XRP Holders, Your Stablecoins Are Funding America’s DEBT

In this video Kamilah Stevenson explains how stablecoins—digital dollars pegged to $1—are becoming a major new source of demand for short‑term U.S. Treasury bills (T‑bills). She defines stablecoins, describes that issuers back them with safe assets, primarily short‑term U.S. government debt, and cites a Bank for International Settlements (BIS) research paper and a Standard Chartered projection that stablecoin inflows could push down T‑bill yields and generate up to $1 trillion of new demand. Stevenson outlines a feedback loop: more stablecoin usage leads issuers to buy more T‑bills, lowering yields, which in turn ties the dollar’s plumbing tighter to stablecoins, especially during market stress when investors flee to digital dollars. She notes that the total stablecoin market exceeds $300 billion, with Tether alone holding about $141 billion in U.S. Treasuries—making it the 18th largest holder globally, though still under 1 % of total U.S. debt. The video then shifts to personal finance advice, recommending regulated custodial solutions (iTrustCapital Roth IRA with premium custody) over unregulated exchanges, and includes affiliate promotion and a paid “clarity” call service. Throughout, Stevenson emphasizes the importance of staying educated about macro‑economic dynamics and the evolving role of stablecoins in funding the U.S. government.

Hey, it's Kamilah Stevenson, and around here we talk wealth. Listen, I want to talk about the dollar. You have to understand something is happening. Something is shifting underneath the dollar. The digital dollars that a lot of you hold are turning into one of the biggest new lenders to the United States government, and I need to show you how this work because it matters for you to understand what is at play in this economy, in this environment. Now, before I break this down, because you will learn something, I want you to go ahead and like the video, subscribe if you have not already. This is not financial advice, okay? So I want you to do your own research. Everything that I share is only for educational and entertainment purposes. Now, let me know in the comments, do you hold any stablecoins? What are your thoughts on them? Do you hold them? Are you afraid to invest your money into it because of the clawback feature where it can be taken from you or frozen? Or do you feel safe investing in stablecoins? Do you get yield off of the stablecoins that you invest in? If you do, now let me go ahead and share something with you. And let me start from the beginning just so you can understand first what a stablecoin is. It is a digital dollar, a token designed to always be worth about $1. And the way it stays worth a dollar is that the company issuing it holds real assets in reserve to back every single coin. This is going to be important. And I'm going to answer the question, what do they hold in reserve? To back up this stablecoin? Well, they're going to hold mostly the safest, most boring thing that there is, which is short-term US government debt. Okay, which brings me to the second term, which is a T-bill, short for Treasury bill. A T-bill is just a short-term IOU from the United States government. The government needs to borrow money constantly so that it sells these IOUs. And when they sell it to you, you hand over your dollars now and the government pays you back a little more later. So whoever buys those IOUs is literally lending money to the US government. Now here's what just happened. The BIS, the central bank for central banks, published a research paper number 27, and it found something specific and important. When money flows into dollar stablecoins, it measurably pushes down the yield on those short-term Treasury bills. And separately, the Bank Standard Chartered projected that stablecoins could create as much as $1 trillion of brand new demand for those bills. So let me define yield real quick so you can understand, because it hinges on this entire thing. The yield is just the interest rate, the return that the T-bill pays you. And here's the rule that you need to hold on to. When a lot of buyers show up and demand goes up, the price of the bill goes up and the yield, the interest it pays, goes down. More buyers, lower yield. Okay, so hold that thought for a moment. So picture the US government holding an auction, for example, every single week selling those IOUs, and it needs buyers to show up. For decades, the buyers were foreign countries, big banks, money market funds, Now there's a brand new buyer in town at the table that basically did not exist years ago. That's stablecoins. So every time someone anywhere in the world buys a digital dollar, the company behind it turns around and uses that money to buy more of these government IOUs. So a person in another country buying a digital dollar just to protect their savings is, without knowing it, lending money to the United States government. Okay, and this is not tiny anymore. The total stablecoin market is now over $300 billion. One issuer, Tether, has gotten so big, uh, that it now holds around $141 billion in US Treasuries, which makes it roughly the 18th largest holder of US government debt on the planet, ahead of entire countries like Germany and South Korea. So just understand that. Now, in the grand scheme of things, I do want to say stablecoin issuers still hold under 1% of all US