In this episode of KARAMO, host Karamo mediates a heated confrontation between a mother (Speaker B), her daughter Alexis, and a sibling (Speaker C). The conflict dates back to the daughter’s early teens (around age 12) and involves a pattern of alleged dishonesty, runaway behavior, legal trouble (court filings, juvenile detention, a knife incident), and emotional abuse, including accusations that the mother wishes the daughter to die of cancer. The mother describes chronic household chaos, long work hours, and feeling overwhelmed, while Alexis claims she never said she hoped her mother would die, only that her mother is a “horrible mom.” Speaker C adds grievances about being sent to school with bullies and feeling disrespected. Karamo repeatedly seeks clarification, highlights the breakdown in communication, and asks each party to identify when the relationship deteriorated, aiming to de‑escalate tension and encourage reflection.

How do you feel about Alexis? How do you feel about what she just said?
I don't like Alexis. For one, she's lying. She know why.
Well, I wanna start from the beginning. You said you don't like Alexis?
No, I don't like her ways. Her ways at all.
Okay, that's clarification. Because to say I don't like her.
Yeah, I don't like her ways.
Ways, okay. So tell me more.
Yeah, when she was in her teenage ages, she used to put holes in my walls, sneak out the house, go be with boys, I had to go file unruly with the cops and the court. We went to court, she went to juvenile. Didn't stay long, she used to pull knives out. That last case, I the one got her off of it. Nobody else, because they was gonna put her away. But I helped her, but she just used to always yelling and screaming. Then she told me a week ago, I hope you die with cancer. I did not.
I'm going through my own stuff.
I did not say that, I said, I said, "Mom, you are a horrible mom to me." We got into, it was the altercation. I said, "You are a horrible mom to me." And I said, "That's why you got cancer now." I never said, "I hope you die from cancer." That's what I said. It's not the same thing.
But you're not gonna sit up here and disrespect me though.
Mama, you feel like everything is a disrespect. You're grown, you need to be on your own. You asked to come here for 2 weeks, but you're still in my home. And you don't understand that I came back for you. But you put me through all these years. I didn't do anything, Mama, what you got against me? Yes, you did. You helped me run away doing what you wanted to do. Oh my God, you gonna talk about me? 'Cause you kicked me out. You right, you right. You kicked me out, you told me get out, and then you like, oh, you gonna call the cops and you run away. You can't do that.
You know why.
You cannot do that.
I've been at work with kids taking me through drama and hell.
Mama, that's not drama. When DSS is called 'cause you sent me to school with bullies.
Yeah, 'cause you keep going to DSS.
No, I did not.
You sent me to school with bullies. Quit lying, Alexus. Mama, why are you lying?
You thinking you're the only person that's right?
That's not fair. You have to listen to other people.
That's not fair.
I will tell you both this. I can see the breakdown of communication. I can also see the chaos and I can also see the pain. But is this the way there's always chaos in the house?
Yeah.
It's always like this?
Even when she was in her teenage years, it's always been a mess.
So then I'm gonna ask you, if you felt like there's always this mess, always this chaos, for you, why did you ask her to come home when you were sick?
No, she asked me, could she come home? She'll just be there for 2 weeks. 2 weeks still, she's here, she's still there now.
Okay. Did you appreciate it when she came home?
Yes, but when she started her little drama again, I can't take all that because I'm already going through enough and what I'm going through, I can't be stressed.
Okay.
When I go to work and come home, all I wanna do is sleep, but she wanna yell in the house and all that. I work 16 hours a day.
Mama, wasn't nobody yelling in the house. You came out your room and jumped in something that had nothing to do with you. I was having a dispute with my sister.
I know you moved there with the intentions of being there for your mom.
Yes.
So if it's chaotic like this, why haven't you moved yet?
I have not moved because my twin sisters asked me. That was like Alexis. I was about to leave. They said, "Hey Alexis, please stay.
We need you to stay." And I said, "Okay, I'll stay for my sisters." Okay, I'm gonna ask you both a question and I want you both, neither of you to respond to each other. When do you feel like the problem started between you and your mom?
From the age of like in my preteens, I was 12 and on up.
12. And for you, when do you feel like there was the breakdown in y'all's relationship?
When she was in her teenage years.
12.
12. 12, 13.
Y'all both acknowledge. What happened at 12 from your opinion as a mother that said like, something's going on here?
'Cause it was always something. She would run away and don't come home for days. I would have to go, like I said, go file unruly. We go to court, they tell her what she need to do. When we get outta court, she gonna go right back doing the same old thing she went to court for.
