How Much Money I Lost Before Becoming a Profitable Forex Trader

Josiah Stewart lost roughly $40,000 across multiple forex accounts in 5-6 months through overconfidence, revenge trading, and ignoring stop-losses. After blowing a $15,000 account and failing with $5,000 and $10,000 accounts, he adopted proper risk management and became consistently profitable.

Loaded up bands into an account, blew it all multiple times. Like I was not experienced at all. But if the Signals Chat is something that interests you, link inside the description, also inside the comments down below. But let's get into these numbers, baby. All right, so let's, let's go to the beginning, right? How did I, how did I get started? Forex. If you guys didn't know, I've been trading forex for almost 3 years now. What got me into it, I remember I was at my house, right? I saw this video pop up on my YouTube recommended page by Swaggy C. Swaggy C is a day trader if you don't know. I love watching his content. He's very— I like— he's like the first person I bought his course. I bought— keep in mind, I probably bought like 3 or 4 people's courses, but I bought his course. It was pretty good. Um, but I watched the video that he put up. It was a video called Day in the Life of a millionaire forex trader or something like that. Now keep in mind, I didn't know what the heck forex trading was. I might have like heard it sometimes, 'cause y'all know the whole wave was people like recruiting for forex and all that, but I never got like trapped into that IML pyramid scheme crap, you know what I'm saying? So I had heard the word forex, but I didn't know what the heck it was. Then I watched the video and I saw in his day in the life of a millionaire day trader or forex trader, whatever it was, he made like $17,000 in one day. So I'm like, okay, wait a minute. Now keep in mind, I was already making money, you know what I'm saying? I was making pretty good money from YouTube. The different businesses I had going on, you know what I'm saying? I was doing pretty good, but I'm like, $17,000 in a day, that sounds beautiful. I wanna know what the heck he did to do that. So I watched the video and then I kind of got stuck. I was just watching a whole bunch of Forex videos. You can ask my wife. Like, as soon as I heard about Swaggy C, I watched that one day in the life video. And for the rest of like the whole month or next couple weeks, all I was watching was Forex videos. I was trying to learn everything. I was trying to be the GOAT 'cause I wanted $17,000 in one day from forex trading. So I got, I feel like, I don't know, I don't know what happened. So I opened, and I'm saying this 'cause I don't know where this confidence came from, but I could tell you where I think it came from. So after studying forex for maybe like 2 weeks, right? I was studying and watching a bunch of videos. I decided to open up a demo account, right? So I opened up a demo account and had $100K in the demo account. I remember it was a gold trade 'cause that's what Swaggy C used to trade. So that's why I wanted, I wanted to be like Swaggy C. So I'm like, okay, I'm gonna trade gold just like Swaggy C trades gold. So I hopped in a gold trade on the, um, on the demo account. Now I used a crazy high lot size. I didn't know what the heck lot sizes was. I just put in a number. I think I put in like 30 or something like that. And then gold moved like 3 pips and I was up $30,000. I'm like, oh, this is easy. I'm like, I'm the GOAT. I just made $30,000 in 2 seconds. Keep in mind I had a crazy high lot size, so it only moved like 2 or 3 pips or something like that. And the number said $30,000. So I'm like, bruh, I'm, I'm the best forex trader in the world, you know what I'm saying? So secured it, closed the trade on the demo account for $30K. I'm like, bruh, I'm quitting YouTube, I'm quitting businesses, I'm closing everything down, I'm going full-time trader, I'm a day trader, I'm gonna link up with, with Swaggy C and we finna be best friends trading our way to a billion dollars, you know what I'm saying? So After I had that little spike of adrenaline and I felt great, what did I do? I loaded up a real account. Now, this is dangerous, and I want y'all to know this. This is dangerous. Me, somebody who got, you know what I'm saying, that high or felt that rush of making that much money on a demo account. But the thing about me that a lot of people really didn't have when they first started Forex, I had a lot of money already, so I could go and throw a whole bunch of money into like a real account and trade on it. So what did my stupid self do? I'm like, okay, I got an extra $15,000 just sitting inside whatever account I had it. I ain't mean to slap my thing like that, but I had an extra $15,000 or something. Actually, I don't know what, I just put $15,000 into an account. $15,000 I put into a real life trading account. And I remember it was one morning, right? And you know, gold moves crazy at 9:30 Eastern Standard Time in the morning. I was getting in the trade again. I didn't really— I understood lot sizes a little bit more, but I still wasn't like 100% certain on it. Keep in mind, I had a full— a few demo trades, um, in between me loading up this thing. So I probably traded like 