. So our greatest effort should be in the feeling of rest. Think about that. If you're going to strive, strive to enter the rest. And that is the. That is holding fast to the belief that you're covered, you're safe, you're secure. I love this idea that a home can be a restful environment. Because think about it, sometimes the world can be harsh, right? It's like there's. There's a lot of stuff going on out there. And we want to provide a place for the people we love most where they can rest and relax. And that includes you. That includes self love, loving yourself enough to provide a place where you can feel rested and safe and secure. So that's part of, like how we develop a palace. Like, think about it, walking into a palace. I remember one time when I toured the Biltmore Estates. It's as close to you can get as a palace in the United States. But it's beautiful place. I believe it's in Asheville and it's just lovely. The grounds are beautiful. The. The rooms are gorgeous. They're spacious, they're lovely. You just. I remember like going in a room when I was a kid. It was like on a. It's on a field trip one time. And I remember walking in there and I was. I felt like I was kind of. I felt like I was. I was lightheaded. Like, it was so big, it's so spacious, so beautiful. It almost like caused a visceral reaction to me. I felt kind of lightheaded, like I needed to go sit down. But is that beautiful, like, feeling of a palace? So a palace can be a feeling. And I want you to think about this feeling of rest when you know that there's a moat around you, when you know that there are stone walls that are surrounding you, when you know that you have all the room to move and breathe. That feel feels. That feels restful. So I want you to think, God is your fortress, God is your strong tower, and God is your protection. And when we can allow that energy to just exude and pour into our homes, then we can create a feeling of rest for everyone who walks in, and that includes you. So what can you do today? Like, think about this. What does rest feel like? Well, rest feels like a solid energy. There's no urgency. There's no frenetic energy. There's no. There's nothing, like frantic about it. There's nothing that you need to, like, jump up and do right. There's nothing, nothing. Spinning rest feels like solid and almost like a slowing down, not. Not fatigue and not being tired. But rest is a slowing down of the energy. So it can have a calm space and you can think more calmly, you can think more orderly. So that's what rest feel like. So how do we practice this in our homes? How do you practice rest in your homes? It looks like creating an environment that's restful. Create an environment that's free of clutter, that feels spacious, that is beautiful. And it can just bring out that. That emotion inside of you, of I can breathe, I can rest. So let's move on to the third emotion. And the third emotion is freedom. That's actually a feeling, the feeling of freedom. Now, freedom is basically being free of judgment. I want to share this with you. This comes from Romans, and it's in chapter eight. I'm going to start in verse one. Good. All the way to four says, therefore there is now no condemnation, no a judging guilty of wrong, for those who are in Christ Jesus who live and walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life, which is in Christ Jesus. The law of our new being has freed me from the sin, from the law of sin and death. For God has done what no law could, what law could not do. Its power being weakened by the flesh, the entire nature of man, without the Holy Spirit sending his own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin. God condemned sin in the flesh, subdued, overcame, and deprived it of his power over all who accept that sacrifice, so that the righteous and just requirement of the law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh, but in the ways of the Spirit. Our lives governed not by the standards in accordance to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit. So I want you to think about this idea of no judgment, having a home where there's no judgment. That means you're not holding people for their wrongdoing. Now when you have children, they're not always going to be obedient. They're not always going to do the right thing. They're not always going to make the best choices. And there are consequences. But we need to make sure that the consequences are just a result of the behavior. And we don't cast judgment on the people, on the person. They're not a bad person, they're not foolish, they're not, they're not sinful. What they chose to do, the behavior may have been not very well thought out. So there are consequences. But what if we could create a home environment of freedom? You are free to be who you are, to express yourself, to have your opinions. And when there are wrongdoings, and we do, you know, there are wrong choices that people make, we'll talk about it, we'll, we'll discuss it. And we're not going to hold it over your head. You know, that was always so powerful for me to, to, to always provide a home where everyone felt free and everyone felt safe. Safe. And they could be who they were. They didn't have to lie, they didn't have to cover up things. They could just be who they are. And, and they were invited into that space of love and compassion because that's what God does. That's what God has done through Jesus is he provided a home for us that is free of condemnation. And what if we can do the same thing? What if we can create a home? Like, think about what freedom feels like. Freedom is an openness. It's just, you don't have to like, it's not tight fisted, it's not protective, it's just open, it's flowing. That's what freedom feels like. How do you practice that in your home? You provide an energy, an invitation for people to be who they are. Now think about it. That does have to do with your interiors. When you provide a more welcoming interior, you're saying, sit down, take it easy, and we're going to talk. I remember my, my great aunt, her home, it so was not open and free and, and welcoming. She had the little