Hannah Keeley argues that mothers' biggest mistake is not managing their thoughts. Weight, money, relationships, clutter, overwhelm: she says they all stem from a mind problem, not external circumstances. Limiting beliefs create a cascade of issues that no diet or budgeting tool can fix.

Hmm. Is it time management? Maybe poor planning? No, none of that. It's not the obvious thing. There's one monstrous mistake that most moms make, and that's what determines their success or failure. I'm going to tell you what that is in today's episode.
Here's the big question. How are these average, everyday moms getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, families, homes, and have fun doing it? The trick? We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley, and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show.
Okay? So I'm out here walking. Fits my usual morning routine. Walking a couple miles in the morning, and I was thinking last night, I had to get this message to you. This is so important, because as much as I've coached moms, and I have coached thousands of moms, and I have helped thousands of clients, and I have gotten the results. But here's what it boils down to. I promise you this one monster mistake that I see most moms making, and. And they think it's always something else. They think it's, you know, I'm lazy, or I'm not managing my time well, or I just don't plan ahead enough, or I need to just get more motivated. That's so much bull. Because this one mistake, if they handle this one area and got this in line, everything else would fall into place. I've seen it happen thousands of times. It will always happen. It is as true as true can be. And I need you to understand this because this, most moms do this, like, totally unaware, totally oblivious. They're doing this one big mistake. Now, here's what it is. Here's the monster mistake that most moms make. They are not learning how to manage their thoughts. And you're saying, oh, Hannah, no. Like, tell me something practical, girl. This is so. This is so practical. Like, not knowing how to manage your thoughts is like. Let me see. How can I describe this? Okay. It's like you being so cold. Okay? You're outside, you're freezing cold. You're like, oh, my Lord, I'm freezing my butt off, you're so cold. And I come to you and I'm like, okay, look, there's. There's all this wood around you. Look at all these trees. Like, let's start pulling some wood together and light a fire. And you're like, hannah, I am so. I am too cold to get up and build a fire. Like, I can't do that. I'm too cold to build a fire. That's what I hear. That's. That's the exact same thought pattern that's going into things like, I can invest in my personal development. I can't afford this course. I can't hire a coach. All of these, I don't have the time to hire a coach. I don't have the money to invest in a program. These kind of things. It's why you're broke. It's why you don't have time. It's why you're so overwhelmed. Because you don't have this mind game going strong. You don't have the thought game. You're not learning how to manage it. And this is something we're never taught. Like, you don't, you don't go into a fourth grade class and say, okay, guys, for the next two weeks, we're going to focus on how to manage our thoughts. You don't, you don't. It's like, all right, here's how to. Right? Here's how to learn. Here's how to read, here's how to do math. Here's. We learn all of these things like, when is, when is the last time you did algebra? Can I just ask you, when is the last time you did algebra? Exactly. When is the last time you had to conjugate a sentence? Do you even remember what conjugate means? When is this, like. No, not conjugated sentence. See, I didn't even remember what it meant. Conjugate is what you do to a verb. No, diagram a sentence. See, I don't even know. I don't know. And I'm even talking about it. You don't use the skills that we're taught in school so vigorously. And we're not taught this. The skills on how to manage our thoughts which direct our entire life. Even the Bible says that above all else, guard your heart, for out of it flow. All the issues of life says that in Proverbs. So if you're not guarding your heart and what it's talking about is that inner mom is that it's this. The thought life is the thought game. If you're not guarding that, if you're not managing that with like discipline like every day, just like, you know, I know a lot of people who like, measure their food and manage their diet with such discipline. I know people who work out and they have like, okay, today is like leg day, tomorrow I'm doing core. And you know, like, they're, oh, guys, there's two little bunnies sitting side by side on this lawn. And they are the cutest thing I've ever seen. Okay, I'm sorry. Distraction. It wasn't even a squirrel and it distracted me. They were bunnies. That's even more distracting because they're so dang cute. Okay, so I know people who do this with their. With their bodies. They never miss a yoga class. You know, they're always there. And we have the tendency to think, because we're culturally taught this, that if there's a problem, then you need to buy a simple solution. Because otherwise we buff ourselves. We protect ourselves from reality. So if there's a problem in our thought life, I want you. I'll just help me with the logic. Just track with me, okay, for a second. If there's a problem with managing your thoughts, with which every single problem goes down to managing your thoughts, I promise you. You think it's a money problem. No, it's not. It's a mind problem. You think it's a marriage problem. No, it's not. It's a mind problem. You think it's a problem parenting or cluttering your home? No, it's not. It's not your diet. It's not your exercise. It is a mind body problem. But here's what happens. We're not taught how to manage our minds, right? We're not taught how to do the thought. The thought management. So when there's a problem, instead of going to our mind, we go to a superficial solution. We're like, oh, wow, I'm like 47 pounds overweight. Let me figure out which diet I should be on. Should I do whole 30? Should I do keto? Should I join Weight Watchers?
Should.