2 or 3 more times on the demo before loading up the $15K into a real account. Um, and I was winning them, you know what I'm saying? I was winning them on the demo account. Then I load up the $15K account, lost $7,000 off rip. $7,000 down the drain. And I'm like, bro, the market, it was weird this time. Now I'm gonna just go back. This is the same day, $15K, same day I lost $7K in the morning time. But then I see another setup, or setup that I think— I don't even know what type of strategy I was using or what was going on in my head, but I saw another setup, whatever the heck setup I saw. So I'm like, okay, this is perfect, I'm about to make all my money back. So what did I do? The stupid thing that a lot of people do, they revenge trade, but they don't use the same lot size. Let's say I use 10 lots and I lost that $7,000. Now I'm trying to make my money back plus more. So I doubled my lot size, you know what I'm saying? I don't know what the number was, but I doubled it. 20 lot size. And that was the fastest I ever saw $7,000 leave my account. Like literally watched it. I don't know if it was a buy or sell, but I literally watched it. And you know, brokers, they don't let you go all the way down to zero. So it would take me out with like $500 inside my account. So I really went from $15,000 in the morning to losing $7,000, to then losing $7,000 within, I wanna say like 45 seconds. I promise you, I don't know what was going on, but 45 seconds, I lost the $7,000. So after losing that $15,000, I was like, there's no way that I'm goated on the demo account, and then when I open it live, I can't win a single trade. Now keep in mind, I only took 2 trades on the real account with the $15K account. Only took 2 trades on it. So I'm like, okay, I'm gonna test this out again. Keep in mind, I was sad, probably for like a week or something. I ain't trade no more. I was just watching more videos, just trying to learn and all that. And then I, like, I really thought I was doing good and I probably was doing good. I rewatched the whole course that I had bought. I think I had bought another course too and I watched through it all within that week. And I was like, okay, now let me try this again, right? You know what I'm saying? I'm like, okay, I got a good strategy. I know about lot sizes now, I know about all of that. I load up $5K into an account, right? So now I lost the $15,000, but now I have $5K in the account. Now I'm feeling more hesitant, but I'm also like, okay, there's no way I keep losing, 'cause I'm, you know what I'm saying, I'm the GOAT. I opened up a demo account, I made $30,000 in 30 seconds. I am the GOAT at trading, you know what I'm saying? So I load up the account with $5K. This time I didn't lose the $5K so fast. This time I actually profited on the $5K. I think I made the $5K into $6,500. The first day, the second day I lost $1,000, and then the third day I actually had like went up drastically. Like the $5,000 turned to $8,700 or something like that. I remember it was close to $9,000. So I'm like, okay, this is great. I should take some money out and then just trade with the additional profits that I made on top of it. Keep in mind, I was still trading gold at this point. I don't trade gold right now 'cause gold, I think I have a bad taste in my mouth from gold. I feel like gold has never treated me good, so I've decided to never talk to her again, you know what I'm saying? But I was trading gold like every single day, um, well, every single time I was trading at this point early inside my trading career. So instead of taking money out and trading with the market money, I was like, okay, I'm gonna just try and get it to $10K. I'm gonna just try and get my account to $10K. That way I could take out $5K and trade with the original $5K that I had in there. That was my first mistake, you know what I'm saying? This time it was another downfall. It wasn't that I had too high of a lot size, it wasn't that, none of that. It was I was in a trade and I wanted to be right so bad. Let's say I got into a buy on, um, on gold and my stop loss was like right here, right? I got into the buy right here, my stop loss was right here. The price is coming back down close to my stop loss, but I'm just— no, I just know I know, 'cause I'm the best day trader in the world. I know that price is going up. So I keep moving my stop loss, moving my stop loss. I'm down 2, 3K, moving my stop loss, waiting for it to reverse or waiting for me to only be down 2K instead of 7K or however much I was down. So I keep moving my stop loss, moving my stop loss, moving my stop loss until I just say, okay, I'm gonna just take my stop loss off. I'm gonna be perfectly fine. I'm gonna be okay. You know what I'm saying? 