Hannah Keeley teaches a faith-based method to eliminate stress by mastering the "faith formula": thought becomes feeling becomes action becomes outcome. She identifies three "mom brain" obstacles—low distraction threshold, negative bias, rapid task-switching—and offers a four-step technique to interrupt negative patterns and turn lies into truth through intentional belief.

Moms in stress. It seems like the two go hand in hand, right? Well, until now. That's right. In today's episode, we're diving into stress. And here's the deal. We're not going to learn how to manage stress. We're going to learn how to get rid of it for good. Welcome to Mom Mastery University. The education every mom should have had, but mom didn't. I'm Hannah Keeley, America's number one mom coach. And class is now in session. Hey there, Mom. And welcome back to Mom Master University. And we are knee deep in a series called the Secret Place. Now what is the secret place? I hope you listen to part one and part two, but it's all about that place where we are hidden and removed from stress. Blair, I'm starting that over. I just clap just for the heck of it. Hey there, Mama. Welcome back to Mom Master University. And we are knee deep in a series called the Secret Place. Now, this is your first time tuning in. Welcome. There's always a spot for you, always to see it in class. I'm so excited you're here. But make sure you go back and listen to part one and part two because what we're talking about is stress and how to live a life without it. That's right. I'm not talking about managing it or how to cope with it. We're talking about how to obliterate it and get it out of your life. And. And it's that secret place. So our key verse throughout this series is Psalm 91:1. And it says this. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand. So that secret place is a place where the verse said it, we're stable. We are grounded, we're rooted. We're not shaken by all our circumstances. You know, we talked about there's three keys to get into this secret place. The key, the first key, first of all, we have to like, we have to recognize our source. And our source is God. He is our El Shaddai. He is our all sufficient one. He is our stable source. Source that is not going to, you know, be fickle. It's not going to be up and down. It's not like the stock market. It's not like the weather, right? It's not like sometimes our money can feel like where it's in and out and up and down and. And whenever we have our source hooked to something that's not God. That's why we Feel stressed, we don't feel stable. We don't feel planted, grounded, and rooted. Now, that second key is that it's the doorway to get into that secret place. And that doorway is we have to know how to take authority of our soul, how to empower our mind, our will, our emotions, how to work with it. Now, this is what we're going to talk about today. We're diving deep into the faith formula, which is, very simply put, I think something and it makes me feel something, which makes me do something, which causes me to have something. In the most simple, simplest terms, that is the faith formula. And we're going to dive in how to leverage the faith formula in order to really empower our soul, to work with our thoughts, to get authority over our thoughts. Because we're told that we can take authority of our thoughts, right? That we can capture our thoughts and pull them down into submission. However, we're not taught how to do it, we're just taught to do it, you know, but there's so many believers out there, so many moms who are like, I feel like I'm. Instead of mastering my emotions, I am mastered by my emotions. So how do we really do this? How do we take authority of our thoughts? That's what we're going to talk about today. So this is what we have to understand. Where our focus goes, our energy flows. Now, for moms, because of the mom brain, a lot of that energy in our mind is focused negatively. No condemnation, no shame. Why that happens is because when we have children, our brain literally changes. It changes anatomically, it changes cognitively. And so now the reason you feel like you're worried all the time, or you're always concerned with your children's health, their wealth, welfare, their safety, your finances, your health, your marriage, it's like, I would be worried if I wasn't worried. You know, that's like. That's like the mom brain in a nutshell. Because we're always. Our brain is like genetically engineered when you become a mom to always be scanning the environment for potential threats. Okay? Because we are designed to keep our children safe. Now, that's fine if we're like back in, you know, like, like cavemen era, when there's like a saber toothed tiger. I don't even know if saber toothed tigers lived at the same time of humans. Let's just say they did. Okay? I'm sure I'm gonna get plenty of comments about that. But let's say, like, when there's a real and present danger and there's a bear out there when there's a tiger. Like, we have to keep our children safe. Work then now is driving us bananas. That stress is an epidemic for moms because we don't know how to take authority of our thoughts. So here's three ways that the mom brain operates against our ability to focus. So we always want to channel our energy. We always