Chapters
I am sick and tired of being stuck in between my two sisters. My sister, Theonde, she swears Rachel's not her sister. And my sister, Rachel, she swears Theonde's not her sister. And bottom line, I believe he's the father to all three of us. They hate each other and drag me into it. They got the nerve to cuss at me. I'm the older sister and they know I don't play around. So them cussing at me is something they need to stop doing. I grew up basically raising Theonde' like she was my own. When I met Rachel, she was about 10 years old, but that doesn't mean she's not my sister. All of us have different moms, but I wanna prove today that we all have the same father.
Listen, we'll meet Rosie shortly, but let's start with her potential sister, Rachel. Welcome Rachel to the show, everybody. Hi, Rachel. Hi.
Hey, Karamo, how are you?
I'm good, thank you. Thank you for being here. You look great.
Thank you. So why do you and Theonde' Y'all tend to not get along? Because she's jealous of me.
Oh, okay.
She always picking fights with me and every single time she do, she tell me that I need to go find my dad and I don't, she, that ain't the case. She the one in question, not me.
Oh, so how do you feel when she says y'all are not sisters and you need to find your dad?
I kind of don't pay it no mind.
Yeah.
Because I know that Emory is my dad. I feel it deep down, but it's just the fact that You throw it up as if you're trying to hurt me and it's like literally a stab in the back.
Got it. Do you believe your sisters?
Yeah.
You do believe your sisters? Okay then, great. When did you two meet?
I met Theonday around 12, 13.
Uh-huh.
We used to see each other all the time at the bus stop and bum cigarettes off of each other.
Oh wow, okay. Was your father Emre in your life before that point?
No, I didn't meet Emre for a long time. I actually got a copy of my birth certificate 'cause I grew up in foster care.
Okay.
So I didn't know anything about my dad's side of the family.
Got it.
So we needed to go outta town and in order to get your state ID, you need your birth certificate and your Social Security card.
Got it.
And when I got it, it listed Emory as my father. But growing up, I always knew another man to be my father.
Got it.
So up until about 13, I didn't know anything about him.
Understood.
Let alone sisters, brothers.
Got it. And you wrote him a letter and he showed up?
Yeah.
Okay, tell me about that.
I got his name, I looked in the white pages of the telephone book and I got his address. I wrote him a letter, I drew him a picture, I sent him a school picture. And about maybe a week later, there was a knock on the door and he basically was like, "I'm Emory, I'm Rachel's dad." And I peek around like, "Oh." And he's like, "I've been looking for you. They wouldn't give me no information." "Thanks for finding me. Thanks for reaching out to me." And we started our relationship from there.
Perfect. Okay then. And what was your relationship like with him after you met him? Was it good?
It was great. He came to my graduation. He bonded with my son. When he was sick, he called me. When he lived outta town, we were in correspondence. Like, I miss him.
Yeah.
Honestly, I do.
Okay then. Has he passed? Yes.
Okay, I'm sorry. He passed away in 2016.
Okay then, got it, got it. Well, I think it's time to hear Theonday's side of the story. So everyone join us remotely. Please welcome Theonday to the show.
[APPLAUSE] Hi.
Theonday, thank you for being here.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you too. So why do you believe Rachel is not your sister?
It goes back and forth 'cause Rosie will tell my sister Rachel, like, you know, Theonday's not dad's. And then Rosie will come to me and be like, "You know, Rachel's not dad." So like she tried to play both sides.
Oh, okay.
She ain't never said that to me.
I could've sworn she said that to you. Mm-mm. 'Cause that's when you came to me and said Rosie said dad wasn't there.
Nope, Rosie say you not dad.
Oh, well see, there you got it.
Okay then.
And another thing, jealous of you of what?
I don't know, you tell me.
Girl, ain't nothing to be jealous about.
Facts. Okay, whatever.
Is it true that you said, "Go find your dad," to Rachel?
I will tell her that.
You do? She do, she do.
Why?
She ain't lying.
Why?
Like I said, Rosie said that she's not ours, right?
Okay, got it, got it. So what was your first impression when you met Rachel?
I can't believe that my dad had a younger daughter.
Okay, so you're a little bit in shock?
Yeah.
I'm the baby.
Were you two ever close?
Before. We still talk every now and again.
Okay then. And who raised you? Was it your father?
My mother and my stepfather raised me.
Your mother and your stepfather, okay.
DeAndre, why you in here?
Why you ain't come?
Because of my daughter.
You make every excuse.
Hold on, time out. You make every excuse. You don't leave your kids with any and everybody.