Should I get my meal shipped to me? Should I do meal planning? Should I join an exercise group? Should I start running? Should I get some new workout clothes? And maybe that will motivate me to get my butt out of bed and actually move my body. Are you tracking with me? So that's what we think. Like, we think our mind created the weight problem, but we think a solution, external solution, is going to fix it. But here's what it does. We get an external solution. Let's. Let's just say it's a eating problem. Okay? Let's say it's an eating problem. We get an external solution, right? We get a new diet. We get a workout buddy. We show up to the gym and let's say we lose some weight. Let's say it starts working. We lose some weight. All of a sudden we have this weird problem with Spending money. Now we're like, now we're looking at Amazon Prime. Like, you know, boxes are showing up, like, every other day on Amazon. They're showing up at our front door. Our husbands are like, what's going on here? Like, every time I come home from work, there's another cardboard box out in the front door. What is happening here, baby? So, okay, oh, wow. I'm spending too much money. Let's see. I need to manage that. Let me get a budget in place. Let me get. Let me cut up my credit cards, let me do the envelope system and put all my cash in there. And then we start to manage our money a little better. But now we can't stop fighting with our kids. Now we're yelling at our kids all the time. We're arguing with them. We just complain about them all the time. They're leaving their room so junky and cluttered, and we're like, why can't they just do what I say? And I get no respect around here. Are you tracking with me? When we have a mind problem, it's going to be manifested in our lives in some way. That's why we have the money issues. That's why we have the weight problems. That's why we have relationship problems. That's why our homes are filled with clutter. That's why we have restlessness. That's why we're angry. That's why we don't have joy in our lives. It all goes down to a mind management issue.

And here's what we say. As soon as I have more time, as soon as I have more money, I'll get coaching, I'll get counseling. Well, I don't even know. Sometimes counseling helps. You really need to learn. Instead of how to, like, talk about your problems, you need to learn how to manage your thoughts about your problems. Because it's never your problem, it's your thoughts about your problem. So. And yes, counseling is great. Therapy is great. It's all great. But wouldn't it be wonderful if we could prevent the problem in the first place. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could get down to the core issue, our thoughts? Because I promise, the weight problem that we talked about earlier that I was sharing with you, I promise it comes down to a thought, first of all, to a belief that's in your subconscious. What you believe about eating, what you believe about comforting yourself, what you believe about getting satisfied or what food can do for you, or your emptiness or isolation or feelings of inadequacy. Like, it all comes down to this. And we just are taught by our culture, hey, you know, eat more, drink more, have more sex. It's other people's fault. Just, just cushion yourself from the reality. Just buy more stuff. Just, just provide that safety net, that safety cushion, because there's a reality here that you don't want to face. So we'll cover it up with something our culture says. Cover it up with something maybe we need. Maybe we need another glass of wine. Maybe you need another pack of cookies. Maybe you need to buy something else online. Maybe you need to just like, get angry and blame somebody else or something else, or. Do you understand what I'm saying? And then we're caught in the spiral of, of limiting beliefs which are creating negative thoughts, which are creating horrible emotions, which are creating actions that lead to destruction. This is why Proverbs says, above all else, above your budget, above your diet, above your. Above the. I don't even, I don't even know what are all the solutions, the shopping, above the clutter, management tips, above the menu planning, above all else. Because you can find, you can find solutions, like, all over the place. Just Google, you're going to find a thousand, 1,001 products. But above all else, guard your heart. Get down to the mind game. Get down to the thought that is creating the problem. It's never the problem. It's your thoughts about the problem which are based upon some type of belief you created that is probably not serving you at the highest level. So what do we do? What do we do with this monster mistake that most moms are making? I see it all the time. It literally breaks my heart, okay? Not literally, figuratively. My heart is not literally breaking in thousands pieces. Thank you, Jesus. My heart is being held together, but my heart breaks when I see these moms who are like, I just can't afford a coach. I can't. I don't have the time to get plugged in to any type of coaching or any type of success program or I don't have the time to read books, and I don't have the time to listen to podcasts and I don't have the money to invest in myself. Are you serious? But do you have the money to cushion yourself from all the problems? Do you have the money for all the extra groceries and all the extra meals and all the anxiety that you're dealing with and the medication and that which is necessary sometimes and the things that you're buying, the clothes and do you have the money for that? Because if you can get the thought pattern going right, then you can get the money game right, you can get the time game right, you can get the relationship game right, you can get the home management right. It all comes down to your heart, baby, to your mind, to your thought life. And this is what I. And once you get plugged into this, once you get this revelation like, oh, my gosh, it's not my husband is driving me crazy. It's my thoughts about my husband that are driving me crazy. It's not like I need more time to declutter. It's my thoughts about my home and about my limitations and about my lack or my scarcity that are creating the cloud. Once you get down, oh, my gosh, it is like the heavens part and there's God and all the angels and they're going, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. You figure out, oh, my gosh, it's my thoughts about it is that it's not what I thought it was. It's like all of a sudden, it's like that. That curtain tearing in the temple. You just walk into the throne room of God. You know, like, God, thank you for showing me that is my heart. It's my thoughts about it. God, thank you for leading me to the place of. Sometimes you get desperate. Like, nothing has worked for me. No diet has worked. No, no solution that I've tried has worked for the problem. And then you finally get down to the core issue, you get that in alignment with the truth of God and what God says about you, you get your identity straight, oh, my gosh, everything changes. And it's so good. It's so good. So that's what I wanted to encourage you today. Like, if you are making that monster mistake, if you're saying, you know, one day it's just going to magically get better, one day we'll make more money or one day we'll be able to save, or one day I'm going to figure out how to get my butt to the gym or, you know, if you're thinking one day is going to come and all of a sudden you're going to feel joy and you're going to feel productive and you're going to start getting results in your life because some magic happened. Then you're wrong. The magic is available to you when you plug in to managing your thoughts. You manage your mind, you manage your entire life. That's just how it is. So I hope this has helped you. Don't make that monster mistake. You are worth investing in. You have the time, you have the money, you have the ability. You can get plugged in and get coached, get the training, get the thought life, read the books, listen to the podcast, get plugged in, do the inside work and watch everything on the outside change in an amazing way. I hope this has blessed you. I'll talk with you later. Go do the mind work.