want to focus our thoughts. We want to take authority. However, the mom brain is engineered not to do that. These three ways. First way, we have a low distraction threshold. What does that mean? We. We think we have, like, attention deficit. We think we have. We think we have something wrong with us because we are constantly distracted. Have you ever just heard two moms talking? It's like. It's like. It's like a pinball game. It's bing, bing, bing, bing, going back and forth all over the place. Because that's how the mom brain works. We are finally tuned to distraction because distraction could represent a potential threat. So that's why moms have a hard time, like, starting something and finishing it, right? They. They're like, why can't I finish what I. What I? Now, if left unchecked, this low distraction threshold can make a mom think that they're lazy or they have no willpower, or they're just. They're just like a loser mom. Because can't finish what you start. You start something, you get distracted, you go in a room and you forget why you're there. That's normal. But we have to just learn how to leverage it, work with it instead of against it. Now, another way that the mom brain is kind of working against you with your focus is you have a negative cognitive bias. Now, we talked about that. It's that heightened awareness that at any time there could be a threat. So that's why we're always thinking, tend to think, gravitate toward more negativity because we're always on the lookout for potential threats. Something could go wrong. So we kind of mentally prepare ourselves for that ahead of time. Now, another way that the mom brain could be working against you is we have rapid switch processing. Now, moms are notorious for being multitaskers, right? In actuality, we can't think about more than one thought at a time. Now, for a mom, because of her lifestyle, there's so much going on, they have to take care of the kids. They have to make sure the pot's not boiled over. They have to make sure they get their emails in time. Like all these things are going on. Especially today. Moms are Busier than ever before. And with that, we have to hold more thoughts than ever before because we have to manage more things than ever before. So what happens? Because we can only hold one thought at a time, we're constantly switching lanes, right? We're constantly switching from one thought to another thought. Again, the conversations with moms all over the place, right? We can track. We can track it totally go from there to there to there to there. And sometimes you're like, wait, what were we talking about again? Sound familiar? It's just that rapid switch in your brain, which is good. You want that. However, when you're trying to work with your thoughts, that's one of the obstacles that we have to learn how to get over because we're constantly switching lanes and thinking about so many different things, all different lanes, right? Switch, switch, switch, switch, switch. We gotta learn how to stay in the lane and focus, especially if that lane of positive thought is going to lead us to the most positive life. Okay, now, pros and cons with the mom brain. Pro, you can manage a lot of things all at once. Thank you, Jesus. But a con is intentionality of belief gets overlooked. Because think about it, we have to take our thoughts captive. That means we have to be aware of them, and that's what we've been learning about. But we also have to focus them in a direction of positivity. So what do we do? So that's why we have Mom Master University is we're always working with coaching strategies that work with the mom brain. And that's why it's so powerful, so profound. Because there's nothing wrong with you. I want you to know that right now, as a mom, one mom to another mom, there's nothing wrong with you. It's not you, it's your brain. It's actually a good thing. We just have to learn how to work with it. Okay, your work is to believe. I'm going to read this to you. This is John 6:29. It says this. Jesus replied, okay, this is right after the disciples said, jesus, look, what do we have to do in order to do these mighty works like you're doing? And Jesus said, oh, super cool. Like, let me answer you really quickly. Jesus replied, this is the work and the service that God asks, asks of you, that you believe in the one whom he has sent, that you cleave to trust, rely on, and have faith in his messenger. Now that's the classic amplified version. Let me read to you the new living translation. They replied, we want to perform God's works too. What should we do? Jesus told them, this is the only work God wants from you. Believe in the one he has sent. So here's a big problem with moms. We always have a tendency when there's a problem, we think, what do I do? Right? And that starts a stress cycle. Instead of what do I do? What Jesus is telling us here. The solution is, what do I believe? So every time you're tempted to say to Google something, what do I do about this? I need to figure it out. Oh, my goodness. Let me start stressing. Take a deep breath. Remember what I say. Hold up, wait a minute. Put a little super in it. Stop thinking naturally. Stop thinking, what do I do? How do I fix it? Start thinking supernaturally. What must I believe about this? And that's where we're going to