Karamo tells people in their 40s stuck in unhealthy relationships to let go. He uses an anchor metaphor to show how a partner can drag both people down, leaving you exhausted and stagnant. Mid-life is still time for growth and genuine intimacy with someone who actually wants to be there.

You all would have an opportunity to live happier and healthier lives apart. And the thing with sometimes in unhealthy relationships is when someone else is your anchor, you forget that anchor also pulls people down. And this relationship is doing nothing but pulling you all down, even though you feel like she's the one that's holding you down. No, I don't feel like that. When I say holding you down, I don't mean like pushing you down, but being the one that's saying, okay, I'm here, I'm gonna still keep up with you, I'm gonna still put up with things, I'm gonna still be there. But she's telling you she's exhausted. So my question is, is that why? You're not happy. You're not happy. And you have an opportunity to be happy. You have an opportunity to heal, to be with someone who's gonna wanna talk to you, who's gonna wanna have sex with you, who y'all are going to wanna engage in these things. Y'all are both in your 40s. We're still young. You're not old. You get an opportunity to still live. This is not what it has to be. You don't have to live the next 40 years unhappy, sad, arguing, crying. Stop holding on.
