Jesus Gabriel Mendez passed out at the gym from poor sleep, energy drinks, and junk food despite financial success. He rebuilt his life through small changes: consistent 11:30 pm bedtime, morning routine with lemon-turmeric tea, walks to the gym, and tidying his space. He stresses consistency, environment, and rejecting social media's fake highlight reel.

Right now it's 6:42 PM, Saturday, March— not March, it's May 17th. In about less than a month, I'm gonna be 21 years old. And over the last, I would say honestly, last couple months, I haven't been as perfect, as consistent as I've always wanted to be. And I know if I'm dealing with that issue, I know you guys are, not all of you, but I know at least a couple of you are dealing with the same thing of just feeling like you're stuck, feeling like you're not making much progress, feeling like you're just in the same exact position every day, feeling like you're in a plateau, right? And that's how I've kind of been feeling up until like the last couple weeks of me actually getting into a routine and starting to change these little habits, these bad habits starting to change from bad habits to good habits that I have formed over the past couple months, right? I know you guys, if you guys follow me on Instagram, I used to post my push-ups every single day. I used to post me going to the gym every single day, post my meal prep meals every single day, and I got comfortable, if I'm being completely honest. As much as I shit on you guys and really try to emphasize to not be comfortable, to put yourself in positions where your back is against the wall, to put yourself in a position where you're constantly growing every single day and you're stacking these wins is something that I also emphasize a lot. I lost the touch of it, right? I got comfortable. I got comfortable with the money that I was making. I got comfortable with the place that I was in. I, I kept upgrading my lifestyle, and it wasn't making me any happier. I got a bigger place. I got a more expensive car. I gave my parents more money. I was eating more expensive foods. I was living the dream life, but I was comfortable. And as a man, I wasn't growing. I wasn't making any progress. And I know for a lot of you guys, even though you might be in the same position that you were in last year, when you look in the mirror, you don't feel good. And that was something that I felt. I would look in the mirror and I would look at my body and say, you're not in the shape that you're supposed to be in. You're 20 years old. And everything kind of reached a breaking point for me, which you're going to feel the exact same thing, whether it be an extreme breaking point, or it might be just a little one where your parents say something, a buddy says something. Or you just look in the mirror and you realize like you're fucking up, right? For me, it was— I was at the gym. Keep in mind, I'm 20 years old. Yes, I look fucking older. It is what it is. I'm fucking stressed all the time. I was in the gym and I fucking passed out. Why? Because of all these bad habits that I've slowly been building over the last couple months. And it all led to this breaking point of me passing out. Why? Because I wasn't in the most positive mindset. Right, I wasn't being the best version of myself that I could be. I wasn't in the best shape that I'm supposed to be in as a 20-year-old man in his peak testosterone phase, right? I'm living— I was living off Red Bulls and whatever shitty food I could find that looked the best on Uber Eats, right? I would eat once a day. I wouldn't drink any— take any vitamins, drink any vitamins, right? I would drink Diet Coke instead of water. Right, all these bad habits. My place would look like shit. Yes, it's a penthouse. Yes, I pay $4,000 a month, but it fucking looks like a trap house in here. You got Diet Coke bottles everywhere, you got chips out in the open, my dirty clothes everywhere, right? I have to wear a shirt with a fucking penny on it because that's the only clean shirt that I have that I never wear, right? All these things led up to that breaking point. And you might say, oh Jay, maybe you didn't sleep well that night. No, it was a combination of everything. Of me not going to bed on time, right? About me staying on my phone overnight, about me talking to girls that I was supposed to talk to, about me doing all these things and building all these bad habits to come to that breaking point, right? And when that happened, it was like, fuck, you know, I was already not feeling my best, and it's like, fuck, what am I doing, right? As a kid, I dreamed about having all these things, and I got all these things, but I'm not making any progress as a man. So my dream as a man is is not being fulfilled, right? Yes, I'm helping people. Yes, I'm making content. Yes, I'm closing deals. Yes, I'm making the money I could only ever dream of a couple years ago. But in my current present state, I'm not being the best version that I can be. Now, I can just sit here and tell you, yeah bro, I locked in. Yeah bro, I started eating healthy. Yeah bro, this, that. But it's like, that's not the reality of it. It's, it's building these small habits back up. Because I was at a phase a couple months back where I was waking up at 4 AM every single day, doing my 50 push-ups every single morning, drinking and eating my vitamins, eating meal prep, right? Doing all these things, going to the gym consistently, posting every single day, which as you guys can see, I posted in the past 3 days consistently. Granted, I haven't gotten the best views, but that's completely my fault because I haven't