Did My Own Family STEAL $3K From Me!? | KARAMO

In this episode of KARAMO, host Karamo interviews Wynter, who reports that her prized designer handbag and $3,000 in cash vanished simultaneously. She suspects either her father Tommy or her fiancé Parrish, both of whom were present in the house at the time. The conversation explores the circumstances of the theft, the prior argument between Wynter and her father, and the long‑standing, strained relationship stemming from her mother’s death when Wynter was six. Wynter recounts her attempts to confront both men, their denials, and the filing of a police report. To resolve the dispute, Karamo administers lie‑detector tests to Tommy and Parrish; both tests return negative, clearing them of the accusations. The episode then shifts to a mediation segment where Karamo reflects on the deeper trust issues, the emotional fallout for each party, and encourages rebuilding family bonds. The narrative concludes with apologies, expressions of relief, and a call for ongoing trust‑building between Wynter and her father.

My guest Winter says her prized designer bag and $3,000 in cash were stolen and she thinks the thief was either her fiancé or her father. Both men have taken lie detector tests to unlock the truth. Let's meet Winter to hear her side of the story. Okay, you look cute. You look cute. You look great. Nice to meet you. I like this little jean jumper. Thank you so much. And the accents of gold, okay. Yeah. Okay, so you got style. 'Cause when somebody say they got a designer bag, you might be like, "Uh, it might not be." But this makes sense. 'Cause I see you got style and taste. Okay, got it. So what happened to your designer bag and the money went missing?
Yes.
Both at the same time?
Simultaneously. Basically me and my dad got in an argument the day before my purse went missing. And I woke up the next morning, I got a routine where I go get some coffee. So I jump in my car, go get some coffee, It's time to pay for it.
Oh yeah, you be doing that.
And as I go pay for it, next thing I know, my money's not there. So then, you know, I reach back for my purse 'cause maybe it's in my purse. Maybe I just didn't put it there. My purse is missing. Who took my purse? Who took my money? Where is everything at?
Because y'all got into a big argument the day before?
The day before.
Okay, and what were y'all arguing about?
I don't even remember the argument. It was, I don't even remember, but I know it was intense.
But it was enough that you don't trust him?
It was enough, yes, where it, caused me to not trust him and become very paranoid about my items. And the thing is, that purse meant a lot to me.
This the designer bag?
Yes, that's the designer bag. And I went to Paris to get that bag. So it meant a lot to me because I traveled so far to get it. So for it to just be taken away like that, and I have no idea who took it, it just always have left some type of eerie air, you know?
Yeah, of course. Did you confront him?
Of course, of course I did.
What'd he say?
He said he didn't do it.
Did this destroy your relationship?
Of course it did because at the end of the day, how can I trust you? How can I be vulnerable around you?
You know?
Got it, makes sense. What was your relationship like in the past with your dad?
It was amicable. You know, me and my dad formed a relationship when I turned about 18 to 20.
Oh, so there was no real relationship before that?
Well, he wanted a relationship, but he just wasn't in a position to have the relationship that he wanted with me and he didn't have custody of me.
So when did you reconnect with him?
When I was about 20 years old.
20 years old.
My mom passed away when I was 6. So that kind of put a wedge in me and his relationship.
Got it. And how's your relationship now?
Well, right now—
Did this happen a year ago?
This happened about 2 years ago.
About a year or 2, maybe so. Don't get me wrong. But our relationship is, it's not the most consistent. I don't feel like I could fully trust him to have a relationship with that, that I would want with him. That's why we're here today.
Who else was in your house when your things were stolen?
My fiancé.
Okay. And so did your fiancé have anything to do with it?
So I don't believe that he has something to do with it. However, he was willing to take a lie detector test for me to prove that he didn't do it either.
Oh, okay. Did you file a police report?
I sure did.
You did, you filed a police report? Okay then, great. So we gave them both lie detectors. What would we do if one of 'em fails?
I would be devastated because that would basically affect me with my relationships for the rest of my life. How would I be able to regain and trust anybody again around my items if someone so close to me had taken something from me like that?
I hear you, I hear you. Well, we'll get to those results a little later, but first I wanna meet your father Tommy and hear his side of the story. So everyone welcome Tommy to the show. Tommy, thank you for being here, sir. Did you steal your daughter's expensive handbag? No. Did you steal your daughter's money?
Nope.
Not either, okay. And how do you feel about being accused?
For her to accuse me like that, it hurt me, sent me to a state of depression.
You moved out?
Yeah, in so many words that you could feel the energy was very negative.
Yes.
And I had to get away.
Got it.
Why would you let any situation come between us? Even if it's an argument, why wouldn't you think about the time when I wasn't in your life so therefore you can make sure we had healthy, happy memories? Why would you allow something to happen, even an argument? Why would you allow these things to happen?
