Are These 6 Strangers Brothers & Sisters? | KARAMO

In this episode of KARAMO, host Karamo brings together six adults—Carla, Dee (Daveen), Sylvia, Aaron, and mentions David—to investigate whether they share a common father, Maurice "Pickles," and a rare genetic trait: a sixth finger (polydactyly). The participants recount fragmented memories of Maurice, their mothers' stories, and their own experiences growing up with the extra digit. Karamo facilitates introductions, elicits personal histories, and ultimately reveals DNA test results. The results confirm that Carla, Dee, David (via a recorded message), and Sylvia are biological siblings of Maurice, while Aaron, despite lacking the sixth finger, is not genetically related but is embraced as a social brother. The episode explores themes of identity, closure, and the redefinition of family, ending with the host offering resources for further DNA testing and emotional support for viewers.

We need to know. Need to know.
Need to know.
Need to know.
Need to know.
We need to know if we are all related.
We all have a genetic trait. We were born with 6 fingers on one hand.
I was born with 6 fingers.
I was born with 6 fingers. 6 fingers don't make us all siblings.
I just want to know the truth.
I want the DNA truth.
Listen, Daveen made all these connections possible, so let's meet Daveen. So we can hear her side of the story. Welcome to the show. Y'all at home, y'all ain't see when Daveen walked out here, but you look cute. You look great, okay? Yeah.
Thank you.
So I gotta ask you, how do you feel when Carla says Maurice had 500 kids?
He was a rolling stone, so it's possible.
500 though?
Nah, maybe not 500, but close to it.
Wow, okay. I wanna meet Carla. Who you all connected a long time ago and hear her side of the story. So everyone, please welcome Carla to the show. Hi, Carla.
Hi.
How you doing? I'm good. Thank you for being here.
Thank you.
So do you believe you all are related?
Yes.
Okay.
I do believe 100% that all of us are siblings.
But you have different mothers, correct?
Yes.
Okay, perfect.
All of us have different mothers.
Okay then. And each of your mothers say Maurice could be your father, but they're not definite. Is that what I'm hearing from my producer?
My mother says that's my daddy, so I'm hoping that's my daddy.
You said not my mama, my mama is sure. That's my daddy. We just heard from Daveen that her father wasn't in her life too much. Was he in your life?
No, I seen my father twice in my life. Life at 8 and 16. Uh-huh. And that was it. And so that's why he's been called the donor.
By the way, how long has it been since Maurice has passed?
I believe he passed in 2022.
2022, okay.
And that's because I did a little research contacting the Social Security office. When he was alive, they wouldn't give me any information because they said some people do not want to be found, so they can't give out that information.
Got it.
So when she did give me information, I knew he was deceased.
Got it.
I don't know exactly where he was deceased. I believe he was in the Arizona area, 'cause at some point I talked to a woman that he was involved with from the Arizona area that has 2 children with him.
Got it, got it.
And they're like my daughter's age. So I never met them before. I'm in a search of them now.
Oh wow. Okay. So there is even younger siblings. Yes.
Oh, of course.
So yeah, he was really out here.
Now Aaron is my son's age.
Oh wow.
Yeah.
Oh wow.
Aaron and my son at some point played football together.
Wow.
Yeah, and I met Aaron when my grandfather passed away and his mother brought him to my grandmother's house. That's when I found out that he was supposed to be my brother.
Did any of you go to Maurice's funeral?
I don't even know if he had a funeral. Yeah, I hadn't seen him since I graduated from high school. High school.
Okay.
And I've been out of high school for 30, what, 40 years.
Yeah. And that skin still look good. Come on. Okay. You have done both of y'all. All right. So I think it's time that we meet Aaron. So everyone, let's welcome Aaron to the show. Hey Aaron, how you doing? How you doing?
Hey, how you doing?
All right.
So how did you feel being welcomed into the family? What did that feel like?
Man, it was like kind of a sigh of relief.
Yeah.
Like some of the stories, you know what I'm saying, I've been hearing all my life or whatever, you know, just trying to put it all together at this point.
When did you first hear about any of them?
I met Daveen when I was younger.
Oh.
Man, it was like kind of vivid, you know, it was like quick exchange or whatever, but you know what I'm saying, she introduced me to her son, same age as me, so you know, we just, Went on like that and years passed and then finally got back in touch with each other.
