Learn how to use the Arsenal Smith Machine's built-in safety catches. Turn them outward before lifting so the bar moves freely, then re-engage after each rep. Adjust the catch height for squats, deadlifts, presses, and rows to match your range of motion.

So here we've got our Arsenal Smith Machine. So when you're using this machine, you want to make sure you spot yourself. And so the way you're going to do that is use these self spotters here, or catches if you will. And so depending on what you're trying to do, whether it's squats or it's deadlifts, it's pressing, bent over rows, whatever the case may be, that's how you would adjust safety-wise as far as your catch and spot. You've got a catch here, so you would turn that out, and then that way you're able to now have the bar slide up or down on the machine. And then once you're done, you would just turn it and then have it catch wherever catch point makes sense to your lift that you're doing.
