Turn Any Article into a Podcast with ONE Click! (Google's Notebook LM Tutorial)

In this tutorial, Helena Liu explains why podcasting is a massive opportunity—citing that 64% of Americans over 12 have listened to a podcast and 41% have done so within the last month—before demonstrating a two‑click workflow to create a fully‑produced AI‑generated podcast from any article. She walks viewers through signing into Google’s beta Notebook LM, creating a notebook, and adding up to 50 sources (PDFs, Google Docs/Slides, URLs, or raw text). Using an IBM article on AI as an example, she inserts the URL, generates a 17‑minute episode with two synthetic hosts (a male and a female), and plays a short excerpt. After generation, she downloads the audio file, then uploads it to Buzzsprout, a podcast‑hosting platform. By enabling Buzzsprout’s Co‑host AI, the title, description, and metadata are auto‑generated, allowing a single click to publish the episode across major platforms (Apple, Spotify, etc.). Helena also promotes her free AI and automation course and encourages likes, subscriptions, and checking the description for links to the sample podcast and course. The video combines market insight, step‑by‑step tool usage, and a live demo of AI‑driven podcast creation.
Chapters
Did you know that approximately 64% of Americans over the age of 12 have listened to at least one podcast episode in their lifetime? That translates to roughly 180 million people in the US alone. And out of those people, 41% have listened to a podcast episode within the last month. So look guys, podcasting is a huge opportunity to help you promote your product or services, or if you don't have one to promote, you can always be an affiliate partner and create other people's products and services and make a commission. On top of that, you can also monetize your podcast through advertising and sponsorship materials. Now today, the best news is I'm going to show you how you can create a brand new podcast channel with just 2 clicks. All right, let's get into it. So the first thing that we're going to do is to go to google.com and we're going to look for Notebook LM, which is a new tool that Google has just launched and it's in beta. So once we have signed up with our Google account, we can just press up here to try NotebookLM. We'll be taken to this dashboard, and we're going to create a new notebook. Now you can add up to 50 different sources that you want Google to take into consideration when it's creating this AI podcast. And I swear to you, we're going to listen to one in just a moment. But some of these podcast episodes are better than actual human episodes that I have listened to. So once I am here, I will be able to upload my sources. So I can upload the PDF or documentations that I want NotebookLM to know. I can also link it to a specific Google Doc or a Google Slide that I have in my Drive folder. I can upload a URL, or I can just copy and paste text. So in our example today, why don't we upload a URL? I found this article earlier from IBM, which is all about what is AI, and I read through it. It seems like a pretty comprehensive article that walks through the basics of artificial intelligence. So I'm going to go ahead and copy this link and go back to NotebookLM and paste in this link right here. So after I press Insert, I can see that I have a source right here that shows up. And if I want to add more sources, I can press the plus button again, drag and drop my documentation, or upload the appropriate type of documentation here at the bottom. And then I'll be able to see the second source here and third source, etc. Now that's it. We're done. So after we have uploaded our sources, I mean, see how easy it is, guys? You can turn any article now and repurpose it into a podcast episode that you can upload right away. So I just need to press generate here, and I have to wait about 2-3 minutes for this episode to finish generating. Okay, so it's been about 2-3 minutes, and we can see that our episode has finished generating. First of all, it's 17 minutes, so it is pretty beefy. Now let me play some of it for you.
Buckle up because today we are diving deep into the world of AI. Oh yeah, it feels like AI is absolutely everywhere these days.
It really does.