I don't leave my kids with any and everybody. My daughter be with my mom and you know that. And you know that. And I work, I got an income. I'm not sitting at home on my ass doing nothing.
And you just started a job, correct?
I've always had a job.
When you was sitting on your ass the whole time.
Always had a job.
Girl, bye.
Always had a job. Besides the point. You are irrelevant.
Whatever, you feel that way.
Right.
You feel that way.
You shouldn't be here.
Theonday, lemme ask you this. When did you learn about Emory?
Well, I would hear stories about Rachel, I mean Emory, when him and Rosie was staying, we was staying in Highland Park, when they was throwing me off of the balcony when I was younger. I'm not for sure when they kinda like separated, I found him again when I was 18 and pregnant with my daughter.
Okay then. So you said like when he was throwing you off the balcony, you talking about playfully or like you mean?
They was practicing for a fire drill.
Okay, got it. And then you found him again when you were 18?
Mm-hmm.
Did he sign your birth certificate?
Yes.
Okay. And what did your mom tell you about Emory?
Nothing really.
Got it. So you really didn't have a relationship with him?
Have you seen your birth certificate?
I have seen my birth certificate.
And he's on there?
And he's on there, 100% on there. He was paying child support for me on there.
Okay then.
So if he signed my birth certificate and he signed your birth certificate, why do you question it? And according to him, he's not questioning it or he wouldn't have questioned it.
How does, first of all, how does anybody know if he's really anybody's biological kid just 'cause he signed somebody's birth certificate?
You from Ohio just like I am, right?
Rovi said that he wasn't your dad.
All right. Theonday, did you go to his funeral?
I did.
Okay then. And what was that like for you?
Was it? At first it was just like, don't care at first. And then at the second time it was just like when we all sat and spoke our words, then that's when I kind of broke down a little bit.
Okay, understand. Do you believe Rosie is your sister?
I do.
Okay, you believe Rosie's your sister. But from your point of view, you feel like the whole reason y'all got an issue is 'cause Rosie's in the middle? 'Cause it sound like you saying that Rosie told you that.
She does both sides.
She does both sides. Is that true for you too?
I go to Rosie when I have a problem with Dionday because Dionday seems to listen to Rosie more than she would with anybody else.
Got it, okay then.
First of all, hi Karamo.
Rosie, you look good.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
First of all, both of y'all lying. Both of y'all lying. I never told neither one of y'all that he wasn't y'all's father. I do not know, that's why I called the show. I know for a fact he's my dad. I was there. And with you, Theonde, when you was born, we was right there.
You was there?
I was right there. I helped raise you. And for you, I met you when you was 10. I didn't meet you when you was out there fighting, and if I did, I didn't know who you was. Okay, so let's get all of this straight. I'm 61 years old. I ain't got time for this. [APPLAUSE] That's why I called the show, because I am so hurt, so hurt between y'all arguing all the time and calling me. I don't know who your dad is and your dad is, but I know y'all my sisters. Y'all been in my life all my life.
Sure have, sure have.
And if you ask me, my dad is y'all's dad. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
How do you feel when they put you in the middle of these arguments?
Oh my gosh. I feel so bad because I don't know what to say. You know, all I could tell them is that I really don't know. I really don't know.
Mm-hmm.
You know, but I'm gonna find out because I'm tired of y'all arguing and putting me in it.
I mean, I'm tired of it myself. That's why I'm here. I wanna know the truth.
What was your relationship like with your father?
Oh, I had a beautiful relationship with my dad. I mean, he taught me so many different things because first of all, he wanted a boy. I came out a girl and my dad taught me how to do everything, drive tractor-trailer, drive motorcycles, all of that, so. Okay, man.
Rosie, you said you're 60?
61.
Ooh, you are gorgeous.
Thank you. Thank you, girl. Ain't she? Come on.
Well, Rosie, you reached out to the show to put an end to being in the middle of these two sisters. So I want you to come with me 'cause it's time to get the truth.
Oh my gosh. There you go. Oh my gosh, Karamo, you a snack, you know that? Exactly. Rosie, don't play with me. You a snack too. Can I get the hug? You can get the hug. Oh my gosh.
I'm sorry, y'all. I might have a little crush. I'm sorry, I know we here for the truth.
Don't worry about it, y'all, because I'm not washing these clothes. I'm not doing it and I'm not washing his hand.
Okay.
Karamo, you know what? This right here is what I've been waiting on for so long, ever since February. Yeah.
You know?