plastic runner that would go on the carpet for the front door to the kitchen that you had to stay on. Especially if you were like under the age of like 12, you had to stay on that runner. And she had like plastic coverings on all the furniture. Right. It was not that place where you could sit back, kick off your shoes and talk about all the trash that that you felt in your heart and all the things and just let it all out. It was definitely not that place. It felt more of like, I gotta be careful. So can you create a home that. Where people feel like, I don't have to be careful. I can be open, I can be free. There is no judgment here. That does have to do with the interiors as well as the interior of your heart. Because remember, you are the guardian. You are the keeper of your home, the keeper of your palace. How you keep your palace is how you keep your family. So make sure you provide that space just like God does, without judgment. Now, the fourth emotion is entitlement. Now, a lot of you are probably like, hannah, that's a bad thing. Like, we shouldn't be entitled. But think about it. Entitlement can feel very much like, look at me, I'm so high above. I get to do this. I'm entitled to this. I don't. I. I'm like, proud and lofty and I deserve this. Like, it's not that kind of entitlement. It is the entitlement that comes because you are royalty. That's right. That's what the Bible says. That is not a Hannah ism. That is a Bible fact, Bible truth, I should say. When he says he has made you a royal priesthood, that's what it says in 1st Peter 2. 9. You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Ooh, that feels good. I love it. So think about it. Something that I will often, Blair and I, we love, like, anything that is, like, documentaries and, and something that has to do with, like, past times and. And European, like, all the. All the fancy stuff. We love to watch the episodes, we love to watch the documentaries. We love to get caught up in all the history, historical stuff. And a lot of times I'll say, blair, would you care to take a stroll along the grounds with me? That means, hey, you want to go walk outside and walk around the house? But it sounds so much fancier. And I'm like, blair, would you care to take a stroll? Would you fancy a stroll on the grounds? And we joke about that because we always try to, like, lift it up to a super fancy level. But think about this. I know, I know you've heard, like, probably fancy is as fancy does, right? And what if you had this, like, entitlement mentality and how you manage your home? Like, I am royalty and. And this is how we do things right. When the other day I was making breakfast for Blair and we sat outside and we had. You know, I could have just made simple breakfast, but I had to make it all fancy and I had to have like, like the perfect, like, poached eggs with some sausage and then little toast triangles, a little sprig of parsley and. And chilled juice. Like, you didn't have to go to all that. The extent. Right. But it makes you feel different. It makes you feel entitled. So if God says you're royalty, why don't you start practicing that feeling of being entitled? Because you carry the title of Jesus, you're a Christian, that Christ, that title, that is an entitlement that allows you to be a queen here because you are a child of the most high God, the King of kings, the Lord of Lords. He has made you royalty. So practice this and how you manage your palace, why not bump it up a notch? So how does entitlement feel? It feels high and lifted up. It feels bold. It feels strong. It feels like you're wearing. Wearing the mantle. Right. So how do we practice in our home? Start carrying yourself like a queen. Start establishing that same energy that you feel. Let it exude through your home and how you manage yourself, how you get ready for the day, how you. How you raise your children, the discussions that you have that can characterize that. So the last emotion, number five, is love. Love is so many things. We can camp out on this for quite a bit, but we know this. John 15:13 says, Greater love has no man than this to lay down one's life first, friend. So I want to. I want to honor you right now as a master mom. You, in your career choice and what you're doing, you are laying down your life every day. There's no greater love than a master mom who's like, today I choose to lay down my life for the people in my home, for the. For my children. I always remembered, even when my kids were little, as they grew up, saying, they're my greatest work. I can put everything, like my things on the shelf if I need to. My greatest work is my family. And if I mess that up, I'm messing up the most important thing in my life. The most important thing of my purpose, my calling, is what happens in my home. And so that's why when we put our things in the right perspective, God will always do what we can't do if we step up and do what we're anointed to do. And so as a master mom, we are showing that love every day and laying down our lives for our families. We make the choice every morning that we're not living for ourselves. Really? That's such a beautiful expression of love. We're living for the care, the welfare, the generations that we may never see. So I want you to imagine creating that home environment that feels like love. That feels like. I remember one friend that she came over one day and she said, walking into your home always feels like walking into a hug. And that was one of the greatest compliments she could ever give me because I wanted that home. That you feel love. What does love feel like? It feels expansive. God so loved the world that he gave it. Is that giving energy, that expansive energy, that doing that extends beyond you. How do we practice that in our home? We let love make decisions for us. Safest place you can get to. And I want to honor you for what you're doing as a queen. Keeping your palace. Keep on going, queen. You got this. And you just stay in this place where you're practicing these emotions, where you're letting it flow through your home. And I promise you, you're going to be blessed like crazy.