Oh, that's great. So who raised you exactly?
My mother.
Your mother did?
Yeah.
And did you ever meet Maurice?
No, I talked to him probably like once or twice on a prison call.
Oh wow. So when was the first time you heard about him?
When I was younger.
Okay. Well, one of your potential siblings, David, isn't here, but he did wanna share a message with you all. So let's take a listen to that message. I believe my siblings are Daveen, Renee, D and Sylvia. I don't believe Aaron is related to us because he doesn't have the 6 fingers like we do. Without the extra finger, I have real doubt. Okay. I wasn't expecting that message. Did you know that he felt that way?
No, but that's understandable. You know, everybody, you know, go through certain things. So, you know, I mean, you just got to be sure.
Oh God, he got you.
Well, he's still my brother.
He's still my brother.
He's my brother.
So I just wanna be clear with y'all. He's the baby. That's your baby. That's the baby.
He's the baby.
So just let y'all know, so you've heard them talk about fingers. Each of you were born with a sixth finger, correct?
Yes.
And so according to childrenshospital.org, about 1 in every 500 to 1,000 babies are born with this condition. But it's very, very rare. It's like a genetic thing. So usually if you have that sixth finger, It kind of is a telltale sign. It doesn't always mean that, but the fact that you all have that sixth finger lets us know that this is something where you all could be related.
Yeah.
Right. Are you friendly with David?
Yeah.
You are friendly with him? Yeah. Okay then, got it. And you were born with the sixth finger as well? Yes. Yeah, okay. Well listen, my producers tell me that Aaron and Carla, you both haven't met Sylvia yet. Is that true? Correct.
Wow.
Are you ready to meet your potential sister? Yeah.
I guess.
Well, I think it's time. You talking about I guess? I think it's time to meet Sylvia then. Okay, Sylvia, come on out. Hi Sylvia, how are you doing? Thank you for being here.
That's Riri to me.
Sylvia. Hey.
Hey.
That's Riri.
That's Riri to you?
That's Riri.
Where you get the nickname Riri for?
My father.
Got it, got it. So who raised you then? Did Maurice raise you?
No.
Okay.
I've never seen him before in my life.
Got it.
I was raised by my mother and my father. My mother was actually my cousin. She was married to my father for, I mean, many years. And I was raised by those two people there.
Got it, okay. Did you ever have questions about where you came from?
No.
Never?
I never questioned anything.
Were you an only child?
Yes, I was raised as an only child.
Okay, okay.
And my dad told me when I was younger, and so did my mother, So I was okay. Was never treated different, didn't feel any different. And my dad was just, would talk to me, communicate with me. And he told me, I'm not your father as far as blood. And if you ever want to meet your dad or find him, let me know and I'll help you.
Good.
Yeah, so.
That's a good example. I always like to bring those things up 'cause somebody out there could be watching might thinking like, I'm doing the best by keeping a secret when in actuality, honest and open communication is actually what makes a family strong. Sitting in the audience today is Dee, another possible sibling. Hey Dee, how you doing?
That's my sister.
Dee, you've been listening. Tell us what's going through your mind right now.
It's a lot knowing that you have other siblings and just the thought that there's more out there. And I think just maybe the ones maybe could be watching the show for the ones that, you know, are still out there. Something you just, you know, I thought I only had one that was Daveen. And then Daveen let me know that I had Carla. And so I've known them for a few years and then we kind of lost touch in and out and then back together. And so that was just natural. And then when her getting us together, Daveen getting Carla, David, and Aaron together, I was like, oh wow.
Okay, that's where the big surprise is. I'm coming, I'm coming.
Yeah, yeah. And then finding out that there's another one, Sylvia, I was like, "Oh wow, Atlanta?" I go to Atlanta all the time. So I was like, "What? I wanna connect with her." So it's a good feeling.
Yeah, but that is a lot. Did you know Maurice?
No, Maurice and my mom got married and then they got an annulment. And he was gone before, right before I was born.
Got it, got it.
Yeah, but everybody, all my family knew Maurice. His nickname was Pickles. Pickles. Now, they're finding out that Papa was a rolling stone. That's what I said. He was a rolling stone.
Did your mother ever speak to Maurice after that?
