You Will Recover: How to Take Back Your Health, Time, and Wealth—God’s Way

In this live teaching, Dr. Kamilah Stevenson delivers a sermon‑style motivational message centered on the biblical concept of recovery. She asserts that restoration is a believer’s right, grounded in covenant promises and the nature of God as a restorer. Using 1 Samuel 30—David’s experience after the loss of Ziklag—as a foundational blueprint, she outlines a three‑step process: (1) strengthen oneself in the Lord, (2) inquire of God for direction, and (3) take aligned, faith‑filled action. Stevenson then identifies five specific domains God wants believers to recover: health, wealth, time (including lost years), purpose/confidence, and inner peace. She shares personal testimony of anxiety, emphasizes the importance of speaking and meditating on Scripture, and warns against toxic influences that discourage prosperity. The teaching culminates in an invitation to a 90‑day “recovery community” at breakbigbarriers.com, encouraging viewers to join her YouTube channel for ongoing live sessions and deeper content. The overall message is that, like David, believers can expect God to restore everything they have lost when they follow this divine recovery blueprint.

What's going on? I have something that will be a blessing for you. Come on in. Uh, I got something that's going to be a blessing for you. I really want to encourage you today. I really, really want to encourage you, um, and I'm going to do just that. And I think you're going to find out that there is light on the other side at the end of the tunnel. Whatever you might be facing, um, God is going to restore you and you will recover all I promise you, it's God's word, it's his promise. And, um, yeah, so come on in. Let me see. All right, cool. All right, come on in. I want to talk to you about the power of recovery and why God wants you to recover the things that you have lost. I want to walk you through this so you can really understand what season you're in. I really feel like, um, God was speaking this to me, um, just the last few days, and I want to share it and I want to encourage you because there's some things that you need to recover. Hey guys, how are you? Good to see you, good to see you. I won't be long. I just want to share something that is really going to bless you. And I really want to talk about the power of recovery. Who here needs to recover things that they lost? Restoration is your biblical right. Restoration is your biblical right, guys. It is your biblical right. And I know some of you all have been through a lot. Some of you, uh, might feel like you have lost so much. Um, maybe you've lost too much time, you know, so much peace, too many years in survival mode. Today I want to remind you of this truth, and that is God is a restorer. All right, and if you are still breathing, you are not too late. Not only does God want you to recover, it is your right. Okay, and I want to show you, uh, through the word, through wisdom, and through your next steps what that looks like. All right, so let's give you a kingdom perspective of what it means to recover. And I'm looking over— hey guys, thank you, God bless you also. Happy to see you guys. Um, I want to give you a kingdom perspective of what recovery is defined as. And I'm telling you, if you, if you learn this, if you understand this, it will bless you. It will change the course of your entire life. To recover means to get back what was lost, stolen, or wasted. Do you hear me? I know you have lost some things. I know some things may have been stolen and some things have just been wasted, right? Recover means to get all of that back. It also means to return to you strength, clarity, and purpose. I love that. And being restored to wholeness is in alignment with God's design. That's where he wants you. Now, in, in Hebrew, remember, the idea of recovery is closely tied to shalom. Nothing missing, nothing broken. Psalms 23 says he restores my soul. Now, who other than God can restore your soul? If you need restoration in your soul, that's only going to come from God. And God doesn't just want to fix a part of you, okay? I know we always got these little parts of us that we want fixing. God don't, don't just want to fix a part of you. He wants to restore your entire life, your whole life. Your health, your mindset, your purpose, your peace. He wants all of it restored, and it is a season of restoration because it is your biblical right. Now imagine this, I want to give you a foundational scripture in 1 Samuel chapter 30, and David has a recovery blueprint. And if you learn from David's recovery blueprint, I'm telling you, your life will never be the same. So let's, uh, let me pull up the scripture real quick that I want to walk through real quick. Um, let me give you the background first. Um, David returns to Ziklag to find a city that is burned, their family taken, everybody taken, and the people are weeping until they had no strength left. David's own men talked about stoning him. Imagine coming back to a place, everything is gone— your spouse, your kids, everything, right? And what does David do? Now, this is some real— this is some real need for recovery. When, when you, when you come back to a place where everything is gone, look at what David does. Samuel, uh, 30, and let's see, um Verse 6: David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him. Each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters, but David found strength in the Lord his God. Number 1, the Bible says in 1 Samuel 