work. See, every positive behavior, every single positive behavior, whether you're talking about keeping a clean house, making more money, taking better care of your kids, being a better mom, being a better wife, whatever that is. Every positive behavior must become intentional before it can become habitual. Did you hear me? Every positive behavior. Like people are, moms are trying to create habits. I'm going to start eating better. I'm going to start taking better care of my house. I'm going to start losing weight. I'm going to start whatever, you name it, right? We want to develop these good habits, but we cannot until we first work on our thoughts around the behavior. So it has to become intentional before it becomes habitual. I want you to say that out loud. It's got to become intentional before it becomes habitual. And that's learning how to rest in the belief of the most positive, favorable outcome of the current situation that you are facing. Are you tracking with me? I want to read to you Hebrews 4, 9, 11. This is going to help you. So then there is still awaiting a full and perfect Sabbath rest reserved for the true people of God. For he who has once entered God's rest also has ceased from the weariness and pain of human labors. Weariness and pain of human labors. Let's go ahead and clarify that that is working in the natural, and that is always associated with stress, weariness, pain, that is stress. Just as God rested from those labors peculiarly his own. Verse 11. Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest of God, to know and experience it for ourselves, that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience into which Those in the wilderness fell. Now, this is what I want you to know from this. Believing is work, okay? It is the best work. It is the highest work, but it is work. We tend to think that believing is just where our current thoughts are going. And we're doing it unintentionally, we're doing it without focus. We've got to learn that the greatest work. That's why this verse says to strive diligently, to labor, to enter into the rest. What is the rest of the. It's the faith of knowing God's working it out. For me. This the. It's the belief in holding the energy, the focus, the image, everything of the most favorable outcome. If you're dealing with a money problem, that place of belief is resting in. God has all things for me. He. He has never deprived me of anything. He is a good God. He's taking care of me. I have all my needs met according to his riches and glory. It's is believing the most favorable outcome. And that's work. That's sometimes really hard work. I think it's the hardest work. Okay? It's always easier to Google something to do and start like busting your butt trying to do it. It's harder to say, let me take a breath, let me sit down, let me believe. And then out of that belief, so I know something amazing is going to happen. Because remember, that's what the faith formula is. We have to go to the root if we're going to change the fruit. So we go to our thoughts, because whatever we think becomes how we feel, whatever we feel leads into what we do. And whatever we do, those decisions we make are creating our present existence, our circumstances, our results. That's what we're going to have in life. If you want to have a different life, you got to believe a different belief. It's that simple. Now that's what the faith formula is. We practiced awareness last week. We practiced just becoming conscious and aware of where your thoughts are going. That's the first step. Because remember, you can't renew something that isn't revealed. You got to reveal it before you can renew it. And we're called to renew our mind according to Romans 12:2. So I want to share this quote by, excuse me, Carl Jung. He says, until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. I'm not saying I agree with all of his philosophy and teaching, but that quote is so true. Until you are conscious of your thoughts, you'll keep on calling the results you get in life, fate. I'm just unlucky. That's, that's just how relationships work out for me. Well, that, you know, I've just never been good with money. Well, you know, I'm just a messy person. Stop telling yourself that because the more you're telling yourself that, you're just calling, calling it fate. And you will never get anything different than that. What you have to do is realize I could be the creator of all of this. Because we can't change anything in our life until we take a hundred percent responsibility that I was a creator. And when you can step into that place, good or bad, okay, and just hold that responsibility, that's the, that's such a powerful position because then you can change something. Now we have to isolate it, understand our thoughts before we can ever transform our thoughts. So isolation comes before transformation. We practice isolating. What is the thought, what am I holding? Now is time to transform it. Okay, I want to read this to you. Now, you probably already know about David and Goliath, right? Excuse me. My goodness gracious. Let me share this with you. This was first. This is 1st Samuel 17:46. And this is what David said to Goliath the day that Goliath met his doom. He said, today the Lord will conquer you and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. Now