Mom Left Us Homeless & Said I'm Dead To Her! | KARAMO

In this episode of Karamo’s talk‑show, Karamo mediates a heated family dispute involving a mother (Speaker B), her daughter Lay, and Lay’s partner Faheem. The mother claims she only kicked Faheem out of the house, while Lay insists her mother forced them out and has been verbally abusive, even calling her “dead to me.” The conflict escalated to a physical altercation that resulted in Lay’s brief jail time, accusations of cheating, scams, and neglect, and a breakdown of communication that has lasted since May. Lay reports distrust, emotional trauma, and financial strain, while the mother argues she loves her grandchildren and feels disrespected. Faheem joins to explain his perspective, describing himself as supportive and accusing the mother of manipulation and controlling behavior. Karamo repeatedly asks clarifying questions, highlights the pattern of crossed boundaries, and offers advice: set firm boundaries, avoid mirroring toxic behavior, seek external support, and recognize that both mother and daughter are not currently in a space to fully reconcile. The episode ends with Karamo encouraging Lay to focus on healing and motherhood while acknowledging the deep‑seated, cyclical nature of the family’s toxicity.

Why did you have to kick Lay and Fahim out of your home?
I didn't kick my daughter out. I kicked her baby father out.
Okay.
She decided to disrespect me and leave herself.
Okay.
She said evil, hurtful things to me, but she the one brought me into it. I drove all the way to Georgia to get my daughter because Fahim and her family was not being there for my daughter. Fahim was letting my granddaughter cry, all kind of things. So I had a talk with my daughter. I told her, don't let nothing come in between us. I told her before he came, this was gonna happen. They fighting in the home. He lied to my daughter. He cheats on my daughter. Oh, wow. He does scams. All kind of stuff. And then like if I'm putting y'all two back together and you seeing my daughter being disrespectful, why you keep her away from her family?
Got it. So my producer said you feel like he's sabotaging the relationship between you and your daughter.
Yeah.
So he's the issue between you two?
Yeah, this the longest we been not talking.
And how long has it been since you last talked?
May.
May, okay. Have you seen your grandkids? Not to interrupt you. Have you seen your grandkids? So you haven't seen your grandkids since May, you haven't talked to her?
No.
So, okay, so it's like you've lost all, like your daughter and your grandkids.
Beautiful, she got beautiful kids. I love my daughter like with all my heart, she like that.
Were you two ever close?
Yeah.
Like at some point?
We was, but now I told her, I told her it's like she's dead to me.
Oh. Did you say that to her or is this something that you just saying right now 'cause you felt that way?
No, I said that to her.
You did?
Yes.
And how long ago was that?
I said it in a text message.
How long ago?
Like a month ago.
Okay, wow, okay, so this is recent. So the emotions and everything, I know y'all haven't seen each other since May, you haven't seen the grandkids, and then with this text, the emotions are high between you all.
Yeah, I'm upset because I would never hurt her kids, she knows this.
Yes.
My daughter really know I love her, but she just doing it, she plays on my emotions. She say I'm drama. Because I'm ready to do anything and everybody that's coming for her or any of my kids.
Yeah, okay. In the intro, I said that she went to jail for fighting with you. What was that about?
She was fighting me. She hit me. I caught her phone.
Oh, she literally physically hit you?
Yeah, with a cell phone.
With a cell phone?
Mm-hmm.
Okay, did you hit her back?
No, I was pushing her back. That's why I didn't go to jail.
Got it.
It was about another boy.
It was about a boy that she was dating?
Yeah, it's always about something else. It's never— Just our issues.
Do you think if Vahim was out of the picture that you two would have a better relationship?
Yeah.
I think it's time to welcome your daughter Lay to the show so we can hear her side of this story. So everyone please welcome Lay to the show. Hello Lay, how are you doing? Thank you for being here.
Thank you.
How did you feel when your mom kicked you outta the house?
Hurt.
Yeah.
You know, it was fucked up of what you did to me and my kids. And you gonna just sit here and lie about what you did?
I never kicked you out. I kicked Fahim out. You know that.
You did.
Well, what are all these lies about?
Everything that she just said was a lie.
Okay, like what?
Basically talking about that—
You look beautiful, by the way. They're not.
So, okay, just tell me this. Just tell me this then, because I know it's been a long time and I can see some emotion. I'm assuming you're still feeling overwhelmed. How do you feel about seeing your mom today for the first time?
I didn't want to even see her.
You didn't?
I don't trust her at all.
You don't trust her?