30:6, the first thing that Samuel does is Samuel encourages himself in the Lord. Listen to me, sometimes life is going to be lifin', things is going to be happening, things may not agree, uh, with what your design is and what your vision is for how things are going. But I'm telling you that it comes a time where sometimes you just have to encourage yourself in the Lord, because ain't nobody gonna encourage you in that moment. And so David He didn't spiral, he didn't panic, he strengthened himself first. So recovery starts with inner alignment. That's why I talk so much about the inner man, okay? And then in, in 1 Samuel 30:8, it says, and then what David did was he inquired at the Lord, saying, shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I go over them? Shall I overtake them? Shall I go up to get what was taken from me? And so he inquired first. He didn't just do— you know, sometimes we get mad and we just ready to just take life into our own hands, and we don't take a minute to just simply ask God, is this something that I should pursue? Because a lot of the devastation that comes from, uh, from our life is us pursuing things that we shouldn't pursue. We got to know what we should pursue and what we shouldn't. We got to know what, what things are, are supposed to be given over to the Lord, right? And so God answered him and said, pursue. He said, you shall overtake them. Listen to the words that he spoke to him: without fail and recover all. Without fail, meaning you can go pursue, there will be no failure in this pursuit. And you will recover every single thing that was taken from you. And let me, let me just let you know, this is God's heart. He said not partial, not some of it, you're gonna get some of your stuff back, some of your money, some of your time. He said without fail, you're going to get every single thing back. You're going to recover everything. When God is ushering you into recovery What he's saying is that it's not just going to be some stuff that get recovered, it's going to be everything. And let me tell you, that's exactly what happened in 1 Samuel, uh, uh, 30:18-19, is David recovered everything, every single thing that was taken from him and, and, and, and had it carried away. Nothing— can you imagine all the stuff that's taken from you and then you recover and nothing is missing? David bought back everything, all right? Enough to bless some others who didn't even go with him, all right? So God wants to get everything back restored to you. Restoration is in full process if you receive it, but there is a blueprint. Now here's what I want you to know: you may feel like you lost everything, and I don't know what that means for some of you, like, like, I feel like I just lost everything, I'm losing everything. You may feel like it's everything But if you do what David did, if you strengthen yourself, if you inquire of the Lord and you take action, you will recover all. I'm telling you, you will recover all. Not some, not a little bit, not, not half, not almost all. You will recover all. Now I want to tell you why recovery is your biblical right, okay? First of all, is because of the covenant. Throughout the scripture, God shows his nature as a restorer. He is a restorer. Jeremiah 30:17 says, I will restore health to you and heal your wounds. So restoration isn't some act of pity from God, it's an act of covenant love. And then also, the reason why, uh, recovery is your biblical right is because of the cross. Jesus came to restore what was lost in the garden. Identity, authority, peace, purpose. He came to restore what was lost, right? And then it's because it's his nature. It is of his nature to restore. Joel, uh, 2:25 talks about, I will restore to you— listen to this— the years that the locust has eaten. Eaten. I said eating. I need to eat. I'm hungry, y'all. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord. So here's what's interesting is God doesn't just restore in moments, he restores years. He said, I will restore years that the locust has eaten. And that's why I love this, this, the, the idea and the concept and the biblical right of restoration. Is because it will go back and it will cover everything that has been taken from you. Now, there are areas that God wants you to recover in, and I want to share with you 5 different areas that I believe that God wants you to recover in. All right, all right, I'm looking at some of the comments. All right, number 1, health, right? Health, health, health, health. Health. Uh, Isaiah, uh, 53:5, by his stripes we are healed. God wants you to be healed. Healing is not just physical, it's spiritual, it's emotional, and it's psychological. Healing comes in different aspects. And I love that Isaiah said you are healed. Like, even though, even though, uh, the covenant had not been fulfilled, even though Jesus had not already arrived on the scene yet, Here he is all the way in the past, what we would consider as the past, and he is speaking as if it's the present. That's why I love the— and I can't go into it, but connecting with the present. Because when you connect to the present, you will find God, you will find everything that you need. He said by his stripes we are healed. You are healed, you are wealthy. You don't have to wait, oh, I will be. I— no, no, you're just waiting on time to catch up with the reality of what you are, what the Bible says you are. And you need to start speaking the word of God over your life, no matter what circumstances that you're in. The word of God is true, and let everybody