'Cause it's gonna go back in my direction. I already know. I know it. Like, I know it's going to. There's no way that it doesn't. This is what I'm thinking in my head. There's no way that price doesn't go up. Everything says price is going up, you know what I'm saying? So we can all guess how that, how that turned out. Blew the whole account, had $300 left inside the, the account at that point. So at this point I had blown an additional $5,000 on top of that $15,000. So we're down $20K right now. We're down $20K of actual real money that I put into the market. All right, so fast forward a couple weeks. I think I had bought Q Bank's course right after I lost this $5,000 because I was like, maybe, maybe Swaggy C's course is not for me, you know what I'm saying? Maybe he can't teach right. Maybe he can't teach me, you know what I'm saying? Maybe he's wrong. He don't know how to trade for real. I'm thinking all these things in my head. Of course, that's not the case. I still watch Swaggy C to this day. I love his content. I love his— he has the little TV show thingy, uh, Secure the Swag, I think that's what it's called. So I still watch all that, no, no hate or nothing like that. It's just I bought Q Bank's course after, so I'm like, okay, I need a new teacher, I need some— I need a different perspective or something like that. So I watched Q Bank's course. I promised not to trade until I went through the whole entire course. So I went through the whole course, took me around 2 weeks. So after I lost that $5K, I went, got Q Bank's course, watched through it, and didn't trade until I finished the course. Now In his course, it was some section that was kind of talking about cryptocurrency. Now keep in mind, I've been in crypto since 2016, so I'm like, okay, wait, cryptocurrency is like— I know crypto like the back of my freaking head. Yes, well, the back of my hand, not the back of my head. So I'm like, I could trade that, that's easy. I don't just got to trade gold, I could try crypto. So all I would trade with was Ethereum. I was thinking, okay, let me try leverage trading Ethereum. It's the same, you use the same broker, MT4, MetaTrader 4. You just get a broker, and some brokers allow you to trade cryptocurrencies on them. So I'm like, okay, let me just start trading Ethereum. And this was my game plan for Ethereum. I was just going to use the leverage account more so as like a long-term hold instead of day trading it. So I loaded up $10K into an account, right? $10K into an account, and I opened up— I knew, I just knew the market was going up no matter what. So I opened up a trade for Ethereum. I didn't do no technical analysis, no nothing. I opened up the trade for Ethereum with $10,000 in it with, uh, it was like, it wasn't that big of a lot size, but it was a decent size lot size where if price had— if Ethereum price had went up like $300, I was gonna make like $30K. So I was like, okay, bet, let me just put this in there, you know what I'm saying? I'm not gonna look at it, I'm not day trading this, I'm just using it as a long-term leverage kind of trading account type thingy, you know what I'm saying? So I didn't put a stop loss thing because I'm like, Ethereum only goes up, the price of Ethereum never goes down. This is what I'm thinking in my head. So I opened up the account, I opened up the trade, $10K is inside the account. I knew if the price went up a certain amount, I'd make this much of money. I really probably didn't do the math for if the price went down because that's exactly what did happen. I don't think I ever saw green or ever saw blue because, you know, the color turns blue on the MetaTrader 4 when you're in positive or in profits. I don't think I ever saw profit on that account personally. I think it really just kept going down and kept going down. I think I stopped it when it was— I had around $2,000 left inside the account, and I was just like, okay, this is not gonna work. I'm not gonna try and long-term hold crypto on this. Let me just try trading Ethereum, like day trading Ethereum, and using like the strategies that I saw inside the course and all that. So I had $2,000 inside the account, right? Trading Ethereum only. I'm not trading gold no more because gold has scarred me for life. Gold has taken already $20,000 of mine. So I start trying to day trade Ethereum with the $2K left that's inside that $10,000 account that I put in there. It was going decent, you know what I'm saying? I was using low lot sizes. Keep in mind, I was using like super, super small lot sizes. But then— and I was doing good. I don't know why I stopped, but I was doing good. But then it was just one— I feel we all have these times in our head where it's like, okay, we just want that adrenaline rush, we just want to trade, and we want to see big numbers. So I'd up the lot sizes this one time after trading good. I had good risk management. I was not losing a bunch of money. It was small, super small lot sizes that I can handle. But then I decided to up the lot size like crazy just because I wanted to get— I don't know what it was. I just, I just wanted higher numbers. I don't freaking know what the heck it was. And then I actually had ended up getting stopped out on a trade before the trade went inside my direction. So I got in, like, let's say I went in for a buy. My stop loss is right here. This is my entry point., and my, my, um, take profit was all the way up there. So price came down, hit my stop loss, and then went all the way up to my take profit where I would have made so much freaking money. And I was mad about it, so I started hating stop losses. I thought that stop losses were the enemy. I was like, okay, no more stop losses, we're gonna try this again. I know y'all keep saying this right