She said some hurtful things to me. I can't trust her. She said, "Fuck you and my kids." No. I told her not to even come get me. I changed my mind 'cause me and Fahim was going through a situation.
Yeah, what situation?
I was living in Georgia.
No, what situation? What situation though?
Basically, my daughter, he wasn't really, he's a new father, so he didn't really know how to deal with her.
The heart ain't new. He know how to deal with you and your ass.
So he's not an attentive father?
He is.
Attentive to who?
He is attentive.
To who?
My kids.
Yeah, now. That's why I came all the way back to here.
It sounds like you're protecting him.
I'm not. She is.
He's gotten better. I could give him that. He's gotten better with my kids.
Since he left outta the house.
See, this is what I'm talking about. She always got something to talk about with me and my relationship.
'Cause she brought me like—
How is the new child? How is the new baby?
She brought me to where— She's 1 year old. 1 year old.
Okay. So you said you don't trust your mom.
I don't.
When do you stop trusting her?
And why? 'Cause you know I—
What do you mean, and why?
And why? 'Cause I kicked him out.
You're spiteful and you're disrespectful.
'Cause I kicked him out?
No, you're disrespectful.
You called him a bitch and fighting him in my house.
With all of our siblings, she always trying to turn me and my siblings against each other. This is what she do. She always in our business. She always try to like play both sides.
So why did you go to jail when you fought with your mom?
'Cause she lied and said that I stole her money.
Okay, 'cause earlier you said—
And she found it, she put her money in the Bible.
So 'cause earlier you said that you hit her, that you hit her with the phone. Did that happen?
No, I didn't hit her with the phone, I hit her with my fist.
You hit her with your fist?
Yes.
Okay.
I did.
But I still be there for her, you see what I'm saying? And I be there for you by doing this.
Just recently, she just put us out, ma'am.
No, ain't no us 'cause I wouldn't do that to my grandkids.
She wasn't working. Me and Fahim was the only one provided in the house. Oh, shit. I didn't even have to provide for her kids. I'm buying her kids food, bought my brother some shoes, stuff that a sibling would do.
So everyone, please welcome Faheem to the show so we can get his side of the story. Hey Faheem, so you called the show?
Yeah, I did call the show.
Okay, and what was your hope in calling the show?
I wanted to get their relationship down, but basically—
You wanted to be somebody to mend things?
You wanted to mend their relationship?
I had things unsaid that I needed to say towards her.
What do you mean unsaid?
I know I couldn't say it in front of her, and I know what you do. We watch your show every night.
Thank you, thank you.
I appreciate it.
So why do you feel like Leigh doesn't trust her mother?
Because it's the things that she do. It's like wishy-washy. Like one minute she wanna be this way and then one minute she this way. And I feel like—
Give an example. Ain't no dissing. Way, that way. Give these people example then.
She want to be like, oh, y'all good together, but when I piss her off, oh, he ain't good.
How you piss me off?
How you piss me off? She say I don't help. How I don't help when me and her the only one putting, putting, uh, paying these bills and doing everything in the house?
Groceries in the house? You ladies doing TikTok videos while we working.
Out of her bills? Like, you sitting up doing TikTok videos while we working, going everywhere, but we not doing nothing.
When I first came to Texas, before I came, before I came, she said, she said, Fahim, when you come here, I want you, I want you to pay this, I want you to do this. I said, no problem, you feel me? So when I came down here, I got me a job like my first week that I was out there. Okay, I paid every bill, anything she asked me. I never been disrespectful. Look, We ain't get to that point yet. I ain't never disrespected her, never called her out her name, never cussed at her, never tried to give her anything, never.
I didn't say that. I never said he did that.
So why do you think she kicked you out the house then?
I don't know. I really don't know, 'cause I never did nothing.
That's to piss me off.
So I felt that since she being disrespectful, it's 'cause of him.
'Cause earlier you said, I didn't kick her out because of that.
I didn't kick her out, I kicked him out.
I kicked him out. But you kicked him out, but you just said because of her behavior.
Yes, she was disrespectful.
She know I'm about to put her up on there.
I never said something about him. She disrespected me.
What do you want to happen today?
When they fight, I just want her to let her know that I ain't dealing with her no more.
So for you, you want today to be the end of your relationship?
I never did care about him. I'm not about to cheat. Or me, you ain't care about me.
What do you want today? So what are you hoping today? What do you hope to happen today? You want the end of the relationship or you hope, you wanna end it?
End it.
Leave me alone. No more emails.
But why do you think her, my granddaughter and my grandson, the dog at my house?