I mean, wasn't that incredible, guys? So Google will always create 2 hosts for the podcast, one female, one male, and they'll be talking to each other about the content that you have put in its training data here. So if you have a product that you want to create, you can also add the link to your product in addition to the article and it will just combine the 2 here together. And when you're ready to publish this article, just press the 3 dots and press download, which is what I'm going to do here. And we're going to then upload it to all of the major podcasting platforms with just one button. So for my podcast, I use a tool called Buzzsprout to help me upload all my podcast episodes on all of the platforms. And it's super simple to use. So once you have signed up with Buzzsprout and got approval from all of the podcasting platforms like Apple and Spotify. All you need to do is to upload your file. And Buzzsprout also has this feature called Co-host AI. So this is a second click that we have to do. So let's go ahead and turn on Co-host AI. You do get a free episode where you can try Co-host AI. And now I just have to drag and drop the file that we have just downloaded from NotebookLM. And that's it. So Co-host AI actually writes our title, description, and everything else for us. So we don't even need to do anything else except to just press publish. So it was really as easy as that. Like I said, 2 clicks, 1 click on NotebookLM and then 1 click on Buzzsprout, and you got a podcast episode. And I'm also going to include the link to this podcast episode down at the bottom here as well. Alright, so this wraps up our episode on how to create podcast episodes with AI using just 2 clicks.
Now let me the final product.
But before I do so, make sure you like and subscribe, please, and also sign up for my free AI and automations course as well. The link is going to be in the descriptions below. Now, without further ado, let's roll the tape. And I'm also going to include a link to this podcast episode below as well. All right.
All right, buckle up, because today we are diving deep into the world of AI. Oh yeah, it feels like AI is absolutely everywhere these days.
It really does.
It's everywhere, right? From self-driving cars to like streaming services and the recommendations that are eerily accurate, right? Yeah. It can almost feel like magic.
Absolutely. But—
But magic isn't.
The reality is it's less about magic and more about just really clever algorithms and tons of data.
Right.
So instead of thinking about like a complete takeover—
Oh, like the Terminator.
Yeah, exactly. Think of it as machines becoming really good at specific tasks.
Okay.
They're mimicking human intelligence, but only in these very specific areas.
So less Terminator, more like helpful tools.
Exactly.
I like it. We've got a great stack of sources to unpack here today.
We do.
From articles to research papers. And I think our mission today is to really try to Cut through the hype and give everyone a solid understanding of AI, the potential, but also the limitations.
Yeah, absolutely. And we'll be exploring everything from the foundations of machine learning to the honestly kind of mind-blowing world of deep learning, and what all the buzz is about with generative AI.
Yeah, generative AI.
Like ChatGPT.
ChatGPT, yeah. So speaking of buzz, the IBM article we have, it describes AI as this nested doll situation. What's the deal with that?
It's actually a great analogy. So imagine opening up a doll, and inside is another doll, and each one is a layer deeper. And so in the AI world, that outermost doll is machine learning, or as we call it, ML.
Okay, ML. So that's our starting point. What exactly is machine learning?
So at its core, machine learning is about algorithms learning patterns from data to then make decisions or predictions.
Right.
So let's say you're using like a navigation app on your phone.
Okay, sure.
And it suggests a faster route because of the traffic.
Yes.
That's machine learning in action.
Gotcha.
It's learned from like historical traffic patterns to be able to make a prediction.
Oh, interesting.
About the best route for you right now.
That makes a lot of sense. So instead of a programmer like writing very specific rules for every single possibility.
Exactly.
The ML, the machine learning algorithm, can kind of learn these rules on its own, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Just by like crunching all this data.
Exactly. By crunching the data, it learns and it adapts and it's able to adjust.
Pretty slick.
Yeah. So within ML, there are different approaches. Yeah, right.
Yeah, I'm talking about supervised learning, unsupervised learning.
Right. So a common analogy for supervised learning is teaching a dog a new trick.
Okay, so like teaching my dog Sparky to shake a paw.
Exactly. For a treat. Exactly.
All right, so I played you the first 3 minutes right there for the sake of time. I won't play the entire 17 minutes, but you can listen to it using the link in the description below. I mean, I'm just mind-blown here. Like, this whole podcast episode was created by AI. The title, the descriptions, the transcripts, the— just 2 clicks.
I mean, it's just mind-blowing.
So anyway, I hope you will give this a try, and I will see you in my next video. Talk to you soon.
