How Many Siblings Do We Really Have?! | Karamo

Essence, Champagne, Xavier, Carletta, and Tashayla discover how many siblings they actually share after their father Brock fathered dozens of children with multiple partners. DNA tests confirm Xavier and Carletta are full siblings to Essence and Champagne, but Tashayla is a cousin. Estimates suggest Brock had between 15 and 25 children total.
Chapters
Champagne and I are our father's oldest children.
We're the originals. We started the crew.
My dad was always in our lives. He was just a little bit of a rolling stone. He was around, but he was always sleeping around.
Our father can have 20 kids out there we don't know about.
But we're here to get the truth about 3.
We learned about Xavier 10 years ago from another family member.
His mother swears his dad is our father. But my dad never claimed him.
He wouldn't talk to Xavier. He wouldn't meet with him, nothing.
Then there's Carletta.
Her mom was coming after our dad for child support.
He denied her too.
3 years ago, our father was tragically murdered. And then a few months ago, we found out about Tashayla.
Our aunt told us she was one of our siblings.
I don't think Tashayla is actually our sister.
Our dad's family is just passing her off to us because they don't want to claim her. And our dad isn't here to deny her.
I don't feel I don't feel the same connection with Tashayla as I feel with everybody else.
Today, we're here to find out the truth.
Are any of these people actually our siblings?
Listen, we'll talk to Champagne and Essence a little later in the show, but first, welcome Tashayla to the show so we can hear her side of the story. How are you doing?
I'm doing really good.
Thank you for being here. Did you know Essence and Champagne had doubts about you?
I didn't know.
You didn't know? No. How does it make you feel hearing that?
I mean, how they feel is valid.
So who did you believe was your father growing up?
My mom's past boyfriend. I've always thought he was my dad. There was just no questions about it.
'Cause he was in your life your entire life? Yes. Yeah, okay then. And how did you find out that your father is someone else?
So my dad, One day he called me and he told me that, "I am not your dad." Wow. So.
Wow. So he's been holding on that for a while.
Yeah, I'm 32 now. So at the time I was 28.
Wow.
So what did your mother have to say about all this?
So she says, "We'll talk about this later," and hung up.
What?
Yeah. I was kind of upset and she didn't want to tell me anything and—
Kinda, girl, you better than me. I would've called her phone so many times.
I didn't know what to do.
I get it, I get it. You was in shock again. But the way I would've called her back, the way I would've hit that number over and over again. How did you get to connect with Essence and Champagne though?
My fiancé, when we got engaged, he was like, "Maybe you should do an ancestry.com. You never know, we find out. Maybe you're from family from overseas." We were laughing about it. Yeah. And so when I did that, I knew about like, my mom's side of family and ancestry, but there was like 29% of an aunt. So I thought, that's weird. I don't know any of these people. And so their aunt messaged me on Ancestry and said, you could possibly be my niece. And so I was like, oh, yeah. So, and they were saying how like, you could possibly be my brother's kid. He had a lot of kids.
Oh wow. So it kind of just all matched up.
Yeah, it just all went together. And then all of a sudden I give her my number and then Essence and Champagne, like Champagne calls me and was like, "Hey, my aunt said that we could possibly be siblings." Yeah. And I said, "Oh, okay." Yeah. And so that's when we started talking and—
And so you didn't know them before any of this?
So I knew Essence and Champagne, we used to work together. Oh.
Yeah.
What?
Yeah, we used to work together.
Have you built any type of relationship with Essence or Champagne?
So the only relationship The only relationship we have is like, we talk like outside of work. But I mean, other than that, like recently we found out that we live literally 5 miles from each other. And that was crazy. Like the whole time we lived so close to each other.
Yeah, you work together, you live close to each other.
Wow.
So why do you want this DNA test?
Because I'm getting married and I really want like, just to know like I have that side of family to be a part of my wedding.
That makes sense to me. Have you met any of the other potential siblings?
So I've met everyone except Xavier. Okay.
Yeah. Got it. Well, it's time for hear from another one of your potential siblings. So everyone please welcome Xavier to the show.
How you doing?
I'm doing good.
Good. Good. How you doing? Good to meet you. Thanks for being here. So who did you grow up believing your father was?
My stepfather.
Yeah, okay then. And how did you first find out that your father was someone else?
