Did My Best Friend Steal $100 From Me? | KARAMO

In this episode of Karamo’s talk‑show, long‑time friends Sherry and LaTosha (also called Latasha) confront a dispute that erupted during Sherry’s birthday weekend. LaTosha accuses Sherry of stealing $100 from her purse, a claim Sherry vehemently denies, stating she has called LaTosha over 20 times without response. The tension escalates as both women recount their 30‑year friendship, past arguments, and recent personal stresses (divorce, mental health). Karamo brings Sherry onto the stage for a polygraph (lie detector) test, which clears her of all three questions about taking, knowing, or going through the money. LaTosha, after hearing the results, apologizes and expresses deep remorse, reaffirming her love for Sherry. The episode also features Sherry’s daughter Cara, who worries about the conflict and hopes her mother is innocent. Throughout, Karamo mediates, highlighting patterns of disrespect (e.g., being late) and urging the friends to recognize growth opportunities, communicate openly, and rebuild trust. The show ends with both parties agreeing to have a real conversation and work toward a healthier friendship.

So Sherry was shocked when her best friend of 30 years accused her of stealing. She's here to take a lie detector test and prove her innocence. Let's meet Sherry and hear her side of the story. Everyone, welcome Sherry to the show. Thank you for being here, love.
Thank you.
So why did your friend accuse you of stealing $100?
That's a good question.
Yeah.
Because I would never steal anything from anybody. This happened a few weeks ago.
Yes.
I wanna get to the bottom of it. I have called her and called her and called her. She refuses to take my call. She sends me to voicemail.
And let me get something straight. This was your birthday weekend.
It was.
Your birthday weekend. So y'all are having a good time and then she texts you accusing you of going through her purse and stealing $100.
On the day of my birthday.
Yes, it's a $50, $100 bill. Girl, no.
Girl, no.
I seen it early yesterday when we were out. And y'all been friends for 30 years?
Over 30 years.
Over 30 years.
Insane. So that's why I had to ask, for you to help me help her.
So how many times have you been calling her?
I've called her over 20 times.
20 times.
And she's put me to voicemail and I wanna know why we even gotta go through this.
Why don't you think she won't pick up?
'Cause she moving funny. When we normally chatting it up, we chopping it up, we talking, and now all of a sudden—
'Cause 30 years of friendship for $100, It's, yeah, something ain't computing.
Sorry.
Yeah, no, you can listen. It is. All right, come on. Have you two argued before?
Of course, we've had our arguments over 30 years, but $100 is petty.
Yes, okay. So why is this argument different? What do you think is happening here?
That's why I'm here. She needs to answer for that because it doesn't make any sense. Since.
Agreed. Since the accusations, have you and LaTosha spoken at all?
No.
And did you take the money? I gotta ask you directly. I gotta ask you directly.
No.
You did not. Okay. You know, we just gotta make sure, you know what I mean?
I mean, come on.
Yeah. Because what's interesting is your birthday weekend, so.
I got cash, I mean, coming to me.
Yeah, usually on your birthday weekend, people are giving you like the little gifts and stuff.
You getting your gifts, you getting, Your birthday cake, which she provided for me. I love her, but this is dirty.
Oh yeah, okay. Well, let's meet Latasha and hear her side of the story. So everyone, welcome Latasha to the show.
She's smiling.
She is smiling.
Dirty?
Wow, that's a new one though.
No, come on now. 30 years and you bring me here for this?
Yes, I did.
Why?
Why am I going to voicemail?
Because you have been moving different for a minute. So I'm like, why?
Okay, why?
I'm gonna be honest with you. I was not ready to talk to you at that point. Like, I needed a minute. I mean, I need a minute. This is the first time I have said— Oh, by the way, hi, Karamo.
Hi, how are you, love?
Hi.
