My Man Got Me AND My Ex-BFF Pregnant! | KARAMO

In this episode of KARAMO, host Karamo mediates a heated conversation between Lakielyn, her boyfriend Maurice, and an anonymous ex‑best‑friend voice about a tangled web of infidelity and simultaneous pregnancies. Lakielyn discovers Maurice’s affair with her former best friend after snooping through his phone, leading to a confrontation where Maurice admits he slept with the ex‑best‑friend and claims a history with her. Both women are pregnant—Lakielyn’s due in July and the ex‑best‑friend’s in November—while Maurice reveals he already has six children. The dialogue spirals through accusations, emotional outbursts, and questions of responsibility. Karamo shifts from probing the facts to offering therapeutic advice, highlighting abandonment issues, the need for self‑work, and the importance of not defining self‑worth through a partner. He stresses that both parents must heal individually to avoid harming their children, and he encourages co‑parenting plans while urging each party to stop projecting their pain onto one another. The episode ends with a brief, anonymized message from the ex‑best‑friend and a final call for continued dialogue and personal growth.

So girl. Yeah. Girl.
Girl.
Man, messy story.
That's your best friend.
Yep, my best friend.
She not your best friend no more.
Hell no.
Better not be. So how did you find your boyfriend when she wasn't your best friend?
Okay, so it was just one day, everything was going all good. I decided to go through his phone. I don't know, I don't usually go through his phone, but I decided to that one day. So I went through him and her messages. I saw them talking explicitly.
Well, how did you react when you found out they were having an affair?
Man, I started fighting him out his sleep, you know what I'm saying? I ain't gonna lie.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He woke up having to fight for his life.
Yes.
Yeah.
He woke up, we started arguing, everything. Arguing bad, really bad.
Yeah, really bad. I'm sorry it had to get to that place because like, first of all, they both trifling, but like, just like, just end it. Don't, you know what I mean? Let's just end the relationship, you know? End the relationship. Like in that moment, if you really weren't that happy with me and you really felt my best friend was better, just end it.
That's what I'm saying.
Like, that's what I'm saying. Like you could have broke up with me, anything.
Yeah. So when did you find out you were pregnant?
Maybe like July, I believe.
Yeah, okay then. And when did you find out that she was pregnant with his child?
In November. We had just came from my ultrasound appointment and he was just like, you gonna have to deal with it. So I'm like, I gotta deal with what? What the fuck I gotta deal with? I don't have to deal with shit if I don't want to. So yeah, so he didn't say nothing. So I was like, you got somebody else pregnant, didn't you? He still didn't say nothing. So I was like, is it my ex-best friend? He didn't say nothing. So I just started crying. I started crying real bad. He was yelling at me saying, why the fuck you crying? Why the fuck you crying? So yeah, I just, I wouldn't stop.
So you were pregnant and he's yelling at you because he got another woman pregnant?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, I was so upset, so hurt. I just couldn't stop crying.
Mm-hmm.
Okay. Did you hear how that sound? You were pregnant and he was yelling at you?
It sounds horrible. It was fucking horrible.
Because I know you just said that you still attached to him.
Yeah.
Okay.
Why?
Okay.
I'm sorry, I just—
'Cause I know you don't talk to her, but you still talking to him.
Yeah.
What's going on?
We got a baby together. I don't wanna be a single parent.
Would you rather be a disrespected parent?
No.
I mean, 'cause everybody always says they don't wanna be a single parent, but like when you remove the single, then put another adjective there.
And I feel like I—
And the adjective is the behavior that is being displayed in your relationship. And I think people forget to do that. What's the other adjective you wanna be? Because if you don't fill in that blank, he gonna fill it in.
And I feel like I don't wanna be alone.
You know, before I judge Maurice, 'cause I do need to hear his side of the story, I wanna talk to Maurice. Let's bring Maurice out and hear what he got to say about this.
That's how we doing it though. That's how we doing it.
What? You ain't really. That's how we doing it though.
Well, I really knew your you.
I don't go to school.
I don't. And that's how you doing it though. Come on, man. That's that.
You should have broke up with me.
Still before new. Before waiting for you. Waiting for you.
You should have broke up with me. Should have broke up with me before you slept with me.
Oh, you ain't. You ain't tell him, huh?
No, I told him.