else be a lie. And I, and I, and I love the Bible. I love the word of God. I love— and of course, y'all, let's not, let's, let's not limit it to, okay, we, we reading scripture, but we're not allowing it to, uh, have its place in our life. We're not allowing it to have life in us, right? It's not fulfilled. We're not implementing it because The rhema is what you're going to live by. It's your daily bread, right? And so it's not just about reading the Bible, it's about allowing God to speak to you when you read the Bible, because you need your daily bread, right? You need the rhema, you need God's word to speak to you, and you need to have ears to hear what God is saying. So I don't want this to be religious. I'm not talking about religion, I'm talking about a real relationship with God's word. Now, so your health I will restore health to you. Jeremiah 30:17. Remember, I will restore health to you. God wants you recovered in the area of your health. Another area is your wealth. Your Father owns it all. Abba owns it all. Financial freedom is not about greed, it's about stewardship and impact. Recovery in your finances means moving from survival, trying to figure it out, scarcity, to overflow, right? Deuteronomy 8:18 says it is he who gives you the power to get wealthy. God's— God gives you power to get wealthy. And I love Proverbs 10:22 that says the blessings of the Lord, the blessing of the Lord, it makes one rich and it adds no sorrow. He adds no sorrow to it. So watch out, y'all. Watch out for them people who get mad because you get wealthy. Get mad because some people just don't like wealthy people, you know. Some people just don't like you to be rich. They, they think you should apologize for it, for having money and having resources, right? And, and it's, it's about more than money. First of all, it's about recovered peace, provision, and purpose, okay? So it's about more than money. But some people just want you miserable. I don't know, it's because they miserable, right? They just want you miserable. Right? So be careful if you have people around you who get mad at wealthy people, get mad just because somebody rich. Oh, they got too much money, they'd be doing it, that, that, all that entitlement. Get it out of your ears. It is toxic. He gives you blessings and he will make you rich and wealthy and he will add no sorrow to it. So if God ain't adding no sorrow to it, you not gonna add no sorrow to it. I don't want to hear what you got to say. About the wealthy, because I believe in the wealthy, because God believes in the wealthy. All right, and I'm not saying that to say that there's a, a priority or anything. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying receive what the Bible says. If he not adding sorrow and he not making you apologize for the resources that he has given you, why is your family and your friends and other people who are living in lack and despair and scarcity, trying to make you have sorrow for what God has promised you. Get them toxic people out of your life, okay? Then he's going to recover your time. So I want you to know you are not too late. You have not missed it. God can redeem and accelerate what was lost. Remember, he says, I will restore the years, even wasted years, even the hard seasons, even what you lost in ignorance or in rebellion. Hear me out when I say this. God specializes in redemptive acceleration. Redemptive acceleration is your season. Number 4 is purpose and confidence. He wants to restore to you purpose and confidence, and that's because sometimes the greatest loss is really a loss of clarity and belief in yourself, right? Recovery looks like remembering who you are and why you're here, and some people just lose faith in themselves, okay? Okay, and God wants to make sure that there's a double portion to you. Even instead of your shame, even if you've done things wrong, God wants to, instead of your shame, give you double portion. Okay, he is a forgiving God, he is a kind God, he is generous. I am so grateful to be in, in, in connection with the Lord. I mean I, I just, I just went into a place of gratefulness today because he's just so kind, y'all. God is kinder than we ever, ever, ever deserve to have. We don't deserve none of the stuff that he does for us, none of what he's already done for us. He is so kind. And I'm telling you, if you lean in, you will understand that God wants to restore everything in your life that you have, have lost or gotten out of control. And then the fifth thing he also wants to do, and I love this, is that he wants to restore your peace of mind. So many people have anxiety, and I have had anxiety, y'all. I had the worst season of anxiety that I've ever had in my life. I don't ever want to feel that level of anxiety ever again. I could not sleep at night for about 10 months straight, and I didn't even realize anxiety could be that bad. But man, I didn't have— I didn't have a lot of peace during that time because of the anxiety, except for the moments that I just connected with God. I mean, he's the only one that, uh, broke me through that season, because I, I literally— every time I laid my head down at night, I thought I was gonna die. I had really, really bad, like, going to the ER room type anxiety. So even when people talk about it, I understand it. But let me tell you, God wants to recover you and give you a peace of mind. You can recover from anxiety, from trauma, from overthinking. Some people, they can't even rest because they're just overthinking all day. From emotional chaos, God wants to