RCTRL AI Review Check Your Website’s Visibility in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, & AI Search 🌐 EP #599

Jay demos RCTRL, a tool that checks if your website shows up in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI search results. His site got a domain rating of 26 and identified AI consulting as his niche, with Coursera and SkyTeam Labs cited as authority sources. RCTRL costs $400 a month; Jay compares it to his own product Cited, which offers one-off reports.

RCTRL is a website that allows you to explore the likelihood of your website being included in outputs from large language models. If this is your first time here, my name is Jay and this is the Everyday AI channel where we teach you how you can use AI in your daily lives. So I'm going to dive right into this here, and ultimately the aim is to be the answer in outputs from large language models like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Gemini, all that kind of good stuff, even Google AI overviews. And, uh, some of you may know I'm building a similar sort of platform called Cited. And, uh, yeah, ultimately it basically gives you a full report as to why, uh, you know, your website would or wouldn't be included in outputs from large language model. The link to that is simply cited.online. But that's enough shilling from me. We're gonna dive right into— I'm not sure how to pronounce this site, but but I'm just going to call it by the letters, which are rctrl.com. And, uh, yeah, we're gonna see exactly what we can do here. They've given us a bit of an insight into their protocol in terms of how they win in AI search. Take a look at their pricing. Okay, so they're on a— yeah, so they do things on a monthly basis, $400 a month compared to Cited. Cited is just a one-off sort of, um, just a one-off check and it gives you a full report. You can just upload into your large language model connected to your website if you're using things like, uh, Cursor or Lovable, and it'll just fix it for you. I guess this is going for a slightly different sort of target. In any case, we're going to dive right into this. I'm going to put in my website in here, which is of course jjohnson.co.uk, and we are going to see exactly what it gives us. Okay, cool. So let's take a look. Saying— okay, cool. So it's hearing what ChatGPT tells my buyers. I'm just gonna come back once this is done. Okay, cool. And we've got the visibility report here. We've got a domain rating of 26. Okay, cool. Sweet. So let's see what we've got here. So the market is AI consulting, training, and workflow coaching, project-based professional service, hands-on training tied to deployed workflows. Certainly true. We've got 4 buyer questions, 3 answers pulled from ChatGPT, and a few recommendations traced and competitions sized up. Okay, great. So we've got the first question. You can see who's actually being cited in these. How much does AI consulting cost? Okay, cool. Good stuff. Now, of course, most of my sort of inquiries don't actually come from large language models. I just use my website as a test. Most of my inquiries come from preexisting networks that I already have built over the last 4 or 5 years having run my consultancy. So that's what keeps us going and keeps us afloat. But it's interesting to see here what we could do to actually improve it if we were keen on pulling the lever on AI search and AI visibility. So we can see here what that authority is built from. So a lot of them is articles, at least in the case of Coursera. Okay, interesting. So there's about, it looks like 800 pages on articles there. Cool. Really interesting stuff. We can see referring domains. Coursera of course has a whole lot of content on that. And we can see where the answers can be taken. How much does AI consulting cost? Okay, cool. What holds the answer today? Interesting. So this is a link to a website called SkyTeam Labs. Is corporate AI training worth it? Interesting. So I could take this and essentially use it to— I could just copy all the, all the information on here, slap it into Claude, be like, uh, you know, and say something like, create a plan to help me improve, uh, the standing, uh, of my website. You know, what should we do? Should I write some articles with these specific keywords? All that kind of stuff.
I'm actually pleased to announce I've launched one of my first digital products, which is a 7-day prompting ebook. I've called it Perfecting Prompts, and it's essentially a 7-day crash course on how you can improve your prompting so that you can supercharge your productivity. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave the link to Perfecting Prompts below. I put in a lot of work into it, and in there I actually include some frameworks that I teach to global corporations. Definitely check it out.
Of course, you know, optimizing my site for Um, well, I mean, it's already sort of— it's, it's fairly optimized for, uh, AI visibility if someone is looking directly for me. But, you know, sort of, I'm not necessarily looking to take the, uh, mindshare away from Coursera. I think that would be quite a big task. In any case, it's good to know, uh, where I stand in this, and it may be useful for you to know where your website stands with this, particularly if you're a smaller startup or even if you're a pre-existing and, you know, well-established corporation. This could be
