You’re Not Making Your Own Decisions—And Here’s Why

Your subconscious runs on old programming from past pain, making most of your choices for you. Three steps to take back control: surface your limiting beliefs, release the false identity you built to survive, and deliberately reprogram yourself through daily actions that match who you want to be.

Most people think they're in control of their decisions, but the reality is, they're not. Your mind is running on autopilot, replaying programs and beliefs that were installed years ago. Beliefs you didn't even choose. And if you don't wake up to this, you'll stay stuck in the same patterns, wondering why nothing changes no matter how hard you try. Today, I'm sharing 3 life-changing steps to reprogram your mindset so you can finally break free and create the life you truly want. Now, before we dive in, if you're serious about transforming your mindset and overcoming limitations that restrict you from attaining true wellness, then make sure to hit that subscribe button and turn on your notifications. I've got more content like this coming your way, and you don't want to miss it. All right, let me start by saying that your subconscious mind is like a filter that shapes how you see the world. Every decision you make, every opportunity you take or don't take is influenced by this filter. And this filter wasn't created by you. It was shaped by past experiences, environments, and repeated patterns. Think about this. Have you ever tried to start something new, like eating healthier, working out, or taking a big step in your career, only to sabotage yourself halfway through? It's not because you don't want to succeed. It's because your subconscious mind may be running on beliefs like, I'm not good enough, or I always fail. Until you recognize these beliefs, they'll control your choices no matter how much you consciously want to change. And I think the first step is very simple. It's just to take some time to reflect on your patterns. What keeps showing up in your life that you don't want? What choices do you keep making that hold you back? These are clues to the programming running in the background, and you must discover them through self-awareness. Now, step 2 is to break free from false identity. Most of us are living from a false identity, a version of ourselves that was created to cope with past pain or fear. For example, someone who was told as a child they needed to be perfect to be loved might grow up constantly chasing perfection. They avoid risks, fear failure, and seek validation from others. This false identity might keep them safe from criticism, but it also keeps them stuck. Here's the truth: if you're operating from a false identity, you'll never be able to create the life you really want. Why? Because every decision you make will be about protecting that false identity, not about growing into who you're meant to be. So how do you start changing this? Well, you have to ask yourself, what labels or identities have I taken on that no longer serve me? Are you the people pleaser, the overachiever, the I'm not good enough person? Recognizing these is the first step to breaking free, because to overcome this, you must discover who you really are, not who you are potentially impersonating to get by in life. That leads me to step number 3, which is reprogram your mindset and choose a new identity. Now, this is where the real work begins. Once you've identified the beliefs and the false identities holding you back, it's time to reprogram your mind. And no, this isn't about slapping a positive affirmation and hoping for the best. It's about consciously deciding who you want to be and taking aligned actions every day to reinforce that identity. For example, if you've always seen yourself as someone who can't handle failure, reframe that belief. Tell yourself, I am resilient, and every failure is a step towards growth. Then act on it. Take a risk. Do something uncomfortable. Every time you make a choice that aligns with your new identity, you're rewiring your brain. Over time, these new patterns become your default. It doesn't matter if you hit the mark or not. These are habits that are going to condition your brain to think differently, you'll act differently, and eventually, you'll manifest differently. Now, why does this matter? It matters because your life is the sum of your decisions. But here's the catch: if you don't change the programming behind those decisions, nothing will change. This is why so many people feel stuck, repeating the same cycles in relationships, careers, and health. The key isn't just learning new strategies; it's becoming a new person. When you reprogram your mind and shed your false identity, the possibilities are endless.