posted in a month, right? So building yourself back up is how you're going to define the future of your results, right? Building yourself back up is how you're going to get out of that plateau, right? And it's going to be little by little habits. How did it start for me? I've always had terrible sleep. I like to blame insomnia, which I've never been prescribed that, or, or I don't even know what you call it, but by a doctor. I, I just made that excuse, right? I got a lot of things on my mind. I've just kept making excuses for myself instead of taking every single step that I can to make it as easy as possible for me to go to bed early, right? Which now I go to bed 11:30 every single night. I'm tired now at 11:30. Why? Because I've been building these habits over the last couple days of like, all right, I know I need to do this. I know I can't go to bed early if I feel like I haven't been productive today. I can't go to bed early if I didn't have a really hard workout. I can't go to bed early if I drank Red Bull after 6 PM. I can't go to bed early if I'm talking to girls. I can't go to bed early if I'm stacking all these factors. So what did I do? Little by little I started getting rid of these factors. Past couple days I haven't been even drinking Red Bull. I've just been drinking water or I've been making smoothies or I've been switching it to something different to where it actually helps me. Right now I'm not watching movies. Now I'm not playing Call of Duty. Now I'm not talking to girls. Now I'm not on my phone watching TikToks till 3 in the morning. So what change does that make? Now I'm waking up at 7 in the morning, right? 7 AM. I have an extra 3, 4 hours to my day versus the time that I was in a plateau versus the time that I wasn't feeling my best. So now I have 4 extra hours in my day to build better habits, right? Right now I wake up early in the morning, right? I take a shower first thing in the morning. It doesn't have to be a cold shower. You don't have to dip your face in fucking ice water. None of that shit's gonna make you more money or make you feel better. But the simple fact of doing something different that makes you as a human progress to be a better person, that's all that matters. So I'm waking up early, I'm doing a face routine in the morning, I'm drinking tea with lemon, with honey, with turmeric in the morning. I'm eating fruit in the morning. Right now I'm feeling completely energized in the morning because I had a good night's sleep, right? Now that I have a good night's sleep, now I can look after my place and not be in a rush to get on calls, not be in a rush to talk to clients, not be in a rush to talk to sellers, not be in a rush to talk to my team members when my whole brain is scattered, right? Because I'm building these good habits, Right, I'm waking up early. One of the bad things was that my excuse for my place being dirty was, oh, the place doesn't matter, all that matters is my desk. And my desk would always be clean, but then I'd go out and sit on the couch, it's full of fucking dirty clothes, right? It's full of clothes that I'm supposed to fold. My countertop is full of fucking bullshit, right? Now everything is clean, so now I look and walk around my space and I can actually think, right? I can think about new video ideas, I can think about new trainings that I can make for you guys, I can think about things that will help me become a better person that can help me provide more impact into the world, right? Because I have more time throughout the day, because I feel healthier, because I'm going to the gym consistently. My excuse since I dropped my car off at the shop— my gym is literally across the fucking street, right? My excuse was I don't want to walk. Are you fucking kidding me, bro? Now I'm walking every single day to the gym, right? I'm getting some sunlight, right? I'm stacking these factors that will help me become more consistent. Right? I haven't read a book probably in fucking 2 months. Now I'm listening to audiobooks on my walk to the gym. I'm thinking of video ideas. I'm thinking about ways that I can make more progress, not only in my business but also in my personal life. You can see this is one of the audiobooks that I would have never sat down and just listened to, but I incorporated into something positive. And now instead of listening to music on that walk, I'm listening to a book. 2 hours of this audiobook that I'm listening to, right? That I wouldn't have sat down and read for 2 hours myself. So it's about making it as easy as possible, as frictionless as possible, to become the best person that you can be. So you can look in the mirror and say, today I did good. Today I did my best that I could. Today I made progress. Today I stacked wins. Today I helped somebody out. Today I helped myself out over anything. Because you can't fill somebody else's cup up if your cup is fucking empty and drained. And all crushed up, right? And that's how I felt sometimes about even sitting down thinking about a video idea, right? I'm like, fuck, bro, I have nothing to give. Why did I have nothing to give? Because I wasn't the best person that I could be. I wasn't setting the example. I wasn't being a leader myself. If I couldn't lead myself to be the best version that I could be, how am I supposed to lead you guys? How am I supposed to lead my team? How am I supposed to lead sellers to a situation that they couldn't even control, but they need help with, right? How am I supposed to have the confidence within myself to sit here and be myself in a certain way, right? Otherwise I would be playing a character. And that's why