recover you. He wants to give you a sound mind, and the peace of God will rule in your hearts. Your life should be governed and umpired by the peace of God. And that, that, that's the principle that we live on. And so sometimes the first thing God restores is your inner peace, because when your soul is restored, everything else will flow from that place. Now I want you to know there is a role that you, that you have in, in your recovery. And as we went over the scripture, remember, David didn't just pray He didn't just pray, he pursued, okay? He pursued. You have a part to play, right? And here's what that looks like. Number one, and we just really going back through the framework: strengthen yourself in the Lord, encourage yourself when no one else is, pray, worship, speak the word over your life, meditate on the word daily, okay? Strengthen yourself in the Lord. Then inquire of the Lord, ask for strategy, ask for the next step. Listen, this is— we, we got to start including God in on everything we do. It don't matter what your job is, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're a parent, if you're a spouse, whatever business, um, savviness you got, whatever goals you have, whatever your purpose is, whatever it is, God wants to be a part of everything, right? He wants to be a part of everything. He has to give clarity. He gives clarity in motion, right? So you need strategy, you need Clarity. If you live without clarity, you, you're just living in confusion, and he's not the author of confusion. You're not going to be able to have a path towards the vision and the dream and the purpose that you have and what God wants you to have. You're not going to be able to make those achievements in life outside of a strategy, outside of God giving you wisdom to be and direction and what, where you, what you should be doing. Okay, so inquire of God in everything. Don't think there's— don't, don't separate your life from God, not at all. If you are— whatever it is that you are doing, your next step, whatever you're doing, whatever decisions you're deciding, ask God, inquire God. What? Why? Why not? It's not gonna hurt you to inquire God— of God. Is this the right way? Is this not the right way? Should I do this? Should I not do this? There's some things that God wants you to do. He want— there's some actions that God wants you to take. And that's the next one, is take aligned actions. Take actions in alignment with God. And this is where faith becomes real, real, real, okay? Real, real. We're not talking about like, uh, oh yeah, I believe. It's a lot of people that believe a lot of things, but faith without works is dead. Do you understand what I'm saying? You can say you believe, oh, I believe I'm gonna start this business, I believe I'm gonna get there, I'm gonna do this. You're not doing nothing until you take some action. You got to put some work in it. That, that's, that's where faith is manifested. How do we know that it's real faith until you do something? Like, woulda, shoulda, coulda, and oh, I should do this and all this. No, we don't really even know. You don't even know it's faith until you do something. Faith without works is dead. So there has to be some aligned action, right? So you have to say yes to the process. Sometimes recovery begins when you say yes to the process, even when you are hurting. Okay, hurting, because I know some of y'all are hurting, and God wants to recover you. God wants to restore you. He wants to take that pain outside of your heart, outside of your life, and allow you to really live in, in prosperity. That's what's promised to us. So recovery isn't passive, it's powerful, and it is proactive. So understand that there are things— I keep talking about this this thing about decisions. There's things that you really should be doing, um, and until you do them, you will not recover. You won't recover all. If you want to recover things that were lost to you, years that were lost, everything that the locust has stolen, has eaten up, um, all the mistakes maybe that you've made— some of this stuff is your fault, some of it isn't, uh, but if you want the recovery and you want the return of the things that belong to you, the promises that belong to you it will not come without actions that you need to take. Now make sure those actions are in alignment with God, right? All right, this, um, I don't think this is just a nice message. It is a divine moment. It's a divine moment for some of you all. And if you know God is calling you to recover, to heal your body, to restore your finances, to redeem lost years, to remember who you are, to step in peace and purpose, I have created a community that you can be a part of, and if you want to be a part of, if you feel like that is something that God is calling you to, or that you need, is that you need that support. And here's what, uh, my 90-day challenge involves. It's a guided journey full of support, like-minded people going after the same things, um, that, that you desire to go after. And yes, some of you all are battling with health, some of you all are battling with wealth, and we cover all of that. We're learning about investing, um, how to stop sabotaging, how to rewire your thoughts and reset your habits. Um, this is a recovery season, and it's your recovery season. And just like David, you don't have to do it alone. If, if you're in this place, you don't have to do it alone. All right, so if that's you, let's walk together, um, because God is ready, heaven is ready, and now it's your turn. You will recover.