now. I put $15K into account, lost that. $5K into account, lost that. And I just put $10K in account and lost that. Right now I'm down, what, $30K right now? I'm down $30K right now. But it's one last time, I promise you this is gonna work. I loaded up $10K into an account and now I'm never using stop losses. I'm like, okay, stop losses is bad. If I see the trade isn't going in my direction, I'm just going to close the trade out manually. And that is the lie that we tell ourselves. I'm sure you've said it to yourself before. You think if price gets a certain place, you go close it out manually when you're not— use a stop loss. I highly suggest everybody use a stop loss. But we at the— we, we, we, we trading with no stop loss now, you know what I'm saying? $10K account day trading is not going bad at all. There are huge times of like huge drawdown, but I don't have a stop loss and I just know personally that the price is going to go up. And keep in mind, this, this worked. I was doing great. I was not using the stop loss. I was sending screenshots. I have a group chat with my brother and my cousin. We all day trading, all that. So I'll send screenshots inside that group chat talking about no stop loss life. Living life on the edge, living like Larry, baby. And I'm seeing $2,000, $3,000, $4,000, you know what I'm saying? So I'm just using no stop loss and I'm waiting for price to go up. So this was working out great until one night I left a trade open going to sleep. I don't do this no more. I like— every single time I've left the trade overnight, it has lost. I've never won a trade that was left overnight. Like, I've never woke up the next morning and was happy to look at my phone, you know what I'm saying? I always would open my phone up in the morning and get sad that I got stopped out and lost all my money. And this was the beginning of it, you know what I'm saying? I left the trade going through the night, 'cause I'm like, okay, right now it's floating in profit. There's no way that it reverses and I lose all my money. What did it do? Exactly that. And it didn't even lose like, it didn't even lose like $5,000, $3,000, $4,000. It lost the entire freaking account overnight. I don't know what lot size it was. I just know I woke up and my account was gone. Like I had $300 in the account, 'cause you know it stops you out before you get to zero. I think I had like $300 inside the account overnight because I did not use a stop loss. My stupid self blew another $10K account. So in total, I have blown— and I probably had smaller accounts that I've blown too that I can't remember. I just remember all these instances, you know what I'm saying? The $15K, the $5K, the $10K, and the $10K, you know what I'm saying? So with all said and done, I have blown $40,000 worth of accounts. Trading Forex in the beginning. Now I don't blow accounts. I haven't blown an account in a very, very long time, you know what I'm saying? So hopefully this, this transparency helps you guys. I don't know what this is going to help you do. Hopefully it doesn't— hopefully it makes you not make the stupid mistakes that I did, because my problem was I was new, I had got my head gassed up, and I had a lot of money to throw into these things. I had a lot of money that I already had so I could go put into forex and trade it. If, if I didn't have money, it would have been a lot better, you know what I'm saying? If I did not have money, I wouldn't have been able to throw $15,000, $10,000, $5,000, you know what I'm saying? But I did, and that was my downfall. That cost me $40,000. But that is the end of the video. Let me know what you guys think in the comments down below. I'm curious. Let me know in the comments down below how much that did— how many accounts have y'all blown? How much money have y'all blown on accounts before becoming profitable? Or if you're not profitable yet, How much are you at yet? Or how much are you at now? How much have you blown? Because honestly, you're— if you're new to Forex, you're gonna blow accounts. Like, that's— it's just something that you can't skip over. You're gonna blow accounts. And just try and make the accounts as small as possible, not $40,000 worth of accounts like I had. But hope y'all enjoyed my little story time on how I blew $40,000 worth of accounts trading Forex in the beginning. Keep in mind, this is all within, I want to say, 5-month span. Like a 5-6 month span max, you know what I'm saying. L's in the chat. But that's end of video right now. I'm profitable now though, you don't got to worry about me. I'm profitable, I'm doing my thing, I'm making my money. Speaking of profitable, if you want to be profitable, make some money, and also learn how to trade yourself, signals chat link inside descriptions, also inside the comments down below. Check it out, you know what I'm saying. We in there catching pips, but you already know this, you know what I'm saying. But that's really about it. Look at all your trades, look at your crypto. Good luck on your forex. Good luck on your accounts that you do not want to blow. Good luck on your risk management that you need to have and your stop losses, you know what I'm saying? Good luck on life as a whole, man. I'm gonna see you on the next video.
