A brief YouTube monologue by Hinesh Chauhan urging parents to listen and show genuine interest in what their children care about—even if the parent personally finds it trivial—because such attention maintains connection, encourages sharing, and reveals the child’s passion. He advises asking specific questions to ‘dig for that sparkle’ and to prioritize children’s emotional signals over adult anxieties.

Whether it's Minecraft, whether it's about some new Disney princess that looks like the last one with different hair color, I honestly, I don't really care. But you know what I do care about? I care about what my child has to say. And each of them has, has gone through periods and is going through a period where they share stuff with me where I actually don't care. But you know why I do care and why you should care? It's because it's important to them. If it's important to them, I actually do care because I just want them in my life. I want to be connected to them, I want to maintain a connection with them. And if you dismiss it, if you ignore it, if they see it, they read it in your body language and on your face, that means they're going to share less with you, they're going to clam up. And this is how they slowly pull away and pull back over the years is because you don't give a fuck. They can see that you don't give a fuck. Try to give more fucks, Give more fucks about what they're saying. Give less fucks about what's happening in your life. That stresses you out. That's what I try to do. I fail miserably at giving less fucks about all the things that create anxiety and stress and drive me nuts. But I do succeed a little bit by little bit. But what I do win at is listening to my kids. Because what I like seeing, and this is maybe what you have to dig for, is dig for that sparkle in there. I want to share about it and asking a question about something that you think you don't care. But when you ask any question about a specific about what they're telling you, they just go into it in detail and you see that passion and energy and happiness and how it impacts them and elevates them or contributes to their life and brings them something meaningful, which I hope you get meaning out of. So take it in, ask the questions.