Well, one day I was in school, I don't know what it was, I was just thinking like, why is my last name this last name and why are my sister's last name different? So it kind of just, I don't know, it was kind of bothering me. And so when I went home, I asked my mother and she was like, you know what, I was sexually assaulted. When I was in high school. I'm the product of that, you know? So yeah, and my stepfather's been raising me since I was 11 months. Got it. So it was kind of like I didn't know, you know?
Yeah, I have to say, thank you for sharing that and being vulnerable to share that with us. Since Brock can't defend himself because he's passed away, I just need to make it clear that these are just an accusation that has never been proven. Though it's not to take away from your mother's experience, but we have to say I can't say that because we don't know. So how did you first get connected with Champagne and Essence?
So my mom posted a picture of me getting ready. Like they commented, got in connection with my mother and everything. Like, hey, we think this guy is our brother. She's like, well, who's your dad? Essence and Champagne's like, well, we wanna meet him. And so I just love people. So I'm like, yeah.
How old were you when this happened?
Man, I was like 16, 17 years old.
16 or 17. Wow. Did you ever try to meet Brock?
No, I wasn't really just like, interested in it. I have a father.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying?
That's the man who raised you. So that was, yes. So that was what was important to me.
So why do you want this DNA test?
Honestly, because I think it's just interesting to know for sure, like, who we are.
Have you ever met your other potential sibling, Carletta?
Yeah, CeCe.
Yeah, CeCe? Okay then. Well, I think it's time to hear CeCe or Carletta's side of the story. So everyone please welcome Carletta to the show.
CeCe!
How you doing? Nice to meet you. Hey, how are you? Thank you for being here.
Of course, thank you.
So what was your relationship growing up with Brock?
I say it really wasn't a relationship, but when I did like know him when I was little, it was very little.
Got it.
So when was the last time that you saw Brock?
On my 12th birthday.
Okay.
And he brought me a tablet and a piece of chocolate.
Chicken.
I swear to God.
A tablet and a piece of chicken?
Yes, for my 12th birthday. And that's the last time I seen him.
Got it. How did you find out about Essence and Champagne?
They had reached out to my mom on Facebook and she was like, "Yeah, this is my sister and I just wanna make sure." And I was asleep and my mama, she woke me up and was like, "Yeah, this your sister." And I just busted out crying.
How's your relationship with Essence and Champagne now?
We're close. You're right, you're right. We're real close. Essence, she came to my child's birth. She was, yes, and my gender reveal. But yeah, we're real close.
Got it. And were you two close growing up?
No.
No. I just met, I just met since you like—
Yeah, we literally all like met at the same time.
Because of the baby finders, I'm telling you.
Okay.
They are, they are, they are. They're super baby finders.
They are. Yes. And Carletta, why did you want this DNA test?
I really feel like it's important to find out who's your siblings and who's not. 'Cause me growing up, I never knew any of my dad's side of the siblings, like any of 'em. Probably still more to this day. I don't even know how many more it is.
How many more do you all think there is?
I feel like it's about 20 of us.
I feel like—
Might be more.
I feel like there's more than— I mean, when I talked to Champagne and Essence, they were saying how There's like 15 baby mamas and like—
So it gotta be like 20 kids.
It's 20 kids.
20, maybe to 25.
And like probably the youngest be 10.
Well, I think it's finally time to meet, what'd you call 'em, the baby finders?
The baby finders.
The baby finders. So it's time to hear from Essence and Champagne. So everyone please welcome them to the show. Hey baby finders.
We might need a bigger couch.
Okay. Okay. How y'all doing? Thank you for being here. So when did you first realize that your father was having all these other children?
I mean, I don't, we were kind of kids, you know, like I'm the oldest one. So every time my dad would pick us up, he would take us to Lawton with him all the time.
Yeah.
But we would stop somewhere before. So we would always stop at one woman's house and and they have a lot of kids together. And then maybe like, you know, we'll go to a different person's house. So it was very early on like that. Yeah.
So he would just bring y'all around and that's how y'all would find out without any conversation and sort of be like, oh.
Yeah, there's no conversation.
Like, it would just be like, these are siblings.
It's like an unspoken, so.
We were his roll dogs though. So it was just like, I'm finna go and I'm finna take them and he'll probably say like, oh, I'll buy you something. Or we kids, so you know, I'm gonna say this.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then you was going and you're like, oh, surprise. Yeah.
And then I became the babysitter. Of the mystery kids.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
It's really crazy because I'm the oldest out of all of them. And with—
because you didn't know. You didn't know she was older?
I've been the captain of this shit.
