One Teen Pregnancy...Two Possible Fathers?! | KARAMO

In this episode of The Karamo Show, teenage mother Lexi recounts her experience becoming pregnant at 16, the lack of support from her parents, and moving in with her boyfriend Dustin, who was a year younger. After their son Nick was born, Lexi and Dustin broke up when Nick was about a year old due to Dustin’s infidelity and his abrupt departure, which left Lexi living briefly with her best friend Xander. Dustin’s family later dropped Lexi and Nick at Xander’s doorstep, sparking rumors that Xander might be the child’s father. Lexi denies any intimacy with Xander, but Dustin continues to question paternity. The show brings Dustin and Xander onto the set to hear their sides. Tensions rise as each party describes the timeline of intimacy, living arrangements, and accusations. Karamo then stages a DNA reveal: a test confirms Dustin is the biological father and Xander is not. Dustin expresses relief and commits to being present, while Karamo offers concrete support—funding five trips for Dustin to see his son, encouraging co‑parenting, and advising both parents to seek community and social‑service help. The episode ends with a focus on moving forward with clarity, responsibility, and emotional healing.
Chapters
I found out I was pregnant when I was 16, about 3 months into the pregnancy.
Okay.
I was currently with Dustin and I like immediately told him. I like left my house. I thought I hid the test well, but apparently did not. 'Cause I got a call while me and him were both freaking out and I got grounded because obviously—
I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh.
No.
You find out you're pregnant and your parents grounded you?
Yes.
That's not gonna help in this case. That doesn't really help anything.
Yeah, they were not supportive in the beginning.
I can imagine. I can imagine what they're going through. I didn't mean to laugh, but I'm like, really, you grounded? Okay.
Okay.
So you were pregnant and grounded. All right.
Yeah, and then I just ended up living with him and—
Well, let me take me back. How did Dustin react when you told him that you were pregnant?
We were both freaking out. Freaking out, yeah.
I understand.
We didn't have any experience.
Y'all know my son was born when I was 16. And so we only 15 years apart. So I can, I understand your freak out. I understand.
Yeah, so.
How old was Dustin at the time? 'Cause you said you were 16. Was he 16?
I think he's a year younger than me.
So he was 15. So yeah. Babies. Okay then. Was he there for you during the pregnancy? I know you moved in with his family.
Yeah, he was there for me. He did miss a couple of like the doctor's appointments.
When did the two of you break up though?
We broke up when Nick was about a year old.
Okay.
Because Dustin had like a history of cheating on me. And when another girl was like, "Hey, I'm with him, I need his number. Do you have his like current number?" I was like, "No, I don't have his current number. Last I knew his phone was off." And then I like talked to him about it and he's like, "I didn't, I didn't." And I was like, "I can't believe you." So no, we're not together anymore.
You are smart. Okay then, I'm glad you chose yourself in that moment. That's very good.
Yeah.
What happened when your son was 4 months old?
Yeah, when Nick was 4 months old, Dustin's family came to visit and the plan was we would all 3 go and live in Oregon with them, but they had brought extra people so me and Nick wouldn't actually fit in the car on the ride home. And he left me at Xander's doorstep, got in a cop car, and drove back to his family. To his house to pack up his stuff. And then there was no communication for like 24 hours after. And they called me a stalker when I checked his location to see where he was, if he made it safely.
So, so, so yeah, so that, that's wild. But like, I wanna go back to that because like you're here, you're thinking I'm about to move with this man. We're gonna make this commitment for us with our child. And then he drops you off on the doorstep of the other man that potentially could be the father. Who's Xander?
Yeah, he drops me off at my best friend's doorstep and says, "Bye." 'Cause Xander was your best friend? Yeah.
And that also who he's here because he could be potentially the other father, correct?
That's what Dustin thinks. That's what Dustin thinks. I've never had any sexual relations with Xander.
So when did he start accusing Xander of being your son's father?
They were looking at baby pictures when like Nick was a year old and like blonde babies, they mostly look the same. Yeah. So at least in my opinion, like since both of them and me were blonde blue-eyed children, there's obviously gonna be some similarities.
Got it. Was Xander involved in your son's life at all?
He was. When we got dropped off on his doorstep, he ended up moving in with me and Dustin's family and he helped me out 'cause I was, I had just been away.
Xander moved in with you and Dustin's family?
Yes.
While Dustin was away?
Yes.
Okay.
Dustin left with half his family. I was left with the other half of his family. I was working, I had literally just started working before Dustin moved. And so Xander helped by watching Nick and like changing diapers when I needed him to. And he was basically like the fun uncle.
Yeah. So during this time, I know you said he's your best friend. Did you have a relationship at all with Xander?
Other than best friends, no. I did help him get over his fear of girls caused by one of my ex-best friends, but Other than that, no.
And were you ever intimate with him?