Yeah, I seen him like 3 times.
Got it.
I don't remember him.
Okay, yeah, 'cause you were younger.
Right.
Okay then. Did you grow up with siblings?
Yes, I have 2 other sisters.
2 other sisters.
Yes.
Okay then, got it, got it. Well, I'll tell you this, anybody out there, if you think that Maurice Pickle could be your father, listen. They just keep calling out.
Listen.
They keep calling out to Jesus.
Listen. They keep calling out to Jesus.
We got the resources here. We'll try to help you figure it out, all right? Listen. Before we get to the DNA truth, Dee, I want to invite you up to the stage if you want to come on up here. Yeah. I mean, y'all siblings. Come on, Dee. Okay, come on, Fitz. I see you.
Good seat, bro.
Well, I think it's time we get to the DNA truth. Are y'all ready? Okay. All right, we're gonna go in order of age. So one is Carla. Here's your DNA truth to open. It's not my truth, so you got it. Okay.
Well, here we go. I've been waiting for this and waiting for this for years.
You my brother! Oh my God. Oh my God. There you go, love. There you go. There you go.
I know that has to be a weight lifted because you got the answers, but you didn't really know for sure. But now you have your confirmation.
Yeah.
Yeah, there you go. Well, Dee, you're next of age, so will you have your DNA truth? Here you go.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
It's one thing to be told who your father is and not knowing him. It's another thing to be told you got 6 fingers and you got it from that side. And then to be told that you have other siblings out there that have been through the same thing that you've been through, and you question yourself, well, why you?
Yeah, I hear you.
So for the ones I've met and what you have taught me and just sharing your stories for what you know, You'll still be my siblings regardless. And for you, I can't wait to get to know you. I just always prayed that, you know, other people didn't have to go through it. I mean, I lived a good life. My mom, I didn't ask, I didn't want for anything, and my stepdad came in my life and raised me. Yeah, 'cause our biological didn't deal with these questions. Yeah. That's closure. That's closure.
My mom knew who she slept with. All right, since David wasn't here, I will read his truth.
Okay.
Now he look like Maurice, that better be his truth.
Okay, you said he look like Maurice?
He look just like him. A lot of people say me and him look alike.
David, Daveen, Carla, and Dee are biological family. Okay, Sylvia, you're next in age, so here goes your truth.
He's 3 months older than me.
Oh, he's 3 months older?
3 months older than I am.
Maybe 3 months older.
Yeah, this is for my dad. Real talk, y'all.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Forget that, forget that.
Thank you so much. Welcome to the family.
Now you not the only child. Not no more. Not at all.
Not even.
All right, Aaron, you the baby, so here's your DNA truth.
Baby boy, you got this.
That's crazy.
What? Oh my goodness. You are brother.
You still my baby. You still my baby.
You still my baby.
How are you?
I'm doing all right. Aaron, I'm so sorry. I think we all were under the assumption that you all were related?
Yes.
Right. But you know, it's only one other person, so it's—
So has your mother given you information that there could possibly be someone else?
My mother passed in 2001, so I mean, it was always, you know, roundabout, but pretty much no.
Okay. I know you got your sisters, and even though you might not be biologically related, I can tell these women are gonna rock with you I'm with you for the rest of your life.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah, most definitely. Most definitely.
Do you have any other siblings?
Oh yeah, brother and sister on my mother's side.
Your brother and sister on your mother's side. Well, if you want to ever test, if you feel like you need that answers and those closures, we are here for you. We have resources. I'm so sorry, brother.
I'm sorry.
I appreciate it. Yeah, we're here for you. And to the rest of you, I'm glad you got your answers. I'm glad you know now. Yes. Debbie, how do you feel about Aaron knowing that that was your little brother?
He's still my brother.
Yeah.
He's still my brother. There's a connection there. He's still in my heart. Yes. And he's still my brother.
Yes.
He's still gonna come in. He gonna still be in our group chat.
The whole nine.
Nothing's gonna change.
Aaron, do you want that?
Yeah, yeah.
Sure. Good, good, good, good, good, good. So again, if you want support, supporting that, we'll help you. And if y'all want to come back and be here to support him, I got y'all as well. All right, well, we'll be back. Okay, you'll be back with the other siblings. You're right.
