A woman describes her emotionally draining childhood with an absent, neglectful mother who blamed her own upbringing. She's angry at those excuses and determined to break the cycle with her own kids, refusing to repeat the same patterns.
I had to go to therapy and stuff 'cause I was just so drained because I wanted my mom. I was a teenager, I felt like she should've been there and she wasn't.
Yeah, yeah.
Because she could've made better choices and she didn't and then she still says like, um, I did it for y'all. No, you didn't do it for us. You didn't have to do all that. Like, you could've got a job, you could've took care of us the right way instead of putting us through all that. There's no reason for it. And she says, Well, my mom was like that. I don't know anything else. I'm not like that. I will never be like that. Never in a million years to my babies will I ever do anything she's done to me.
Mm-hmm, yeah. Someone said out here, what you did is break the chains, and we're proud of you for that. Give it up for that.
