The Secret Pattern of the 1%: Why Success Is More Predictable Than You Think

Dr. Kamilah Stevenson argues the top 1% succeed through disciplined repetition of fundamentals, not tricks. Repeated practice rewires neural pathways into automatic habits that free you from willpower. She offers a 30-day plan: pick one high-impact area, practice daily, track it, and let it compound.

What's up, good people? Here for a quick training.
Let me start, uh, all right, let me give you a moment to come on in.
We are here live going through a quick training, a little bit of revelation. We're still in the first quarter of the year and we want to kick it off well, so I'm going to talk about something that is much needed, and you're going to find a lot of breakthrough. I'm not trying to be before you too long, but, uh, want to talk about the success pattern, um, or the secret pattern of the 1%— why success is more predictable than you think. Um, I'm going to talk about that 1% of what successful people do. Uh, it's all the same, y'all. All right, come on in, come on in. Let me check the comments, right? Good evening, good evening. I see you on here trying to get Instagram going.
All right, I think Hold on, let me get this Instagram. I think I'm on Instagram, not sure.
I might have just accidentally exited out, so give me a minute.
I'm gonna join back in for Instagram's sake.
How y'all doing today?
Or maybe I am live on Instagram. Oh, oh no, I don't know if I am. Let's see. All right, give me one second and I'm gonna get started. Trying to get my Instagram followers on, on board, and I can't see myself online. So I'm gonna stop, I'm gonna stop with Instagram and then I will, uh, add them back on. And that's what I'm doing now, so give me one quick second, trying to not leave my peoples out.
All right, we're gonna talk about some good stuff real quick though. I'm excited, um, to share this message that I have Uh, and I was inspired, um, by a comment that I saw earlier today that made me kind of want to talk about this because I think people are really missing the point of success and what it takes, um, to have the success that you really desire. And I just, I just knew that after seeing this comment, I said, we got it, you know, so backwards. We got to figure out exactly what we need to do, um, to have sustainable success. Not, not a, a one-hit wonder, but we got to make sure that we doing what we need to do to sustain. All right, I'm going live on Instagram also, so I'll give a minute just for them to come in. I stopped it and I'm starting it back now. All right, so I hope you guys are doing well. I'm gonna, I'm gonna get started real quick. Um, again, I want to talk about the success patterns, uh, that the 1% do. That most people overlook. And it's not— they're not smarter, they're not, um, you know, the top performers, top achievers, top successful people, um, they don't have anything special going but this one thing. And I think if people would take a moment and really develop that part of them, uh, they will start to see a difference in their life, right? So, um, what happened was I was watching a video on YouTube and someone left— I looked at the comments and somebody left a comment saying, uh, to the guy who was doing the, I guess, the, the video, and said, you know, man, you keep talking about the same thing over and over, give us something new. And what he was talking about was something that was necessary to keep talking about. I'll just say that. So it, it did make sense. I understand it. You know, people want new content and stuff like that. But I thought to myself when I was looking at the comment, I said, man, this— I don't think a person like this is ever going to experience real success. And you want to know why? Um, the reason why is because the truth is, uh, the people who truly make it, the elite athletes, the most successful entrepreneurs, the top 1%, they do not chase new tricks. They master the fundamentals. And what, what he was talking in a video about was a topic that was very fundamental, and it's really a topic that you should study every month. You know, you should be revisiting all the time. You know, like, it's certain books that you should always read. Um, there's certain books I read every single year. Like, you, you need to continue to lay that foundation and And, um, so I kind of wanted to— that's what really got me moving in this direction of wanting to share this, because I, I want, I want you to have a slight reality check to understand that most people do not actually want mastery. What they want is entertainment. They want something new and exciting, but they don't realize that newness does not create transformation. And this is why a lot of people aren't experiencing transformation. You want to know what does? Repetition. Repetition is what creates transformation. Repetition is what creates mastery. And that's what I want to go into now. If you stick with me to the end, I actually got a treat for you. I got a free gift for you guys, um, that I pulled together before I came on live. I wanted to leave you with something that could really help you. So at the end, uh, I'll give you, uh, the call to action to, to go in and get your free gift. So that's just a treat for you. All right, so, um, here's pretty much what this cycle does, and I'll, I'll make this quick for you guys. But the cycle that keeps people stuck is this: they hear something valuable, then they get excited, um, and then they try it once or twice, and then it doesn't feel natural or comfortable, so they move on to something else. They, you know, we're used to being comfortable, and they repeat this cycle over and over again forever, never mastering anything. And so, you know, I get it. Repetition sometimes feels really boring at first because our brains crave novelty. You know, most people give up before their brains really adapt and they think, okay, this isn't working because it's not working quick enough. But in reality, they just haven't done it enough times, you know. And if you keep moving from one thing to the next, you're never going to go deep enough