My Sisters Ruined My Wedding Weekend! | KARAMO

In this KARAMO episode, bride‑to‑be Briana recounts a chaotic weekend leading up to her wedding, focusing on a series of conflicts with her sisters April (maid of honor) and Kim (the sister hired to cater). Briana describes how Kim failed to show up for the bachelorette party’s food preparation, leaving her frustrated and repeatedly calling for help. April intervenes aggressively, confronting Briana in front of guests, which escalates tension. The conversation reveals deeper sibling issues: perceived favoritism, blurred lines between family and business (Kim charging for childcare, April feeling undervalued), and long‑standing resentment about support and communication. Host C acts as a mediator, repeatedly prompting the sisters to clarify feelings, acknowledge each other’s perspectives, and consider boundaries. Throughout the dialogue, the participants oscillate between blame, hurt, and a desire for reconciliation, ultimately arriving at a tentative agreement to respect each other’s feelings, set clearer boundaries, and work toward a healthier sisterly relationship before the wedding day.

My sisters April and Kim ruined my wedding plans. My sister Kim was supposed to cater my wedding. The night before my wedding was my bachelorette party. This is when Kim was supposed to come and prep the food. So I'm like waiting, waiting, waiting for her to show up. So I'm like calling her, calling her, calling her over and over. No answer. I'm getting pissed. So she calls and says she's not coming. Hang up. I'm venting about it. I'm, you know, talking about how pissed I am about it. So that's when my sister April got involved. April gets pissed. Because I was talking about it with people in mixed company, April wanted to fight. She was all in my face trying to fight, punching her fist, all standing over me trying to embarrass me in front of all my friends. And I ain't with it. I was ready to go. But the only reason I didn't is because she was pregnant. The night of my bachelorette party, I ended up kicking everybody out. I kicked out the masseuse too. She even had a pregnant lady on the table. They all had to go. April didn't own up to what she did that night. I feel like we've grown enough. Like, this relationship needs to be mended.
It wasn't like me just jumping in her face.
It was—
I felt like she was coming for me. I felt like she was attacking me. I felt like she was on some bridezilla energy. And I just kept kind of being like, but you need to calm down. Like, you need to calm down. We're here. Trying to get stuff ready for you. It's your wedding and it's okay to vent, but all this extra about my sister who's not here to defend herself in front of all these other people, pipe down a bit.
Got it. Got it. Like keep the family business within family.
Period.
Got it. Understand.
Because not gonna talk about my sister while she not here like that.
So what happened at the bachelorette party the night before?
So we all at the wedding, we're all helping her prepare for the wedding. Okay? We're in Texas. It's July, it's hot, I'm pregnant like she said. And you know, we're trying to get everything ready and she's just like, everything is not going the way she want it to be. That's fine. So she's complaining about every little thing. So-and-so's, they're not coming and now this person don't got their suit and this, da, da, da. And I'm like, and while she's steady talking and like, she's like, and so-and-so said they're not gonna be here. And I'm a maid of honor and I'm like, so-and-so's gonna be here? You didn't even tell me they was in the wedding. That's somebody I don't even fool with. So like, why would you have me around these people and you not even prepping me? Like, that's all I'm asking is that you cast a little vision. If you made me the maid of honor, why don't I know somebody I don't fool with is about to be in your wedding?
Is that a continuous pattern in y'all's relationship where you feel as if she chooses other people over your feelings?
Definitely. Absolutely.
Okay.
So how was she at the wedding though?
When I walked into her wedding, she wasn't talking to me. I don't think she talked to me that entire day at all. We took pictures like you supposed to, but she didn't acknowledge my presence the entire day.
Really? Mm-mm. Wow. Okay, and how'd that make you feel?
I mean, I didn't wanna be there, so it was just kind of like, this is what we gotta do. We gotta put on face 'cause it's your day, and then we can settle this later, I guess. I just don't think she's sisterly to me like I want her to be. Like, she had a business. She was a caregiver for a business. So of course I'm paying her to watch my son. That's no problem. But like, you don't think that stuff is weird until you talking to other people and it's like, hey, if I'm late, I gotta pay Brianna a late fee if I go pick my son up 15 minutes late or whatever. And she'd be like, this is a business. And I'm like, but can you just be his aunt for 10 minutes while I'm running up the street? Like, I watch, she got 10, like she has a family of 10 kids. I watch all of them for free. All of Valentine's Day, whenever y'all wanna go. Yeah, just bring 'em all. You know what I'm saying? We gonna order pizza.
She's charging you?
For my one. We don't really like have that sisterly bond. Like I see other people's bond and I be like, why I don't have that?
So you want a relationship with her?
Yeah.
What will it take for you to get that relationship?
I'm sorry.
Have my back the way I have yours. And I love her kids. They're so cute. They may or may not be my favorites. You know what I'm saying? And it's like, I don't wanna keep getting into it with you and I don't wanna get into it with you because I love your kids. You know who the shady one is, by the way.