You ain't tell him, huh?
No, you tell him no because when you found out you was talking to the dude and he brought the Okay, but I didn't sleep with him.
That's why I turned around and did that.
My best friend pregnant. What the fuck is he talking about? Like, what? Is you cool?
You got it.
So did I just hear you say that because a guy bought her something from the store, you thought that the equal and best measure was to sleep with her best friend?
Well, I just feel like I'm grown and I can do what I want.
Okay.
Okay, but you still should have broke up with me.
So, well, out of all the women that you could have talked to, Why the best friend though?
Because of history. We had, we was like friends. We was together all the time. We had pictures too. And when she came, when she came back around, that just brought everything back, you know, back to life in my history.
Why you ain't get with her before you got with me?
So when you said that—
For one, actually, I wasn't even talking to you when I was talking to her during the time it was happening.
Okay, but that was back then.
And we just was getting back on good terms.
Okay, no, no, no, no. We was getting back on good terms and you seen the messages.
That was it.
You're lying.
So I wasn't cheating on you with her.
You was.
'Cause we wasn't with each other at the time. We wasn't.
Yes, we was.
No, we wasn't. No, we wasn't.
We was in a relationship.
No, we wasn't. When I was texting her, we was not with each other.
We was in a relationship. When y'all slept with each other, we was in a relationship together. Yes, we was.
I hear you.
You just be lying. That's all you do.
That's all you do is lie. Fuck you.
So why didn't you tell her?
First of all, I don't have to deal with shit.
So why didn't I tell her about—
If I go sleep with your mom, I'm supposed to tell you.
Being pregnant or talking to her?
Yeah, about her both. Well, why didn't you tell her about the relationship? You know, because you just said you just because you're you're you just said I'm a man, so I you know this is what I want to do. So if you're a man, why not be man enough and say listen I'm talking to your best friend? Why didn't you ever discover it?
Because we weren't talking at the time, and I feel like that I wasn't trying to come across as like no we was not talking.
Yes we was because how did I find out? How did I find out?
Well, wasn't we getting back on good terms?
Well, wouldn't y'all be talking because Her best friend is due 2 weeks after you were due, right?
I mean, I'm not really sure how, but I know that we kind of in the same—
Yeah, so it's close.
They're actually 2 months apart.
Okay. Why do you think Lakielyn was talking to this other guy?
I actually seen it in her phone. She used to, before, just even before I started cheating or anything, I used to give her my all. I seen it in her phone. She was moving some type of way with the phone.
Mm-hmm.
And she felt like the guy was trying to follow her and so she gave him her number.
Mm-hmm.
And I felt like, I said, why is the guy, you think he was gonna kidnap you? She said, yeah, he could have kidnapped me. So that makes you give— No, he don't. What happened nowadays? That makes you give your number to him?
Yeah.
No, it don't.
Nowadays, yeah.
No, it don't.
Mm-hmm. Yes, it does. Everybody's saying yeah, so.
So I will tell you this, just for having sisters and also working domestic violence, men are the most erratic and violent creatures on the face of this earth. And what happens is that if a woman is being harassed by a man, sometimes it's easier to appease them. I'm not saying, I don't know the situation, but for you to say that, I don't understand why she give a number. If she's saying, I feel harassed, and the one thing he's asking for, I can give quickly and then move away.
Yeah, but you, but I go on my phone and see messages that you texting a man.
Yeah, engaging more is a problem. But all I said was hey. Engaging more is a problem.
I agree with you. But all I said was hey, and you do all that?
Oh, so you didn't have any other conversation? All you text was hey?
No.
Yeah, 'cause he texted me. What else did I text you?
He was trying to take her out to eat and he was saying he wanted to see her again. I didn't respond to that though. Not no food. She said be trying to hide it from me.
So saying that she could not meet with him like that. I didn't respond to that when he said he'd take me out to eat. I was ignoring him actually.
It was more towards just him asking for it.
But do you—
But ask one more time 'cause I need you to really just like sit in your soul for a second. Just please, just take all your feelings outta the side. Just sit in your soul. You telling me you think talking to somebody over on text and sleeping with somebody's best friend is equal?
No.
Okay, so you can admit that?
Yeah.
That it was overboard?
Yeah.
And reckless?
Yeah.
