Hello and welcome everyone. In this video, we are going to talk about how much it would cost you to write your PMP exam. Now, the simplest way to write your PMP exam is to just pay for the exam outright. So that's option number 1, and the total cost of this is $555. Now there is another option that you can use, which is option 2, that's going to save you a little bit of money. So here is how it works. So first, you are going to pay for a PMI membership First, before you pay for the exam. So the cost of the PMI membership is $129 per year. So you can cancel it anytime you want though. So after your first year, you can cancel this membership. Now, if you get your PMI membership, you can write your exam for only $405. So if we add up these 2 numbers, the total cost to write the exam is $534. So that means that you are saving— $65. $21 to write the exam if you get the PMI membership first. Now, in addition to saving $21 on your PMP exam, there are other benefits with the PMI membership as well. These include discounts to PMI events, a free digital copy of the PMBOK Guide, and access to PMI networks. So this could really help you if you're looking for a job. So I would definitely recommend getting your PMI membership during your first year when you're writing your exam. Because you're getting the free copy of the PMBOK and access to all of PMI's networks. So after year 1, you can choose to continue the membership or cancel it. So it gives— the reason why PMI is giving you this big discount on the exam is because they want you to try their membership and hopefully continue with it as the years go on. Now, the cost of the exam is not the only cost that you should consider when you're writing your PMP. There are other costs as well, including books if you're going to buy some books to help you prepare. The most popular books that you can get include Rita's and Head First. These books cost around $50 to $100, and you can get them off of Amazon. There's another cost that you should consider is prep courses, and depending on the format that you choose for the prep courses— so if you want to do online or in-person or live online— depending on the format you choose, the price of these prep courses will range from $200 all all the way up to $5,000. And the last cost you should consider is the cost of exam simulators, which could range from $70 to $300 depending on which provider you go with. So in summary though, so on average, in order to get your certification, you should budget around $1,000 for both the prep material and paying for the exam fees.