And this is the answer to everything right here. So right now I'm feeling, I'm feeling kind of woozy because I love 'em both so much. I love you so much. It's just hurting me. Whatever they say, we gonna always be sisters, love each other regardless. I'm not letting y'all go. It don't matter. So it don't matter. Beyoncé, I love you so much. I love the ground you walk on. Do you hear me? I love you too. I love the ground you walk on. And you know that's a lot of ground in this world. And Rachel, I love you the same. Nothing's going to change, okay? I'mma let you know that now. I love you too. And Theondea, I wish you was here so I can hold you and let you know how much I love you too. I wanted you to be here so much. I wanted you to be here so much. You have your reasons why you're not here, but to me, I didn't think it was good enough.
Hey, I love her.
Because you spoiled your daughter so much, and I would never change that or take that from you. And I'm gonna respect that regardless.
Okay?
Can we open it, please? No matter what these results say, we gonna still be sisters. So you can cut that out. Come on, lady. I'm sorry, everybody. I'm shaking. I'm upset because this is gonna stop. Regardless, this is gonna stop 'cause Karamo gonna help me make it stop.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh, I'm so nervous. Rosie Theande is not your biological sister. Wow, wow, wow.
Sorry, Dionday.
That's okay.
I'm so sorry.
Rosie, Rachel is your biological sister.
Deionde, Deionde, I'm so sorry right now. I'm so sorry. How are you feeling in this moment, Deionde?
I'm okay. I know this is hard. Karamo, what am I supposed to do? She's been in my life all my life and I'ma still love her the same, but— You still love her. I just wish I was there to hold her right now. I wanna be there too. 'Cause she need me so much right now and I know she do. She's sitting there trying to be strong, but she's hurting.
I know.
And I'm hurting for her.
Theonday, I will tell you this. I'm so sorry in this moment and your sister does love you and—
I'm so sorry, Theonday. I'm so sorry, baby. But you are my sister, you're gonna always be my sister, and ain't nothing gonna change that.
Thank you.
Ain't nothing gonna change that. Nothing's going to change. Nothing's going to change. The only way to change is if you make it, but I'm not gonna let you make it. I'm not gonna let you make it change. 'Cause I'm not gonna let it change.
Theondea, I gotta ask you, would your mother have any answers for you of who could potentially be your father?
It was a guy who came to my other sister's house when I was younger and said he was my dad.
Okay. Do you know how to get in contact with him? Do you know his name?
He passed.
He passed, okay. Do you know if he had any siblings, I mean any other children or any siblings?
He does. He does.
I ask you this because if you need support in finding out the truth with him, we're here to help you in any way we can. But also I know you're gonna need some moments to grieve this. I know you're gonna need moments to process this. I wanted to let you know your feelings. If you're angry, if you need moments to step away.
Karamo, that's my sister.
I know.
That's my sister.
I know, I know. But Theonday, I want you to understand that whatever feelings you go through are valid. You get to take your time. You get to have whatever experience you have because this is not something where you feel like you have to feel any sort of way. You get to feel what you need to feel, okay?
Yes.
Richard, is there anything you wanna say to Theonday?
As much as we feud and we fight, sister or not, you still gonna be my sister. I love you and I still wanna, I wanna make our relationship better.
I still do. Y'all go get along from here on out, I don't care.
Yeah.
All this arguing and fighting and stuff, y'all got to stop that. It's ruining me. I'm not getting any younger.
Rosie, I will say this. What I do love is, as a big sister, your passion. I love the support you give them. I think it's beautiful. I will encourage that as Theonday is going through this to give her space, to feel and to go through what she's going through.
She don't need time, she need me.
Listen, DeAndre, we wish you the best of luck. We're here for you. Rosie, thank you for being a great big sister. Thank you for trusting me on this show. Rachel, you got your answers as well. Thank you for your words that you said. I really do wish you all the best of luck. And if there's any support you all need, I'm here for you all, okay? Thank you.
Oh my God, I'm so worried about her right now. I am too.
I'm in shock 'cause I really wanted it to be the total opposite of what it was, and I'm just ready to hurry up and get home so I can go see her and comfort her. 'Cause regardless of all the feuding, the fighting, the back and forth, I still love her, and in my mind, she's still my sister.
LeAnde, I love you so much.
Please don't go out and do nothing stupid. Please, please.
I just want you to keep your head on straight and know that I love you, know that we love you, and that you're still our sister. Just do the right thing because God got you, baby, just like he got us. Just believe and know that things ain't gonna change. I'm your big sister, she's your little sister, and it's gonna stay that way. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE]
