Imagine getting this message out of the blue that says, "I think you are my son." Well, that is exactly what happened to Jeremy. Take a look at what he had to say.
I was shocked when I received a message from a woman by the name of Dolores who was claiming to be my mother. Didn't really know how to respond. I am 39 years old and I was raised by my Aunt Faye. Growing up, I would say that I had a good childhood. And my aunt did the best that she could with my upbringing. When I was very young, about 8 or so, I remember my Aunt Faye coming to me and letting me know that I had received a letter from my mom. I was only 8 years old at the time, and, uh, I wasn't too concerned with listening to Aunt Faye read the letter so much as I was going outside and playing. It's been 39 years Very nearly 40. I definitely want to make sure that Dolores is, in fact, Dolores, that she isn't someone who's trying to scam me. She's a stranger to me. I want to know whether or not Dolores is, in fact, my mother.
Well, listen, Dolores and Jeremy are here to solve this mystery. So let's meet Dolores so we can hear her side of the story. Please welcome Dolores to the show. Thank you, Karamo. Dolores, when you were watching that, you were getting really emotional. What was making you emotional?
The feelings. It's been 39 years and I've been searching and this is the first time I've seen him.
Oh, wow.
I have never seen him since he was 6 months old.
Wow. So why do you believe that that could be your long-lost son?
Throughout all my times of searching, And here last year, I looked up the name again, Jeremy Hastings Bill, and he responded back to me. And I asked him some questions and the questions were all right. Everything I asked him, it came back. And I told him, I do believe you're my son.
Yeah, wow. So let's go back so everyone knows your journey to get here. You told my producers that you were a teen mom What was that like for you growing up?
Oh, I grew up in a very bad situation, very abusive situations growing up my whole life. Got into drugs at the age of 12. Started shooting up crystal meth at 12 years old, running the streets.
Oh baby.
So when I went to California Youth Authorities for 2 and a half years, and when I got released, I just left California and I went to Phoenix, and that's where I met Dave. So when we got pregnant, all I can tell myself is this was my chance in life to get off of the drugs. This was my chance to do everything correct. And I don't know, it just, it's so emotional. I just can't think of everything.
Yeah, no, of course, of course. Tell me about the last time you saw Jeremy.
He was like 6 months old. Dave and I, we lived in Las Vegas. He was very abusive. He beat me all the time, especially when he drank. And so when Jeremy was about 6 months, we got into a fight this weekend and our boss, his daughter was taken off to LA. So I went with her. It was the biggest mistake of my life.
Why do you say that was the biggest mistake?
I became a crackhead.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, got it. And that one weekend put you on a new path.
That one weekend took 20-something years to get out of.
Wow, wow. Well, thank God you got out of it though. Thank God you got out of it. Thank God you got out of it. So what happened when you came back to the house?
When they came to Los Angeles and they left me there, they came to pick her up.
Yeah.
I don't even remember her name. I go, where's she at? And he goes, two guys and a baby came to pick her up. And he goes, the guy with the baby said, leave that fat bitch here. And they left me. He took my baby and every time I tried to call, nobody would call. After about 6 months, numbers got changed. I was already a crackhead. I didn't have no way to get to Las Vegas to look for my son. I didn't have no phone numbers to get in contact, so I just went deeper into my hole.
Yeah, of course, yeah. Any contact with his father after that day?
Never.
Never, ever again?
Not one word.
Wow, not one word. So what went through your mind when he confirmed that he was the Jeremy that you're looking for?
Oh, I almost dropped to the floor.
Yeah.
When I got the message back. When I asked him certain questions and then he answered back. I told him, "I think you might be my son." And I just started crying. I told my sister, 'cause she was there, "I think I found Jeremy." My mom, I told her, "I think I found Jeremy." My mother started crying. She's like, "No way." Yeah, wow.
Your maiden name, "I think you are my son." Was your maiden name Yelly or something like that? Yes, OMG, wow. Yeah. So do you have any photos of Jeremy when he was a baby?
No, we had a fire, so we lost completely everything.
Everything. Got it.
The house went down to the ground.
So we have some photos of Jeremy. Can I see those photos?
Oh my—
He looks very happy.
Oh my God, he's so handsome.
Oh my goodness. Look at that.
Oh. Look at how beautiful.
And how long ago was it that these message When was the last text sent that he replied?
Last year.
Last year. So the last time Dolores saw her son, he was 6 months old. Now 39 years later, please welcome Dolores' potential son, Jeremy, to the show. Hi, how you doing?
Good to meet you.
Good to meet you as well. Thank you for being here.