So this is the first time y'all—
This is the first time I've actually talked to her and I've seen her since we've been out. Because after all that, that I had planned for her, like, you know what? I had a whole weekend planned for her. I had went, first I went outta my way to reserve the Airbnb for the weekend. Then turned around and had my friend make up all this personalized stuff for her, got her a cake and do all this stuff. And 'cause we haven't been able to connect 'cause life has been lifin'. She's been going through some stuff, she's going through her divorce and stuff, I'm going through some stuff. And so I'm like, this is a time for us to be able to reconnect. I had the whole weekend planned out. The first part that pissed me off was, okay, you knew what time we were leaving.
First of all.
On Friday.
We've been friends for 30 years. You know I'm going to be late.
But we had dinner reservations. I'm gonna be late.
How did you make this trip special? There was a gift my producers told me.
So the first gift, when I say my friend had turned around and made me special.
Y'all already had the gifts on stage?
Oh, okay. Wait, man, listen.
See, you know we be doing some things. We be doing some things.
So I had her her own personalized chips, her own personalized water.
You be like, this is like—
All her things.
You put a face on it?
Let me see that.
Everything. You know what I'm saying? So cute.
So that way— You know what I'm saying?
This is an adorable idea. I was appreciative of all of that. Oh, it says birthday nutrition facts.
I couldn't say it.
I was appreciative of all of that.
Birthday's a new start, a time to pursue new goals, have confidence and courage in moving ahead. This is sweet.
I was trying. I was trying to make it special. Sherri, wait a minute. We got Karamo some chips though.
Oh, yes.
What? What?
What?
What? You got your own though, but you know what I'm saying? You get the point. You know what I'm saying? We couldn't come all the way from the Buckeye State and not bring you something.
Because you deserve the best, y'all. Y'all do deserve the best. Hold on, let me go find out who the best friend of Karamo is.
Now y'all see why she's my best friend.
Yeah, it's very tough.
I go over and beyond for the one friend. First off, I don't deal with too many women. But this one.
So when did you realize the $100 was missing?
Okay, so let me tell you. Oh God. Okay, let's go back.
Yeah.
Okay, so we had a whole weekend planned. We were supposed to go to dinner on Friday.
What that got to do with the $100?
Hold on, because this is how—
What they got to do with the accusation?
Because we was together the whole weekend. It was me and you everywhere we went. It was me and you. So that's why I figured like, okay, she had the most access to me.
But did I not tell you that my bank card went missing too on this same trip?
I heard it, but I didn't hear it until after I sent you the message.
So when did you actually realize that it was missing?
It was— We got back Sunday, probably like Sunday night or Monday morning. And so that's when I sent her the message. I'm like, I know she didn't do that. I didn't think it was like something malicious or something like that. Access.
Access. So you think that she took it because she had access to it?
Yeah.
I wouldn't take the money.
She had the most access to me. Everywhere we went throughout that weekend, it was just me and her.
Yeah. If you find out that she did take the money, will you forgive her?
I don't know. I'm not gonna throw 30 years away for it. Yeah. But I'm gonna be pissed. And trust is big for me. And me and her have always had trust and communication. We've always been able to be able to—
I can't tell it. Ain't no trust.
Well, no, because you—
Trust I can't tell. Because you've been moving funny. Why am I moving funny though?
Hold on.
We got a ping. And Sherry, it's from your daughter, Cara.
I was so excited for my mom to go on this birthday trip. But when she got back, she was so upset. Her best friend, who I call Miss Tasha, is accusing her of stealing money. Now here's the thing, and I hate to say this, my mom has not been herself, so she very well could have stolen this money, and that upsets me. They've been friends for way, just way too long to be fighting over $100. I need them to figure this out. I pray and I hope that my mom did not steal this money.
Okay. So it sounds like she's taking LaTosha's side.
She know she been moving funny. She live with her.
She taking her side.
Okay, first of all, let me say this. Let me say this. My daughter is my best friend outside of her. And the fact that she would even think that I would steal anything from anybody, It's probably hurting me more than what you did, 'cause you hurt me.
You hurt me more.
But that right there, that right there, I just want the results.
