Stop Eating THIS to Reverse Chronic Disease

Kamilah Stevenson explains why eating high-fat and high-carb foods together, especially trans fats with refined carbs, overwhelms your metabolism. When your body burns fat first, carbs spike your blood sugar and cause insulin resistance and inflammation. Separate them: pair fats like avocado with vegetables, not bread or pastries.

There's one massive mistake that so many people with chronic diseases are making when it comes to their diet, and they don't even realize it. And it's this: combining high fat with high carbs in the same meal or just throughout the day. If you've been struggling to manage your energy, your blood sugar, or your weight, this might be the issue. Today I'm going to break down why combining fat and carbs can be a disaster for your metabolism, especially if you've got mitochondrial dysfunction. And I'm going to show you what you should do instead to optimize your health. I'm going to help you fix this. So let's get it. But before we get started, If you've been getting any value from these videos and you want to keep learning how to take control of your health, please go ahead and subscribe right now. You do not want to miss what's coming, I guarantee you. All right, let's talk about what happens in your body when you combine high fat and high carbs in your meal. First, your body has a priority system. It has to decide which fuel source it's going to burn. When both fats and carbs are available, the body will usually focus on burning the fats first. That's because fat is a slower burning fuel. The problem is, when your body is busy processing the fat, the carbs you ate are just sitting there, spiking your blood sugar levels. And this is especially problematic when those carbs are coming from refined sources like white bread, pastries, or sugary drinks. The fat makes it harder for your body to clear out the sugar, which means your blood sugar stays elevated longer than it should. Now, other than the fact that fat burning is a backup system, This is a huge issue for anyone dealing with mitochondrial dysfunction. The mitochondria are responsible for converting food into energy, and when they're not working properly, your body struggles to efficiently handle both fat and carbs at the same time. Instead of smoothly transitioning between fuel sources, the body gets stuck, leading to metabolic issues like insulin resistance and weight gain. What makes this combination even worse is the type of fat and carbs most people are consuming together. It's not just any fat or any carb. It's trans fats and refined carbs found in processed foods like donuts, fries, pizza, baked goods, and fast food. These foods are designed to be hyperpalatable, meaning they're engineered to taste so good that they're hard to resist. They basically make you become addicted. But they're also designed in a way that overwhelms your system. The combination of trans fats and refined sugar spikes blood sugar, promotes inflammation, and wreaks havoc on your body's ability to regulate its itself. Now, to be clear, neither fat nor carbs are bad on their own. In fact, your body needs both, just not at the same time and not in the way most people are eating them. If you've got healthy mitochondria and you're active, your body can handle this combination a little better. But for the majority of people, especially those who are sedentary or dealing with chronic illnesses, this is a disaster waiting to happen. The issue isn't just the sugar or the fat on its own. It's the way your body struggles to process both together. This leads to metabolic dysfunction. So what should you do instead? One solution is to separate your fat and carb intake. Focus on lean proteins and whole foods that support your metabolism. Instead of pairing fats and refined carbs in the same meal, replace those carbs with healthier options like protein-rich foods or vegetables. For example, if you're eating avocado or eggs, combine them with leafy greens or lean meats instead of pairing them with bread or sugary snacks. This simple switch can make a massive difference in your body's ability to regulate blood sugar and processed energy effectively. You know what? Let's just take a step back and look at nature. In the natural world, fats and carbs are rarely found together in high amounts. Ancient humans didn't eat a high-fat, high-carb diet. They'd either hunt for fat-rich foods or gather carbs like fruit, honey, or grains. But they wouldn't be consuming these in the way we do now. The modern diet, especially with processed foods, is an unnatural combination of the worst kinds of fats and carbs, refined sugars, and trans fats. And that's one of the main reasons we're seeing such high levels of chronic illness today. It's so critical to recognize that managing this fat-carb combo is key to improving your health, especially if you are already dealing with metabolic issues. When you separate your fats and carbs and focus on eating whole, nutrient-dense foods, your body can handle energy conversion more efficiently. You'll start to notice improved energy levels, fewer blood sugar spikes that linger too long, and better overall metabolic health. It's all about supporting your body's natural processes instead of overwhelming them. And that's what we do, we overwhelm our bodies with processed foods. So now I'd like to know from you, what's one fat-carb combination you're gonna stop eating this week? And just to let you know, an example would be donuts.
