All right everyone, welcome.
My next guest says that he was devastated when his best friend of 20 years ruined his relationship. He says he shared a secret about his girlfriend that he only told her. Cedric says he can't trust her anymore and nothing will change that. Help me welcome Cedric to the show. How you doing?
How you doing?
So I gotta know from your point of view, what caused you to drop your 20-year relationship with your best friend?
It really hurt me because everything that After 20 years, me telling her any and everything, nothing has ever gotten out. This one thing got out and it ruined a relationship that I really saw something with, ruined my friendship with her, and frankly, I'm just devastated. I can't even function correctly.
What did you say about your ex that made her wanna break up with you?
I made a joke. I wanted to go out with her one night. She didn't wanna go out. I felt as though she was acting childish, and my best friend in confidence, I told her I'm getting sick of her acting childish. I said, put her across my knee, spank her like a baby, put a pamper on her, and put her in a corner. That's what I said. But that was just a childish joke on my end.
Wow. So do you really think that your girlfriend broke up with you, or ex-girlfriend broke up with you over just a joke?
Yes, yes I do.
Were there any other issues?
We had certain issues. We were trying to work things out.
So have you had, Problems with past relationships?
No, sir. In my lifetime, I've only broken up with one person before.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
How many people have broken up with you though?
I'd say about 20.
Okay. You gotta listen to get the facts, okay? 'Cause people will tell you what they wanna hear. So is there anybody else that you confide in other than C?
Nope.
Yes.
No, sir. Not anyone. C has been the only one there that I trusted enough to tell anything to. I don't really trust anyone anymore, to be frank.
I'm hearing the pattern, anger, isolation, you're feeling sad. I'm hearing a lot of things that's going on. You've lost trust issues. I hear it, but there's something else going on here and that's what I gotta figure out. So I think it's time for us to hear your best friend's side of the story. So let's go ahead and bring Cee to the show to hear her side.
Tell these people what's really the problem about your drinking habit, bro. Let's talk about your drinking habit, bro. I know for a fact I am not I am not the only person you told that to. Ced, do you forget about when you call people 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 o'clock in the morning talking about nonsense, bro?
You.
No, sir.
You.
No, sir. No, sir. Out of all these years, bro, everything you have literally told me, you know you never heard it back.
Never. Never. That's why I'm worried about this morning.
Especially, let's put this out here, this friend you're talking about, I hooked you up with her.
You did?
So why would I go back and say something to her about what you say to me?
That's a damn good question.
Out this brother, okay? You wanted me to leave my job? Something that's paying my bills, taking care of me and my folks? No, I'm not gonna do that.
To straighten it out?
To straighten it out? So, Steve, I wanna know from you, what did he say to you when he called you to confront you about this?
I'm so upset and believe, I said I don't remember nothing. I wasn't trying to hear it.
I know exactly what I said. I told you I'm pissed off and I don't fuck with you no more is what I said.
That's exactly what you said. That's exactly, so, and then what, but what did I do? What did I do as a friend?
You came by that American Express, I told you to get outta my yard.
And you did.
But for you to sit up here, and I guarantee you, whoever this person that called and told you this, have they ever paid your bill?
No.
Have they ever brought you cigarettes? Have they ever brought you beer?
No, they haven't.
Have they ever done anything for you, bro?
It doesn't matter if they did or didn't. You were there and you were supposed to be the one to hold these secrets.
See, I wanna know, how do you feel that he accused you?
He just called me with it, you see what I'm saying? He called me with the confusion. I'm lost, I'm busting out in tears, crying and stuff, brought all these, and I'm not understanding what—
'Cause it's 20 years.
Yes.
20 years.
Why in the world You don't just sit up here and jeopardize something I linked you up with, brother.
Did you tell anyone anything that he said?
No.
I would like to know how it got out.
Obviously you got drunk one night and you called and told somebody. You around somebody running your mouth.
You don't know nothing. You're the only one that be around.
How many people have you lost in your lifetime due to your drinking? That's why I'm the only one here with you.
But you know the reason I do drink, right? Because I confided in you and told you that.
