Some people, some of my friends, I hear how they lost that cottage they got to use or the stories of that fun drunk uncle. The quintessential drunk uncle unfortunately doesn't exist in my family or my former in laws. Let's get. Hi, I'm Hinesh Chohan. This is decent divorced dads. Today we're going to be talking about the loss of in laws. Let's get started. Now that term loss of in laws probably brings on a positive tone because of how many stories you hear about the challenges of my mother in law this or that. But when you marry, you're marrying the entire family and generally you get along with those people. I know in my experience I really enjoyed my mother, father in law and brother in law and the extended family and we would host all the holiday dinners at our house. It was fun growing up with just my parents and my brother. We had no extended family and that was something I really, really felt I missed out on. There weren't the uncles or aunts or grandparents that you got to know and who shared their values and stories. I got that with my in laws and some people, some of my friends, I hear how they lost that cottage they got to use or the stories of that fun drunk uncle. The quintessential drunk uncle unfortunately doesn't exist in my family or my former in laws, although I wish he had. It's a shame, but what I'm trying to say is that I lost my golf weekends with my brother in law. I lost a whole family with my divorce because that's naturally what happens and you can stay in touch but the reality is as time goes along you lose that connection or they stay loyal to your ex wife and it's that entire family that you lose which is your community, which are the people that help raise your kids. And so now half of the time your kids don't have exposure to that side. It's a loss and it's not just losing or parting with your partner. I want you to realize that it's much greater you married into that family. That family's there with you. You will lose that family. Something to consider when you make any decisions and decide whether to work at your marriage and fight for it or walk away. Make your decisions with integrity. I really hope you enjoyed that guys.
