Hi and welcome. In this video, we are going to determine whether or not you are eligible to rate your PMP certification. So for those of you who are just getting started, PMP stands for Project Management Professional, and it is the most popular certification for project managers. So there's 2 ways that you can be eligible for your PMP certification. So in option 1, you have a bachelor's degree. So PMI, or the Project Management Institute, defines a bachelor's degree as a college program that's 3 years or more. So if you have graduated from a college program that's 3 years or more, then you fit into this category. Now there's a lot of people who ask, what if I have my MBA, or what if I have my PhD? Well, that still puts you in this category. So as long as you have more than 3 years of a college degree, then you fit into, into this category. Okay, so if you have a bachelor's degree or higher, then you need the following 3 requirements in order to write your PMP. The first one is you need 3 years or more of project management experience, and this project management experience has to be within the last 8 years. And on top of having 3 years, so from, you know, when you're listing out your experiences on your PMP application, the first— the length of time between the first experience and your last experience The total span of time has to be more than 3 years, so that's what that means. And it's not just any type of experience; it has to be project management related experience. So if you did an internship or you volunteered at the church or something like that, that unfortunately will not count towards your PMP application. Now the second requirement towards writing your PMP certification is that. During those three years or more, you also need 4,500 hours or more of leading and directing projects. So you don't just need a span of time, but it has to you also need the hours during that time as well. And then the last requirement is you need 35 contact hours of formal project management education. So that is something that we can actually provide you here at Exams PM. Okay, so the second way that you can be eligible for your PMP certification is if you have a high school diploma, so you don't have a bachelor's degree in this case. So if you don't have a bachelor's degree, then you need 5 years or more of project management experience from the last 8 years, and then you also need 7,500 hours or more of leading and directing projects. So you just need a bit more experience if you don't have your bachelor's degree. And then in both cases, whether you have a bachelor's degree or higher, or if you don't, you still need your 35 contact hours of formal project management education. And now another common question that we get asked a lot is, how is PMI going to verify these experiences? So when you're writing out your application, PMI will actually ask you to list a contact person for every single project that you have listed down on your application. So it's very rare, but PMI has the right to audit anyone who submits their application. PMI can actually go out and reach out to your contact person and ask them to verify that you have worked on these projects and you have done the tasks that you have listed and you have actually fulfilled the number of hours that you said you have. That's how PMI would verify your experiences. They do it on a random basis, so only a small, small number of people actually get audited. And it's completely random who gets audited. So I hope that by looking at this, you are now able to determine whether or not you are eligible to write your PMP.