Have you two ever had issues before in the past?
No.
Nope.
No.
Not one?
No, this is what make it so crazy.
So then how has this affected you?
Especially with females though.
'Cause I can see the anger, but how's this affected you else in your relationship? Me personally?
Oh man, I ain't been feeling right myself, you know what I'm saying? I'm crying and all that other type stuff. You supposed to be able to lean and talk to your friend.
I ain't got nobody to talk to.
If that's how you feel then, bruh, if you wanna take it and throw it away then I guess that's what it is.
I don't want to.
Me neither.
I mean, I miss you. Don't get me wrong. I'm telling you I didn't do it. What you gonna do about this trust?
You're the one got the trust issues, not me.
Exactly, because you broke the trust.
I can't break nothing I never did, Cedric.
So do you think that Cedric has issues in his relationships? Of course.
Yes. His own people don't fool with him. He know that. He'll tell you. Tell him that.
Tell him that.
Are you close with your family?
Your own people.
Why are you not close with your family?
I'd rather not get into that because that's another issue that really affects me. I feel as though I'm treated as an outsider. But she accepted all of that. She didn't care nothing about that. She been there for me, thick, thin, hell, high water, you name it, she been there. I'm trying to figure out why would she do this and hurt me like this?
Why do you think that she would tell your secret?
I don't know.
But you have to have some reasoning in your mind. Because if you go from 20 years 20+ years of friendship where you've been close, she's kept everything. So then why do you think now that things have changed?
I do not know. But it's breaking my heart. I need to understand if this one person who I trusted out of everyone left in this world did this to me, why would she break my heart like that?
Do you think you have an issue with alcohol?
I may, I may do. I may do. With my drinking is I deal with so much with family, family, and now with this, that's my only coping mechanism that I got left. I go to work every day. I get up, I go to work.
I'm gonna tell you this, just because you're able to function in your life doesn't mean that alcohol isn't causing a problem in your life. And the reason I ask you this is because do you think it's possible, since you have said that you do drink a lot, that you could have told somebody when you were drunk? Yes.
I doubt it.
I said it for him.
I doubt it.
Yes. Why do you doubt it? Because I'm looking at the behavior and I'm seeing what happens. I'm hearing the pattern of 20 years, no secrets ever been told. And then I'm hearing like, oh well, all of a sudden out the blue, she knows. And I'm like, hold on, something is not right here. And the only thing that I can go to is this alcoholism. So do you think there's a possibility you could have told somebody?
I really don't.
You brought up the thing of him making calls in the middle of the night.
Yeah, yeah, yes, plenty of times. Another thing, he know this as well, there's two things I hate. I hate to be lied to and I hate to be lied on.
Yes, okay.
Now I hate that with a passion. Don't lie to me and do not lie on me.
I know this about her, yes.
And then there's another thing he know I don't like, fake people. If you gonna be fake, stay away from me. Stay away from me. One way, period, that's all I can understand.
You said Cedric has called people in the middle of the night. Has that happened before?
Yes.
Okay.
Yes, yes.
I mean, I admit that myself, you know.
And when you're drunk, you're making those calls. So do you remember exactly what you say each time?
Not all the time.
Do you remember calling my production staff in the middle of the night several times? And so, 'cause I've been, I have two voicemails. Apparently you called my production drunk 6 times on Saturday, and I wanna listen to what you said. What?
Hey, this is Cedric. I need you to call me back at your earliest convenience. I'm losing it over here, and I just thought about something else. So if you could, call me back.
So, okay, we have another one.
This is Cedric, Robert Karamo Greenwood. Give me a call back. I met you early in the evening.
Okay.
Okay, the reason I'm bringing that up is because I'm hearing the patterns. That's why I was going through your patterns and your behavior. And when you do stuff like that and you're in a drunken state at 3:00 AM, 2:00 AM and you're calling people, you don't always know what you say. So can we look at these unhealthy behaviors that we have up here? All right, the drinking habits, the lack of trust, alienating friends when he has a girlfriend, I did not know until my producers told me that anytime you get into a relationship, you alienate your friends. Is that something that happens, C?