Absolutely.
So Dolores, what's going through your mind right now?
I'm scared. I'm scared.
Jeremy, what about you?
I'm curious.
Jeremy, you told my producers that you're concerned that Dolores is trying to scam you.
In this day and age, it's something that I think everyone needs to be concerned about. It's very easy for you to get information especially very sensitive, valuable information. So it's always better to be safe than sorry, as my Aunt Faye would say.
Yeah. Yeah.
She did a good job. She did a good job.
Jeremy, what was it like growing up?
I'd say it was a lot of fun. Aunt Faye did the absolute best that she could do for me.
Yeah.
There I am dressed as Raiden from Mortal Kombat. She always pushed me. Put the needs of us children before her own wants.
Yeah. Did you ever wonder about your mother?
Every now and again, yes. Uh-huh. But it was more of like the question of, you know, where is this person? Who is this person? So on, so forth.
Yeah. So did you ever try looking for her?
I did not.
You did not look for her. Okay then. Jeremy, what was your relationship like with your father?
I did not know my father. I only got to meet him the one time before he passed away in Vegas.
Okay, got it. And you told my producers that he dropped you at your aunt's house and left you?
Yes. What actually happened there, from my aunt's own words, is he asked Aunt Faye if she would watch me while he borrowed her car, a very nice blue Mustang, and went to San Francisco to get her some money that he owed her. He owed her and never came back.
Yeah.
Now I know that sounds like a sad story. It's not. I had a great childhood and Aunt Faye loved me deeply.
Yeah, makes sense.
Jeremy, do you have some questions for Dolores?
Um, yes, actually 3. Uh, you seem to have already answered the more difficult one though, so I will get into the other 2. What is your family's ethnicity?
I call myself a Heinz 57. I have a little bit of everything.
Works. OK. What's your second question?
My second question is, who signed my name on the birth certificate? Because you guys spelled it wrong. J-A-R-E-M-Y.
It's supposed to be J-E-R-A-M-Y.
Someone made a mistake then, because it's J-A-R-E-M-Y. Jarney.
Jarney. OK. So, Loris, do you have some questions for Jeremy?
I just wanna know, do you blame me?
No, not at all.
That was my biggest fear is that you blamed me.
No, not at all. Maybe when I was like 20 or younger and not fully mature, I may have like had these type of emotions and feelings towards you and my father. But as I've gotten older and understood understood more how the world works and how people are. I get it. I understand.
Sometimes in a way I feel like it's a blessing because your Aunt Faye raised you so well. I think she did a better job than I could have at that time.
So how long ago did your Aunt Faye pass?
She passed away in 2018 to cancer in a house that she built for the people that she loved. Surrounded by those people.
Oh, wow.
We could all be so lucky.
Yeah. So if Dolores is your biological mother, would you want a relationship?
I mean, sure. I don't think it's going to really affect my life going forward, but I'll now know these things and it'll be just one less question that I have to ask.
Yeah. You got it. Well, I think it's time to solve this mystery. Dolores, are you ready?
I'm ready.
Come with me. Dolores, in this envelope is the truth that you've been searching your entire adult life for. You have wanted to know where your son is. You have wanted to connect with him and you finally found someone online that could be him. This is your truth to open, not mine.
Oh, Karamo. I've been waiting 39 years for this.
Yeah.
I missed everything in his life. I missed his first words. I missed his crawling. I missed his school. I missed everything.
Yeah.
And I'm so scared it's gonna say no. Dolores, Jeremy is your biological son.
Jeremy, I know this is a lot to process, but this is your mother.
I'm so sorry. I am so sorry. It's okay.
It's okay.
I'm so sorry.
No, don't be. It's okay. Trust me. My childhood, like I said, was amazing, and I would not trade it for anything.
Thanks.
This is what I'll say to this. Congratulations on your answer. Hearing about Aunt Faye and hearing the woman she was, I do believe sometimes that we have people that are guiding us, that are making sure that we have, and hearing that you lost her, she could never be replaced. She sounds like one of the most amazing women in the world. But what I also hear is a woman that has been doing the work and who has been loving you from afar and who's been trying her best. There's always a piece of us that's struggling children that still want that connection. And so I ask that you realize that waves of emotions are gonna come over you, but I do believe there's a reason for you all connecting. And I believe there's a bond that can be built here. Do you wanna be in his corner?
Oh, of course I do.
If she shows you on your time, would you allow her to be in your corner?
Absolutely.
Ah, well, this is your mother. So congratulations. This is your son. All these years.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome. You're welcome. I wish y'all the best of luck. Congratulations.
