Quality Matters with a Heart

A short conversational excerpt from a May 2024 YouTube video by Hinesh Chauhan about practical business growth: prioritize execution over perfection (‘done beats perfect’), focus on relationships and hiring the right people for the business (not merely the role), and build systems that enable scalable growth rather than obsessing over perfect digital marketing or web presence.
To be a global, forget global. If it's going to be a multi state business, we don't have time to talk about basements and attics and ceilings. You know, he was trying to put in place a system that would allow them to grow and they were focused on. So I thought about that when you said that.
Yes, yes, that's, that's a really good comparison and I wish I had a better memory to retain everything I watched. But that's, that's a great movie for that and just seeing how he took that and ran with it and because there's quality matters. But done beats perfect. And you can't look at your business, especially at the onset and say okay, I need a perfect. I need a good digital marketing strategy. I need a perfect website. I need to. It's, it's about the people, it's about the relationships and who you hire. Don't. This is another really important aspect is don't hire people for the role. Hire them for the business and who they are that they, everybody can learn. You pick the right people, they can be trained, they can be taught. But make sure that the person is right.
The nuggets I'm writing down, I'm writing them down because you said first of all, done beats perfect. All right, done beats perfect. I think a lot of people miss that because they are trying to get all their ducks in a row and then the, the, the moment pass the window of opportunity, closed the season, change. And then I love what you say when you say hire people for the business, not the role. Talk about that a little bit.
Oh yes, yes. And this is, I help clients even change the way they interview and recruit with, with questions that are more values based and not, not the typical, you know, what are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Tell us about a time where you're facing this or that. It's, it's getting to know them. It's what do you like doing for fun? Because what's again lost on most leaders is what happens in their personal life is going to impact their professional life and vice versa. So you want them to be fulfilled and happy in both spaces so that they can be the best person for you, for the organization, for themselves, for their families, for everybody. And that's a win win you want, you always want that win win situation. So hiring that person that's a good fit is somebody who is, has integrity and you start talking to that about being transparent about saying or doing what you say you're going to do and finding those people, people who are you know, this is what I'm not strong at, and I'm working at it. That's good. I want to know who I'm working with. I want to understand your weaknesses so I can help develop you or where I need to pay more attention. And if you're a very good communicator, this is your forte. Of course, once you've proven it, then I know I don't have to worry about that or the stuff I don't like doing or stuff that I am challenged to find time for. No, I can delegate it to that individual. So get to know that person and then start developing them, training them, and rising, raising them up, because Rising Tide lifts all boats. And when you create that in the business, that's the culture that you'll develop and everybody will support and help everybody. And that, that is what is conveyed to clients as well. So.