I think we all figured out who the shady one, right?
I love them.
You love them though. If she's not willing to change, do you wanna cut her out your life?
I feel like we gonna have to be sisters or not be nothing. I think that's fair. You either gonna be my sister or like, I don't need no more friends. I got good friends. Okay. You know what I'm saying?
I understand. Well, I think everyone, it's time to meet your sister. So everyone, please welcome Briana to the show. Hey Briana, thank you for being here.
Hey, hey, hey.
Hey, so please tell me, how do you feel about what was just said?
I mean, parts of it, You know, stung a little bit, you know.
What part stung?
When she said, what'd she say? Something like, I love her kids, so, you know, I don't wanna be beefing with her 'cause, you know, 'cause I love her kids. That's why you don't wanna be beefing with me 'cause you like my kids.
But she also, I don't wanna be selective in hearing because I know sometimes we can do that, especially with siblings. We hear what we want to hear and we won't hear the rest. I heard the full story. She also said that she would protect you, that she would love you, and that she would be there for you. Yeah. And that, "The reason she loves your kids and she takes 'em in is because she wants to support you." So she did also say that. She did.
Okay.
Can you acknowledge she said that?
I didn't hear that.
Tell me about your bachelorette party, 'cause I wanna go back to that, 'cause I know that was a big time for you.
Yeah, okay, so my bachelorette party, we were all hanging out. I've been calling everybody all day long. I've been calling, and so I was frustrated. Yeah, I got news at my rehearsal dinner that people weren't coming and stuff like that. And so yeah, I was talking about it and, you know, I got all my friends there. I, I have several sisters there and I got not all my friends, but like 3 or 4 of my coworkers and stuff like that there. And so I'm talking about it. So I'm calling her, I got my other sisters calling her, maybe she just not answering for me. I'm calling. And so finally she tries to call, she don't answer. And then when I call her this last time, She picks up and she's like, "I know I'm supposed to be there. I know I am, but I'ma just go ahead and prep the food and stuff. I'ma prep it here." So when I hang up, I'm still pissed. Like, you said you was coming. Like, I done got the key to my parents' restaurant so you could come cook the food or whatever. And so she's like, "But she said she was coming." And I'm like, "I get that, but I can still be pissed that she ain't here." On top of, because she's not here, we were all supposed to, like, I bought all this food. Like, I bought the food because she was cooking it. So we bought all this food to make hors d'oeuvres and all of that. She's supposed to show all my bridesmaids how to put the hors d'oeuvres and stuff together for the wedding. Yes, they are here.
This is your other sister you're talking about?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes, yes.
And so—
'Cause she's here.
Right, right, right.
She's there next to you listening to you talk about this.
Yeah, and so I'm like, but we still can't get this done 'cause she ain't coming today and we can't get this done and we can't get this done. And she was just like, but she said she coming. Like at the end of the day, you should be fine with that. You should be fine with— She said she's coming. You been wanting her to communicate. She finally answered. I'm like, I can be pissed. Like, it's not about you. Like, she was like, but I need you to calm down. I was like, or what? Like, I need to calm down or what? Like, what? And so now she's standing up.
And that's the thing too. Like, besides the one that's also here, we are the fighters of the family. So yeah, I do mean that. What are you gonna do? Like, that's not what— we beyond like that, and that's not— Briana's not a fighter. And so when she's being aggressive, I'm sitting there like, bro, stop screaming because you acting aggressive. And we both know you not a fighter like that.
But if you standing over me, like trying to fight—
But I wasn't standing up. I was sitting down on the couch. No, you were this close to me.
We were sitting this close together when we started the conversation. I ain't getting no closer. I'm sitting right here. We sitting this close together when I started talking, and I was on that end.
But tone can be fighting words, don't you agree? That's how you take it, cuz you a fighter. Am.
Okay, so at the end of the day, I'm talking like I always talk.
And that's the best way she act, cuz she gonna be like, and this the way I always talk, and who gonna make me shut up?
And ain't gonna make me shut up at my own house, at my own bachelorette party. You're not going to make me.
You're right.
You're not. You're absolutely not gonna make me shut up. And then standing over me trying to, I got all my people here and you what, trying to loud talk me at my damn bachelorette? At my bachelorette party. You know, like, no, calm down.
And also, like she said, I was pregnant, so I don't know if it was the hormones too, but I was, it's hot, like I said, it was hot as hell, okay? It's July.
It wasn't hot in Texas.
In Texas, it was hot. I'm pregnant and I was hot and I was over it.
Yeah.
I was over it.
They can go from 0 to 100.
Oh, I see it.
I mean, it's constantly, I mean, it can be the smallest things.
I'm trying to tell you, get you feeling some type of way.