government debt. So I'm not telling you stablecoins are funding the whole government. They are not doing that. I'm not saying that. What I am saying to you is that this is the fastest growing new source of demand for that debt, and it's just getting started. Just understand a small slice today growing very fast, and the people who run a treasury are watching it very, very closely. And here's the new part from the BIS paper, the piece that I really want you to understand. It is a feedback loop. A feedback loop is just a cycle that feeds on itself. Where each step makes the next step stronger. So here's how this one runs. More people use stablecoins, so issuers buy more T-bills, which pushes those yields down and ties the plumbing of the dollar more and more tightly to stablecoins. And this is the part that matters the most. The paper found that this effect gets stronger during times of market stress. So think about what actually happens in a scary moment, a crash, a panic. People run to safety, they run to the dollar, and a lot of them run straight into stablecoins. Those issuers then have to buy even more T-bills right at the moment where everyone else in the world is already scrambling for them. So the loop does not calm down in a crisis, it actually speeds up. That is a brand new behavior in the financial system, and the people at the very top are just now mapping it all out. So why does any of this matter to you? Well, because it tells you that stablecoins are not a sideshow for crypto traders anymore. They are really becoming wired into the core of how the United States funds itself. Retail watches the price of coins. The people who run the system are watching this, the plumbing, because whoever buys the government debt holds enormous power over the entire system, and that power is shifting toward a brand new kind of buyer. Now let me bring this back full circle for you, and this is mainly about safety. If this whole story is about which dollars are backed by the safest assets and who is holding them, then the same question lands right at your doorstep. Where you hold your dollars and your assets determines how safe and how protected they actually are. If you're sitting loose on some random exchange, it's not the same as being held in a regulated institutional custody. That's one of the reasons why I keep a portion of my own XRP and digital assets in a Roth IRA through iTrust capital in a regulated custody, not floating around on the exchanges that could freeze or fail or whatever. And so I do this, um, in their premium custody account. And then they also have a Roth IRA, which I absolutely love because everything in that account stays mine when there is an appreciation. So that entire ROI process, that asymmetry up, I will not have to owe any of that to the government anytime I sell. And by the way, you can sell anytime in your Roth IRA. And so, um, I do use iTrustCapital for that as well. I have both of those accounts with them. Now, they do have a $100 funding bonus when you fund the account. If you use the link in the description, uh, it will automatically track that you come from my community, and they do promise my community that free funding bonus. And I say never turn away free money, especially if you have the option to now invest that money in an appreciating asset. The upside is absolutely tremendous, and time horizon is on your side for this. So again, the link is in the description if you want that. And also, if you want, uh, some clarity on your own positioning, um, what you should be doing with your portfolio, how you should be protecting it, uh, what kind of strategy works best for your personalized situation, that is what my clarity calls are for. The link is in the description for that. I only have so many slots for that, as a matter of fact. Um, because that time is well spent. We're really crafting out a personalized strategy, and I love to do it. People have taken those calls, and I've really enjoyed the implementation process of people just getting everything organized and clear so that they can have a clear roadmap into their financial freedom and have financial integrity with what it is that they're building. So check that out if you are interested in that. And also, don't forget to comment and let me know, are you for or against stablecoins? You know, um, they are really turning into one of the biggest new lenders to the most powerful government on Earth. And in a crisis, that loop only spins faster. So, uh, again, there's a lot of stuff happening in real time, and we just gotta pay attention and follow what is going on so that we can position ourselves the best way that we can. And for those who didn't understand what stablecoins were really backed by, now you know. So Hopefully you can share the education, continue to learn, continue to grow. This whole process is about being educated. The only way you're going to keep your conviction is if you stay educated. Continue to show up, learn, grow, develop yourself, understand the economy, the macro-centered events, and where this world is headed in context to digital assets. If you made it to the end of this video, that means that you are heavily involved and invested in your learning process, and I commend you for that, and I honor you for that. Keep showing up like you're doing. And as always, I want you to stay wise, stay wealthy, and I'll see you in the next video.
