The speaker denies being paid by Ripple but says the team values their XRP community work and collaborates with them. They worry people will dismiss their XRP messages if they think there's a financial tie, so they keep formal distance while still promoting the project.
People already think I'm in cahoots with Ripple. They already think I get paid to give information on XRP, which is ridiculous. I don't get paid. I'm in connection with Ripple's team, yes, because they value what I do bring to the community. You know, like, part of me didn't want to get into their Ripple because then people are really, oh, she, she bought into Ripple, and then they won't receive the message for XRP. I have no ties with them, and I kind of like it that way right now because I do promote them a lot and everything.
