Take a moment to arrive here, right where you are. Close your eyes and notice the irony of this moment. You're exhausted, and yet rest feels completely out of reach. Your body wants you to stop, but your mind will not let it. Your nervous system is running even though there is nowhere left to run. This is not a personal failing. This is what happens when a human being has been in survival mode for too long. When the doing has gone on so far past the point of sustainability that the off switch no longer responds. As you inhale, give yourself permission to be exactly this: tired and unable to rest, both things at once, without judgment. And as you exhale, imagine your nervous system receiving a signal it has been desperate to hear: that you are safe right now, that nothing requires your vigilance in this moment. That you are allowed to put it all down. You do not have to sleep. You do not have to fix the restlessness. You just have to stay here for this one breath and let your body remember what stillness feels like. Rest begins here, even like this. I'm sending you so much love.
