Right now I'm in a transition. Yeah. So I have this difference between being a mom or parent, the 24-hour caregiver, and being back to who I am. So I'm taking care of myself 24/7. That's a new thing and it's something— there are different landmarks throughout our experience as women. I think. That we should have a village for. Marriage. Please, sisters, grandmothers, aunties, tell me about that so that I have all the information so that I can embody that before.
I love the word embody. Yes.
And then I also thought I'd just bring up that there's a conversation brewing for me about female-bodied people versus people who identify as female, our lived experiences are very different. For you and I, maybe the stereotypes of girls wear dresses was something that was enforced in our youth, and then younger women have been allowed to see their gender as fluid or to embody femininity the way that they want to versus the way that they were told to. And I feel like that's a hot spot. I welcome the dialogue, I welcome the conversation, but I also think it's kind of like— and this isn't really— they're not really kin, but like, they're not apples to apples. There was a time when gay people couldn't be themselves in public.
I still think it's tricky.
And there were people who fought for them. There were people who stood up so that the next generation could have some sort of normalcy about their experience being gay. I think the people who fought and the people who went through the shit that they did are often forgotten. And the history of where the gay community came from is the backbone of where they came from. So even you and I are afforded so many freedoms, right? The sex— yes, yeah— that our mothers and grandmothers fought for.
Absolutely.
Believed that were futile fight, like, never gonna change. I'm never gonna be able to have a credit card or have my own apartment. And that's so recent, so Fascinating to me how there are still some people who are just of that same sort of old school mindset.
And they're going back that way because that's what man wants us to do. They're pulling back and woman needs to be in the home. That's kind of what's happening. We're regressing. That's why we have to be even louder. Let's just hop on cuz this is great. Are you ready?
I'm ready.
You ready? Okay. I'm just gonna record and I will edit later. I'm gonna see if we can livestream. Why not? See, do you mind doing that? I don't think we can.
I'm curious as to what my title is though. I think I'm just like a human woman. I'm trying to decide like what my focus of expertise. I'm probably a healer in some way, but we don't necessarily walk around calling me that.
Yes, we do. It says remind participants to watch livestream. I don't know if we're livestreaming. Can you check my YouTube channel? I can hang on. I don't think I'm hooked up that way.
What is your—
it's Dr. Jo Tula Soul, and I have a little podcast thing set up. Let me see. I don't think we're live. Okay. But we're just pretending that we are. Okay, actually, let me just fiddle around here and see if we can go live.
I wonder if I click on the, the word live, if that will be—
Yeah, that's what I, that's what I did.
Live. And then you has no videos.
Okay, so live. There's got to be a setting that I have to do to do this. Settings. Okay, let me just see.
I'm just gonna grab something real quick.
Let's see. Okay, let's ask ChatGPT. How do we go live on YouTube? I'm recording a podcast right now. How do we go live on YouTube?
To go live on YouTube, you'll first need to have live streaming enabled on your account. So make sure that's— You can use the YouTube app on your phone or streaming tool on your computer. Open YouTube, hit create, then start streaming. Be sure you have a stable internet connection. If you need any specifics—
Can we use Zoom to do that?
Enable custom live streaming in your Zoom settings.
In the regular settings.
Once you toggle on YouTube and any others, you'll be able to set it up easily when you're live. If you need to link accounts, Zoom will prompt you.
So I'm on your YouTube channel, view advanced settings or manage your channels. YouTube Studio.
You'll confirm live streaming.
Okay, you see— no, I don't. Okay, okay, hang on, I gotta find the studio.
Just head over to YouTube Studio. You can access it by clicking your profile icon and Oh, okay.
YouTube Studio. I found it finally.
Ensure your live streaming is enabled.
Okay, be quiet now.
Are you here, Angela?
I'm here.
Okay, okay. Live stream. I'm just getting this set up. Why is this so hard for me? Where's the damn settings?
Look at the left sidebar. I see a settings option near the bottom.
Oh, there it is. Yes.
Including feature eligibility.
Okay. So I'm in the set where it says general channel upload permissions.
There's—
instead of permissions, look for channel and then a tab like feature eligibility or advanced settings. Android will confirm live streaming. That's on. Your Zoom YouTube connection will be ready.
Standard features, intermediate features, and advanced are enabled.
Are window enabled? Connect smoothly.
You've done the hard— Okay.
Just slow the fuck down.
So it's on live.
Now I'm on my little YouTube. Channel, right?
Exactly.
And then I go to live.
Yes, that's it.
You'll click go live or free and it'll guide you to start your live stream.
Okay. But let's go. Okay. So I'm gonna hit my Dr. Jo Show. Okay. Yes. And then I'm gonna hit live.
You got it. Once you hit live and just make sure you're ready and then you'll be sharing in real time.
Okay. But so do I have to add an episode?
What?
Okay. Gotcha. Hey, I'm almost there. Okay. Sweet. Okay. So here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Now we're almost ready. Create. Go live. Oh, okay. And then it'll just automatically go to Zoom, or do I have to set that up?
You'll initiate it.
Okay.
And choose live.
Okay.
And then it'll push the feed live. Take a quick final step in Zoom.
Damn near. Okay. We're gonna do this.
Roughly how much time do you want?
Um, half hour.
If anything pops up, I'm here.
I don't have a DVR, Allison.
Okay. Okay.
Glasses or no glasses?
You look great either way.
Okay.
I'm feeling ready.
You've got this.
Okay. Sounds good. I think my YouTube— okay. We're going live. We're going live. Girl. Girl, we're going to do this.
Right.
Oh, we got the chat on too. That's sweet. Jump in, come see, give me some comments and questions. That's cool, right? And I even have a place for top fans. Okay, it just takes a moment here. That wasn't too bad, but ChatGPT helped me much.
Sometimes you just need a little AI for—
Yeah, you do. I mean, it really does help. Yeah, it really does help. Okay, come on, let's go. This is good. We get a little pep moment so we can like Take some breaths.
How do you feel? Are you nervous?
No, I'm really excited. I'm just going to do a little intro and then I'll kind of read it.
Great.