Can I say one thing?
If it's so, end.
Can I say one thing?
'Cause you're not there.
Why?
Can I say one thing?
You're not there.
Her mom feel like that I control her actions. I don't tell her, I don't control nothing that she do.
You can't get your ass out of my house.
As fucking this way towards her mom, that's the way she acts towards her mom.
Lacey's agreeing to that. She doesn't think you're controlling her behavior.
You can't do nothing.
But she saying, oh, I'm the reason why she, you know, I'm saying, sabotaged me.
Why did you need to come here today to end the relationship?
Because like, I ain't never, I ain't never disrespected, I ain't never disrespected her mom.
Ain't nobody—
she don't want to see me happy, she don't want to see me happy with nobody.
She want me to be under her bitch ass. Daughter.
She obsessed. She want to swap destinies with her daughter.
That's what she want to do. That's exactly what she said to me.
She said, you'll never have my daughter. I'mma have her to myself. She mine. Like, out of here. She a baby. She 25.
Out of here.
What do you want today?
What would you—
what the hell is you talking about?
She want to ruin my life and she not going to try It's never gonna get done.
Not arguing, none of that shit.
I'm talking about, we arguing every day.
You stirring shit up.
I ain't stirring shit up.
That's what it is. I should have been at your ass though. Like she said.
Why you mad about arguing?
Why you mad about arguing? You was doing your shit and I was doing mine. You was pushing shit up and all that shit. I bet. I'm gonna have you step out.
Bitch, you ain't— You're not nobody else's T1. You step back this way, please, for me. I'm gonna have you step back this way. Thank you so much for being here, both of y'all. Thank you so much. Lay, can you step right here? Take a seat back. You don't have to be closed off. No, you don't have to apologize. You don't have to apologize. The reason I dismissed them is because unfortunately you are in the middle of this. And as a young mother, I'm sure this is causing you a lot of distress.
It is.
And so I see a lot of what is happening here. What's making you emotional right now?
'Cause I do want a relationship with her, but she just—
I know, I know, I know.
And she the only one I got besides Faheem and my kids.
Got it, I know.
That's the reason why I came down here, but I didn't want to come at first.
Got it, got it. I can tell.
You know, we got this. Like love-hate relationship.
Yeah. And I can tell it's from a lot of how she parented you young.
Yeah.
Boundaries were crossed in your opinion.
Definitely.
You felt like there was not an equal amount of respect.
Yeah.
I could tell. And it was confusing because she was also then supportive at times and loving at times.
Yeah.
And so you were caught in this relationship with your mother where one moment you felt like, okay, she's a mom, she's gonna be there. And the next moment you felt like, why are you doing this to me?
Yeah.
I got it, I got it.
You saying all these hurtful things and you want a relationship with me and my kids.
Yeah.
But you tearing it apart.
Yeah, I got that.
And it's hurting me and I gotta be there for my kids mentally, so. I just set boundaries.
Yeah. I mean, you already know that you've said some things back.
I did.
You've said some horrible things back.
Yeah. Yeah.
I know. The reason I bring that up is because unfortunately the relationship with you all is gonna take a lot of time to mend. And I don't think your mom is in a space to mend it. No, she's not. Yeah, and I actually don't think unfortunately you're in a space to fully mend it either. I can tell based on like the way that y'all have been interacting, especially since it's been 3 months since y'all last saw each other that you haven't even processed all of this. The thing that I wanna encourage you to do is continue to set these boundaries. But within these boundaries, I need you to break the cycle, meaning, However she reacts, you can't mirror that. My advice for you and is my encouragement to you is to be better than that.
Yeah.
You're young, you're 24, and you can be better than this. I had a similar relationship with my own father where it was toxic and I mimicked that behavior. And then my son came around and I had to decide to stop mirroring that behavior and start to figure out how to set my boundaries and heal so that he doesn't do the same. So the advice I'm giving you is a journey that I had to go on because otherwise you're gonna be in this cycle forever. The last piece of advice I give to you is don't allow Fahim, I know that he's the only support you have right now, but he can't keep getting involved in this because from what you said outta your own mouth, he has some behaviors that I don't think you deserve either. The sad part is that None of y'all are in a space on this stage for me to actually try to help you to find a resolution. But individually with you, because you are stuck in the middle of all this, I'm gonna give you your flowers. You're holding it well. You're holding it well. But I wanna get you some support so you have somebody else to talk to.
Okay.
Okay?
Thank you.
I really do wish you the best of luck. Just keep focusing on being a great mom and trying to heal yourself. Okay.
