Joshua Riggs shows how to add a countdown timer to a ProPresenter slide using the Messages layer. Select the countdown token, pick a visual theme like Lower Third Countdown, set the timer length, and make sure the Message layer is enabled in your output settings so it displays over other content.
Hey, today I'm going to show you how you can use the message layer to display a countdown on your screen. All right, here's how it works. So I want to put a countdown on this slide in the bottom right-hand corner using the message layer. So I'm going to first click on the little paper airplane, that's messages. And if you don't have any messages, click add a message. If you already have some, then you can click that little plus button and you can add a second one. So now we're going to come over here and where it says token, click that little dropdown. And then go to timers. And I'm going to choose my countdown timer, service countdown. Now, obviously you have to have a countdown timer already set up. So now I can actually put text in front of that if I want. So I'm going to say service begins in. Now I have the service begins in service countdown. Now we need to select our theme and the theme will determine what this message looks like. So I'm going to click the dropdown and I'm going to come over here and I'm going to find our theme. Here it is, it's called Lower Third Countdown. I'll choose that theme group and then I'll choose this theme slide. Notice it says dismiss manually. I can dismiss after the timer expires. I recommend that. And so, and you can change how, how long the time is going to be. And now you just click show. I click show and now the timer starts and it says service begins in based off of that theme. If you're not seeing this, here, you need to go up to Screens and Edit Looks and make sure that the message layer is turned on in the output that you want it to go to. So make sure that box is checked, and then your message layer will show up on top of your slide layer, on top of your media layer, on top of your props layer, on top of the announcements layer as a countdown.
