A short YouTube monologue by Hinesh Chauhan (uploaded Aug 24, 2023) questioning why forms require marital-status boxes (divorced, single, married). He wonders which label is most relevant—being single, divorced, or a parent—and expresses bafflement at tick-box categories.
You know, as I'm stuffing my face here, I'm thinking about some stuff and think of who cares if you're divorced, single, married when you're filling up paperwork? Why does that matter? What if you've been divorced for 20 years? How is that a factor in any sort of paperwork? I do. I think a more important question is, am I married, am I single, and am I a parent? But I'm always baffled at having to tick that box and think, wait, I'm single as well, ladies. I'm single, but I'm also divorced. Which one's more relevant?