We slept next to each other, but that was because I was literally in tears from Dustin leaving.
Why y'all saying mm? People can sleep next to each other. I was crying. Y'all so judgmental and messy. They talking about mm. All right, so when was the last time Dustin saw your son?
When Nick was 4 months old.
4 months old was the last time Dustin saw him?
Yep.
Got it. And since that time, Xander's been around, been in his life?
Kind of. We moved in with my aunt. Xander was with us from like the whole year before we moved.
And how old is your son now?
He's almost 2.
2 years old.
He'll be 2 in 2 months.
Okay then, wow. And does Dustin help at all with the baby?
I have not received any child support. I have not received any, like advice or help like at all. And he wants to try and tell me that I can't be on dating sites 'cause he doesn't want random men around Nick.
So Dustin has an issue with you dating though he doesn't want anything to do with you and the child?
Yeah, and he's currently living with someone else and her newborn.
Wow.
And her newborn.
Wow.
That he knows for a fact is not his.
He knows for a fact the child's not his?
He knows for a fact it's not his.
But this child that He knew, you said to him early on, this is your child. He's denying. He's denying, yeah. With that one he's around. I gotta ask you very also simply, I know you said you and Xander have never been intimate in any way, shape, form. Is there any possibility of any other fathers?
No.
Okay then. Well listen everybody, I wanna meet your ex Dustin and hear his side of the story. So everyone please welcome Dustin to the show. Hi Dustin, how are you? Take a seat for me.
Doing good.
Good. So how do you feel about what Lexi has been saying?
I mean, there's some truth to it. There are things I didn't know about.
Okay, what is the truth and what are the things you didn't know about?
Truth is, yes, I did leave, but it was due to issues at home.
Yeah, but there were better ways to leave.
I can agree with that.
You didn't have to leave your child and your me.
I can agree with that, but I did try to bring you with me.
Um, how could you have brought me with you? They had other people intentionally blocking our access, and I did not know that. You said you'd pick me up in October, and I was trying— I quit my job to be picked up in October.
I understand that, and I was trying to be able to get you.
Lexi, anything else you want to say to him about him leaving?
He could have moved out of his parents' house and he could have moved with me into a different house rather than moving into a different state.
Yeah. So why do you have doubts that her son is not your son?
'Cause when we found out, I was over the road. When she called me saying she was pregnant.
I went to your house to tell you. You were inside your bedroom when I told you.
You called me with pregnancy test.
No, I didn't.
And I went to your house.
Were you two intimate from your point of view around the time she got pregnant?
No.
You weren't intimate?
Wow.
Okay, have you ever heard him say this before?
I have not because we were very intimate around time of conception.
Got it. You told producers you were out of town at the time. Is that true?
Yes.
Okay.
I don't think you went on the road with him for like a month. I was over there like 2 weeks. No, that was the month before the time of conception.
So then why do you think that Xander is the child's father?
Because Xander was staying with us.
Okay.
We weren't living with Xander at that time. Xander lived with us after you abandoned us.
That is not how I remember it.
It might not be how you remembered it, but that's what happened.
So is there any, other than him living with you, is there any other suspicions you're having of why you think Xander's the father?
And then I guess me just finding out that they had slept in the same bed.
Because I was in tears for you leaving me and your child behind.
Got it. How long has it been since you've last seen your potential son?
It's been about 2 years.
2 years, okay. Do you want to be his father?
Yes, I do.
You want to be his father?
And what's gonna happen when you are his father? You gonna actually be a father?
Right, right.
'Cause if you're not gonna be a father, then you need to back up.
But your state's away, so how will you be able to take care of the child and support the child?
I'll figure it out.
Is it true that you're taking care of another child that's not yours?
Yes, it is true. And I am living with her. And I've talked to her about taking a trip to be able to see my son, Nicholas, and she agrees with it. We're just financially not able to.
So that's like he wasn't your kid?
Okay. I think there's one more person in this story. I wanna talk to Xander and hear what he has to say about this. Everyone welcome Xander to the show.
You need a hug.
You want a hug?
You need a hug.
Probably.
Okay, give me a hug.
Don't fall.
Xander, how are you doing?
A little jumpy.
A little jumpy? One thing I can tell you is that your two energy is, your energy, both of you changed immediately once you all walked out here. How long has it been since you two have last seen each other?
About a year.
You two haven't seen each other in a year?
Yeah.
What does it feel like to see her right now?
It's hard not to cry.
Why?
These two were my main supporters back when I was on my own.
Yeah. And so right now being on this stage is kind of hard for you.
Oh yeah.
Yeah. What was your relationship like with Lexi?
We were best friends and I became the uncle for Nicholas at the start because I chose to. That was my main goal. You didn't choose to.
You were made to be uncle. I thought it was a friendship law. You were made to be uncle.
That's fair.