to create real change. And there's a science to this. If you really want to master a level of, of growth and, and, and breaking out of limitations and getting to that place where, where, where the elite live, um, you have to understand the science of repetition and how your brain wires itself through repetition. So what, what's happening with the brain is your brain is constantly tracking patterns and it's storing data. That's what many— you know, when I'm telling somebody, you know, you gotta do this consistently. Stop, stop going all out. We know you're gonna get tired and then all of a sudden you're gonna want to quit in about a week. Stop going all out. Stop going at all of these different— stop hopping from different things. Learn the fundamentals and keep it simple. We, we just missed the simplicity of life. I tell people, you're missing— I tell religious people, you're missing the simplicity of Jesus, of, of the gospel, the simplicity of God. Um, and it reminds me of the scripture where, where Jesus was walking with them and they couldn't even recognize that he's walking with them because they looking for something deep, you know. Um, but when you repeat something, what happens is your brain sees it as important and strengthens those neural pathways. And that's what you want, because eventually the, uh, the behavior that you start to have, uh, the new behavior patterns they become automatic. Meaning, this is a good thing actually, because it means that you don't have to rely on motivation or willpower to do it. See, if, if you're relying on motivation and willpower, you're gonna get tired. You're not going to be— I would hate to have to rely on willpower to get up and do what I need to do every day, to go to the gym and to work. I would hate to— I don't rely on willpower, y'all. I don't think about it. When you do it long enough, it becomes automatic. And you have to get to the point where you're not thinking about it, because that's when it, it becomes natural. And, and that's when you don't stop, because it's a part of your identity, it's a part of who you are. And so you, you have to get your brain to adapt to new habits. And you gotta— if you want to enter into success, it has to be automatic. Success has to be automatic. It cannot be something that you are grinding and battling and, and striving for. That does not work. People get tired and, and overwhelmed with trying to work out something. Um, and so the brain has to wire itself for levels of success. For example, like, you know, uh, we're doing martial arts because I do martial arts. And, you know, I started off and I, I want to do all the fancy kicks and stuff. I want to spin around. I'm like, show me the, the new jump kick and all, you know. I'm trying to figure out how to be fancy with it and stuff. And it was like, and this ain't working, you know. Um, what made a real difference with my kick game— I call it my kick game— is that I just simply started kicking every day. And you know, like the saying goes, you, you don't have anything to be afraid of when you got somebody who has kicked 1,000 times in one day. Be afraid of the person who has kicked one time for 1,000 days. You know, when you just start simply just doing it repetitively. I just started kicking, and at first I couldn't, um, get my leg often high enough to kick in the face. Now it's a natural thing. And so now kicking in the, in the side or the, you know, the liver, gut punches and stuff, and gut kicks and stuff, is really, really easy. Um, and it wasn't like I didn't kick once a week or I didn't do it when I felt like it, but just every single day. And over time, my body started to even adapt more naturally. At first I'm like, I'm not flexible enough for my leg to kick somebody way in the face who's 6 feet tall and stuff. And I'm like, I need stretch and do all of this stuff that I didn't need to do. All I needed to do was just kick every day, and without stretching, without doing anything, my flexibility improved, um, and my brain started to store that movement. So my brain has a— it's stored now, and it's natural, and, and it became effortless. And to, to kick and to do even kick combinations and stuff like that. And that's how mastery works, is that consistency really does lead to mastery. And that's why boxers will forever practice jab punch, um, jabs and, and crosses. And, and, you know, like, they're, they're already— they're always gonna practice the one-two. They'll never stop practicing the one-two. All right, um, so I'm gonna move on. I'm just looking at the comments real quick, seeing if anybody got any. All right, all right, cool. Stay, stick with me. I got a treat for you guys at the end. All right, so the power of automatic responses. When something is, is ingrained, uh, through repetition, again, you don't have to think about it. It's something that you just do. And this is why world-class athletes, they practice, they, they practice the same fundamentals every single day for decades. And this is why you'll never, you know, somebody like Stephon Curry or, or the one of the greatest basketball players, you're not going to ever see them stop practicing free throws or shots. You're not gonna hear them say, I need to move on to something different, I'm tired of practicing free throws and shots. You'll never see that happen. And, uh, this is why people fail to rewire their minds, because they, they think that they need something new instead of repeating what works. Like, they don't understand that transformation really do happen through deep daily immersion and not random bursts of motivation. Everybody want to try something new and get on the, the new bagging— I'm a bandwagon. I'm not saying that new stuff is not exciting, it is. But you know what I come to find out? That like, ain't nothing new under the sun. Ain't no season new, ain't no problem or no obstacle new, ain't no challenge new, ain't no devil new. It's all the same. I, I loved, um, I do— amazing teacher got up one day and ministered and said, you know I wanted to say that God has something, you know, new to say. But, you know, God