Okay.
Okay.
Because you're 32?
And I'll be 33 this month.
Okay, then.
I turned 32 in October. She's 31. She's 33. So we all kind of like—
Yeah, we're 10 months apart. Was your father married when he was having these kids?
No, but he's been with my bonus mom for like since I was a baby, like little. Most of 'em is like before the marriage 'cause they got married way after, like years and years later.
Well, they came kind of like a little bit after us, but they were already in like a relationship. So they weren't married yet. I think they probably been married for like 16 years or something and together over like 20, you know what I'm saying?
Got it. What is this bonus mom? Who's this?
Well, his wife, so she was our provider. She cared for us.
Got it. Do you all have doubts about Tashayla?
Okay, so. Not doubts. Let me, let's.
Let me say something.
Okay, so. 'Cause she just going on.
It's not doubts.
It's not, okay, not doubts. I feel like that it's just like, she was told her dad was somewhere else, which, and again, this is off of what our parents did back in the day. So she was told her dad was somewhere, somewhere else, and then it's like, OK, well, this man is dead, so he can't speak for himself. So it's not really doubts. It's just like—
Me and Champagne, we look exactly alike.
Don't they? OK. See? I'm not agreeing. That's because we're both— We do.
We do.
So even with the glasses, if we both take off our glasses, we look exactly alike.
Champagne, you don't think y'all look alike?
What they get up on the block for?
You just say no.
Y'all don't think y'all looking like Champagne?
Okay, can I listen?
Listen, they resemble one another, yes. Yes.
All right, Champagne, come on.
We literally probably do look alike, but that's because, yeah, we are related. We're 100% related. We just don't know how. So it's just—
We just don't know how. Essence and Champagne, just let me know right this. I already have a sense, but why is it important for you to have all these DNA tests done?
I'm a family person, so I don't know, I just feel like it's important for us to have a connection. What our parents did when we were children, we can't control that, but we can control what we do now, you know?
So keeping us together. That's it, that's it, that's it. Well, are you all ready to find out the DNA truth? Yep. Well, Essence and Champagne, come with me. So in these envelopes are the DNA truth that will let us know if these three individuals are your biological siblings. This is your truth to open, not mine. So here you go.
Before we open it, I do wanna say a couple things. Carletta and Xavier, since day one, you know, it's always been us. Like, y'all my siblings. Like, y'all know how I am. Like, I'm mama bear. Like, my house is open to y'all. Like, if you need anything, kids, no matter what. So this isn't gonna change anything for us. We're always gonna be there for y'all. Like, I always want y'all to call. Like, you know, Doesn't matter. So we're still gonna be connected. To Shayla, it's the same thing. So it's either you're gaining two sisters or you're gaining two friends. But either way it go, we're gonna be there for you. Like, you know, like—
Thank you.
We're gonna be there for you. Don't let this change anything 'cause it won't change anything on my end.
But—
Y'all ready?
I'm ready.
Say it to me too.
Y'all ready?
All right, first one. All right.
Oh, come on. We just said it.
Carletta.
Carletta is your biological son.
I knew that.
I knew that.
I knew that.
Do it.
Number 2. All right.
Just read it.
Okay, Tashayla is not your biological sister.
Oh wow. Okay.
Okay.
So that means that these could potentially be your cousins then because by ancestry you all are related.
Are related, yeah.
You said your father had a brother?
Yeah, he has two brothers.
Two brothers.
Two big brothers.
Are these brothers still alive?
Yeah.
Yeah, of course. Have you met them?
No.
You have not met them. Are you all able to put her in contact with these two men?
Probably not.
Okay, that's not true. I can put her in contact with whoever she needs to be put in contact to.
Because I mean, at the end of the day, Ancestry has confirmed that you are related.
Yes.
There is somebody for that to pop up, so. You do deserve to know which one of these men is your father. So any information you can give, we will support you on that. Yeah. Xavier, you ready for this?
Xavier is your biological brother.
Oh! We knew it! We knew it! We knew it!
We knew it! We knew it!
It's been literally 10 years.
Yeah, 10 years. You know. I'm just happy that you all have got an answer. There's a lot of love in this room. Family. Though your father made choices that wasn't in the best interest of you all as the children, you all have found each other. You have made the best of it. You have supported each other. So congratulations to that. I'm glad you have your answers. Thank you for trusting us with your story. I'm here to support you in any way we can before your wedding. All right? I'm here for you.