why am I sharing that with you? Because I want to show you a strategy that David used here. And that is you turn the enemy on himself. Now, when you can isolate the thought, let's take anything, for example, let's take your health. Let's say you're. You're having a health battle right now. And we always want to, of course, with the mom brain, gravitate toward the most unfavorable outcome. And that could be, this is going to kill me. I'm never going to be able to. I'm never going to be able to be healthy. I'm never going to lose this weight, whatever that is. Now we can know that those thoughts are bringing about our worst case scenario. And when your mind goes to your worst case scenario, here's a strategy you can use. You can look at that and say, wait, how does this make me feel? How does this thought of, I'll never get over this disease, this disease will kill me. I'm never going to be able to have children. We're never going to be able to pay off our debt. I'm never going to be able to get over this heartbreak. I'm never going to get over this trauma. I'm going to be like this forever. How did. How does that make you feel? Well, fill in the blank. It makes you feel shame. It makes you feel low energy. It makes you feel powerless. It makes you feel like a victim. It makes you feel discouragement. It makes you feel depression. It makes you feel anxious. Now, is that from God? Absolutely not. God is love. God is light. All good gifts come from him. So is that thought a good gift? No. So I'm showing you something. Work with me here so we can look at that thought as something Satan gave us, something the enemy planted in us. It's not a good gift from a good father. It's a negative, destructive, toxic thought thought that he is trying to give you. Now, the only problem happens, the only problem in this is that we will receive it, right? We'll take it onto ourselves and we will receive it and make it our own. And own it. But what if. What if you could just reject that thought and say, wait a minute, this is a lie. This is a lie. It came from the enemy and I don't have to receive it. Now why I'm using David and Goliath as the example because David said to Goliath, I'm going to cut off your head. However, David didn't have a sword, so he already knew. Whatever you come at me with, I have the power through God to turn the battle around. And now whatever you try to hurt me with, whatever weapon that is now, it's going to be used to kill you. So this is how you do that. You take that thought that was planted, that toxic thought that creates anxiety, and you say, wait a minute, if this is a lie, and we know that all, all Satan can say are lies, right? And if this is a lie, then what Satan is actually doing is confirming what is true. And the truth is I'm going to be healthy. The truth is I am going to be able to have children. The truth is money does work out for me. The truth is I can. I can be gone and out of this trauma any moment. The truth is that I can live in freedom, abundance, wealth, health, all of that. That is the truth. So we use the enemy as leverage. Psalm 110:1. Let me read this to you. It says, the Lord said to my Lord, sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet. The very thing that very Thought around anxiety. What has been causing you anxiety up to this point? That very thing is actually your greatest tool to get out of anxiety because you can see it's just a lie. You discovered the lie. And once you discover the lie, you also discover the truth. And now you can turn your focus on to that. The truth of what God says. Who God says you are what God says about your future. We no longer have to believe the lie. We can take that, that, that toxic gift, quote unquote, that toxic thought, that toxic reality that the enemy tried to serve us, and we can reject it and now hold the truth. So here's, here's where I go for this. John 8:44. This is what Jesus had to say about the devil. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth. For there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. So if all he can speak are lies, and you know it's, it's creating anxiety, so it's coming from Satan and all he can speak are lies, you can say, wait a minute, oh my gosh, kidding, excited. Because now you just discovered the truth of that. The truth is what is on the other side of that lie. So look into the light. Don't just run away from anxiety. Don't just resist it. Because whatever you resist, persist, take it, use it, look at what that lie is and say all you can speak are lies. So now you just confirm that I am going to be successful, that I am going to be healed, that I am going to be healthy, that this marriage is going to work out, that my child is going to come around and, and know Jesus, that you fill in the blank. It's the opposite of that lie that Satan tried to feed you because all he can speak are lies. Now that when. Soon as we figure out the truth. Now we have to meditate on it and we have to make it intentional. Now that you discover the truth. I am, I am on this healing path. I am healed. I was healed. Praise God. I'm living in the finished work. As soon as you discover that, we need to make it intentional. Now, how do you make it intentional? How do you capture it? How do you meditate on it? How