Actually, let's get this straight. I'm a very positive person. When you call me a deadbeat sperm donor or whatever, you cross them boundaries, I'm gonna hold my ground. I don't let nothing bother me, but one thing you gonna do, you gonna respect me 'cause I'm your father and you don't know what I went through. I gave up selling computer products to take care of you.
Okay.
And in return, oh, oh, in return, you don't disrespect me after I said that.
Fatherhood doesn't stop though. That's the one thing I can say that bothers me about you. You don't take accountability for what went wrong.
No, because you accused me of something I had nothing to do with.
But guess what you said to me?
And I showed you lawyers.
You said you take a lie detector test. That's why we here.
Yeah, we gonna do it.
So if you didn't do it, guess what? That's why, we didn't do it. It'll help us form a better relationship.
So Tommy, you said that you didn't steal the money and the bag. Do you think her fiancé did?
No, for the longest time I tell Wenda, do not leave your bag in that car. Do not leave your bag in the car. On many occasions, she left her bag in that car and no disrespect to her, she got what she deserved. I ain't do it. And the truth will set us free.
Absolutely.
Okay. Well, Wenda's fiancé Parrish was also there when Her things were stolen. Let's meet Parrish and hear his side of the story.
Come on out, man. How you doing?
How you doing?
How you doing?
How you doing, Karamo?
Nice to meet you.
Yeah, this has been an ongoing thing. The energy between them two has always been like this and we just need to get it right.
So did you steal Wynter's bag of money?
No, I did not steal the bag.
Do you think her father did?
Little small inconsistencies, I would say. You know what I mean?
Inconsistencies in what way?
Little small, little, Small little lies, I would say.
Okay, like what type of lies?
I would say just drinking some of the liquor, you know what I mean? If there's a bottle in the house, see it drop a little bit lower.
And then he lied about it?
Just little white lies.
Okay.
We shouldn't need to be lying about.
Does Winter bring up this theft almost every day?
Yes.
She brings it up very often and only when we have heated discussions.
And how did you feel when she accused you? I feel like him.
I feel very untrustworthy.
I don't think that Parrish took my purse. It's just because the purse just disappeared overnight, I don't know who did it.
Well, I think it's time to unlock the truth. My examiners ask 2 questions each. Parrish, we got yours first.
Oh, let's do it.
My examiner asks 2 questions. Number 1, Wynter, you want to know if Parrish stole your designer bag. He said no. And the truth is, Parrish did not steal your designer bag.
You know, you're doing all right.
Wynter, you want to know if Parrish stole any of the $3,000 that went missing from your car. He said no. And the truth is, Paris did not steal any of that money.
Thank you.
How does that feel to be vindicated?
I feel good.
How does it feel for you?
Feels great. Feels like a weight lifted off of me.
Well, Tommy, you're next.
That's right.
We asked you the same questions. Our examiner. Winter wanted to know if you, Tommy, stole her designer bag. You said no. And the truth is Tommy did not steal your designer bag. Hold on, we have more. We have more. Winter, you also want to know if Tommy stole any of the $3,000 that went missing from your car? He said no. And the truth is Tommy did not steal any of your money either.
Wow, that is crazy.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Tommy, how do you feel in this moment?
Well, I always feel positivity. That's my daughter regardless of what, and the truth will set us free, but that's mine.
Okay, well.
And I still love her now.
Well, I wanna say, I wanna say I'm sorry that I accused you of doing that. Like I said, we just got in a heated argument the night before, so I just always didn't know the answer. So to know you guys didn't do it means we can continue growing our loving family.
Well, we unlocked the truth to prove that your father did not steal your designer bag, but the accusations have left Tommie holding the bag of distrust.
Absolutely.
But the thing is, is that you've also been holding that bag of distrust for years. And I'm gonna tell you something because though we're here for that, I would not do my job if I could not recognize that there was a deeper issue here. There is a part of where you feel like you did the best you could with the tools you had. And I feel that does need to be acknowledged. I know how hard it probably was for you to lose her mother.
I went crazy.
I'm sure.
Well, no, Mr. Karamo, when they took my daughter from me, 9 years I fought for her. I cut the neighbor's clothes. 5 years I took care of her.
I know.
Sell computer parts. And they took and they stole her from me. And I can understand that. And it still bothers me now.
And I understand that. And so even though you let her know, listen, I fought for you, that doesn't heal the distrust or inconsistencies she's had.
Yeah.
So I'm gonna encourage you because I know you love your daughter and I know you want this family unit to be strong. When she tells you I have inconsistencies or I don't trust something, you have to say to her, I will do whatever I can can to rebuild that trust instead of saying, "I was there." You're gonna have to allow him, now that he's been sober, to show you that he can do those things. And when those feelings pop up where you feel inconsistency or you feel distrust, you have to try to give him the respect to show him that he can actually prove it to you. Because if you don't, then you're always gonna go backwards. Give your daughter a hug. Give your daughter a hug.
Come on, come on, come on. I'm fine, I'm fine. You don't need to do that. You know I did that. It's okay.