said, I don't have nothing new to say. I'm saying the same thing. People not listening to what I've been saying. And so it's nothing new under the sun. It's the same stuff. If you haven't been obedient from your last season, ain't nothing new for you. Learn how to walk out what you're supposed to walk out in that season. Um, you know, if you had to make a Think about if you had to make a conscious decision every day about how you gonna walk, how you gonna brush your teeth, or drive. You ain't gonna get nothing done if you got to occupy your mind with all of the stuff that shouldn't be occupying it, you know, with things that you should already be doing. Your brain is literally designed to automate things that are repeated. And, and I'm telling you, this is a hack. And that's why repetition really is the secret to mastery. It is the secret to mastery. You don't need nothing new. You just need to keep doing what works. And so, um, see, here's what I want to say: stop being a trick collector, right? Though here's the 1% success model. The top 1%, they do not do more, they go deeper on a few things. If y'all hear my message, it's all the same. Get healthy, grow. I could teach the same message for the rest of my life. Grow up. And I get a lot of people who say, man, you, you know a lot of things, you know, you have a lot of wisdom and a lot, a lot of different areas. It's not because I've jumped from subject to subject, it's really not. It's because I stay committed to one thing, and that's growth and personal development. And just like a tree grows and it just blossoms and have a lot of leaves, it's not like— it's just growing, and naturally it's going to produce leaves because it's growing. And so you're gonna— people start seeing the fruit of that because there is committed to growing. Now there's a support system there. Yeah, you know, with the water and, you know, the different seasons and stuff that it go through and the pruning or whatever you need to do for the tree to grow. But it's just, it's just committed to growing. And when it's committed to growing, the branches come out, the leaves start to— it's nothing that it's trying to do. It's not trying to, it's not trying to put leaves on it. It's just growing. And I, I commit to the same thing. I pretty much got the same message. Get your health in order, get your mind in order and your body in order, and it's going to help your life. It's going to help your finances and your relationship. It's the same message Jesus had same message. Um, nothing new. He committed to, you know, the kingdom of God is at hand, it's near. Uh, John the Baptist is, you know, preaching, uh, repent, the kingdom of heaven is near. Uh, Paul is talking about the, the gospel of grace. It's all the same message. I'm telling you, they stick to a very few things. And, and we— what, what most people have is this, this trick collector problem. You know, most people are really addicted to even self-development. They're always chasing the next big thing, but they never apply what they already know. They do not go deep enough on anything to actually make change, and that's a huge mistake. And that is not what the 1% of people do. Think about basketball players. Um, they, they again, they never stop practicing layup. You— nobody's gonna walk up to a pro basketball player and say, hey, aren't you, uh, tired of, of shooting free throws? Aren't you tired of, uh, doing the layups the way you— you know, why don't you try something new? No, because that's how they maintain mastery. They don't, they don't move on from fundamentals. They perfect them. They repeat the same drills for years, and over time those drills, they compound into mastery. And the same thing applies for rewiring your habits and success patterns. Um, any successful player has, has gone through this. They, they're not gonna, oh, I learned how to pass now, so now I'm gonna learn how to pass the ball underneath, in between my legs every time. I, I need a new way to pass. No, no, no, no, no. They're gonna be stable, solid, and they're gonna stick to the fundamentals over and over and over again. Like the movie, remember Karate Kid? And Mr. Miyagi had that man wax on, wax off. He like, we gonna just keep waxing on, waxing off, huh? Yes, wax on, wax off. Don't do nothing else because you don't even know the fundamentals. You trying to go to do other stuff and you don't really know the basics yet. And I'm going to tell you how this applies to you, because if you feel stuck, it's not because you don't have enough information. You have more than enough information. It's really because you just haven't committed to doing the same thing repeatedly until it becomes second nature, um, second nature. And so that's really the problem. And when you stop chasing the new and start mastering the proven, everything is going to start changing, right? And one of the things that, um I'll say this, one of the things that repetition also does is it helps to transform your identity. All right, it, it, your identity changes. And the reason why is because you're nervous. There's a nervous system connection to the actions that you make. Every action you take signals your nervous system to adapt to it. So the more you repeat a behavior, the more your nervous system normalizes it. Now that could be good or bad, because if you got a lot of bad habits, your nervous system is going to normalize itself to these bad habits. But on the flip side, if they're great habits, your nervous system is going to normalize into it. And this is how you actually break free from old programming and install new automatic success patterns. Now, as I always say, again, personal growth is really key for, for all of this. You have to commit to growing. And that's why I'm here often giving trainings. A lot of people ask for more live trainings. Is because I want you to grow, and I want to be able to give back and add value in any way that I can from the things that I've done over the years. Um, what I learned about personal, uh, growth— a lot of you all hear me talk about the stock market a lot. I, I, I liken