Would you say that you were in love with Lexi?
I still am, yes.
You still are in love with her. I can read that. I can read that all over your energy. I'm gonna ask you, were you two ever intimate?
No, sadly not.
Okay, okay.
Sadly not?
I'm saying the truth here.
I guess.
Well, you know, my judgmental audience here, when Lexi said y'all slept in the same bed, didn't believe her.
I held her when Dustin left.
Okay, and so no other hanky-panky?
Nope.
Okay then. Okay, good. See?
See?
Y'all over here judging. So when did Dustin start saying you might be the baby's father?
I found out from the Karamo Show and Lexi on the phone.
Wow, that's when you first heard that he was accusing you?
Yeah, that's the first time I ever heard it.
Dustin, he said that you were his biggest surprise that you all had a friendship. What is it like to see him right now?
I mean, he's been staying with me and my current girlfriend or fiancée. And we've been—
So you're in Oregon right now?
No, I'm back in Idaho.
You're back in Idaho?
Yes.
So you're staying with him and his girlfriend?
I mean, we're visiting right now, yeah.
Okay, let's back this up. You're staying with him and his girlfriend and this new, his new girl and the new baby he's taking care of. So you're playing uncle to that baby too? Yep.
Betrayal.
Oh, come on. You disappeared to Wisconsin and left me behind.
I did the same thing he did.
Did you help take care of Lexi's son?
Yes.
Yeah. Do you love that child?
Oh yeah.
Do you wish that it was yours?
100% if I could.
You do wish it was yours? Have you ever heard him talk like this, Lexi?
No.
You've never heard it. How does it make you feel hearing him talk like this?
I mean, he would be a better father than Dustin. He communicates more with me than Dustin does.
See, now you got their minds working because how do you wanna be the father if nothing hanky-panky happened in that bed?
I love Nicholas like a son, actually.
Okay then, I hear that. Well, I think it's time to solve this DNA mystery.
He had something to say.
All right, so Xander, this is your DNA truth. You said that nothing happened between you two. My audience doesn't believe it. But you two are saying it's not, and you're also saying that you would love to be Nicholas' father.
Father.
Yes.
So let's find out if you possibly could be Nicholas' father. This is your truth to open, not mine.
Thank you.
You can open it anytime you want and read what's on it.
For what it's worth, man, you're a great guy.
Not a great dad.
And you're gonna be a great dad. You just need some time to grow. And you need some training. Is what I think. Xander, Nick is not your biological son.
Okay, okay, okay, I guess we was wrong. Okay. Dustin, how does that make you feel knowing that they're not?
Makes me feel better.
Okay, well listen, Dustin, in this envelope is your DNA truth.
Here you go, this is your truth to open.
If you don't mind.
Oh, boy.
Um, phew, okay.
Let's just see. Dustin, Nick is your biological son.
I told you! I told you! You didn't believe me! I told you! I told you!
You believe someone you've known literally less than half of your life over me?
Dustin, what's going on in your mind right now? 'Cause you're tearing up.
It's a relief. I can now have a clear conscience. Kinda rub it in my family's face going, no, I was right. 'Cause I was going against 'cause I'm going, he is mine. And now I can actually go and say that, so.
Got it. And are you ready to be there for your child?
Yeah.
Like how there?
As there as I can.
How far are you two from each other?
It's about a 2-day trip by car.
2-day trip by car? Got it, so it's not close at all.
No.
Understandable. Okay, well I gotta tell you this. I'm glad that you have this information. I'm glad that you have your answers now and that you know that this is your child 'cause this is going to, the thing is, is that when there's doubt, it causes so much other pain. It starts to trickle into parts of your lives. And so now that you have this clarity, you can start making other clear decisions. And the first decision I wanna ask you is that the support that you didn't feel as a child, do you want your child to feel that way or do you wanna make sure they feel supported?
I mean, I wanna be there and support him.
Okay, great. So what I want you to do is every morning you wake up, understand that's gonna be your intention. You're gonna see how you start to make moves how you make decisions with money, how you make decisions with where you're gonna go and what you're gonna do. You have to be clear on what you wanna be doing with your child and for your child. Secondly, you have to make sure you understand that you need to ask for help a lot more. And it's not just gonna be from your family, it's going to be from social programs. You have to take away any pride you have and say, I need help. Because she needs help and your child needs help and it's going to be up to you two to work together to get that help. What I wanna find out is how far that is. I heard it's about 1,900 miles. I'm gonna go ahead and pay for 5 of those trips, okay? 5 of those trips right now so you can see your child. Because I wanna make sure you can have a plan to see your child. So now you know you got 5 trips that you can go see your child that the Karamo Show and myself, we're gonna handle for you, okay?
All right.
But at least you have your answers. You also have a plan of you seeing your child. We also have given you new ways of communicating, okay? The best of luck to all of y'all, okay?
