Which of the 49 processes DON'T have EEF and OPA as an input?

Helena Liu identifies which of the 49 PMBOK processes lack Enterprise Environmental Factors (EEF) or Organizational Process Assets (OPA) as inputs. Nine processes skip EEF: Close Project or Phase, Validate Scope, Control Scope, Control Schedule, Control Cost, Manage Quality, Control Resources, Implement Risk Responses, and Monitor Risks. Only Validate Scope and Monitor Risks omit OPA.

Now, a common input that you see on the 49 processes within the PMBOK Guide are EEF and OPA. First of all, if you never looked at any processes, you might be asking yourself, what is EEF and OPA? So in this video, we are going to deep dive into what is EEF and OPA and which processes don't have these 2 as an input. Let's begin starting with what is EEF. So EEF stands for Enterprise Environmental Factors, and I know that sounds like a funny word, but what What it means is that it represents the project conditions that you have to operate in as a project manager. The official definition based on the PMBOK 6th Edition guide is that enterprise environmental factors are the conditions not under the immediate control of the team that influence, constrain, or direct the project, portfolio, or program. In other words, it could be things like the project culture or the project management information systems. These are tools that you have to use or the external environment of the project that the project is operating in. So these things could have an effect on your project even though you don't have direct control over them and you need to be aware of what they are in order to make your project a success. Now let's go on to OPA. OPA stands for organizational process assets. I know this sounds like another funny word. So these refer to the plans, processes, and procedures within your company that you must follow in order to complete the project within your organization. What you need to note is that projects don't operate in a vacuum. They operate in an environment, in an organization, and you need to be aware of what type of organization you are dealing with. The official definition of OPA from the PMBOK 6th Edition Guide is that organizational process assets are the plans, procedures, processes, policies, and knowledge bases that are specific to and used by the performing organization. For example, how do you get vendors? This is the process that you may have to use to procure vendors and to onboard them, and you need to be aware of what these procedures and plans are as a project manager. Again, just to recap, EF is the external environment in which your project is operating in that could have an influence on your project, and OPA is the procedures and plans and policies that are already existing within your company that could have an effect on your project. Now, EEF and OPA are pretty much input to all of the 49 processes that you can see on the PMBOK Guide. Now, each of the 49 processes will have its own inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs. The inputs are the ingredients you need, and the tools and techniques are the methods in which you turn the inputs Into the outputs. However, there are a few processes that don't have EEF as an input. Let's take a look at what they are now. So they are close project or phase, validate scope, control scope, control schedule, control cost, manage quality, control resources, and implement risk responses and monitor risk. So these are the only processes that don't have EEF as an input. There are only 2 processes that do not have OPA as an input, and these are Validate Scope and Monitor Risk. Since almost every single one of the 49 processes has both EEF and OPA as an input, it's even faster just to remember the ones that don't have them, and this video has summarized the entire list for you. Here's a recap again of all of the processes that do not have EEF as an input, and here again is the list of the processes that do not have OPA as an input. So I hope you found this video helpful.
