So, when did you find out that your father might not be the man who raised you?
It was a random Monday in December. I was at work and I got a message from a lady that I did not know. Uh-huh. Um, basically saying that her boyfriend thinks that he's my biological father. Wow.
Yeah.
Random.
Yeah, so random and crazy.
So how did you react to receiving that message about your alleged father?
Well, I was shocked. It never had crossed my mind anytime before that. So when I got the message, I showed my sister and she said, "That's a scam." She was like, "That's not true." So for funsies, I was like, "Okay, well what's my mom's name?" And she sent back my mom's name and her two best friends' names as well.
Oh.
Yeah.
Oh, wow. She had a lot of information to be the girlfriend.
Yeah, well, I'm assuming she got it from him.
Yeah, of course. No, but I mean, like, that's just a lot for me. 'Cause if I'm thinking it, 'cause I would've thought like your sister, I'd've thought it was a scam.
Yeah.
And luckily you replied because you got more information about what actually—
From him, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So what happened when you reached out to your alleged father?
I had a lot of questions. For him in particular, like where him and my mom met and how long their situation was going on. He gave me a lot of answers as well, but there was too many questions that I had.
Yeah, of course, yeah. So what did he tell you about the situation?
Well, my mom told him that the father that raised me and—
Uh-huh.
Her were broken up at the time.
Okay.
But they were married.
Got it.
And they met at a car wash when my mom was on vacation in Louisiana.
Got it. So your mom was in a relationship and then they were on a break. She meets him.
Yes.
They have a situation. Yes. And then she goes back, she goes back to her husband.
Yes.
Got it. So have you met him?
Roger?
Yeah.
Yes.
You have met him?
Yes, sir.
When have you met him?
I took a trip to Louisiana with my best friend and I met him and his family and they were just so sweet. So, so nice to me, welcomed me.
Because how long ago this all happened?
It started in December.
December?
Yes.
So we're only a couple months.
Yes.
Okay, and since that couple months you've already met him?
Yes.
And it felt nice and sweet? Yeah. Did you feel like there was a connection?
Yes, we enjoyed some of the same things. I like Arnold Palmer, he likes Arnold Palmer. So it was like a lot of like little, little things that matched up.
Got it. Has this affected your relationship with the man who actually raised you?
Yes, he actually stopped talking to me for a few weeks, but we're back in good graces now.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Well, what's sad about that is that you were a child, you would've had nothing to do with this.
Yeah.
So for him to stop communicating with you is hard. I'm glad that he's back. Did he apologize for that moment?
Yes, he did.
Good.
Yes.
Perfect, good. How old were you when you lost your mother?
12 years old.
12 years old?
I was 12, yes.
Okay. Oh, she's beautiful. Look at you, adorable. So that makes it even more why, 'cause this man who you thought, who's your father who raised you, this man has been there since your mother passed.
Yeah. Got it. I mean, he was all I knew. So getting this new information was crazy.
Yeah, here you go, love. What's making you emotional right now?
That picture.
Oh yeah.
But I never would've thought that I would be in this situation. It never crossed my mind. I mean, there was a while back, I had to have been like maybe 10, the father that raised me got a message from one of his family members saying that Roderick reached out to them and telling him that I was his biological daughter.
Got it.
And that's the only time that I remember Roderick ever coming up. But I asked him, I said, "Well, what did my mom say about it?" And he's like, "Well, she never," explained it away or anything of the sort.
Yeah.
So I never thought about it again until I got that message.
Of course.
So how's all this affected your life?
I just told my maternal family about it this past weekend.
Yeah.
They were all very shocked. One person in particular, she was very upset with my mom because they talked every day and, you know, 2, 3 times a day, they were very close and she never, Mention I might have a different father.
Got it, okay then. Well, I think it's time to meet your potential father, Roderick, and hear what he has to say. So everyone please welcome Roderick to the show. Hey, Roderick, how you doing? Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, sir.
Thank you for being here.
Nice to meet you, cuz. So when did you first find out about Tamara?
I met her mother at the car wash. She was coming in from out of town. And she was trying to get the bugs off her car from the highway. And I, excuse me.
Take your time, take your time.
We exchanged numbers and we had a fling for about 6 months.
Okay.
And she told me she, we cut it off 'cause she said she was going back to her husband.
Got it, got it, got it. So you knew that she was getting out of a relationship and then was going back. So that wasn't a mystery. Got it. And so you said you were together for 6 months. Did her mother ever tell you that she was pregnant?
Yeah, she told me she was pregnant.
She did tell you? Okay then. And did you ever meet Tamara as a child?
Yeah, I met her one time when she was about 2 years old. Her mother come pick me, she invited me to come to Dallas and she came pick me up from the bus station.
Yeah. Okay then. And Tamara, did you know that?