To make them go at it. And by me being the sister that's level, when like she can come to me, well, Briana can come to me, April can come to me, and then here I am in the middle trying to be cordial with the situation, trying to tell them, okay, at the end of the day, we're sisters. To have each other's back as sisters. That's what I want them to do. And I can say something about the bachelorette. I mean, the reason why we came to, I had to let her know, But at the same time, I was there for her. I didn't come to the bachelorette where I was supposed to show everybody, because I cater, to show everybody how to do the hors d'oeuvres that she wanted for the party. Instead of me coming, in my mind, when I'm blocked on cooking and all that, I don't answer my phone.
I got it.
I don't do that. And she right, I should've said something. Because she's my sister and because it's business. But when I'm doing stuff, and then when I did answer the phone, I hear them arguing at the same time and I'm like, what is they arguing for?
You was always on the phone with her.
Yeah, because I'm like, and then that's what April was trying to say, but I end up staying at home and didn't come.
I got it. I understand, I understand. The interesting part is that I think you do have each other's back. Y'all just don't hear each other. And it's the real. Like again, like I said, from the minute you walked out here, you're like, oh, the only thing you could focus on was what, one point that she had said. Even hearing this story about the wedding or the bachelorette party and her being there, what I got from it, if I was there, I'd have been like, you know what she's really saying to you is that you shouldn't stress and you got this person that's coming. She wasn't telling you that you can't feel your feelings, but it's like she's coming. She's gonna be there, so just let it go because there's nothing you can do in this moment. Am I right when you were doing that?
For the most part, yeah. And it was kind of like, I just felt like it was a lot being said about her not being there, but ain't nobody coming up with solutions.
I get it. So you're like, we gotta do something.
Y'all wanna go pick her up?
Yeah, you're like, no more, don't stress over it.
I would've picked her up. I would've stopped what I was doing to go pick her up if I would've known she would, Answer the phone and come.
Listen, I got it, I got it. But the thing is, is that she was still trying to be there. 'Cause when I know people who are not supportive and I know people who are not really in loving relationships, the fact that your stories always are like, she's right by my side, you always are around each other and supporting each other. For some reason you all are blocking and not looking at that. That is one symptom of many that has caused issues for y'all. You know what I mean? It's not the thing. The problem is that this relationship You're so protective of each other, it's become combative. And that's really what the issue is here. And what you need to do is you need to start understanding each other. And you're not understanding each other. Neither of you are really taking the time to understand who the other person really is. Your sister is not going to be you.
I don't want her to be.
Yes, you do.
I don't.
Yes, you do. No, no, no, you can say whatever you wanna say. I've been taking notes on it.
I don't want to be like this fool with people the way, If I don't like—
You want her to be like you.
You want me to be like you.
You want your sister to be like you.
I just want you to also respect my feelings when I'm like, why would you invite me to all these places with people that you know I don't like?
Now here we go, 'cause that's gonna be my second part. I don't think y'all understand each other, and I think y'all secondly need to start to learn how to respect each other's feelings.
Yes.
So I'm glad you got there on your own, because that's the thing. When your sister says, I'm hurting from these other people, I'm not gonna tell you that you have to like let them go, but I think having more of a conversation and helping her to understand that you hear her, I respect what you're feeling, is going to go a long way. Because what she's only screaming out for is that I would protect you, I'd do the world for you, I'd do everything for you. I just wanna know by you communicating, Mimi, that you would do the same for me. She's not gonna be you, you're not gonna be her. She's gonna have friends that you don't like. It's what sisters happen with sisters.
And that's fine. It wasn't for her. Just don't invite me. Yes. That's all I'm saying.
But if she wants her sister around.
No.
Let me tell you something. My sisters have people that I can't stand. Can't stand. And if they have something at their house, you think I'm not gonna enjoy my sister because of somebody else? Because this other person is not there.
We stay in the same city. We can enjoy each other anytime. Don't have me come over here with this.
Well, you know what? If that's the boundary you wanna set, that's fine. I respect that boundary, but at the end of the day, this is your sisters. Y'all love each other and there's so much love here. I think y'all just have to really understand each other better and respect each other's feelings better.
Yeah. And that's where the point lies.
Setting boundaries is healthy.
Yes.
You know what I'm saying?
Can you give your sister a hug?
Yeah.
Yeah, go ahead.
Listen, I love y'all.
Y'all decided to match, didn't tell me.
See, we're not gonna even hear the last of that. This is gonna go on because, you know, we just decided to have the same color on, you know.
I love y'all. Y'all are amazing. Y'all amazing.
It's weird.
And purple is her favorite, but this is the thing though, purple is her favorite color and she didn't wear it.
Listen, sincerely, I wish y'all the best. And sincerely, just respect each other's feelings and just communicate those more. All right, y'all going to be all right. All right, everyone, stay with us, friends. We'll be right back for more. Let me give y'all a hug. Y'all are cool.