personal growth to the stock market, to a good stock, a healthy stock, in that growth is not a straight line. It's never a straight line. It is like the stock market. There's these ups and then there's these downs. But over time, with a, a solid stock, the trend is usually up. And as you grow, you have these, what you call in the stock market, support levels. Um, and what those support levels do is they kind of support you for, for, for not falling back, um, past below where you started. And that's why repetition is key, is because what it does is it ensures that even if you do have setbacks, which you will, you're still ahead of where you used to be. You won't fall back below those support levels, right? And, and so I want you to be free. And I really, really believe mastery is the only way to freedom. And, and repetition, as much as people may think is boring, it's not. It's the path to freedom. And when you master something, again, remember, it no longer requires your willpower. You know how powerful that is? To have automatic success habits are automatically innately in you when you wake up in the morning. Like, when you commit to repetition, you stop trying and you just start becoming. No more trying, no more wrestling for, for things. And that is the beauty of it. And so I wanted to share that because it's so important, and, and it's, and it's missing from a lot of people's lives. And it's like, this is why, this is why you can't get anywhere. This is why there's so much arrested development or so many roadblocks because you want something new. And so again, I looked at that comment, I was like, this is, this is how most people feel. Can you give us something new? No, I don't have anything new. It's the same thing. Go back and learn it. Go back and learn it because you're still on ground level. And so here's just quickly what you need to do next. Number 1, choose one area of your life, you know, to master. Um, just pick something that you know will create like a big impact if you master it and stop searching for new tricks and start committing to repetition and then build a daily habit around it, even if it's just 10 minutes a day. Consistency, consistency, consistency. No more just, oh, I'm gonna build intensity, I'm, I'm all right, it's, it's today, today, tomorrow's gonna be, uh, you know, not the day. Now you gotta start with very small incremental steps. See the vision, see the long run, but start with something that really gives you the momentum that you need and the confidence that you need, right? And then also tracking your progress, because your brain does— your brain needs feedback. You know, you need to keep a log or review your growth or journal, celebrate small wins. All of those things really do matter. And then just really staying committed to the process is, is very important. Remember, it's not about mastery, isn't about speed, it's about depth. All right, so remember this: the 1% don't succeed because they know more. They succeed because they do more of what already works. And the secret to success isn't more knowledge, it's mastering the right actions through repetition, right? So I challenge you to stop chasing and start mastering. So, uh, if, if I can even go deeper with what one thing you should do, like one thing I'm, I'm gonna ask you, one thing that you may need to repeat more in your life right now. Just think of one thing you know that you need to master, whether it's controlling your emotions, handling, um, stress better, staying focused on your goals. Some people are so divided and distracted. Um, just commit to it and repeat the daily action for 30 days. Just 30. Give yourself 30 days and see how, how amazing life can be for you. 30 days. And if you real bold, you can drop it in the chat if you feel like, okay, I'm gonna commit to, uh, um, waking up early, I'm gonna commit to mastering my emotions, I'm gonna commit to walking, um, 7,000 steps every day. Whatever that thing that you're going to commit to it, do it just for 30 days and just see how you feel. It's— and when you just choose one, see, people don't have to— you don't have to choose a million things. If you just choose one, what you're going to find out is such a— there's such a domino effect of choosing one thing, and it spills over into other areas of your life. It is, it is so amazing, right? And so, um, I want you to do that. I want you to do that. All right, let me look and see. Um, I was trying to look and see if, if anybody dropped it down, anything. One, somebody said praying in the Holy Ghost.
Yes.
All right, all right. Uh, committing to it, repeated 30 days and say yep. See how you feel sticking to one goal, one goal, just one. Um, that one goal will, will trickle over into other areas. Sometimes if you, if you decide I'm gonna eat healthy Trust me, eating healthy gonna give you more energy. You're gonna feel better. Your brain is going to be more focused. You might be more productive. I'm telling you, one thing will spill over into other things. What get us so overwhelmed is we just got too much going on, y'all. And that's not how the 1% do it. And so I want to hit you up on game because the 1% understand that you do the same thing over and over and over, and you master it, and you master it, and then you start teaching others how to do it, and you show them how to do it, and, and you, you teach and train. And anybody who know when you coach it and you, and you help others to implement it, it makes you even become more better at it. I mean, it's, it's— that's what it is. That's exactly what it is. All right, so I wanted to, um, get you, uh, that type of understanding, right? So you don't miss it, right? You don't miss the simplicity. Now, um, I do have a, a gift for you. I do have a training, um, and it's a free master class that I have for you, uh, because most people unknowingly block their success. So I have a master class and a training that helps you to really discover 3 powerful principles, um, that high achievers and top performers use to rewire their mind, overcome limitations, and really just create lasting, enduring change.