Yes.
Why do you think you alienate your friends?
You done did it to me before.
I don't try to alienate 'em when I get with someone. I'm trying to show them that I'm going to be with them. Okay. Although I make them aware that I have a friend. Now I've had a couple of girlfriends that have had an issue with my best friend being a girl. But my last girlfriend asked me, said, "You gonna have to choose between me and C." And she'll tell you what I told her. Baby, you can kick rocks. I choose C. Yeah.
All right, so this is the thing. I actually do think that this relationship can be salvaged, but what I think needs to happen right now, the truth bomb that you about to receive from me, is that the alcoholism, your drinking issue, is what's causing paranoia, of why you think that your friend has said something. I'm gonna tell you right now, I would bet that C had nothing to do with telling your girlfriend. I'm just telling you that.
Thanks, thank you, thanks.
It's very rare from a relationship to go from 20 years of trust, trust, trust, trust, trust. I've shown you, I've been there, I've shown up for you, to all of a sudden to switch. That doesn't seem like the pattern of behavior even from meeting you right now. But what does seem like pattern behavior that I can track is the lack of trust, the paranoia. These things are direct results from your drinking. And hearing you call my producers at 2 o'clock in the morning, 3 o'clock in the morning, I do believe there is a chance that you could have shared with somebody else outside of Cee the things that you said. Fact. Fact. What I need you to do is recognize the unhealthy behavior and how You could have participated in the demise of your own relationship.
I can, I'd say it's plausible.
It's plausible? Yeah. Well, in that plausibility, you need to be able to look at C and say, I still trust you. Because I'm telling you right now, I can see the pain in your eyes that you truly don't wanna give up a 20-year relationship with someone who's been there. So don't be stubborn in this moment. Neither do I. Because what's gonna happen right now, you hear your friend saying she doesn't wanna lose you. Don't be stubborn. Because of the alcoholism. That's the demon of the beer. That's the demon of the liquor that is holding you back and making you feel like, "I'm gonna throw something away." So I would encourage you right now, look at your friend and say, "I am sorry that I accused you. And even no matter what has happened, I think we can work this out." Can you do that right now?
Yeah.
But don't lie on me. Don't let the alcoholism— I told y'all, I don't deal with fakeness now. I don't deal with fakeness. Gotta be open here. Gotta be open. Gotta be open. 'Cause you said you were crying over this too, so— Most definitely. Don't let the drinking win in this moment. Don't let the drinking sabotage your relationship. Look at your friend. Speak from your heart.
I'm sorry, Sid, and I miss you. I really am. I hope we can get past this and get back to where we was, but I miss my friend.
We gonna be all right.
We gonna be all right.
I would never do that to you, man. That's breaking the bro code. I stick to it.
We gonna be all right.
Man, we ain't doing it.
What you gotta do is you gotta remember, as you move forward past this show, there's something in your behavior, which I'm sure is being stemmed from the alcoholism, that is stopping you from having good and healthy relationships. You just have a ride or die right here.
Thanks.
I knew it. I knew it.
I knew it.
Thanks. You can truly have more ride or dies, and you deserve it. You deserve to have more people in your life. But for you to get to that place, you gotta start healing whatever pain you are holding inside. Because what happens is that at middle of the night, your demons come out and you start calling people. And that's your subconscious saying to you, "I wanna let out, I wanna talk about this." But you're too afraid when you're not drunk. Am I right? It's all right to say yes.
Yeah, you, yeah.
It's all right.
Yes, sir.
I know, I know it is. Yes, sir. We can see the patterns. Can you say today, I commit to making a choice to have a healthier life by talking to people about why I drink? I'm not telling you to stop drinking 'cause I know that's not gonna happen overnight. What I'm telling you is say, I'm gonna commit to talking to people about what I'm experiencing so that I can maybe stop drinking.
I can commit to that.
Perfect. Can you commit to supporting him now?
Most definitely. Most definitely.
Y'all gonna be all right. Hold on, where you going? I'll tell you where you're going. Right here to subscribe and right here to watch more. Period.