for the past month I haven't posted anything, because I would have been playing a character of this confident guy that's successful, that's doing all these things, that's super consistent, that is an example for other 20-year-olds, that is an example for 25-year-olds, for 30-year-olds, for 40-year-olds. For even younger kids, right? How can I sit here and lie? That's something that I don't like doing, and I don't recommend none of you guys do, when especially when you're doing it for yourself, right? Because when you lie, you make yourself feel even worse, and eventually you're gonna get exposed, right? If I would have— if I would have made a video about consistency, one of my friends would have gotten on my ass and been like, bro, you know you're waking up fucking late, you know you're eating like shit, you know you're not going to the gym consistently. Recently. You know you haven't made your calls, right? Because my friend group is, is that version, right? Not all of them are perfect, but I'm surrounded by people that also want to reach the same goal. And that's another thing for you guys, that if you're in an environment— maybe you're with your parents, which is the case that I was in. I was sitting at my parents' house in one of their bedrooms, and my mom would shit on me every single day because I didn't want to go to college, right? I didn't want to go to college. She kept shitting on me about family members and cousins. If you guys are watching this video, nothing against you guys, but it was a negative time in my life where I was trying to make progress, but the environment was just not helping me at all, right? So that's when I closed those first couple deals. I saved some money, I reinvested back into the business, and then like a year after, I got an office, right? I got an office to be in my own space, and I practically lived there, right? Because I didn't want to be in the environment where negativity was around me, where I was where I kept getting pushed down. And a lot of you guys, it might be a different type of example. It might be your workplace where you're talking about you wanting to do wholesaling, or you might be wanting to do a different business model, and then your coworkers are talking shit about you. You tell your parents about this opportunity, your parents are talking shit about you, right? You tell your friends that are bum asses, and you're telling them, hey, I want to do this, I don't want to do this anymore, right? And they're all bringing you down. Your environment is very, very important. Granted, I have really, really good friends that we all help build each other to become the best version that we can be. And I've only gotten this friend group when I became a certain type of person, right? When I made a certain amount of money, when I had a certain personal brand, when I had a certain aura to myself, of myself. When I walked in the room, you knew I meant business, right? Which I still do, but we all have ups and downs. But the goal is to not have these crazy ups and crazy downs, is to be and a somewhat consistent median. As long as you have a consistent median, you will be okay. You will be successful. The universe will reward you, right? Because nobody's fucking perfect. And I'm making this video to show you guys I'm not fucking perfect. Even though sometimes I like to portray that, hey, I'm perfect, I've never messed up on a call, I'm the perfect scenario, I got lucky, whatever. Like, I'm not a perfect person, right? Nobody on social media is. And these guys that you see, maybe you'll see another 20-year-old get a McLaren or another 20-year-old get a Ferrari. But you don't see the work behind it, right? This social media shit is honestly a highlight reel for 99% of people, and I try to make that difference of like, hey, I'm going to make a video when I'm not feeling the best. When I made it when I was feeling very overwhelmed and I was feeling— I don't know, I was procrastinating a lot. I made a video and a lot of you guys related to it because a lot of other people won't post shit like that because it doesn't make them feel perfect. It doesn't make them portray themselves as perfect. I'm not trying to portray myself as perfect because I'm not, right? But I know if I'm going through a rough phase, somebody else is, and I know this video is going to help somebody else make progress in their life, either close their first deal— I thought somebody was knocking on my door. It's just my chair. But yeah, I know this video is going to help somebody else because I know it's going to help me maybe 6 months from now when I'm not feeling my best and I can look back at this video and say, you know what, I got out of that rut. I was able to do this, this, this, this, this. And then I'm back on the right track, which I am right now. I'm feeling the best. I'm feeling super healthy. I look in better shape, right? I'm making more money. All these things are stacked and combined factors that if you do it on a consistent basis, bro, if you do everything consistently as you can for a whole month, your life is going to change. For fucking 2 months, your life is going to change. 6 months, your life is going to change. And even if it doesn't, What are you, just gonna quit? You're gonna go back to your, your, your old ways where you know the result of the old ways? Doesn't make any sense. But yeah, I appreciate you guys listening to me. If you like the video, like, comment, subscribe. Follow me on Instagram @modestmendez. And, um, hope you guys have a great Saturday. Don't go out to the club tonight, which I am going to avoid. I'll see you, boys.