Okay, thank you. I appreciate you at least giving that because for a while there I thought you was crazy. But at least we know that you got some sense in there. At least, okay. So how do you feel about having both women pregnant at the same time? Because you're a young man and raising 2 children at once is a lot. A lot.
Well, I actually got 4 more kids.
You got more kids, okay. So how many kids do you have total?
6.
6, okay. Do you still talk to her best friend right now?
Just to keep updates on the baby.
Okay. Are you able to support all 6 of the kids?
Yes.
You are?
Yeah.
And are you able to be there emotionally and mentally for all of 'em?
No.
Okay then. So why keep having children?
It comes with sex.
No, it does not.
No?
Many people have sex that don't have children.
I mean, but if you keep constantly doing it and you with this person and together every day, all day.
Do you engage in protecting yourself during sex?
Yeah, but not if we constantly doing it together.
Okay. Do you wanna be in this relationship?
Yes, for us to take care of our child.
Okay, so you just wanna co-parent, that's it?
No, we want to be in a relationship, but—
You wanna be in a relationship?
Yeah. Okay. But if it don't work, we can be co-parenting just to take care of our child.
But you wanna be in a relationship?
Yes.
Okay. I'm getting a ping from Lakielyn's ex-best friend. She didn't want her name or photo revealed, but she had something to say before the show. I wanna take a look at this. He was trying to get with me and that was her boyfriend. I knew better, but at the same time, we knew each other for a long time. Probably why I went for it. We should get past it without any hard girl. Bye. Okay, take that. I don't even know why we get get by with hard feelings. Girl, bye. That's stupid. Okay.
Hard feelings.
Yeah. Um, I'm gonna like betray your trust, nigga.
Get over it. No.
Um, okay. Maybe later on down the line, I think that there's gonna need to be a conversation because your children will be siblings, and so as mothers, you'll have to make sure you put the children's needs first.
I mean, I don't really. want our children to meet, so.
Yeah, they will have to. And because the thing is that eventually they'll resent the two of you for keeping them apart because again, children are— we're not a part of the adults' decisions. And so all they'll know is that you denied me from seeing my sibling and not know why. So we're here to unlock phones. What are we here to find in these phones?
I really don't want to even know what's in her phone.
You don't? Well, you searched before. That's how you found out the guy she said hey to.
We just got into it this morning 'cause you thought I was texting somebody. Because.
I had the phone on my hand and everything. because of the fact of us being around each other during a moment in time. So I don't wanna—
I don't do that to you. You was just texting somebody yesterday.
I was not texting nobody.
You was.
So you think he's texting? You still think he's talking to somebody?
I don't know what he was texting, but I saw him texting somebody.
I was not texting nobody.
But it's the fact that he got mad at me for texting somebody today.
Yeah, because you know she tried to tell me because she said—
That's what I'm saying.
Because I post my girlfriend on Facebook and she said, what if she post her man on Facebook and I'm gonna feel some type of way? I'm not.
But you just said that we're your girlfriend, first of all. This is not no back and forth, tit for tat.
You said because you posted your who?
I posted my girl.
Who?
You posted her?
No.
You have another girl?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Okay, let's unlock this phone.
He said just—
We here to unlock the phone. Let me unlock this phone. Lakielyn, we unlock your phone first? Lakielyn, you refuse to unlock your phone. I already figured this. Let me find out, you refuse to unlock your phone too?
Yeah.
Yeah, I already knew this shit in there, okay. I already knew this. I didn't have to go through this because y'all both playing games. Y'all both are young and immature and you are suffering from abandonment issues and you are scared to face the fact that you're suffering from abandonment issues. And what you gotta do, sister, is do some real self-work on yourself to figure that out. And it's deeper for you. It is deeper for you because there is a child right now that is going to be looking at you consistently on to be a model of how am I supposed to react to this world?
Right.
And the first thing you don't wanna teach this child is that you need somebody to be complete. You gotta do this self-work. You don't need somebody. And I know it's hard because whatever abandonment issues— here, you can take a tissue. Whatever abandonment issues you suffering from, it's hurting you. Somebody didn't give you security and so now you're reaching for that security in people that you shouldn't reach for it from.
Yeah.