do you focus your thoughts? There are three ways to do that, that work with the mom brain. You ready for this? The first way, integrate it. Integrate it. So let's say your thought is you're trying to maybe create more wealth. You're trying to get out of debt. You're Trying to build more money, but you're. But you're strapped financially. Let's say that's happening. But the thought is, oh. The lie is, oh, I'm going to be poor forever. I'm never going to be able to make ends meet. We're going to be strapped financially forever. No, you discovered the truth of that is that I am wealthy. I am wealthy. I have everything I need. Money just pours into my life because I know how to use it, and I manage it well. I'm a good steward of everything that God blesses me with. So more and more blessings pour into my life. That's the truth. Now you've got to meditate on it. And one way to do this is in integrate it with something you're currently doing. For example, every single day, Take a routine you do every single day. It could be going on a morning walk. It could be brushing your teeth. Okay? It could be putting on makeup. So something that you do every single day, Use that boom as a trigger. I'm going to intentionally hold this thought. So every time you brush your teeth, you can be thinking, I am so wealthy. Money is pouring into my life right now. God is such a good, good giver. He has inexhaustible riches laid out for me pouring into my life right now. Just training your mind to think in that direction. That first way is to integrate it with a current routine you already have. Now, this is designed for the mom brain, and this works very well for moms. The second way is to interpret it. So as soon as the lie hits, and you'll know that because you feel stressed, we talked about what it feels like. As soon as the lie hits, what you're going to do is be aware of it and say, wait, what is the truth? Find the truth in the lie and sit in it, celebrate it, rejoice in it. Use the emotion as a trigger to meditate on the truth. Now, we said integrate it, interpret it, and the last one is interrupt it. Now, this is a big one for moms, and it works really, really well. You have to have a pattern interrupt. A pattern interrupt is something external that will stop your thoughts before they go into a negative direction or stop a pattern of thinking that you've already established. So let's say your mom, you stress out. You want to stop that. One way that worked with me is I did a pattern interrupt and I set a charm. I mean, not a charm, a chime on my watch. This was back before cell phones had alarms and all that kind of thing. Yes, I'M pretty ancient. Okay, so born, born in the 60s, I will tell you that. So I had just bought a, you know, old watch from Walmart and just set an hourly alarm to go off. Just a little chime, hourly alarm to go off. And that was enough pattern interrupt. So I would. So it stopped me say, wait, where, where are my thoughts? What am I thinking? I had to do that for like the first. My anxiety was so bad, it took me like six months to finally be able to be more intentional with my thinking, but I had to interrupt it first. So you can do that, you can set on your phone also. Another very helpful strategy is get like a whistle or something that you can just, when you feel yourself thinking that, blow the whistle just enough to interrupt the pattern so that you can start thinking a more positive thought. Okay? So we're going to integrate it with the routine. We're going to interpret it and know the lines, sit in it. And we're also going to interrupt it by using a pattern break something external to you. Okay? So we have to go through this faith formula. Think about what is one of the primary stressors in your life right now? What is the thought you're holding around it? How does that thought make you feel in your body? And when you feel this way, what does that feeling cause you to do? And when you do that, what have you created? What is the circumstance? What is the result? Now we're usually doing this unconsciously, but if we're going to obliterate stress out of our life, we have to turn the unconscious conscious. We have to get very clear and do the highest level of work. And that is your belief. So that's what we're doing here, is we're making that belief intentional. Now, I know this is, this may be new information for you. This, if you're already inside Mom Master University, it is not. This is like, this is what we do daily, right? We're always working with our thoughts. And that's why we get such extraordinary results inside Mom Master University. Now this is wrapping up this entire series called the Secret Place. And I encourage you, I want you to work with your thoughts in such a way we know we can. We have so many tools now. We know how to interrupt the thought, we know how to interpret the thought, right? We, we know how to integrate into our routines. But we have to become strategic with this. We have to become strategic, we have to become masters of our thought. And how do you become a master at anything? You just practice it. And that's what we do inside Mom Master University. And I promise you, when you become intentional with your thought, intentional with your belief, you are going to find stress does not even have a seat at your table.