Here you go. Sherry, you reached out to this show because you wanted to prove your innocence, correct?
Yes.
And you took a lie detector test.
I did.
Oh, wow.
Well, listen, I think it's time that we go ahead and just get to these results.
Let's see that. Let's see it.
All right, here we go. Oh, wow. We asked you, Sherry, did you steal any money from that purse? And you said no. And Sherry, you're telling the truth.
Of course I am. Of course I am.
I'm sorry.
We also said, Sherry, do you know for sure what happened to the money? You said no. And Sherry, You were telling the truth. Oh my God. The final question we asked was, did you go through that purse? And you said no. And Sherri, you were telling the truth.
Of course I am.
Of course I am.
Of course I am.
Don't go.
Kiss.
Don't go.
She's hurt.
She is, but I was hurt too because I went through, literally planned the weekend. We were supposed to go to the beach and take pictures. The whole mood was draining. And then she wanted to leave the next day. I'm like, why you wanna leave the next day? I just paid all this money. Bought all this food and stuff, this liquor and stuff for us for the weekend. And that's why I felt like she was being selfish. She was being, you know, inconsiderate. And I really planned for a whole weekend for us to be able to get our, get back to where we were. Because we have been going through so much. And I just wanted that time for us to love on each other and be able to kind of reconnect and everything.
Makes sense. Sherry, thank you for coming back out here. I appreciate that. Is there anything that you wanna say to her now that we know?
The fact that I'm still hearing words like inconsiderate, man, I'm good.
The actions was inconsiderate for the weekend.
Well, before we do that about the weekend, I think it's important that we address To the fact that Sherri has been vindicated, she has been cleared. She did not take any money from your purse. She does not know who took any money from your purse. And so I think an apology is definitely—
You know what? I will own that. I will definitely own that because you took away that little bit of doubt that I still kind of, I wasn't sure, but I'm like, I know that's my girl. You know what I'm saying? She know if she needed something, she had asked me and I would give it to her. So Sherri, for that, I am deeply, deeply sorry. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. You know I love you with all my heart. With everything in me. We done rode and died. We done did some things.
We did just some things.
You know what I'm saying? So. This is my girlfriend.
I'm gonna tell you this though. I do recognize something in this 30-year friendship that I do believe needs to happen. I think that there needs to be a shift. Because I think that there's old patterns and I think sometimes we forget this in relationships that you can get stuck in patterns of like, Oh, I do this, you do that. I'm like this, I'm like that. And we just assume that because you know I'm like this or I'm gonna do that, that it's just part of the nature. And I think we forget that in friendships we should be growing. And I'm gonna give you one example. For instance, when you say things like, "You know I'm always late." What you're saying is, "It's okay that I disrespect your time." I'm sorry for that. And I think that's important for us to understand that at some point you gotta be challenging that growth. Because if you're not challenging that growth, things that are hurtful, like your daughter saying that she takes a side, can come about because what happens is that people start to say, well, that's just who they are. They're gonna be disrespectful to my time, so what else could they be disrespectful to? And these are moments where we have to say, okay, I gotta be better for this friendship. Because if I really love you and respect you for 30 years, then I wanna be considerate of all you do for me as the same that I'm gonna make sure you, for you because you both keep saying the other person is moving funny. And when I hear someone say they moving funny and moving funny, it means that your souls are both telling you that growth needs to happen and y'all are not talking about the areas y'all need to grow in. That's true. And I think y'all need to have a real conversation about what that growth is. The better y'all can get aligned with who you are both now and the things where you two need to grow is the more that you all can support each other in seeing new paths to having a better tomorrow. That's good. And that's the truth.
That's good.
Because I wanna keep this friendship 100 going forward, okay?
Okay.
All right? Are y'all gonna really leave here and have a good conversation?
We need to. We need to. Okay. We definitely need to.
I'm gonna give y'all $100 so y'all can go get some food or something and y'all have a good conversation, okay? Listen, everyone, make sure to come back next time, friends, so we can keep talking and growing. I love you all.