You got plenty of time to do this work. But if you don't do this work now, I know what happens to women who have a desire to be with somebody because they're afraid to be by themselves. I know how that turns out in your 30s and your 40s. Oh, and it does not look good. And then somewhere about 43, you gonna wake up and say, I don't need nobody, I got myself. And that's when your life begins. But it could begin now. You don't have to wait for them years to pass.
I just feel like I don't wanna be a single mom again. Like, I feel like I want to be with my child's father.
I know.
I told myself that.
But hear me out, hear me out, hear me out. What you have to do for you is you then have to, if you want that, you have to do the work on yourself to be whole and then you have to pick better men. And the reason you're not picking the right partner is because what you're reflecting out to the world is coming back to you, is that you not healed. So you get men that's not healed. To you, you're not healed. You are young as well. And you as well are running from something. You are trying to find love in people that apparently, I'm assuming you didn't get somewhere from home. This is deeper than I'm just not wearing a condom. This is some self-work you gotta do.
Yeah.
And this is why I asked you, 'cause I wanted to make sure you had sense because you might not have no sense, but I know you have sense. So I know you're aware of your actions and how hurtful they are. I know you're also aware because when I asked you, I said, do you think you can be there emotionally and mentally for these kids? You said no. which lets me know that you have enough discernment to know, damn, I'm not making the best choice right now. But it also lets me know that somewhere in your life, maybe people weren't there for you emotionally and mentally. So abandoning other people in that sense makes you feel like, oh, well, this is natural. This is how it was for me.
Yeah, that's the truth.
It is. I could tell. I know. But it wasn't right. You shouldn't have been abandoned. You 22, you should still have a team around you rallying. I'm sorry that you don't. And so as much as I wanna like beat both y'all up right now, I find this more— I find it more sad right now 'Cause my heart is bleeding for y'all. You're making these choices outta pain, but you've gotta do the work here. The same way I said to her, there's gonna be 6 kids behind you that are gonna be hurting. And the pain you feeling right now, do you want them to feel that pain?
Mm-mm.
I know.
Here you go.
Here you go.
I know. I know. This is bigger than this. This is bigger than this. Y'all got some work to do. Y'all got some work to do separately. And what I want by both of y'all hearing what the other person's going through is the one commitment I ask is that y'all could just say, I'm gonna stop putting my pain on you.
I'm gonna stop putting my pain on you and hurting you.
You wanna say to him, I'm gonna stop putting my pain on you?
I don't believe that.
You don't believe that? Listen, it's a journey. I'm not saying it's gonna change overnight. What I'm trying to do is I'm trying to give y'all some first steps. I've seen many people at your age in the work and the profession I'm in who at this age in a year and a half can change they whole life. But there has to be a desire. And so what I'm hoping by telling y'all this and saying this to y'all is that that desire will come in.
I stick and strive every day, every day and stay strong. Something that can't be broken.
Mm-hmm.
But I'm willing to be here for my child, for all my kids.
Yeah, but what I'm asking you more so right now is for you to be there for yourself. You know? Because the thing is, is that you can be there for the children, but until you're there for yourself, you're gonna keep making the bad decisions. which are inadvertently gonna hurt these kids. And that's what I'm trying to help you to understand, that it is great that you are trying to be strong, that you're trying to do this, but until you heal, until you actually sit with yourself and say, what is it that I gotta heal from?
Mm-hmm.
And be with yourself, you're gonna keep hurting your kids and the people in your lives and hurt yourself. So it's great to say, I wanna be there for them, but you gotta be there for you. It's time for you to show up for yourself in the way that the people, the adults in your life didn't. And I know that's hard to say, but they didn't show up properly.
Mm-mm.
And so you gotta show up for yourself right now. I was that age too. My daddy didn't show up for me properly. And one day I had to look at myself and said, this motherfucker not coming around to save me. So I guess I gotta do the work. Y'all young enough. We can change this, okay? I wish y'all the best of luck, all right? Heal. Heal, all right? Start doing the work. Well, listen, everyone at home, make sure to come back next time, friends, so we can keep talking and growing. I love you all. One thing I always say to y'all is like, I know any of y'all who've been in this audience a lot of times, like, I love having fun on this show, but like, for real, these people mean a lot to me. Like, this is my work. This is what I did. And like, I'm just looking at this and I'm like, these poor babies. 22 and 23, you got 6 kids, you doing this? I'm just like, oh.
