A short YouTube talk by Hinesh Chauhan addressing how an ex-wife's new partner can affect co-parenting and children after separation or divorce. The speaker outlines both positive possibilities (additional supportive adults) and negative risks (shifting attention to a new child, biased treatment, stricter rules), and advises maintaining open communication, integrity, and staying above board.

So now your ex wife has a new partner and he's influencing your kids. He sets rules. He may be less fair, he may be too strict or he may be a wonderful source of advice, influence and trust. And really it takes a villain. Let's get. Hi, I'm Hannes Chohan. Welcome to decent Divorce Dads. Today I want to talk about her new partner. Let's get started. Picture this. You're separated, you're divorced. You move onto your own lives respectively and now your ex wife has found a new partner. That individual is now in your kids lives. He is a source of influence in their life. He moves in with your ex wife. Now, he's setting rules and is in a parenting role to your children. Now they have a child together. That seriously shifts the dynamic in that household and how it impacts your kids. Let's back it up a little. Now your ex wife has a new partner and he's influencing your kids. He sets rules. He may be less fair, he may be too strict. Or he may be a wonderful source of advice, influence and trust. And really it takes a village. So the more adults that are there to love your children is wonderful. And on the positive side, having somebody that's a positive influence with their parents and siblings and nephews and nieces all coming together is a wonderful thing. The flip side that you should be aware of is bringing a new child into that household takes away the attention that goes towards your kids. There could be a bias with that new partner favoring that new child versus your kids that impacts your kids in a really big way. And there's so much more that goes with that. How do you talk about that with your ex partner? How do you have that discussion with your kids? How do your kids have that discussion with this new new man? It brings on a whole set of complications and impacts to the dynamic you have in co parenting your kids and all the potential insecurities that come when someone comes into this arrangement and sees you as the ex partner of his wife and the individual that's already had children with his wife. It's complicated. You can manage this. Stay above board in everything. The dynamic is really complicated. Keep an open dialogue with your kids if you're in that situation. We're going to talk more about this later. If you're not in this situation and not divorced, if you're thinking separation or divorce, I want you to realize the realities of your future. Keep it in mind. Make your decisions with integrity. I really hope you enjoyed that guys.