Yeah, we've talked a little bit about it.
Got it. So you've heard the story of how they met?
Yeah.
So at that moment when she was 2 years old and you met her for the first time, what were you thinking?
I was thinking like, I said, "Yeah, she look just like me." I said, "She look exactly like my other daughter too." Yeah.
So did you ever try to have a relationship with Tamara?
No, no, not really because I knew her mother was married and I ain't wanna mess that up for her.
Got it. Did you ever think about her over the years?
Over the years, a lot. I thought about her a lot. I used to go through her Facebook page and see how she was doing and how she was growing. Wow.
Wow.
Yeah. Wow.
So why did you decide to look for her now?
Because me and my girlfriend, we was talking. She asked me how many kids I have. I told her I had a daughter in Dallas and she said, "Do you know her?" I said, "Yeah, I know her. I don't know her, but I know of her." And I called her.
How do you feel when you first connected with her?
I felt great. I finally got a chance to meet her. I was really excited. I was having a piece of me that was missing and now it's back together again.
Oh, nice. Do you have other children?
Yeah, I got 4 more kids.
4 more kids, okay. And you only on your mother's side have 1 other sister?
1 sister, 1 brother.
Okay then, so potentially you could have more siblings. How do you feel about that?
I'm open to it. My sister's not.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She does not wanna share me. She's made that very clear.
That's normally how sisters are. So what are these DNA results? What will they mean to you?
It really mean a lot to me 'cause She been missing out on my life all these years. I just wanna bring her in and get her to know the family. Yeah.
Yeah, I get it. Well, I think it's time to solve this DNA mystery. Tamara, are you ready?
Yeah, I guess so.
Okay, well come with me. Come with me. Tamara, in this envelope is the truth of who you are. You went your entire life thinking that one man was your father. You had no questions about it at all until 2 months ago you received a text from a woman claiming that she's the girlfriend of your real biological father and that threw your world into a tizzy where now you are having to figure out who it is, what's going on, get questions answered, questions get answers. And I know this has been a lot for you. 2 months of trying to figure out what is true, what is not. Well, your truth is in that envelope and it's your truth to open, not mine. So good luck.
I mean, up until 2 months ago, I had a completely normal life, you know, one dad, one mom. But I guess, I have to find out. I'm nervous.

Tamara, Roderick is your biological father.
[APPLAUSE] [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Thank you.
Yeah.
Here you go, son. Here you go. How you both feeling in this moment?
Feeling great.
Yeah?
Yeah.
How are you feeling?
A little shocked, but I look so much like my other sister that it's not that shocking.
Yeah, got it, got it. I will tell you this, if I can give you just some advice. I wanna let you know that though this is a happy moment, you're gonna go through some stages. You're going to have some anger at your mother. You're gonna have to grieve truths and relationships. You're going to feel joyful that you've met other people while also feeling sad because you're gonna feel like you have to lose other people. I'm preparing you with that information because you're young, you're 22, and I know that sometimes these are gonna come. And I also want you to hear that, to know that she's gonna go through these things, that she's gonna need you now as her biological father. To pick her up when people say, "You know what, I can't deal with this," or when she gets angry, or when she gets happy, or when she's confused. What I'm gonna tell you is allow yourself to feel every one of those moments. Don't try to rush over them. If you feel angry, don't try to be like, "Oh no, no, I got— I can't be angry." Feel the anger. If you're feeling sad and as you're grieving, feel the grief. If you're feeling confused of why people are rejecting you or why people are accepting you, you. Feel every emotion. It's the clearest path to get to the happiest life you want, okay? I just want to give you that advice, but I'm so happy you have your answers. I'm sorry that 2 months ago your world got turned upside down, but sometimes that happens at a certain point, and we feel like, why now? And clearly, this is some reason you needed this in your life right now. And we might not know the reason now, but later on— I, if I can just share the story, we had a recent a story similar to this where the girl was 22, and this is not your story, I'm not wishing on you, but later on there was a health scare and if she did not have the information about who her biological family was, she would've never been able to get the help that she got. So we don't know why this happened, but there's a bigger purpose. So I'm glad you two have each other.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, you're so welcome. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] One last question for you, Tamara. What does this mean now for the father who raised you?
It doesn't change anything. He's been there the whole time. And even when I first met Roderick, I made it clear to him that, I mean, I have a father that raised me, but I am very open to a relationship with him.
Good, good, good, good, good, good, good, good.
She got two dads now.
She got two dads now, exactly. Great attitude to have. Well, listen, thank you both for sharing that. For sharing your story with us. I'm glad you got your truth. I'm glad you got your truth. On my show, I unlock phones, and now I wanna unlock your best self. You need someone to talk to who will listen and give real advice with no judgment. That's what Karamo AI does.
