WARNING! You’ll Never Leave a Project Unfinished Again
26 Jan 2019 · 5 min
In this solo podcast episode, Hannah Keeley delivers a motivational message to mothers about the importance of fully completing tasks, coining the phrase “tie a bow around it.” She shares a personal story of cleaning her pantry, kitchen, closet, and dealing with a lingering gift bag and jewelry, illustrating how small unfinished details can linger and how she forces herself to finish them. Keeley connects this habit to the biblical principle from Matthew 18, where the shepherd seeks the one lost sheep, using it as a spiritual analogy for finishing the last 1% of any project. She emphasizes that true rest and joy come from complete completion, encouraging listeners to celebrate the finished work. Throughout, she intersperses lighthearted commentary about wearing a fanny pack and promotes her online “Mom Mastery” university and the That Mom Show, inviting listeners to take a free quiz and join the community. The episode blends personal anecdote, faith‑based motivation, practical advice, and brand promotion, aiming to empower moms to become “master moms” who never leave a project unfinished.

Hey, Mama. Hannah here. And this podcast episode is going to come with a bit of a warning, because, you see, after you hear today's message, I don't think you're ever going to be able to leave a project unfinished again.
Here's the big question. How are these average, everyday moms getting radical results in their lives? How are they able to transform their health, money, families, homes, and have fun doing it? The trick? Check this out. We're not average. I'm Hannah Keeley, and I'm going to spill our secrets and answer your questions right now in that mom show.
All right, y'. All. So I am walking fits this morning, so if I get a little breathless. Grace. Grace and mercy. Thank you, Jesus. Right? We all need mercy. All right, so by the way, as I'm doing my walk in the neighborhood, I'm wearing my fanny pack. Yes, the fanny pack. I think it's vital that we embrace fashion. So I'm doing my part in sporting a fanny pack. I am bringing back the pack. It's funny because when my. One of my kids saw me with this fanny pack on, they're like, oh, wow, Mom, a fanny pack. I said, yeah, baby, what you got to say about it? Said one of my friends has a fanny pack. They wear it over their shoulder, though. I'm like, nah, nope, it's the fanny or nothing. I am wearing the fanny pack. But that's not what I want to tell you today. What I want to tell you today is how you can be sure to tie a bow around it. You see, this is the problem. A lot of moms have. You know, I've said this before. I know you've heard it before, but it's still a problem about not tying bows around it. We do projects around the house. We do maybe 85%, and then we leave the 15%. And here's why. We did enough to alleviate the pain, right? The pain of having laundry spilled out all over the place is no longer there. The pain of having dishes piled up or projects unfinished. We do just enough to alleviate the pain, but we don't go all the way and create the pleasure of having a task 100% done. This happened to me last night. This is why I want to give you this message. Last night, I had it on my map to clean out my closet, put my clothes away, and to clean out the pantry and the kitchen. So I did the pantry. Done. And I cleaned up the kitchen like I do, you know, most days. Usually the kids help me out, but the kids weren't home, so I cleaned the kitchen. And when I clean the kitchen, like, it is clean, you know? But I noticed there was one thing. There was a gift bag. There's a gift bag sitting on the counter that had been there for about three days. Just in all honesty, tbh. It had been sitting there for, like, three days. And I was just gonna leave it there. And I remembered I heard my own voice in my head. Tie a bow around it. Tie a bow around it. So in order to put this gift bag away that had been sitting there for three days, I had to go downstairs in the guest bedroom and put away in the drawers there where all my gift supplies are. And I know that sounds so arrogant to say, oh, I gotta do all this work just to put away your gift bag, but y' all know. Y' all know how it is. Oh, man. In order to put this away, in order to put that hammer away, I've got to go in the garage, I've got to open that top drawer. I've got to put. And we'd let these variables keep us from completing the job. We'll stop at 85%, we'll even stop at 99%, and we won't get that one less variable. So I was like, oh, fine. Taking my own advice, right? And I went and I put the gift bag away. So then I went into my closet, put all my clothes away, and cleaned off all my shelves. Because sometimes I'll stick stuff there, not even thinking. Cleaned off the shelves, put all my clothes away, and was done. And I was ready to walk out, turn off the lights. And I saw that there was a bag with a little bit of jewelry from my last trip that I had not put away yet. And I was like, ah, it's just that one thing. I'll just leave it again. Again. I heard my own voice. Tie a bow around it. So I was like. Fitz looked at me like, I'm mad. Not mad, baby. Come on, come on, let's go. Just doing a podcast. We're just hanging out with our friends. He's like, there goes mom with her imaginary friends again. Yes, I call myself mom in relation to my dog. That is a scary thing. I guess I'm a mom to everything.

So, anyway, went back in the closet, put away everything, threw away the bag, and finally I was done. I did the one last thing. Now, this is why I'm sharing this with you. Not to be like, oh, look at me. I put everything away because I struggle with it, just like you do. Like, the same thing. The reason that this is pertinent to you is because we share the same kind of life. No one knows this life like us, so I struggle with it too. And I was thinking about Matthew 18, and I believe God brought this up to me so that today it could help you and you will never be able, never again be able to leave a task unfinished. I believe it's Matthew 18 where talks about how if a man puts away his sheep and he counts and there's 99, he will leave the 99 and go seek out the 1. See, that's how God does things. He does it in completion. The only reason he rested on the seventh day is because he completed the work on day six. The same with us. The reason we rest is not because we're tired, but because the work is done and we just dig down deep and we find that extra energy and strength and resilience to do the last thing. And that pertains to doing that last 15%, that last 1%, tying a bow around it. Whatever the project is, whatever the task at hand is, we complete it. Just like God completes it. This good shepherd, he will leave his 99. And if he sees that 1 is missing, he will get out there and he will find the One. So this is that same mentality we need. If we do 99 things, if we put away 99 pieces of clothing, but there's the 1, we're not done. We're not done until the 1. Hey, that kind of. That's tweetable, I think. We're not done till that one. Just like Jesus will seek, it's not like he's like abandoning the 99. What he does is he's got the 99. They're safe and tucked away, but there's one that's not. So think about this. When you're doing your job and you're tempted not to tie a bow around it, you're tempted to stop when the pain is alleviated without getting the pleasure of completion. Think about this. If God can leave the 99 tucked away safe and sound and go seek the 1. You can put away the gift bag. You can put away the jewelry. You can wash the last dish, you can wipe off the dining room table. You can clean out that trash out of the car, whatever it is. You can make that last call. There's so many things, y'. All, there's so many things that we are not experiencing the joy of completion just because we stop when the pain's over. Yes, it's painful to put away the 99 sometimes, you know, I know we got a lot to do, but we do it and we seek out the one. And then you know what we do when we put that one away, girl? We tie a bow around it. We celebrate. Nachos, whatever it is, it's time to celebrate and feel the joy that all 100 of your sheep are tucked away and the job is done and the bow is tied. I love you. I'm telling you, after today, you're not going to be able to see your dishes, your, that stack of bills you need to pay, the work on your desk, your laundry. You're not going to be able to see it the same way again. Because we have the diligence. We can do it. We are master moms. And now I'm gonna go sport my fanny pack, y'. All. So funny. This fanny pack actually has a unique ability to also make me look pregnant if I'm wearing the right clothes. So today I'm wearing a sweatshirt because it's cold out here and the sweatshirt hits just perfectly below the fanny pack. So it actually looks like I'm about, mmm, eight, eight and a half months pregnant. So, you know, you know, today I am looking sharp. All right, I love you guys. Be awesome. Be blessed like crazy.
