Hinesh Chauhan talks with divorce attorney and coach Jenny Shane about why women feel unsupported at home. Primary caregivers often handle childcare and housework alone, which erodes intimacy and wellbeing. Men and women struggle to communicate needs in ways the other can hear.

You. In my conversation with attorney, mediator, divorce coach Jenny Shane, what came up is that women feel unsupported. They feel unsupported. That was the common message across all her clients, all her female clients. Is that double checking my notes here is that they were the primary caregiver, they spent all the time looking after the kids, were responsible for them. And I shared in my chat with her, I see memes of how stressed moms are and preparing for trips, taking care of themselves, packing for the kids, and probably for their husbands too. And husbands show up and, and I'm not bashing men out there. I'm talking about generalizations which are reflected by trends, statistics, and really greater majority of families out there. This is how it works. Women generally have that weight, that responsibility, and they feel unsupported. So imagine if you were in a sports team playing and your teammates didn't do anything to help you, to support you, or your buddies did, or even your wife didn't support you whenever you do. I'm just trying to think of examples. So anybody out there's listening to me thinking, this guy's an idiot. You're so wrong. Trying to make this real intangible for you. If you felt unsupported, how much could you carry on being in an environment where your boss didn't take you seriously, didn't listen to you, didn't support you for the your needs, didn't give you the resources required for you to carry out your responsibilities? It's the same at home. If you're not supporting your wife with the kids and other responsibilities, have the discussion, balance it out, listen when you hear it. And it shouldn't come with an ultimatum. And this, this is the problem. Women don't communicate it in the way men need it. And men aren't receiving it because it's not coming in the way that they can absorb it. So don't be a statistic, help out, increase that support, understand what it needs to give her what she needs and talk about what you need. Because listen, a lot of guys I've heard from a lot complain about not getting the intimate romance that they want. And if your partner's not getting what they want, it's hard for them to give you what you want. And then it's a chicken and egg thing. So take the leadership role, step up, do what you need to do to square things off and start getting what you want. Fill me in how that's working out.
